invoice I have for my car is 28652.00
but the dealer then offered me an extended warranty, $1330 for 8yr/120K with no deductible, but it buddled with a exterior-telflon fortified sealant and interior protect for $1475
He sounded like the whole warranty can be canceled within 60days. but actually the protection for $1475 is not cancelable, it counted as cash accessories.
You guys have any comments?
I sent the following EM to the metro Honda Dealers plus ones in Mankato, Rochester, Duluth, Sioux Falls, and Eau Claire.:
==========================================================
Dear Internet Manager:
I am interested in leasing a Honda Pilot EX AWD w/Leather before the end of December. I am looking for a 42 month lease with no money down (except for tax/title/registration) with 12,000 miles per year. Colors: Desert Rock or Amazon Green. Please provide me your best offer in the following format:
1) Sales Price (including destination charge)
2) Money Factor
3) Residual value
4) Monthly payment
I understand that Money Factor will vary based on my credit score. I am Ok if you provide the 2 best possible money factors contingent on my credit.
Please understand that I am well versed in market pricing, dealer holdbacks and the like. I hope we can do business together.
==========================================================
Surprisingly, I only heard back from two of the Twin Cities Dealerships (Burnsville and Hopkins). I had lots of interest from the non-metro area dealers. I'll cut to the chase:
1) Winning Dealership: Ken Vance Car City in Eau Claire
2) Price Paid including dest charge :$29,500
3) Accessories(Mats and Mud Flaps): $205
4) Money Factor: .001 (determined by your credit score)
5) Residual: $18,813.20 (Determined by Honda corp.)
6) Money Down: $896.75 (Registration, 1st month payment, and $89.50 services fee for dealership)
7) Monthly payment: $343.50 (includes MN sales tax of 6.5%)
Lessons Learned:
a) On leasing focus your negotiation on the Sales Price (that is really the only thing the dealer can negotiate)
b) Consider as many dealerships as possible
c) The Twin Cities dealerships had no real interest in negotiating
d) I would highly recommend Ken Vance Car City. Although I did not purchase from, Tom Kadlec Honda in Rochester was very responsive
I hope this helped someone get a better deal.
Thanks!
I personally wouldn't even bother with the extended warranty (and didnt when I bought my LX last Saturday.) Hondas have a virtually spotless track record and provided that you're diligent about routine maintenance will run forever. Cancel the warranty (if you actually can) and consider that money saved a wash with the $1475 you spent on the "cash accessories."
7 years/100,000 miles warranty: ($100 deductible = $1,001.00) OR ($0 deductible = $1,101.00)
7 years/120,000 miles warranty: ($100 deductible = $1,101.00) OR ($0 deductible = $1,201.00)
8 years/100,000 miles warranty: ($100 deductible = $1,081.00) OR ($0 deductible = $1,181.00)
8 years/120,000 miles warranty: ($100 deductible = $1,181.00) OR ($0 deductible = $1,281.00)
Hope this helps!
i am looking for an 06 awd exl-res here on long island. my best quote so far is now $1000 below invoice at $30,218. i emailed them back confirming the price making sure destination charges are included($550). look back at earlier posts by 'andyrus'. follow his procedure to get a better price. good luck!
The telflon job is for 5 year ganrantee, if the coating is damaged by natural reasons ( I guess) and the interior of car has some spillage, they will cover it.
Which one should I go for, of course, I will try to get the both for the same deal, if it is possible.
though I was tricked by this one, the deal is still in not bad shape, because I got the car price at 23844 without destination fees. of course without the scam, it would have been a great deal?
I live in Port Saint Lucie and have been dealing with a Honda dealership up here in Fort Pierce. Miami is a bit of a drive for me and before I start the process of working with a dealership that far away I have a few questions. Who is the Internet Manager and do you still have there e-mail address? Did you actually work the lease off of the discounted price? Did you trade in a car? I have a car in which I have negative equity and I think that the dealer I have been talking to is giving me a low ball for my car as well as charging MSRP for the 06 EX Pilot. I have my work cut out for me and sounds like I could do a lot better at Beach Honda. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your time.
Thinking of an 2005 because it seems to be the best deal right now as dealership will want to clean them out. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated thanks.
I will probably reccommend my sister to buy an 8yr/120K miles extended warranty.
I could argu to have some extra things, but I am almost sure that the dealer is only going to offer me one of the two, either protection or alarm. The reason is simple, he has the money now. He has a certain arrogance when answering my phone now refusing to discuss this matter further.
I would prefer to go for the alarm, but a little afraid he agrees only because he wants to use a cheap alarm or this is just a beginning of a new trick. what is your opinion?
One question I am having now is that it seems all maintaince such as oil change and tire rotation within the 3 year warranty, we have to pay the dealer?
another question I have is that I got an insurance quote, if it were yesterday, I would have paid the deposit immediately, but I had a lesson, so I decided to check here first.
Provided by Explore: two cars, 1. 92 camry LE 2. 06 Pilot LX
BI $100000/300000
property damage 50000
uninsured motorist $15000/30000
uninsured motorist property $3500
waiver of collision deductible (vehicle 2 only)
other than collision, $250 deductible(vehicle 2 only)
collision $250 dedcutible(vehicle 2 only)
total premium $1633, sounds good, just a little worried that the reputation of the Explore.
many thanks
For any scheduled service you will have to pay. you can go to any dealer or authorized service center.
Insurance looks ok to me but why only for vehicle 2????? If you have good driving history then you can get quote as low as 1400 for two cars fully covered(if you are in california). I have never heard of explore though. Did you try Allstate, AAA, farmers?
For extended warranty use online sites(hondawarrantyinfo.com or google for more ) and if the dealer matches the price then you can take from the dealer as well.
I am in bay area too and I bought my 2006 EX 2WD last week for about $1275 below invoice. honda is also giving good financing options untill jan 3rd 2006.
Here's what I got:
$29,900: including cargo tray, rear splash guards and a remote starter. This also includes the $550 destination--which a lot of dealers like to try to stick you with as an additional "fee".
Also gave me a reasonable trade-in deal on a 2003 VW Passat wagon.
Hope this helps.
This offer is from Open Road Honda in Edison, NJ. They have also sent me an offer to add a remote started along with this price.
talked to a friend who used to work at nanuet honda in westchester. his friend was able to get me a price of 31,218, including destination and prep charges. $50 over invoice, not bad. will wait to see if i can get that here on long island.
laxcoach
Has anyone ever heard anything negative about Open Road Honda?
thanks for the info.. i have called the open road honda dealer and left a message, waiting for dealer response.
Which dealer did you buy it from please? Is it leather?
Thanks
That amount to about $31,000 for the vehicle.
Also included: cargo tray, interior and exterior protection
How does this fare? It you all think it's good, I'll probably buy it tonight.
out the door with with Crossbar and Running Board all included. It pays to shop end of year. I would
negotiate as much as you can and try other dealers like we did here in Paramus NJ.
It included:
Paint Protection
Facric Protection
Pin Stripes
Wheel Lip Moldings
Mud Guards
Trunk Tray
Wheel Locks
My other friend bought another Pilot two days after me and also got similar kind of deal.
Somethings which can be negotiated for sure:
Delaers have 3% holdback(around $850)
destination fees is $550.
Good luck
I went back to the dealer, I guess I can only choose between the car alarm and the telflon job
The car alarm system is System 3000+ with following features
remote control transmitters
code hopping
Factory remote interface
status LED
Valet/Emergency Override switch
passive arming ignition lockout
remote keyless entry
starter disable
dual stage electronic shock sensor
]parking light flasher
pathway illumination
horn pulse generator
automatic rearm
remote panic
all entrance protection
dome light illumination
I think it is a fairly common alarm, neither Honda or viper product, I probably will go for the paint job. at least it is "warranted" for 5 years of paint damage caused by natrual forces, bird dropping tree sap etc. also with 5 years of internal fabric protection of food and drick spill etc. What do you think?
bascially it is a 300-400 dollar job. I am sorry to say this car buying experience makes me lose all trust in car salesmen. Even today when I returnned to the dealer, their customer service still try to convince me not to cancel the extended warranty with a very unpleasant warning tone.
one last question, my car label said 75% parts are from US and canada, 20% from Japan, engine is built in alabama, transmission built in Japan, is this true with all Pilots?
$25,425.64 this included dest;
total out the door price was $27,269.18 (tax, tags, etc).
Was very happy with the dealership and people there. Told them on the phone ahead of time what I would pay. They honored the terms when I got there and I was in and out of the dealership. I believe they had some 05 models still as well. Just wondering if this was a good deal. No one in NJ had a Silver model in LX...was worth the drive.
Cancel th extended warranty and take it online. dont worry about the customer service tone. you still have one card in your hand. Honda Inc would send you a satisfaction survey and if you provide bad score in that one it would affect dealership relationship with Honda.
Information on car label is correct and is true for all Pilot.
Good luck and a very happy new year.
Happy new year again.
$30500 for car including $550 destination charge at Honda of Seattle with the 2.9% financing for 36mo. Costco price was 31,040. Another dealership offered the same thing and threw in the wheel locks and splash guards (assuming they actually had the car) - but they were 45 min away and I had already spent out test driving time at H of S and they had gone and gotten the car from Tacoma so it was on the lot. So I gave them the business. Plus they are the closest dealership so it wasn't worth the extra drive. It still took hours to go through all the paperwork and various BS. But we drove it home and got the sales tax break for 2005.
Judging by the price quotes I'm seeing from other locations, Seattle seems like a higher priced market.
Also, you can hear the engine a little bit when door is closed, the hood got hot for idling for 5 minutes, are there all normal?
