Thanks!
I just purchased a Pilot EXL 2006 last friday. Prior to the puchase, I've rec'd a few emails & phone messages saying when the 06 inventory are finished the deal is finished as well. I assume no deals for the 07 models.
This is a clean vehicle, not even off the train yet. No adds, salesman agreed that nothing would be put on the vehicle until I gave them the go (not even the dealer ID logo on the back).
Any thoughts?
This is a couple hundred above what I could have gotten at the other dealer, but I just didn't feel right about that one. This one feels right. The dealer is great. Salesman is great. No pressure, lots of honesty.
Overall, it was an excellent experience.
Good Luck
I am pretty sure that I could have squeezed another few hundred out of the deal, but this is an honorable salesman at a good dealer. Their accessory prices are significantly lower than other dealers in DFW. A lot of the accessories are cheaper installed by them than they would be for the parts alone, on the internet.

First of all, you should know that a 2006 Pilot EXL-Navi are becoming hard to find, especially if you want your choice of colors. I wanted the Sage Brush Pearl and Hunting Honda was able to work out a swap with Garden State Honda to get it for me. Here is the breakdown on my deal.
29,517.00 Selling Price of Car w/destination
10,500.00 Trade-in credit for my 2001 Pathfinder (Right on
with Galves-the auto industry wholesale guide)
1,640.21 Sales Tax
12.50 Tire Management Fee
10.00 State Inspection
45.00 for Registration Processing
60.00 for Plates Transfer
20,784.71 Total out the door
The car is suppose to be here tomorrow, and i have not decided if I will be adding any accessories. I am thinking about adding the running boards, cargo cover, rear mud guards, and the auto day/night mirror.
If you have a trade-in, when they give you an amount ask them to see what the Galves wholesale guide estimates the value of your trade. The trade in values on Edmunds and KBB tend to be on the high side. Try Galves.com as a resource. I hope I have been able to assist you.

I did everything on line, the process was very painless. I actually would look forward to buying a car again if I could have the same experience. The internet sales manager was great, and she really made it easy to buy the car. There was absolutely no pressure at all.
Reliance was able to beat every other offer I received by over $1000. Most other Houston area dealers were in the $27K range, and some dealers were even unwilling to go below $30K (Sand Dollar Honda). When I told the other dealerships about the offer that Reliance had made, the standard response I got from them was that Reliance was doing a bait and switch, and would not be able to get me the car. Despite what they said, Reliance delivered on their promises, and everything was exactly as we wanted.
I have been watching this board for a couple of months, and I have learned allot. I doubt I would have gotten the price I got without all the information everyone has shared. Thanks for all of your help!
Great dealership, wonderful to work with.
Price $29,295 included destination.
From the research I did here I thought I could have done a little better on the price (by maybe $400 or $500) BUT Curry had the color I wanted and honestly I was getting really tired of dealing with the dealerships. I had done the mass-email route and found that many dealerships, no matter how many times you e-mailed them your criteria, would constantly respond with "call us, come in and see us". Curry Honda and Greenwich Honda were the only ones that responded to me directly with prices and negotiated with me via e-mail and phone. Greenwich Honda quoted me a price of $29,695 and I had countered at $28,900 (cause I knew my prices from doing my research here). Greenwich wouldn't budge one penny and I told them I wasn't a tire kicker I was ready to buy that day. Still they wouldn't budge. I guess I could have reached out to some of the other dealerships in my area to find out exactly what they could do for me price wise, but like I said I was getting very tired of the dealer run around.
Good luck with your new Pilot, everyone whe sees my car and rides in it absolutely loves it!
I am just starting to look at the EXL AWD (no nav or ent) in the Denver area, have you gotten any feedback or prices from dealers. Any dealers you would stay away from or talk to?
Thx,
Thanks.
2006 Honda EX-L 4WD with Navi, silver ext / gray int
--Price: $28,258
--includes destination, splash guards, wheel locks and the protection package
Most of the dealers I contacted couldn't go this low and offered mid $29K. Only two offered at the $28,258...the added pieces sealed the deal.
Like other people's experiences, dealers that couldn't meet the price were quick to jump on the skepticism bandwagon:
1. Does it really include this, this and this?
2. Are you sure they have the car?
3. I may be more expensive, but I'll take care of you
One dealer even went so far as to say that the extra $40/month ($2K total) wasn't a big deal. One, $2K to avoid driving an extra hour is not a good selling point. Two, they had no idea if I planned to finance, pay cash, etc., but had the $40 already figured out???
I'll update with the dealer and experience after we pick it up.

Your deal sounds a little high, but not out of line assuming tax is included. You might be able to get a couple hundred more off of that. I'm under the impression that the incentives are volume based. And since they don't have the same volume of 2006s left on the lot, the dealership won't hit the highest incentive level with Honda. I could be wrong, but that's the impression I got. In fact, several of my quotes were higher in August than they were in July. This was true with several dealerships in Jersey and PA. Hope this helps. Good luck!
One gentleman in july stated he got a 25200 deal (8200 off MSRP) off a Exl. The average for exl's seems to be around 6800-7200 so I don't disbelieve this.
I don't know what OTD is as some states tax 300 and others will be 2200 on the same vehicle, depending on state. Additionally some will include $499 in dealer "fees " as OTD so itemize your
deal.
In my opinion, the (non navi and res) pilots are as common as rain (especially silver in my area anyway). Go to my message 12481 in the Accord prices paid forum, study the resources recommended and learn how to buy a car.
I generally don't recommend price targets but if you need one shoot for 8200 off the 20 or so sales managers you email or talk to and see if you can meet or beat it (give them your cell#). Maybe you'll find 1 or 2 who really want to book a no profit sale at the end of the month to make their #'s . However that's not the way I would necessarily pursue it. The resources I mention are better.
Go to dealer locator on honda website for info. If a search of ex's you like are plentiful then you can try towards the end of sept too. Also means a higher probability of a price concession

If you think you are going to buy a EXLNavi (35600?) for 28000 or 29000, put 17000 miles on it and sell it singly for 26000-27000 to a dealer in a year I have some swamp land to sell you.(unless the dealers your mother)
IOW, theres a reason why people are getting 7000 off without too much trouble. You are not going work a good deal and drive a 28000 vehicle for a year and eat only 1 or 2k.

Used car pricing over the last few years since the Pilot came out in '03 would by no means support a 10-12K depreciation off MSRP the first year after purchase. More like 5 to 7K. With this recent 3K incentive and gas prices, then I am sure it has gone up some, maybe 1-2K
Amazing how rumors get started!
What should be a good deal less tax and tags & no fees for this Pilot ? I'm thinking 24.5-25K .
thx --jjf
Barang - The price you get is very HIGH. I got my Pilot EX with fabric interior and no options at $22758 plus tax and license fees two weeks ago. I got it at Honda World in Southern California. You need to name your price for the car with the internet sellers and ask them to beat or match it. I hope it helps.
Does any one have a Pilot, how about the gas mileage? I am afraid that I can afford to buy it, but I can't afford the gas expense.
Good luck.
- What is the protection package and tint package. I've looked at the Honda website and Edmunds etc...and none of these sites mention anything about this? :confuse:
- I asked the delaer if the price is for an AWD instead of 2WD since it was not specified int he quote. If this was for an AWD, is that a good price?
Thanks for your help.
If you are not talking to David McDavid in Irving, you should. Get a quote from them, they were the lowest I received in the DFW area. They were willing to do Invoice less $3,000 and gave the Protection Pack and Moonroof Visor for free.
Mimi
Conicelli still had several silver and black Pilots, but I don't know if they had leather or cloth trim. I think their web site has an inventory search. Hope that helps. Good luck!
From what i read here, think i got a very good price. [except for someone who got 8400 off msrp.. wow !!]
What say everyone ?
Thanks for your response. I am in touch with them (David McDavid) via email and the internet sales manager emailed to tell me that he would match any quote that was given to me. The best I got was the quote I mentioned above. So did you end up buying from them? I'm in a bit of a unique position right now since I am currently deployed overseas so I will not have a chance to take a look at the vehicle before I put a deposit down to hold it. I return in less than two weeks but I'm worried about what may happen to the vehicle until then. I just don't think I would get the same deals if I start looking when I get home. Any advice?
Did McDavid Irving give you an initial quote?
Change your zip code and do a quick quote on Edmunds with Conicelli and Hendrick. The zip for Hendrick is 22191, Conicelli is 19428.
Once you have your quote, send it to McDavid, assuming it is lower than the quote they have already sent you.
The invoice on a 4WD EX-L with RES is 31,763 accourding to Edmunds.com so you should be looking at 28,763 as a fair price right now. McDavid Irving gave me an initial quote of 29.2 for a 4WD EX-L with Navi (32.3 Invoice). Hope that helps. Good luck with your purchase.
If you decide on a vehicle on this side of the Metroplex (Fort Worth, Arlington) I would be glad to go take a look at it for you to confirm condition and accessories. Just let me know. Thank you for your service.
OTD=26,750
They specially procured that trim [06EXAWD] for me in black !
As of yesterday, they have only 4 pilots left [all exl's with navi/res [approx otd:30k]] on the lot which must sell before end of august..
I gathered a bunch of internet quotes including theirs which was 27280 + 45 docking fee, tax and dmv fee. After going back and forth on the phone with other dealers, I called Nanuet back and told them if they make it $26,500 and have Silver or Black with grey interior, they've got a sale. Called me back about 25 mins later, accepted. Went in that night and did the paperwork. I'm including summary of fees as I was looking for this info before purchase and didn't have much luck finding a full breakdown.
Total summary of fees:
2006 Honda Pilot EX-L AWD.
Price: 26,500
Tax (7 3/8 %): 1954.38
Docking Fee: 45
NYS Waste Tire Fee: 12.50
NYS Inspection: 10.00
DMV Fee: 187.50
Total out the door: 28,709.38
I'm happy, the wife is happy, the dealer seemed happy. Transaction was incredibly painless and Honda of Nanuet has a DMV link right in their dealership so when we picked it up today, the plates and registration were on the car. Couldn't have been easier. Hope this helps current shoppers. If you're in the Westchester area, Greenwich Honda quoted me at 27050 including destination as their lowest and Rushmore in Tarrytown went to 26,900 but didn't have my colors.
Thanks to this board for all your help. I remember thinking 32,000 out the door they tried to do at Greenwich at our test drive sounded like a good deal since it was under invoice.
