Hopkins Honda was not getting near these type of prices until someone else on this board showed them the price he was seeing on this board, and bought at Hopkins.
Bankston
2WD EX-L $27,662 + 550 (destination) + TTL
2WD EX-LRes $29,099 + 550 (destination) + TTL
David McDavid
2WD EX-L $29,162 + 550 (destination) + TTL
Is anyone getting better prices in the DFW or surrounding areas?
The dealership was friendly and not high pressure - O'Daniel in Omaha.
Thanks to everyone who has posted on this board - it helped us set a price goal, and the information in the board helped tremendously in our negotiations!
27,000+TTL for EXL 2WD (including pro package)
29,000+TTL for EXL 2WD w/nav (including pro pack)
I am choosing the one with Nav. I hope I did ok given that no dealer was offering anything lower than that.
I had better offers from Reliance Honda in Lake Jackson
28,188+65(inventory fee)+Tax+177(licence etc.) for EXL 2WD w/Nav.
So you can save another $800 if you are ready to drive for 300+ miles. I choose not to.

Make sure he is available by phone so the dealership can confirm he is willing to trade in the vehicle (since you get the tax credit and he receives no value) In addition he will need to fax down a copy of his driver's license so the dealer can compare signatures. Also it is not a bad idea for him to fed-ex the original "permission to trade" form including notarization.
Some dealerships may not even care about most of the above but it protects THEM, YOU, and the TRADE. We had one case where a parent died and another relative disputed the validity of the same situation you are proposing!
No power of attny should be required.

(sorry for getting back with you so late)
Only a few more days of the HUGE Pilot incentive left! Rock and Roll people!!!
How many days are a few more days, and what exactly are the incentives?
Thanks!
The cheap financing, 2.9 for 36 months and 4.9 for 60 months may also be limited. That is all I know.
Could anyone who has recently purchased a brand new car and imported it to Canada, please answer this question?
The US Customs requires the original title of the car sent to them 72 hours prior to you crossing the border with the car. But for a brand new car, did the dealer give you this document? Or was sending them the bill of sale suffiecient enough?
Thank you,
CarLover.
Looks like $900 in labor....At $80/hr, looks like a full day and a half for installation.
I'm about to import a Pilot to Canada shortly. From what i've been hearing the title document for a new car is called MSO (Manufacturer Statement of Origin ?) aka certificate of origin. Make sure you get this from your dealer.
I should know as we have added about 5 in the last week

You are probably about to void the warranty on your vehicle! Better you know now than later! Vehicles made for U.S. sale are made for just that... U.S. sale. And will likely void any warranty if transported outside of the U.S.
This thread has Ratified this same statement

Questions re warranty...
What happens if a U.S. buyer moves to Canada?
What happens if a Canadian buyer buys his car in the U.S. and brings it back to the U.S. for warranty work (very doable in border areas)?
Just curious.
I purchased mine at Conicelli Honda at Conshohocken, P.A. for 28,030.00 including mud guards, cargo net, destination and dealers fee if theres one!?! :P. To make the long story short I'm from Florida and I sent e-mails to everybody from FL, TX, GA, NJ, and etc. and I received tons of calls and man it was STRESSFUL!!!  . and there's only two internet managers that I like being straight forward and honest, one is Reliance Honda at Lake Jackson, TX but they don't have the color I like and Conicelli Honda at P.A.
I am in the process of purchasing a 2006 Honda Pilot EXL 2WD. Sent out new request today. Best offer so far is an internet price of $25,995.00. I am in Georgia so with doc fee, TTL we are talking about a drive out of around $28,100.00. Another dealership which is an hour and 45 mnutes away is wanting to better the offer. Understanding that oil changes and free car washes wont amount to nothing due to the distance. What would be a reasonable counter considering the drive?
Anxiously awaiting,
Dara in Conyers Georgia
If they give a good price give your local dealer a call or a visit if you know the salesman and tell them of how much is your quote and let them beat it or meet the price.
There are some people over here trying to refer Gwinnett Place Honda at Duluth, G.A. I did try to do business with them but beware of there hidden charges usually if they e-mail you will find fine prints at the bottom!!
After reading your response I sent another E-mail and asked for an itemized drive out price quote if they could better the one from Conyers. I asked if they could meet the Conyers price and throw in a moon roof visor and 9 inch DVD player. I did indicate that I would not come in until I had an itemized quote.
Thanks very much for the insights you and others here have provided in my getting my Pilot EXL for a very good price this past weekend.
Earlier I mentioned I did sort of break a deal with an out of town dealer. It was legal, as the deposit was 100% refundable. I wanted to maybe give the salesman at the out of town dealership some sort of monetary compensation as he worked hard for me, yet didnt get the sale.
Would this be appropriate, and if so, what would be an appropriate amount?
Thanks again to all
I just got off the phone with US customs at Pembina ND. The agent I talked to said if it's a new car, they don't require the 72 hour notice, just the MSO when you come to the crossing with the vehicle to be exported. That was the first I've ever heard of that. Maybe only Pembina ND? I re-confirmed what i was planning on doing and he said the 72 hour notice only applies to used vehicles. I was sure to get his name. My wife is going to call the border crossing later today to confirm what I heard...
TAD, please correct me if I am wrong.
And reading thru the forum, I haven't come across anyone who said they actually went to Open Road and had a bad experience. I am not saying that you should go to them, but just pointing out the fact.
I know thats a ways from SF, but it was a lot more of a ways for me.
However, I do not know if they would have added on internet fees later. It did seem too cheap to be serious.
If someone has had a bad experience there I hope they will post because I am trying to decide if it is worth it for me to drive 60 miles to buy from them.
Selling price $27,799.86
Dest 550.00
Taxable price $28,349.86
7% NJ Tax $1,984.50
NJ tire tax $7.50
DOC $198.00
Registration $364.00
Drive out price $30,903.86
in hidden dealer cash (3000 below invoice) in a friendly way without too much effort. This seems to jive with my buddy (the honda salesman's ) info that the incentive is $3000. Also got a spiff on the financing.
Thats useful information for a general target --- 3000+ off invoice. (plus the favorable financing)...6000-7000 off msrp.
There are tons of the 06's on the lots here in cincinnati. They are moving slowly because of low mpg rating. Perhaps incentive will carry on here till end of year.

We just picked up our new 2006 EX 2WD Pilot today. Thanks to this discussion group, we negotiated a total price of $24,000, which included the $550 destination fee (the sticker was $30,095 and invoice was $27,135). We used the 4.9% financing for 60 months, and to top it off, we had received a postcard in the mail from Honda that it would make our first payment on a Pilot, so we will receive a check back in the amount of the first payment!
Thanks!
Suz
I purchased a 2WD EX-L on Saturday from Santa Ana Honda in Southern California for $25,002 which included destination, wheel locks, and front/rear mud guards. TTL added another $2,221.75. Price was negotiated via email. The salesperson was very professional. The whole experience was surprisingly pleasant, which I did not expect. Total time spent with the salesperson from email negotiations to driving away the new car was approximately 2 1/4 hours.
$26,391 Pilot with destination
$49 Dealer processing charge
$1,322 Sales tax
Total Cash Price $27,762
Had $3700 in equity for trade
Financed $24,124 @ 4.9% for 60 months = $459.00 per month
Included Mud guards, locking nuts and pinstripe.
Purchased from Hagerstown Honda.
It was about a 3 hour process, beginning to end.
Not unpleasant at all, but stressful enough for me.
First trade number was 6K....by the time I did the deal it was at 9K....higher than KBB (2002 MazdA MPV, 31K, good condition)
I didn't really want to do the deal, I drag my feet a good bit, but I armed myself with the numbers and I thought it was a VERY fair deal. They were at the low end on the Pilot prices....trade was decent and the salesman was nice.
I tried to walk 3 times, but the last offer of 9K sealed the deal. I considered walking, but knew it was a fair deal. I love the "your 2002 Mazda is outfront with the keys in it, but hold on I just got another call from my manager".....thought that was a classic. I thought about pulling the "well, if you want to sell a car, give me a call at the end of the month"....but didnt' have the energy.
Once the payments weren't working, I was thrown a lease for 48 months. I have no issues with leasing, but like the idea of buying a Pilot to keep for a long long time.
Once I made it clear I wasn't leasing....72 month financing was the plan. Nope.
Then they started working on the trade and the numbers crunched for me.
$7500 off of MSRP, $700 more for my trade than I had hoped equals a Taffeta White Pilot for my wife.
Guess I'll keep driving my Scion... :confuse:
Thanks to all those who posted their deals....it really helped me out a lot.
As a Dealer I am elated to see you felt enough about your salesperson to want to give some small recompense. Most dealers have what they call a "mini" or minimum commisson. 90% of the time this will range from $75.00 to $100.00. A monetary gift of this amount would not be out of line. If you would like to give less feel free as I am sure the salesperson is not expecting anything from you. You may also consider an actual "Gift" around these amounts if you know enough about the person.
Also... Congratulations on your new Pilot purchase. I hope you enjoy it for many years to come. I hope you had a great buying experience where ever you purchased! And congratulations to all of the new Pilot owners in this Forum!
