I came to a verbal agreement tonite with a local dealer for a 2006 AWD, EXL with NAV at $31,700. The only other dealer fee will be the "prep" charge of $204.00. I went around for a week with a total of four dealers before settling on this price, which was the lowest. I also have a history of purchase from this dealer in the early 80's and know they are reputable. Your price is right in this ballpark and I don't think you'll do too much better. I go in tomorrow and sign the P&S. I'm psyched, this will be my first new vehicle in 12 years. Good luck with your purchase.

    Hello Steroid,
We are in the market for a new Pilot either an "05" or "06" EX 2WD. Which dealership in the St. Louis area did you make your purchase from? Edmunds states that there is a $1500.00 manufacturer to dealer incentive that starts today (Nov. 4th) and ends in December, on the "05" models. Also I'm curious how you went about getting all of your quotes by E-mail as opposed to phone calls, E-mail seem so much better when negotiating.
Thank you in advance for your help. I will be sure to post my final purchase price when we make our decision. jrwath :)

    Hi jrwath,

I bought mine from Stephen Vincel Honda. Huey's Honda was also nice to deal with, but got a slightly better price from Vincel. Can't post names of salespeople here due to forum rules, but it is easy to figure out by looking at their websites. We felt that 06 had a lot more to offer than 05, but that is obviously a personal decision. You can probably get an 05 AWD about 3K cheaper than an 06 2WD.

    Good luck!

FYI- I just paid $30,769 for a 2006 EX-L with NAV package. That price did not include TT&L but DID include matching titanium window tinting for the front two windows and some extras that I wanted (mud flaps, wheel locks and cargo liner). I am totally happy with this vehicle. I was going to get the AWD but decided to go with the 2WD version because it has the new engine that shuts off 3 cylinders during cruise. EPA rating is 18/24. My initial no-kidding combined mileage is 19.3 MPG. The voice activated NAV is the absolute best and drops jaws when I command the A/C on and off by voice. I asked my sister, "what's your favorite station?" I promptly pressed the voice button and stated, "Radio 98.6 FM". The computer repeated my command and changed the station. The NAV is as simple as saying "go home" and it computes a path directly from your present position. Too cool. You must try it. Take Care and God Bless!

Picked up an '06 EX-L AWD at invoice (plus tax, license, and $45 doc fee) yesterday from Tracy Honda. They came down $1000 from their original quote to match another dealer quote of $30280. Another nearby dealer quoted $30381. One dealer quoted $1000 below MSRP and laughed at me when I asked them to match the low quote.

My wife and I purchased our new Pilot yesterday and are picking it up on Wednesday. I made offers with four local dealers through their websites and made a decision Friday evening to go with Atamian Honda in Tewksbury, MA. They called me Friday evening and accepted my offer which was substantially below invoice. We went to the dealership yesterday to complete the paperwork. If anyone is looking in the Lowell, MA area, I would highly recommend Atamian. The entire process was painless. There was absolutely no effort made to pressure us into "add on's" or extended maintainance agreements. We added rear splash guards to the vehicle and they were fine to leave it at that. We dealt with a salesman, the internet manager, and the finance department, all were extremely pleasant to deal with making the entire process actually enjoyable.

Its good to see that the prices are now at or "substantially below invoice" on the 2006 Pilots. One dealership I checked had over 30 units in stock. I have yet to see a 2006 on the road. I live in an area where SUVs are quite popular.

I just bought an 06 EXL AWD with NAV for 31900. It was the cheapest price I could get between 3 dealers. So far I am really impressed with the truck, I bought it for my wife and new baby. Does anyone know if you can mount an aftermaket DVD on the headliner if you have the moonroof?
  • mvliegermvlieger Member Posts: 1
Did you "Name your Price" on their website? Do you mind me asking how much below invoice you paid? My wife and I are in the market for the exact same model and live south of Tewksbury (in Cambridge).
  • bogiejimbogiejim Member Posts: 51
Yes, I made an offer on their website. They then acknowledged receipt via a couple of emails. I did not respond to the emails, as I assummed if they were really interested they would respond by accepting my offer or making a counter offer. They called me Friday night and accepted my offer. I went to the dealer on Saturday and we took care of the paperwork. They did not have the exact vehicle on the lot, but have procurred one locally and I will be picking it up on Wednesday. The offer they accepted is $500.00 below invoice, including destination charge. The only other fee from the dealer was $204.00 for documentation fee. Good Luck!

As I found these boards very helpful in doing background work prior to my purchase, I would like to let this group know the outcome of my Indianapolis Pilot Search.
I took delivery last PM of a 2006 EX-L AWD with Navi from Ed Martin Honda. I visited all of the Indy dealers, and found Ed Martin to be the only one to really want to discuss pricing - Honda West was of the "our 'very fair' offer - take it or leave it" philosophy, as was Penske and Tom Wood. Anyway, the price: 32,025.31 (not including TTL, but including destination). Only extras are mud flaps and cargo liner (all cars they sell have them - no discussion). It took a lot of leg work, and having some internet quotes from Chicago (where the pricing seems more aggressive than Indy) helped.

    Hi guys,

Hope you can provide some input. On the actual forum for extended waranties its hard to compare, as everybody from Civic to Odessey owners write in.

On a 2wdr EX Pilot that I paid 27309 for, I opted for an 7yr/80K coverage plan that includes roadside assistence, rentalcar reimbursement towing etc. My cost for thios plan was 1597,- Is that out of wack !

What biothers me is the fact that the plan started out costing 2088,- and then dropped as the sales guy was giving me an "exceptional deal" What do ya think !

    best regards Tom

I am also looking for a AWD 06 EXL. With that dealer quote of $30280, are the taxes, license, etc all included? Was that your bottom line price? I am ready to make some offers and write a check, I just want to be sure I am negotiating properly. Thanks!
  • doscardoscar Member Posts: 12
I just bought an 05 EX for $25,700 which includes delivery. 05 Ex in Calif. are hard to find. There are more 05 EXLs around.

Just received a best quote for an '06 Pilot EXL 2wd for $28,900.00, destination fee included. Price seems very fair so I'm taking a trip to the Honda dealership this weekend to purchase the vehicle.
  • pilot3rdpilot3rd Member Posts: 13
No, it was invoice ($30280) (plus tax, license, and $45 doc fee).
I wanted them to throw in about $300 in accessories (or sell for $30,000 even), but I couldn't come up with the documentation to show other local dealers would do it. So I was willing to settle for invoice. Their argument was they could go lower than invoice on a 2WD EX-L because there are so many of them, but not on the AWD.
    Tracy Honda - $30280
    Elk Grove Honda - $30280
    Stockton Honda - $30381

I have found one that was a dealer Demo. Has approx 4500 miles on it, never titled. It has Nav and is loaded with other goodies like running boards, fog lights, roof cross bars, mud flaps, wheel locks.

Dealer offered the "amazing low price" of $30,990. I told him I didn't thing that was a competitive offer and he asked me to make him an offer, which I declined. Primarily because I was not comfortable that I had exhausted all my research options at that point, and didn't want to hang myself with a bad response.

Any ideas on what sort of discount to expect on a Demo vehicle? I'm confident that when cleaned up, it will be close to new. It was dark outside, but I only saw one or two minor scratches and one small paint chip on the bumper.

Also, any DC area Honda dealer recommendations?

    What price did you pay?
  • bogiejimbogiejim Member Posts: 51
I made my offer of $31,750.00 (includes destination charge) on the dealer's website. They called me last Friday evening, accepting the offer. I also paid a document prep. fee to the dealer of $204.00. They did not have the exact vehicle on their lot, but went about 100 miles to get one for me. I thought this was great service, as most dealers that accept a low offer make it contingent upon the vehicle being on the lot. Picked it up last night. I am itching for the weekend, as my commute to work each day is 7 miles round trip, so the mileage was not a major factor for me.

Hey where did you get this quote from. I will drive there if I can get that quote rated to me. What dealership? Did it come with the DVD player?
  • jromjrom Member Posts: 1
Which dealer accepted your offer of $31,750? thx :)
  • johnwolfjohnwolf Member Posts: 8
Correct me if I am wrong.
The invoice price for 06 Pilot AWD EXL/NAV is $31,707.
    $31,750 is above this price.
How come you think it is below invoice?
Did you mean you considered the destination charge?
  • bogiejimbogiejim Member Posts: 51
Yes, my price of $31,750.00 included the $550.00 destination charge. Actual dealer invoice plus destination is $32,257.00.

I am also in the market for a 2006 EXL 4WD with NAV. I just returned from a dealer in Marietta, GA. Got in writing a purchase price of $31609.00 ($35795.00 sticker) plus tax and license. I am going to choose to lease for:

    42 months
    12K miles per year
    $1500 to start lease
    $361 + tax$25.27

Add $18 per month if I want 15K miles per year

Their residual is $19687, 55% off STICKER not the discounted price. Residual off discounted price at 55% would be $17384.

    Is this a good deal?

    Don
  • johnwolfjohnwolf Member Posts: 8
    That's interesting.
I got a similar quote with additional $440 fees.
    Seems slighter higher than yours.

    I have a question.
If I ask a dealer to match a quote and he asks where I get it, should I tell him the name of the other dealer and sales man?
  • desperatedudedesperatedude Member Posts: 1
I am looking at leasing a Honda Pilot 4WD EXL without navigation, leather interior, MSRP 33,595. I want to put absolutely no money out of pocket whatsoever...dealer is saying they can offer me a payment of $409 a month, but that's with $500 out of pocket for 42 months at 12K. If I want no money out of pocket, then it will be about $425. What do you think? I want 15K a year with no money out of pocket and I want it for no more than $400 bucks a month.

    What du u think?
  • bogiejimbogiejim Member Posts: 51
I had an additional fee of $204.00 over and above the $31,750.00. As far as I have been able to determine, all dealers get some type of additional fee for "document preperation" it seems unavoidable. I did much of my pricing with dealers via email, and went so far as to forward quotes, upon request to other dealers. I wouldn't hesitate to tell them which dealer gave you the quote. If they want your business they will match or beat it. Have you visited dealers?, there are plenty of Pilots on the lots.
  • bogiejimbogiejim Member Posts: 51
Atamian Volkswagen/Honda in Tewksbury, MA. They were extremely easy to deal with, and no high pressure tactics at all.

Closed my deal last week @ Weseloh Honda, San Juan Capistrano, CA..........

$33242.67 cash price (included accessories; splash guards, wheel locks, chrome exhaust tips, roof rack cross rails, black tubular running boards, monochromatic rearview mirror, Lojak theft system)

    + $550 destination charge
    + $45 document fee
    + $2622.42 sales tax
    + $1350 6 yr / 100k 0 deductible extended warranty
    + $8.75 California tire fee
    + $12 smog abatement fee
    + $271 California registration fee

Total damage: $38101.84 -- oh yaa, I get my first oil change for free - LOL

Wasn't there any sales tax charged on the purchase? Makes a big difference. I want a deal like yours!
  • consultautoconsultauto Member Posts: 5
Hollman Honda in Sunrise Florida, no dvd player, I can actually get it for a hundred dollars less from another dealership but did not feel the sales person was being straitforward with me, so i decided to pay a little more and not waste my time and have surprises appear at time of purchase.
  • hallfrogshallfrogs Member Posts: 1
We're also in the market for an 06 Pilot AWD EXL-RES. Based on my research, $30,969 + TTL looks great (invoice incl dest. = $31,718). At what dealership did you purchase? Thanks.
  • wlodekwlodek Member Posts: 4
In Chicago, I got a price 32000 inclusive of destination from inernet sales rep in Grand Honda over the phone, would be be ready in few days, I came to dealership to put down 1000 and wait for it, but in dealership they wanted me to wait 3-4 weeks, probably so they get some incentives towards end of the month or for Thanksgiving, when I said I need car this week they made me sign paper that I buy only if they get me a car within a week, he went to manager and after alot of waiting came back and said OK they would have a car in within a week, and notify us once it comes. Nobody bothered to call me for a week and of course I did not get a car, when I call they said they do not have a car for me yet, I think they did not even plan to give me a car in a week, they hoped that I would wait for them and buy in 3-4 weeks. I took back my downpayment and went to Schaumburg dealer, gave them price and agreed to buy without major negotiating to buy for 31970 including destination, wheel locks and splash guards. overall buying experience was good. Thumbs up for Schaumburg Honda, big thumbs down for Grand Honda. I noticed when they asked me where did I get my price from , I said that I did extensive research on the internet, that discouraged them from long haggling over the price.

    Hi colhazard,

I'm also interested in the 05 EX. could u please tell me which dealership u went to.

I'm in san diego, so i dont mind driving up to orange county.

    Thanx a million.

    Prashanth
  • colhazardcolhazard Member Posts: 8
    prashanthsharm,

The dealership I bought the 05 EX had the last one in stock but you can get to the same price I bought it (even lower) by starting from Long Beach Honda's price quote of $25,111.00 with destination fee included -- they e-mail this quote when you use Edmunds or their website to get quotes.

Price match it to dealers who claim they can beat any written price quotes you have. Use Edmunds to get your price quotes from dealers in Orange County.

I eventually went to the dealer who had the color I wanted. That is, after the third round of price matches or $24,900 + tax, fees and licenses -- no marked up dealer add ons that they'll find an excuse to add to your cost.

    Hi heifzilla,
If you look up at the top of the list of messages, there's a "search this discussion" feature. If you type in "chicago," you'll get results for a bunch of messages in which other members have posted their Pilot purchasing experiences... some good, some bad. But that's a good place to start.

I have received the following offer from a dealer:

    2006 Pilot EX-L with Navigation - 31,907
    Cross bars - 276 installed
Chrome Side Steps - 695 installed
Rear mud guards - 86 installed
    Moonroof visor - 145 installed
Rear, 10 inch DVD player - 1600 installed

Please let me know what you think of this deal.

Also, I am probably going to lease the vehicle (I know all the arguments against it), and have been quoted the following terms on a 36 month, 15,000 mile per year lease for the above vehicle at the above prices:

    55% residual
    .00115 money factor
    $566.65 per month

One interesting thing about the lease quote, is that I have been told by the dealer that only the side steps can be taken into account in calculating the MSRP for purposes of the lease and the residual value.

If you have any thoughts on this lease deal, please let me know. Thanks.

Save 650 dollars and try an email quote from Honda of Riverside. They gave me an email quote for an 06 EXL 4wd with nav for 31999.00 including destination. Then you add doc fees of 45 and tax etc for the total. I used their quote and another local dealer (spreen) matched it. I dont know if they like to upsell accessories or not
  • crv77crv77 Member Posts: 12
    Okra,

Thanks for the info. I will give them a try. How recently did you get the quote and do you remember who it was that you dealt with? BTW, what color did you get. I am deciding between silver and sage. I am leaning towards sage as I already have a silver camry for my wife. Thanks.
  • johnwolfjohnwolf Member Posts: 8
Guys, if you are really in the market of buying a pilot.
Don't hesitate to squeeze the price!
Why? Because nobody is buying a pilot at this time.
Don't you see stacks of pilot in the dealership?
They become the pain in their [non-permissible content removed]!
  • aduadu Member Posts: 1
We purchased a new 05 pilot EX last weekend. The price we paid is 25,200 plus TTL, we thought it was a good deal until we saw this forum, 'cause there is 520 miles in this car already.

Is this a fair deal considering the miles? We are in Texas.

    Appreciate your comment!
  • huskrhuskr Member Posts: 18
I was wondering if this sounds like a good deal or if you think I could do better?
    06 pilot AWD EXL
    Side steps $603
Windows tinted (driver and passanger) $66
    Rear splash guards $77
    Price quoted $31,249
    36 mon. 12,000 ml. $415.88
    Lease factor .00115
    buy out 19,821
Also that is with no money down, just first payment and $10 title fee
I think the lease payment still seems high
  • meusemanmeuseman Member Posts: 18
Does that $415.88 per month include your state sales tax. If so, what is the tax rate?
  • okraokra Member Posts: 6
That quote was about two weeks ago. I am waiting for a blue pilot to show up. I know there are lots of sage and silvers out there to be had but apparently not an awd blue leather with nav.
