Yes, If you go to their website and enter the model you want, within seconds you can get an instant quote. Also, you can check their inventory for the color, make, and model you may be looking for.

Seeking best prices today (less TTL)
I am in Texas so Taxes will be 6.25%
Title and license will run $250 or so.

I got an InstaQuote from Open Road in NJ for $24,953 in Sage Brush Pearl.

I know flying there will cost me, but maybe worth it. Advice if in Houston?

Thanks very much for any and all comments.

I just got a 2006 Honda Pilot 4WD EX-L with Navigation system in the Chicago area (western suburbs). Here are the details.

    Price of Vehicle: $28,659
Accessories: $1243 (Chrome side steps, cross bars, mud guards, pin stripe)
    Doc Fee: 58
    Tax at 6.5%: 1947
    License& Title: 143

Out the Door Total (OTD): $32050.00 (Odometer: 8 miles)

I thought I squeezed out every penny I could out of these guys until I saw posts with even lower OTD prices. But I am still happy with the deal and the vehicle, especially the navigation system.

I check with Open Road for EXL 4WD w /DVD is $27449, but it does not include Destination. You must be careful! Plus I find shiping is about $1200 from NJ to NM. Drive is about 200mile. So I decide go with Reliance in honda.

The following is the lowest quote I received from several dealers around Atlanta and neighboring cities so far. Does anyone have a better deal for similar vehicle in GA? How much room will I have for negociation? Thanks.

    2006 Honda Pilot LX 2WD is :
    Base E Price : $ 20,644.00
    Destination: $ 550.00
    Vehicle Purchase Price: $ 21,194.00
    Documentation: $378.00 documentation
    Titling fee: $ 22
Plus sales tax (6% or 7%)

This sounds like a great deal. In NC they say that can not hardly get a 2wd. I have been quoted 23,484 with extra fees making it 25,086 with no extras on an LX. Who is your dealer; it might be worth a ride to GA.

Drive with my "baby" car, :shades: EXL 4WD w Res from Reliance Honda in Huston to NM today. :D A couple hundred miles, but my wife and i are very exciting and feel the trip is realy worth. :)

I flow to Huston yesterday, and the dealer picked me up at airport. They even treat me a nice meal before going to their office. We had very pleasure talk. And I was told the towing package would be ready when we arrive their office.

As soon as my wife and I step into the showroom, the internet sales manager pull the car out and let me test drive. I checked the following on the car:
    1. Is that new? Yes, everything is shining. and interior plastic cover have not been taken off. Smell good.

    2. Milleage. about 60mile as they promised. Since I was told this car was transfered from another parking lot which is about 50miles away.

    3. Towing package: ready, brand new, clear and professinal install.

    4. All the factory-intall parts per Honda spec are there. Nothing is missed. ( they forget cargo net at beginning, but they get one right away for me)

    5. No unnecessary option was add-in. Two dealers gave me the basic quote lower than Reliance, but after they put about $400 options you don't need at all, and thier doc fee is $300 to $400, OTD is way too high.

    6. Test drive: smooth. I am falling in love with it right away.

After back to meet finance manager, all the figures are exactly same as they fax to me. When I turn down the extend warranty, Finance manager even did not ask me second time. No pressure at all.

OTD $29165, (only option I ask is towing package)
(excluding Tax, since I have to back home and pay NM tax)

Stay totally 2 hours in Reliance dealer office. Everything finished as they promised. No pressure and no suprise at all. It is totally different experience, comparing with my perious two car-purchasing in chicago area. First one, I run into a typical "manager - salesman talk loop". Second time, it took 12hour hassel and I felt so sad after driving that car back home.

Oh, when we were ready to leave the dealership, we found car is ready with full-tank gas. It is small thing, but it shows they are honest and opening dealer to deal with.

Now I am watch my car in the garage and no regret at all.

By the way, additional cost you may concern:

    Flight: two person is $350.
Gas back to home: $100 ( excluding first full tank is free)
    Time: 10 hours.

I would recommand Reliance Honda for your consideration, if you search a honest, good deal without risk. They are really straight-talk and dealer too. The three managers I talked are very nice and polite.

I also like to send my great thanks to edmunds.com and this forum. With all your help and info, I found a great deal and dealership I can never imagine.

Hope you all get a nice deal.

I had another lengthy conversation with Reliance Honda (the Sales Manager) and we have reached a tentative agreement that falls between their original quote and the Open Road price.

The gentleman I talked to seems VERY forthright and at this point I have no reservations about dealing with Reliance - they come across as "stand up" people. I will post here once the deal is done, which should be this weekend or next at the latest.

I will be paying somewhat more than the Open Road quote, but less than dealerships in Dallas will likely offer.

I've got a lot of respect for dealers that will offer a really fair price up front, rather than insisting I do the legwork and then let them 'beat' the best price I can bring them. A dealer here would probably match or beat Reliance's price, but I'm not even going to try. The guy that is honest and fair up front deserves the business - I'm not interested in 'the game'.
  • hgbeehgbee Member Posts: 38
I agree with you. I hate "game". I just got my one back from reliance. They had faxed all the numbers with VIN before I came down. They also offer to shot pics the car to confirm what you will get. I really like the way they handle the business.
  • hgbeehgbee Member Posts: 38
That must be first hand and accurate info. So End of July, not just like other deal claim, it is just good at end of today....
Thanks for such info and be standing up

    irishrover3, was your quote for a 2WD or a 4WD?
  • mdredmondmdredmond Member Posts: 24
    irishrover3 -

Give Reliance a shot at it, I bet they can get close on price, plus they're just down the road from you (Lake Jackson).

Here's the breakdown direct from the financing contract I signed:
Motor Vehicle $26,280.00 (that includes $550 destination)
    Doc Fee $45.00
    Sales Tax $1,908.56 (7.25%)
    License Fees $235.00
    CA Tire Fees $8.75
    Total OTD $28,477.31

Again, this is an '06 EX-L 4WD, no Navi or RES, and no additional accessories.

    Thank You,
    Jesse

"call them and ask them how much lower than OPEN ROAD they can do. If they are atleast 300-400 lower then I would put the deposit and get the vehicle. Also OPEN ROAD doc fee is over 369 dollars. DCH is only 129. So you can save over 200 anyway. Good luck"

I did ask them how much lower but they won't budge on giving any unless i'm going to make a deposit of $500 :confuse:

    tkuhn,

Is this AWD EX-L with or without leather?

    Regards.
  • dbrosdbros Member Posts: 81
Hey hgbee, Congratulations on your great deal with reliance!!

I've got a question for you though, Could you please specify how you did your dealings out of state like the financing, registration, sales tax, because I'm planning to do an out of state purchase and I have no idea how to do it. Thanks
  • dbrosdbros Member Posts: 81
When you say EX-L it is EX with Leather.
  • hgbeehgbee Member Posts: 38
    Thanks dbros.
I check a couple dealer about financing, my Local NM dealer told me it would be around 4.9 to 6.9% depend on credit. There is no 2.9% deal like Toyota runs now. To make easy for my deal, I take loan from my 401k acc, instead finance with dealer. But you can ask finance manager in Reliance first to see what kind finance rate they offer.

Reliance in Houston will mail the final docs to me, and I can bring it to local NM MVD to get title and registration. It would be $80 for me. dealer would not charge any tax, since you are from another state. And you must have driver license and address in another state.

When you go to your local MVD to get title and Registration, MVD will charge your local tax. Otherwise you would not get title and registration

    hope this helps
  • bolts619bolts619 Member Posts: 10
Thanks tapilot. To my surprise, my local dealer's quote came back lower than Open Road:

    2006 2WD EX-L with Navi in Silver
Open Road: $27,829 (excludes dest fee & TTL)
Santa Ana: $27,448 (excludes dest fee & TTL)

I wonder if it's because 2WD are less common than the 4WD.

Either way, it's still a great deal! thanks again and congrats on your new vehicle! I can't wait till we get ours...

    Quick info for you...

When paying cash for a vehicle most states have a tax exemption form for vehicles that will not be titled in the state where purchased. Therefore you can take the documentation along with the M.S.O. (once all proceeds/cash have been cashed and received by the selling dealer)and proceed with title work/registration in your home state (Don't let yourself get too frustrated... it's a lengthy process and you will be waiting on some of the documentation for a little while)

For those consumers who are financing... The burden now falls on the selling dealer to obtain all of the appropriate documents and forms as well as discovering and charging all of the applicable fees for your home state. (The Dealer is responsible to the Lender to assure Titling work is completed and in favor of the lien holder) As a Dealer we call the Department of transportation and your Tax office to discern the necessary paperwork and all applicable fees. If you purchase an Extended Service Contract we will determine whether your state charges a sales tax on it. Some states are EXTREMELY Challenging and some are easy. If you are financing with your credit union/bank we have worked with them in the past to have us sell the car to the customer and not charge any of the Home State taxes/fees and the credit union will then handle title work and essentially create TWO loans and then merge them. ONE for the Vehicle and ONE of all applicable tax/fees.

The bottom line is to have patience with the process and have good communication on both sides. We, as dealers, have had a lot of experience with out of state purchases and want everything to go smoothly.

    hope this helps!

    The Anonymous dealer

P.S. Two quick points... 1)Finance managers do not like doing out of state deals. Don't forget to cut them a 'lil slack! (They get stuck with all the leg work!) :P 2)Most dealers will have you sign a document making the customer responsible for discrepancies in taxes and fees. (Just have a little money set aside just in case... the taxes are legitiment. Everyone can make mistakes  )
  • dbrosdbros Member Posts: 81
Thanks hgbee, you can actually drive the vehicle out of the dealership without the registration? What documents do you have to show if ever pulled over by a state trooper? hehehe its funny but it happens! I know that you have to get the insurance before you take the vehicle but when it comes to the documents what do they provide to you.

So you just actually pay the price of the vehicle and tow package? Can you break it down if its fine with you. Thanks in advance!
  • dbrosdbros Member Posts: 81
Thanks dwilliams for that info! Do you have any idea what interest rates going on right now with honda pilot? Thanks.
  • dwilliamdwilliam Member Posts: 128
Interest rates are a touchy area (Can ceate a conflict of interest between dealer and lender to quote to a nationwide forum as lending rates change by region.)

Suffice to say there are no "Special" interest rates currently offered and are at current market rates based upon credit file score and credit history. Once you have decided upon your ultimate dealer they can obtain the information necessary for credit approval and can discuss this with you prior to delivery.

SOME DEALERS will REFUSE to discuss this information over the phone. It is your decision to pursue this in person. Don't automatically assume that there is something fishy. (Also don't assume there isn't!) I spent 8 years as a Finance director and depending upon the dealership I was or wasn't allowed to discuss rates with consumers (over the phone) and most of the time I still had a rate lower than the customer was able to obtain. Again... Don't assume the worst or the best. If you are unsure about the comfort level then secure financing prior to delivery and give them the opportunity to match it. Even if the dealer can only match the rate it is not a bad idea to let them handle the financing due to convenience and also everything will be DONE when you leave the dealership! (I might be baised on that last one... being a dealer and all ;) )

No problem that's a safe answer, at least we have an open internet manager in this forum and well informed of what happening! Your cool man! :);)
  • cincicarbuyercincicarbuyer Member Posts: 4
Anyone know what the Cinci Area doc fees run? How about the license fee? I am thinking that adding a tow package to the 4WD will add about $1000 to the cost -- is that about right? :)
  • dwilliamdwilliam Member Posts: 128
cost for full towing pkg should be 1052.00
  • kellykkellyk Member Posts: 5
I just got a quote for EX-L AWD for $27281. Open road gave me 26031. I can't have them go down more. Should I get it???
  • tkuhntkuhn Member Posts: 8
    green guy1,
the quote was for a AWD w/ leather. However, I think we might go for no Navi at this point to save more money. I was just quoted over the phone $29,790 for a 4WD ex w/ leather no navi and no fees included. What do you think? I'm going to shop around some more.
  • tkuhntkuhn Member Posts: 8
thanks for the breakdown, I'll see what I can get w/ your info!
  • hgbeehgbee Member Posts: 38
Yes, dealer will get a temp plate (good for 14 days) for you to drive home. I call my insurance Geico. I was told my existing insurance plan cover my new purchased car for first 30day before I notice them to add this one in the plan. I drive 900miles back home. no road block, and trouble from police.

    Car $28179
    Tow $851
    docs about $150
that is all when I left Reliance.
  • luvasuvluvasuv Member Posts: 14
dwilliam, Thanks for the information you have made available to this forum. You've made a great forum even better :D

If you can, a question concerning the current incentives. I'm assuming by your post that dealerships have until the end of July to meet their 110% quota mark set in June. Once met, how long does Honda continue to 'kick in' the max incentive?

Any insight is much appreciated, as your previous insights have already been.
  • dbrosdbros Member Posts: 81
Good price hgbee! :surprise: You have your reasons why you are recommending reliance man. I'm actually trying to delay my purchase because the plane tickets just cost a lot right now... Thanks again for the info :)
  • dwilliamdwilliam Member Posts: 128
    Here is the Skinny!

Once the 110.01% is met... Honda "Kicks in" the Max incentive regardless of how many Pilots an individual dealer sells.

  • hgbeehgbee Member Posts: 38
no problem. I just think if one did a good job, they should get good business and win the reputation.
  • irishrover3irishrover3 Member Posts: 10
I am trying with Reliance in Lake Jackson. So far they seem very direct and forthright which I appreciate. Told me there will be no hidden desitniation fees and that try and sell car w/o dealer addons and features.

They are trying to locate the EX-L 2WD I am looking for - I will come back with experience once is worked out.
  • tkuhntkuhn Member Posts: 8
    hey dwilliam,
I don't get it. I'm working on An EX-L 4WD quote from dealers around the Seattle area and the lowest phone quote so far is 29,580 not including any fees or TTL. According to some of the quotes on Edmunds, this is way too high. How do these buyers get the dealer talked down so low? Does it take going back and forth many many times?
    Anyone have advice?
  • dwilliamdwilliam Member Posts: 128
It may simply be a matter of Location, Location, Location! If Pilots sell extremely well in and around your surrounding area (which is a good bet in Seattle if memory serves me well) then they might not feel the rush to be agressive. Dealers cannot "Price fix" but if an entire area/region of Dealers are not aggresively seeking growth business it would have an impact on how much they discount their vehicles. If I didn't have stiff competition in our area I wouldn't be as aggresive (I know you good folks don't want to hear that... but it a FOR PROFIT business ;) )

You might need to get out of your home state or perhaps load up your breifcase with price quotes from other dealers and walk in the door to your local dealer. I know it's the traditional and less fun way to buy a car but maybe these dealers need to know you are serious.

I wish you the best of luck and I hope you get the price you want.

p.s. Don't be shy about telling them you will buy out of state!

    The Anonymous Dealer :shades:

p.s. Another peice of info... There may not be any dealer in your area close to the 110% goal set by Honda and may not be ABLE to be as competitive.

    Hey,

Would you shoot me an email? Mine is publc and your's is not.

    Thanks!
  • dwilliamdwilliam Member Posts: 128
I apologize. Mine is private for a reason. I have committed to not use this site as a means of solicitation, advertisement, or any other means to direct consumers to our dealership. (no matter how much I would like to :) )

Therefore I must decline on principal.

I appreciate your offer though. If it is not too private you are welcome to post here.

(To explain further: If I gave you my E-mail address and you bought a car from me it is the same as me sucking you into my dealership off of Edmunds car site for free... very unfair)
  • hgbeehgbee Member Posts: 38
I agree. I did same thing to my local dealer. The general manager told me that he just need sell 30 polits per year and he show me his bottem rock price is $2000 higher than my internet quote. And he had no intention to beat it. Instead, he told me I should jump on the flight right away for that deal, which I did.

I am dealing with dealers for 4WD EXL with Navi. Got Turnersville to agree for 28,700 including all chrgs excluding ttl. But now they are getting fishy.

Anyways, one philly dealership is offereing the same one for 28,400 inclusive of all charges (except ttl). Today I will be making in deposit and they will locate the car for us by mon-tuesday for "take home".

Let me know if someone else is interested too... this will help us and the dealership.. i guess

Will update you guys when deal is finalized and I get the car keys!

How did you get them down to such a good price? I'm looking for the same pilot as you but w/ NO Navi and the lowest out of 4 dealerships so far is $29,100. I told them about some of the deals on Edmunds and one sales guy said that some honda dealerships around the country have special incentives, etc. w/ Honda that they might not tell the customer about. Did you start out at a much higher price and talk them down a lot?

    irishrover3,

Keep talking to Reliance, they've done us good and my wife & I are flying to Houston on Saturday to pick up our EX-LN. Woo hoo! (that means I'm happy 'cuz my wife's off my back!).

Don't give it to another dealer that promises you a hundred bucks off Reliance's price (after you and Reliance have done all the work) - a hundred bucks is peanuts in the big picture & we need dealers like Reliance around for the good deal on our next car!

I hope it works out for you!

Can anyone tell me what the appropriate lease residual is for a 2006 Pilot EX-L-RES (2WD) for a 3yr lease @ 12,000 miles/yr and 15,000/miles/yr. I was quoted 49% by a finance manger today and that seems very low. I am in AZ if location influences residuals. Thanks in advance for your help!
  • mdredmondmdredmond Member Posts: 24
Yikes! I'm not into leasing because it's generally a bad deal (go read The Millionaire Next Door), but 49% on a Honda after 36,000 miles is ridiculous. At that, buy the car and sell it (private party) and you'll be thou$sands ahead. Just my .02 - I know little about leasing other than 'smart money don't do it'.

Leasing is for those people who think today is somehow more important than tomorrow.

I'm driving a 1998 Acura Integra with 185k on it. That works out to about $3200 a year. Pretty good, IMHO. I haven't had a car payment in 4 years. The difference is in my 401(k) waiting for me to retire...

I hate to seem preachy, but leasing is badbadbad! BUY a car (whatever finances allow) and drive it into the ground!
