Congratulations on your new Pilot. I believe that all DCH dealerships can offer the same price since they are all owned by one person, a guy with the initials D.C.H. :) Had to ask my salesman what DCH stands for. I'm happy that you got the same great deal I got. Enjor your Pilot.

MaryMarg, I am picking up my EXL from Hopkins Honda this morning. they tried to sell me the rust coat/interior protection/clear coat package. No way.

Hopkins Honda was not getting near these type of prices until someone else on this board showed them the price he was seeing on this board, and bought at Hopkins.

I've been in the market for a Honda Pilot 2WD this past week. Below are some of the quotes I'm receiving.

    Bankston

    2WD EX-L $27,662 + 550 (destination) + TTL

    2WD EX-LRes $29,099 + 550 (destination) + TTL

    David McDavid

    2WD EX-L $29,162 + 550 (destination) + TTL

Is anyone getting better prices in the DFW or surrounding areas?
  • npetersomanpetersoma Member Posts: 1
We just picked up our new 2006 EX 2WD Pilot today. Thanks to this discussion group, we negotiated a total price of $24,000, which included the $550 destination fee (the sticker was $30,095 and invoice was $27,135). We used the 4.9% financing for 60 months, and to top it off, we had received a postcard in the mail from Honda that it would make our first payment on a Pilot, so we will receive a check back in the amount of the first payment! :shades:

The dealership was friendly and not high pressure - O'Daniel in Omaha.

Thanks to everyone who has posted on this board - it helped us set a price goal, and the information in the board helped tremendously in our negotiations!

I think prices are quite high in DFW area. I did quite a search but the prices are not comming down. I am planning to drive till Houston to get the car at right price.
  • sanjayksanjayk Member Posts: 5
Go to Lute Riley through the guy who provides the internet quotes. Here is what I got
27,000+TTL for EXL 2WD (including pro package)

29,000+TTL for EXL 2WD w/nav (including pro pack)

I am choosing the one with Nav. I hope I did ok given that no dealer was offering anything lower than that.
I had better offers from Reliance Honda in Lake Jackson
    28,188+65(inventory fee)+Tax+177(licence etc.) for EXL 2WD w/Nav.

So you can save another $800 if you are ready to drive for 300+ miles. I choose not to.

I bought an EXL 2WD w/ Nav that included Rear Mud Guards, Crossbars, Moonroof Visor, Cargo Cover, Wheel Locks, & Pin Stripes. My price was $27,900. Not too bad!! Bought at the end of June at Freeman Honda.

Actually very easy. He can fax a copy of the title to you along with a statement that he is willing to let you trade it in on your deal. He will need to sign the back of the title (or front, depending on state)

Make sure he is available by phone so the dealership can confirm he is willing to trade in the vehicle (since you get the tax credit and he receives no value) In addition he will need to fax down a copy of his driver's license so the dealer can compare signatures. Also it is not a bad idea for him to fed-ex the original "permission to trade" form including notarization.

Some dealerships may not even care about most of the above but it protects THEM, YOU, and the TRADE. We had one case where a parent died and another relative disputed the validity of the same situation you are proposing!

No power of attny should be required.

How many days are a few more days, and what exactly are the incentives?

    Thanks!

I just bought a honda pilot exl from Hopkins honda in MN and I think that the deals are some dealer kickback if you buy before the end of July.
The cheap financing, 2.9 for 36 months and 4.9 for 60 months may also be limited. That is all I know.
  • ch1981ch1981 Member Posts: 2
Thanks so much for the info! I really appreciate it!!! :)
  • sanjayksanjayk Member Posts: 5
How about the special financing? Did they have that program at that time? My guess could be that the dealers are not comming down because customers are attracted because of the special financing. I shopped a lot and could not get a lower price. I called almost every dealer and asked then if they would match the quotes that I have, and each one of them said "NO". Most of them were like "WOW how could somebody offer you such a great price". Well it could be just because of time.
  • marymargmarymarg Member Posts: 7
I forgot to add that the base price including distination was about 26,550 for the exl. The dealer kickback is what allows them to sell for lower prices on cars bought before the end of July. I heard from two dealers that said that they could only honor the lower price if it was purchased by July 30th. That may be true or not, just what I was told.

    Hello,

Could anyone who has recently purchased a brand new car and imported it to Canada, please answer this question?

The US Customs requires the original title of the car sent to them 72 hours prior to you crossing the border with the car. But for a brand new car, did the dealer give you this document? Or was sending them the bill of sale suffiecient enough?

    Thank you,
    CarLover.

When I bought the car, the special financing was not in place. I just paid TTL & a $50 doc fee.

How much are others being charged for the towing package? I was quoted $1,500 which seems pretty steep.
  • jimmy5150jimmy5150 Member Posts: 30
I thought the special financing was until Sept 5th?
  • jimmy5150jimmy5150 Member Posts: 30
I think the parts alone are $600plus.....

Looks like $900 in labor....At $80/hr, looks like a full day and a half for installation.

I will be traveling through Omaha this week could you let me know the name of the dealership you dealt with so that I could email them? thanks

    carlover10,
I'm about to import a Pilot to Canada shortly. From what i've been hearing the title document for a new car is called MSO (Manufacturer Statement of Origin ?) aka certificate of origin. Make sure you get this from your dealer.
  • alanrosenbergalanrosenberg Member Posts: 28
1500 for the tow package seems real steep. In the seattle area they are quoting 1200, but really, if you are just towing something real light or using the tow hitch for a bike rack, you don't need the whole tow package, which includes engine and transmission coolers-- if you are towing anything heavy like a boat, definatly get the whole package--and maybe some other SUV!
  • dwilliamdwilliam Member Posts: 128
the fulltow pkg shouldn't cost more than 1,100

I should know as we have added about 5 in the last week

REPEATED INFO FOR CANADIAN BUYERS IN THE U.S.

You are probably about to void the warranty on your vehicle! Better you know now than later! Vehicles made for U.S. sale are made for just that... U.S. sale. And will likely void any warranty if transported outside of the U.S.

This thread has Ratified this same statement

AFAIK, the deals run through the end of July. Depending on whether your dealer has made his sales targets, he'll receive up to $3000 back on every Pilot he's sold during the promotion, retroactively. That's a great deal for you. A few weeks ago I bought a Pilot EX-L + Nav for almost $7000 under sticker from Reliance Honda in Lake Jackson, TX. It was such a good deal I came very close to buying TWO!
  • mdredmondmdredmond Member Posts: 24
    TAD,

    Questions re warranty...

What happens if a U.S. buyer moves to Canada?

What happens if a Canadian buyer buys his car in the U.S. and brings it back to the U.S. for warranty work (very doable in border areas)?

    Just curious.

Thanks everybody for all the information that you provide on this website!! It really helped me out get mine at long last with the best deal I can get!! :P

I purchased mine at Conicelli Honda at Conshohocken, P.A. for 28,030.00 including mud guards, cargo net, destination and dealers fee if theres one!?! :P. To make the long story short I'm from Florida and I sent e-mails to everybody from FL, TX, GA, NJ, and etc. and I received tons of calls and man it was STRESSFUL!!!  . and there's only two internet managers that I like being straight forward and honest, one is Reliance Honda at Lake Jackson, TX but they don't have the color I like and Conicelli Honda at P.A. They were excellent individuals the one from conicelli is a lady (african-american decent) and boy she treated me well no hidden charges at all and I really recommend her!! OTD was 28,100 the $70 was for Temporary tag, Tire something and documentation fee. I don't have to pay TTL because I'm Out of State customer and I told them that I'll do it myself. :P :P The only problem that I had was to travel 1,193.5 miles after that  but I enjoyed the travel because I was able to visit relatives up north and the savings that I got for doing it. It's really worth it!!! :P :P

    OK

I am in the process of purchasing a 2006 Honda Pilot EXL 2WD. Sent out new request today. Best offer so far is an internet price of $25,995.00. I am in Georgia so with doc fee, TTL we are talking about a drive out of around $28,100.00. Another dealership which is an hour and 45 mnutes away is wanting to better the offer. Understanding that oil changes and free car washes wont amount to nothing due to the distance. What would be a reasonable counter considering the drive?

    Anxiously awaiting,
    Dara in Conyers Georgiaimage

You didn't provide the amount the other dealer is going to offer you, I'm assuming that they just told you when you go there they are going to tell you how better is they're offer, right?! I won't walk into that kind of trap... Call the other dealer tell them how much are they going offer you because you don't want to go that far for nothing and ask them to send you the amount in your e-mail, find out what are the hidden charges like destination fee, dealer's fee, documentation fee because it varies from dealer to dealer you will be amazed by how much the difference is! If they are sending you e-mails check the fine prints at the bottom they might be hiding something. :P

If they give a good price give your local dealer a call or a visit if you know the salesman and tell them of how much is your quote and let them beat it or meet the price. :)

There are some people over here trying to refer Gwinnett Place Honda at Duluth, G.A. I did try to do business with them but beware of there hidden charges usually if they e-mail you will find fine prints at the bottom!!
  • dladybdladyb Member Posts: 5
    Thanks

After reading your response I sent another E-mail and asked for an itemized drive out price quote if they could better the one from Conyers. I asked if they could meet the Conyers price and throw in a moon roof visor and 9 inch DVD player. I did indicate that I would not come in until I had an itemized quote.

    :)

Thanks very much for the insights you and others here have provided in my getting my Pilot EXL for a very good price this past weekend.

Earlier I mentioned I did sort of break a deal with an out of town dealer. It was legal, as the deposit was 100% refundable. I wanted to maybe give the salesman at the out of town dealership some sort of monetary compensation as he worked hard for me, yet didnt get the sale.

Would this be appropriate, and if so, what would be an appropriate amount?

    Thanks again to all

Did alot of homework and purchased James Bragg book. I basically I an idea of which dealers was going to be the ones with lowest prices .Open Road price was 26,131 on the net and 26,431 using the fax attack method.Once that I saw Open Road Internet site with a bunch disclaimers . I knew it was going to hell at the dealership .Open Road seems liek one the upsellers get in the dealership and all hell breaks lose . I also didn't like dest charge and fees they wanted to add on which would have brought the up in price 298 plus 550 for dest. It's the last week of the month the dest is his problem now . Dealing with Staten Island Honda seems to be easy SO Far. On Thrusday I just have to take The Boss Lady to sign a couple of papers . I just hoping the Finance guy doesn't try to get a couple of points of the end .

I am closing in on a deal Thrusday . With a 686 credit score what rate should get from american honda finance . I knwo the finance is goign to try to get some points

    No problem carlover10..
I just got off the phone with US customs at Pembina ND. The agent I talked to said if it's a new car, they don't require the 72 hour notice, just the MSO when you come to the crossing with the vehicle to be exported. That was the first I've ever heard of that. Maybe only Pembina ND? I re-confirmed what i was planning on doing and he said the 72 hour notice only applies to used vehicles. I was sure to get his name. My wife is going to call the border crossing later today to confirm what I heard...
  • vinayg1vinayg1 Member Posts: 28
You are right about $298 doc fee as high, but most of the dealers (if not all) will have SOME sort of Doc fee, and destination charge is as inevitable as taxes. I don't think ANY dealer, anywhere is going to waive or reduce the destination charge (they may quote you a price INCLUDING the charge, but it will be there).

TAD, please correct me if I am wrong.

And reading thru the forum, I haven't come across anyone who said they actually went to Open Road and had a bad experience. I am not saying that you should go to them, but just pointing out the fact.
  • caspirecaspire Member Posts: 2
Did somebody buy EX-L AWD recently or got a quote from dealers in SF Bay Area. I sent out internet requests last night and the best quote that I have got so far is 27,180 including dest charges. Did anyone do better than that after Honda announced the annual clearance? Thanks
  • keithrlkeithrl Member Posts: 32
A couple of weeks ago, I did get an internet quote of 26, 100 from Stockton Honda in Stockton.

I know thats a ways from SF, but it was a lot more of a ways for me.

However, I do not know if they would have added on internet fees later. It did seem too cheap to be serious.
  • callie1callie1 Member Posts: 1
Open Road has given me the lowest quote by $500 for a 4wd LX even including their fees (approx $22.7k incl dest and doc fee but not TTL). They also say they are offering 2.9% financing for 24 months.
If someone has had a bad experience there I hope they will post because I am trying to decide if it is worth it for me to drive 60 miles to buy from them.
  • pprashpprash Member Posts: 3
I got the following quote from one of the dealer in NJ as of today. Can any other dealer provide me with a better quote in NJ state?
    Selling price $27,799.86
    Dest 550.00
    Taxable price $28,349.86
    7% NJ Tax $1,984.50
    NJ tire tax $7.50
    DOC $198.00
    Registration $364.00
    Drive out price $30,903.86

This individual seems to have received $3000
in hidden dealer cash (3000 below invoice) in a friendly way without too much effort. This seems to jive with my buddy (the honda salesman's ) info that the incentive is $3000. Also got a spiff on the financing.

Thats useful information for a general target --- 3000+ off invoice. (plus the favorable financing)...6000-7000 off msrp.

There are tons of the 06's on the lots here in cincinnati. They are moving slowly because of low mpg rating. Perhaps incentive will carry on here till end of year.

    --jjf

We just picked up our new 2006 EX 2WD Pilot today. Thanks to this discussion group, we negotiated a total price of $24,000, which included the $550 destination fee (the sticker was $30,095 and invoice was $27,135). We used the 4.9% financing for 60 months, and to top it off, we had received a postcard in the mail from Honda that it would make our first payment on a Pilot, so we will receive a check back in the amount of the first payment!
  • dbrosdbros Member Posts: 81
If you read the post here long enough a lot of people have been receiving $3,000 below invoice since June 2006 and actually I got mine $3,688 below invoice or 7,165 below MSRP not to mention the 2.9% and 4.9% interest rate for 36 mos. and 60 mos. respectively.
  • suzintnsuzintn Member Posts: 19
Does anyone know the current lease money factor on the Pilot EXL? Also, is the 3,000.00 dealer incentive true?

    Thanks!

  • suzintnsuzintn Member Posts: 19
You should get 2nd or B tier BUT....the dealership can bump you to A or 1st tier if they want to get you the best rate. I'd insist on A tier!

I want to thank this forum for the information on Pilot pricing.

I purchased a 2WD EX-L on Saturday from Santa Ana Honda in Southern California for $25,002 which included destination, wheel locks, and front/rear mud guards. TTL added another $2,221.75. Price was negotiated via email. The salesperson was very professional. The whole experience was surprisingly pleasant, which I did not expect. Total time spent with the salesperson from email negotiations to driving away the new car was approximately 2 1/4 hours.

Just got back from doing the deal on a Pilot

    $26,391 Pilot with destination
    $49 Dealer processing charge
    $1,322 Sales tax

    Total Cash Price $27,762

Had $3700 in equity for trade

    Financed $24,124 @ 4.9% for 60 months = $459.00 per month

Included Mud guards, locking nuts and pinstripe.

    Purchased from Hagerstown Honda.

It was about a 3 hour process, beginning to end.

Not unpleasant at all, but stressful enough for me.

First trade number was 6K....by the time I did the deal it was at 9K....higher than KBB (2002 MazdA MPV, 31K, good condition)

I didn't really want to do the deal, I drag my feet a good bit, but I armed myself with the numbers and I thought it was a VERY fair deal. They were at the low end on the Pilot prices....trade was decent and the salesman was nice.

I tried to walk 3 times, but the last offer of 9K sealed the deal. I considered walking, but knew it was a fair deal. I love the "your 2002 Mazda is outfront with the keys in it, but hold on I just got another call from my manager".....thought that was a classic. I thought about pulling the "well, if you want to sell a car, give me a call at the end of the month"....but didnt' have the energy.

Once the payments weren't working, I was thrown a lease for 48 months. I have no issues with leasing, but like the idea of buying a Pilot to keep for a long long time.

Once I made it clear I wasn't leasing....72 month financing was the plan. Nope.

Then they started working on the trade and the numbers crunched for me.

$7500 off of MSRP, $700 more for my trade than I had hoped equals a Taffeta White Pilot for my wife.

Guess I'll keep driving my Scion... :confuse:

Thanks to all those who posted their deals....it really helped me out a lot.

The boss lady spoke with the finace guy at the dealer he claims the rate will be 7.39 which is crazy and boy did my wife let him have it . The highest I am willing to go is 5.9 with Honda. I was wondering what would happened if I added my credit score to the loan 726 . Ihave to do a some more shopping for rates .
  • dbrosdbros Member Posts: 81
#6732 post says that you are supposed to have 710 credit score to qualify for that 4.9% rate. You might qualify for that if you put it under your name.
  • dwilliamdwilliam Member Posts: 128
    Dear Keith,

As a Dealer I am elated to see you felt enough about your salesperson to want to give some small recompense. Most dealers have what they call a "mini" or minimum commisson. 90% of the time this will range from $75.00 to $100.00. A monetary gift of this amount would not be out of line. If you would like to give less feel free as I am sure the salesperson is not expecting anything from you. You may also consider an actual "Gift" around these amounts if you know enough about the person.

Also... Congratulations on your new Pilot purchase. I hope you enjoy it for many years to come. I hope you had a great buying experience where ever you purchased! And congratulations to all of the new Pilot owners in this Forum!
