Yes, If you go to their website and enter the model you want, within seconds you can get an instant quote. Also, you can check their inventory for the color, make, and model you may be looking for.
I am in Texas so Taxes will be 6.25%
Title and license will run $250 or so.
I got an InstaQuote from Open Road in NJ for $24,953 in Sage Brush Pearl.
I know flying there will cost me, but maybe worth it. Advice if in Houston?
Thanks very much for any and all comments.
Price of Vehicle: $28,659
Accessories: $1243 (Chrome side steps, cross bars, mud guards, pin stripe)
Doc Fee: 58
Tax at 6.5%: 1947
License& Title: 143
Out the Door Total (OTD): $32050.00 (Odometer: 8 miles)
I thought I squeezed out every penny I could out of these guys until I saw posts with even lower OTD prices. But I am still happy with the deal and the vehicle, especially the navigation system.
2006 Honda Pilot LX 2WD is :
Base E Price : $ 20,644.00
Destination: $ 550.00
Vehicle Purchase Price: $ 21,194.00
Documentation: $378.00 documentation
Titling fee: $ 22
Plus sales tax (6% or 7%)
I flow to Huston yesterday, and the dealer picked me up at airport. They even treat me a nice meal before going to their office. We had very pleasure talk. And I was told the towing package would be ready when we arrive their office.
As soon as my wife and I step into the showroom, the internet sales manager pull the car out and let me test drive. I checked the following on the car:
1. Is that new? Yes, everything is shining. and interior plastic cover have not been taken off. Smell good.
2. Milleage. about 60mile as they promised. Since I was told this car was transfered from another parking lot which is about 50miles away.
3. Towing package: ready, brand new, clear and professinal install.
4. All the factory-intall parts per Honda spec are there. Nothing is missed. ( they forget cargo net at beginning, but they get one right away for me)
5. No unnecessary option was add-in. Two dealers gave me the basic quote lower than Reliance, but after they put about $400 options you don't need at all, and thier doc fee is $300 to $400, OTD is way too high.
6. Test drive: smooth. I am falling in love with it right away.
After back to meet finance manager, all the figures are exactly same as they fax to me. When I turn down the extend warranty, Finance manager even did not ask me second time. No pressure at all.
OTD $29165, (only option I ask is towing package)
(excluding Tax, since I have to back home and pay NM tax)
Stay totally 2 hours in Reliance dealer office. Everything finished as they promised. No pressure and no suprise at all. It is totally different experience, comparing with my perious two car-purchasing in chicago area. First one, I run into a typical "manager - salesman talk loop". Second time, it took 12hour hassel and I felt so sad after driving that car back home.
Oh, when we were ready to leave the dealership, we found car is ready with full-tank gas. It is small thing, but it shows they are honest and opening dealer to deal with.
Now I am watch my car in the garage and no regret at all.
By the way, additional cost you may concern:
Flight: two person is $350.
Gas back to home: $100 ( excluding first full tank is free)
Time: 10 hours.
I would recommand Reliance Honda for your consideration, if you search a honest, good deal without risk. They are really straight-talk and dealer too. The three managers I talked are very nice and polite.
I also like to send my great thanks to edmunds.com and this forum. With all your help and info, I found a great deal and dealership I can never imagine.
Hope you all get a nice deal.
The gentleman I talked to seems VERY forthright and at this point I have no reservations about dealing with Reliance - they come across as "stand up" people. I will post here once the deal is done, which should be this weekend or next at the latest.
I will be paying somewhat more than the Open Road quote, but less than dealerships in Dallas will likely offer.
I've got a lot of respect for dealers that will offer a really fair price up front, rather than insisting I do the legwork and then let them 'beat' the best price I can bring them. A dealer here would probably match or beat Reliance's price, but I'm not even going to try. The guy that is honest and fair up front deserves the business - I'm not interested in 'the game'.
Thanks for such info and be standing up
Give Reliance a shot at it, I bet they can get close on price, plus they're just down the road from you (Lake Jackson).
Motor Vehicle $26,280.00 (that includes $550 destination)
Doc Fee $45.00
Sales Tax $1,908.56 (7.25%)
License Fees $235.00
CA Tire Fees $8.75
Total OTD $28,477.31
Again, this is an '06 EX-L 4WD, no Navi or RES, and no additional accessories.
Thank You,
Jesse
I did ask them how much lower but they won't budge on giving any unless i'm going to make a deposit of $500 :confuse:
Is this AWD EX-L with or without leather?
Regards.
I've got a question for you though, Could you please specify how you did your dealings out of state like the financing, registration, sales tax, because I'm planning to do an out of state purchase and I have no idea how to do it. Thanks
I check a couple dealer about financing, my Local NM dealer told me it would be around 4.9 to 6.9% depend on credit. There is no 2.9% deal like Toyota runs now. To make easy for my deal, I take loan from my 401k acc, instead finance with dealer. But you can ask finance manager in Reliance first to see what kind finance rate they offer.
Reliance in Houston will mail the final docs to me, and I can bring it to local NM MVD to get title and registration. It would be $80 for me. dealer would not charge any tax, since you are from another state. And you must have driver license and address in another state.
When you go to your local MVD to get title and Registration, MVD will charge your local tax. Otherwise you would not get title and registration
hope this helps
2006 2WD EX-L with Navi in Silver
Open Road: $27,829 (excludes dest fee & TTL)
Santa Ana: $27,448 (excludes dest fee & TTL)
I wonder if it's because 2WD are less common than the 4WD.
Either way, it's still a great deal! thanks again and congrats on your new vehicle! I can't wait till we get ours...
When paying cash for a vehicle most states have a tax exemption form for vehicles that will not be titled in the state where purchased. Therefore you can take the documentation along with the M.S.O. (once all proceeds/cash have been cashed and received by the selling dealer)and proceed with title work/registration in your home state (Don't let yourself get too frustrated... it's a lengthy process and you will be waiting on some of the documentation for a little while)
For those consumers who are financing... The burden now falls on the selling dealer to obtain all of the appropriate documents and forms as well as discovering and charging all of the applicable fees for your home state. (The Dealer is responsible to the Lender to assure Titling work is completed and in favor of the lien holder) As a Dealer we call the Department of transportation and your Tax office to discern the necessary paperwork and all applicable fees. If you purchase an Extended Service Contract we will determine whether your state charges a sales tax on it. Some states are EXTREMELY Challenging and some are easy. If you are financing with your credit union/bank we have worked with them in the past to have us sell the car to the customer and not charge any of the Home State taxes/fees and the credit union will then handle title work and essentially create TWO loans and then merge them. ONE for the Vehicle and ONE of all applicable tax/fees.
The bottom line is to have patience with the process and have good communication on both sides. We, as dealers, have had a lot of experience with out of state purchases and want everything to go smoothly.
hope this helps!

P.S. Two quick points... 1)Finance managers do not like doing out of state deals. Don't forget to cut them a 'lil slack! (They get stuck with all the leg work!) :P 2)Most dealers will have you sign a document making the customer responsible for discrepancies in taxes and fees. (Just have a little money set aside just in case... the taxes are legitiment. Everyone can make mistakes
So you just actually pay the price of the vehicle and tow package? Can you break it down if its fine with you. Thanks in advance!
Suffice to say there are no "Special" interest rates currently offered and are at current market rates based upon credit file score and credit history. Once you have decided upon your ultimate dealer they can obtain the information necessary for credit approval and can discuss this with you prior to delivery.
SOME DEALERS will REFUSE to discuss this information over the phone. It is your decision to pursue this in person. Don't automatically assume that there is something fishy. (Also don't assume there isn't!) I spent 8 years as a Finance director and depending upon the dealership I was or wasn't allowed to discuss rates with consumers (over the phone) and most of the time I still had a rate lower than the customer was able to obtain. Again... Don't assume the worst or the best. If you are unsure about the comfort level then secure financing prior to delivery and give them the opportunity to match it. Even if the dealer can only match the rate it is not a bad idea to let them handle the financing due to convenience and also everything will be DONE when you leave the dealership! (I might be baised on that last one... being a dealer and all

the quote was for a AWD w/ leather. However, I think we might go for no Navi at this point to save more money. I was just quoted over the phone $29,790 for a 4WD ex w/ leather no navi and no fees included. What do you think? I'm going to shop around some more.
Car $28179
Tow $851
docs about $150
that is all when I left Reliance.
If you can, a question concerning the current incentives. I'm assuming by your post that dealerships have until the end of July to meet their 110% quota mark set in June. Once met, how long does Honda continue to 'kick in' the max incentive?
Any insight is much appreciated, as your previous insights have already been.
Once the 110.01% is met... Honda "Kicks in" the Max incentive regardless of how many Pilots an individual dealer sells.

They are trying to locate the EX-L 2WD I am looking for - I will come back with experience once is worked out.
I don't get it. I'm working on An EX-L 4WD quote from dealers around the Seattle area and the lowest phone quote so far is 29,580 not including any fees or TTL. According to some of the quotes on Edmunds, this is way too high. How do these buyers get the dealer talked down so low? Does it take going back and forth many many times?
Anyone have advice?
You might need to get out of your home state or perhaps load up your breifcase with price quotes from other dealers and walk in the door to your local dealer. I know it's the traditional and less fun way to buy a car but maybe these dealers need to know you are serious.
I wish you the best of luck and I hope you get the price you want.
p.s. Don't be shy about telling them you will buy out of state!
The Anonymous Dealer :shades:
p.s. Another peice of info... There may not be any dealer in your area close to the 110% goal set by Honda and may not be ABLE to be as competitive.
Would you shoot me an email? Mine is publc and your's is not.
Thanks!
Therefore I must decline on principal.
I appreciate your offer though. If it is not too private you are welcome to post here.
(To explain further: If I gave you my E-mail address and you bought a car from me it is the same as me sucking you into my dealership off of Edmunds car site for free... very unfair)
Anyways, one philly dealership is offereing the same one for 28,400 inclusive of all charges (except ttl). Today I will be making in deposit and they will locate the car for us by mon-tuesday for "take home".
Let me know if someone else is interested too... this will help us and the dealership.. i guess
Will update you guys when deal is finalized and I get the car keys!
Keep talking to Reliance, they've done us good and my wife & I are flying to Houston on Saturday to pick up our EX-LN. Woo hoo! (that means I'm happy 'cuz my wife's off my back!).
Don't give it to another dealer that promises you a hundred bucks off Reliance's price (after you and Reliance have done all the work) - a hundred bucks is peanuts in the big picture & we need dealers like Reliance around for the good deal on our next car!
I hope it works out for you!

Leasing is for those people who think today is somehow more important than tomorrow.
I'm driving a 1998 Acura Integra with 185k on it. That works out to about $3200 a year. Pretty good, IMHO. I haven't had a car payment in 4 years. The difference is in my 401(k) waiting for me to retire...
I hate to seem preachy, but leasing is badbadbad! BUY a car (whatever finances allow) and drive it into the ground!
