Just leased a 2006 Sage Brush Pearl Pilot 4WD EX-L last night at SI Honda (Staten Island, NY).
Great service! Everything went very smoothly. Professional, courteous and very organized. Delivered with a full tank of gas. I have bought from many other dealers in the last 25 years and I never got a full tank - so this was a nice touch. I expect to buy another car there in the next few months.

Price was $26,737 (no RES or NAV). Price includes everything but tax, title/reg and plates.
No money down lease choices (both 10K@year) - 379@mth for 42 months OR 391@mth for 32 months w/free oil chgs thrown in. We took the $391 option w/oil chgs because it was a shorter term lease.

Thanks to everyone who posted - it really helped sort things out!

    Is this a good deal? 2006 Pilot EX-L $24,200+TTL
Has anyone got an Air Deflector option?
  • common118common118 Member Posts: 1
Not sure how all the users on this board can get rock bottom price on 2006 Pilot, even with the year-end clearance. Here at Twin Cities, the best price I can get for a 2006 4WD EX (cloth, not leather) is $24800 + TTL. I guess different region matters. Will close the deal before 8/31. Any comments?

I purchased on August 25th and there were about a 1/2 dozen pilots out front (don't know what inventory they had in back). You can look up my profile and e-mail me for the sales associate's name.
  • briancorrbriancorr Member Posts: 67
Sent my wife to the dealership with our 7 month old while I told her over the phone what to reject and accept. Got a 2006 EX-L w/ RES for $28k. It also had window tint, mud guards, pin stripe, and locking lugs included for that price. They gave me $150 over the galves trade in value on our 2004 civic.
    This was in McKinney, TX.

    hi mlalvarezus
would you have the name of the contact and email of your sales at SI Honda? I am looking for the same car in the same area. thanks

You may include the dealership name, city and state in your post. Please do not post names of salespeople, telephone numbers, email addresses, or other contact information.

    2WD or 4WD?
  • briancorrbriancorr Member Posts: 67
    4wd.
It was kind of a fluke. I drove by Monday night and they had 4 left, none with RES and only 1 with NAV. Tuesday when my wife went, they told her they just had one with RES show up that was a dealer trade. Another guy was there making an offer and they told us that his offer was better so my wife said fine, I'll take the one with NAV. Well, a few minutes later the other guy walked out mad (a common occurence at honda mckinney, they can be a pain to deal with) so they took our offer on the one with RES. By the time we had done our paperwork, they had the other 4 sold too.

I am new for Pilot. I just got a quota for 2006 Pilot LX 4DR FWD at $21,800 before tax. Is it a fair price? I saw most people here taking about EX 4WD. What about LX FWD.

    Thanks!
  • newcarguy2newcarguy2 Member Posts: 4
Just put a deposit on an '06 Pilot, EX-L with Nav. Doesn't seem to be a lot in NY/NJ/CT, so dealer is finding one for me. Agreed on $29,800 - Is this good? I believe the MSRP is around $36k?

Also, can someone tell me if there is an MPG display anywhere on this model?
  • gcrewzrgcrewzr Member Posts: 9
    Which one would you get?
  • piloteerpiloteer Member Posts: 20
forget about MSRP at this stage for 2006. Dealers are all selling below MSRP to clear their inventories. Is this 2WD or 4WD? I guess your price is pretty good if this is for 4WD, but you could have got better if you would have been more aggresive or shopped around.

I am trying to purchase a 2006 Pilot EXL 2WD in the DFW Tx area. The dealers here have not been quoting the great prices I've seen in most of the posts. The best offer I've had has been from Huggins for $28,900 without TTL. I had an offer from Bankston for 30k on an 2007. A lot of the dealers are out of 06's. May end up waiting on an 07 unless the deals get sweeter this weekend. Any suggestions or comments?
  • gcrewzrgcrewzr Member Posts: 9
Wow, that's really high quotes. I got a 2006 Pilot EXL 2WD for $24,500+TTL. I live in Los Angeles area.
    $4500 differences...
  • alex28alex28 Member Posts: 4
I was quoted $27,170 for EXL 4WD with DVD, is this a good deal?
  • ahuahu Member Posts: 14
Try Reliance Honda in Lake Jackson TX, around Houston. I got a deal for same car for $25800 + TTL.
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
Vandergriff Honda in Arlington has 7 2WD EX-L models showing in stock. I would contact their Internet Sales Manager and ask for a quote. You should be starting negotiations around $6,000 off MSRP. David McDavid in Irving is another one, but I am not sure that they have any stock.

Contact me via email using the My Carspace function and I can put you in contact with my salesman. They still have 8 left and I am fairly certain they will be willing to sell you one at $6k off

    Hello Newcarguy2

I just picked my new Pilot yesterday from Huntington Honda on LI. It was the 4wd EXL-Navi in Desert Rock Metallic. (The 4wd Pilots with Navi are hard to come by in the Tri-State area, but some dealers have them in Silver and Steel Blue, most other colors are gone.) Anyhow I paid $29,517+TTL and they threw in the rear splash guards and the first oil change for free. I hope this helps
  • piloteerpiloteer Member Posts: 20
If that includes destination charge, that's sweet. If not it's still a good deal. I just took home a 2006 2WD EXL w/DVD for 26,150 including dest. Bought mine in NJ.
  • gymshoegymshoe Member Posts: 80
Pilots with Nav are getting far and few in between in choice colors. Went looking for a silver one with nav and only 3 left in the state.

Ended up with a Steel Blue for $29,970 + TTL...why's seattle prices always more than elsewhere?

Starting to love the color....wasn't too sure about it originally, but the more i look at it, the cooler it gets.
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
That seems like a pretty great deal to me. Make sure of the destination charge (included or not) and also any accessories that are already installed.

4WD EX-L with RES is sticker 34,645 - so 27,170 would be $7,000 off MSRP even if it didn't include destination. I would say that is a great deal.

Let us know how it works out.
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
Even though the Financing and Dealer cash deals are good through the end of the holiday weekend, the month closes tomorrow. Most dealers will be very anxious to close your deal by the end of the day on the 31st. Not that they won't want to deal this week end, but you may be able to squeeze a couple hundred more out of them today and tomorrow. My salesman called today and I got the distinct impression he wanted to close the deal tomorrow (the unit is supposed to arrive tomorrow - it is over 2 weeks late).

Just thought I would throw that out there.
  • vtoddvtodd Member Posts: 1
I paid 29258 + TTL for mine. That price included dest. full tow package, rear mud guards, wheel locks, pinstripe and cargo tray. Got mine from Antrim Way Honda in PA. They are a great dealer to work with. I'm very pleased with my deal which I owe to this forum.
  • trdprerunnerdctrdprerunnerdc Member Posts: 52
    GREWZR,

Do you have a trade in for $24,500+TTL in Los Angeles?
That's a great deal you got for a 2wd EXL!
  • bigsmooth469bigsmooth469 Member Posts: 12
I got a 4WD EX-L with Window Tint and Backup sensors for $27,600 in DFW at Frank Kent in Fort Worth two weeks ago. It was THE BEST car buying experience I ever had. I could have probably haggled down another 100-200 dollars, but I was happy with this deal and it was well worth the drive. I had a horrible experience with Lute Riley. All of the rest of the dealers didn't really want to deal via the telephone. For example, someone posted on here getting a good deal in McKinney...when I called them they didn't even want to play...ad when I drove out there they had ridiculous adds on many of their cars (paint protection = wax for 800, tint for 300 to tint two windows, etc.)

Just bought my wife a blue 2006 Pilot 4WD -EXL w/NAV $28900 (including destination fee) in San Fran bay area.
Fleet manager would not budge below this so I presume we hit his bottom line. She loves the car ( & I mean it handles like a car w/ seating for 8.) The window sticker
says 17 mpg city and 22 highway but I sure it depends what kind of driver you are. ( Indy racer or granny) There appears to be no difference in 2007 model except a big jump in price tag - so I think that's why all the 2006 are being scooped up. If you are thinking of PILOT you might want to
get one before Labor day if you can find one. ALSO 2.9% financing up to 36 months is nice too. By the way, how many PILOT people bought the extended warranty?
  • bdguybdguy Member Posts: 5
I just bought Pilot EX-L @25,202+tax from Honda World. I had to sign a lending agreement [which has 7500 finance charge] even though I paid full price in check. The salesperson said it only kicks in if my check rebounds. Is there any trouble in doing that. Only proof I have is a receipt of the full-price by check[but it looks very shaky]. If I have the right cash on my bank, should I be still worried? [What if they dont deposit the check and force me into the lending agreement?] The salesperson was very nice. I just went to the bbb web-site and the dealership has a "D" rating there. Then I read carbuyingtips website that recommends not to use check for buying car? How do people buy a new car? Does the dealer force everyone to sign a lending agreement or do you have to bring a cashier check?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,419
If they let you take their $25K car off the lot for just a piece or paper (your check), then it is reasonable for them to have a back-up plan...

You have the car and the receipt.. I wouldn't worry about it, as long as your check is good.

Not pay by check? Did they specify a reason for that?

I also bought EX-L 4WD with Nav couple weeks ago in Taffeta White color in Los Angeles area. I paid $28,776 including dest. fee plus mud guards, wheel locks, cargo tray & net. I paid to get two accessories - chrome side step and chrome exhaust pipe, which dressed up the Pilot in a nice fashion. I will tint all the windows darker than how it came with (two front windows little lighter color than rear ones). I did not buy the extended warranty because I am leasing a car for 4 years. My wife is driving this car and she loves it. We replaced Lexus RX 300 with this car and it is lot bigger and roomier inside. With the price I got, I don't think I can go wrong with the decision.
  • kbon43kbon43 Member Posts: 3
Thanks for the info. I contacted your salesman yesterday at Frank Kent and purchased a steel blue 2006 2WD EX-L last night for $28,500 OTD. The only other color they had was black which I definately didn't want with the 100+ days we have here in Tx.
I did call Vandergriff .... they had two left in stock and quoted me $28650 without TTL so I'm pretty happy with my deal.

Thanks again to you and everyone else for all the helpful info.
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
No worries, I am glad you had a good experience. Frank Kent is an excellent dealership. They do not employ your "normal" salespeople. We should be finalizing our deal this afternoon. The truck is supposed to arrive today.
  • bdguybdguy Member Posts: 5
Thanks. I called the honda [the said it is a normal practice]. I guess it is a normal practice. Carbuyingtips did not specify the reason for not using the check. One of the reason could be that you have some protection with credit cards [if you order your car].

The salesmen and the finance person were so nice, friendly and hassle-free. The price was also very good. It must be my best car buying experience [if everything turns out ok].
  • bigsmooth469bigsmooth469 Member Posts: 12
    Matt,

Which dealer is it that will give you a good price on accessories installed? If I can get stuff from a local dealer installed for the same price as if I were to order on the internet and install it myself, I'd rather do that. :)

    Thanks!
  • cashtexascashtexas Member Posts: 5
I bought the Ext. Warranty--paid like $1017 or something like that. Since I bought the EXL+NAV for $28k I didn't bother beating them up on the warranty price.
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
In my limited experience so far, Frank Kent is very reasonable on the cost, but they are still high. I plan on installing my own accessories. If you purchase OEM accessories, many can be installed with very little effort. I have received great service from Majestic Honda in Rhode Island. There website is http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/
  • massmedmassmed Member Posts: 3
Just got mine in New England for %28,500 Plus tax and title. Not too many left around, limited colors. Plenty of non 4WD it seems. I'd be hard pressed to buy one for New England though.
  • demkokdemkok Member Posts: 4
I won't be picking up my Pilot until Monday or Tuesday. I do plan on buying an extended warranty as I have never owned a vehicle without one. I will likely be purchasing the Honda Care warranty from another dealer online unless my local dealer is willing to match the prices that I take in to them. I am looking at a $0 deductible, 6 year, 100,000 mile plan available for $990 from Jay Honda in Ohio. I believe that there a couple of other dealers that offer it a bit cheaper but I haven't completed my research. I will do that over the weekend.

There is a forum on this site specifically on Hondas and Extended Warranties. I really had no idea that there were different prices out there for the same warranty. If anyone is considering a warranty, you should really take a look at the forum. It is quite informative.
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
    Here is the breakdown:

    Price - 29,453.00
    Sales Tax - 1,840.81
    Document Fee - 50.00
    Dealer Inv. Tax - 78.20
    Lic/Title - 127.30
    Sub Total - 31,549.31
    5yr/100k 0 Deduc
HondaCare - 750.00 (Finance manager not happy)
    Downpayment - (500.00)

Out the Door - 31,799.31 (Financed at 4.9% for 60 months)

Feel pretty good about the deal. It was a fair price. The Pilot came off the truck this afternoon, so it had not even sat on the lot. Bought the cargo tray from the parts department for 100 bucks (could have saved 20 on line, but would have had to wait).
  • laiwlaiw Member Posts: 9
It is getting really hard to find a 06 pilot in DFW area. All dealers are telling me they won't get more 06 pilots. Is that true? I am planning to buy a LX or EX or EXL 2wd model. Since there is $3000 dealer cash, I am asking $3000 off the invoice price plus TTL. Is this a fair price to ask?

I just found out that the guy who ran open road honda is joining academy honda, also now open road honda has started negotiating their insta quote, so I guess since their top guy left they are no longer putting their best foot forward. So fellow buyers beware the insta quote from them is now negotiable
  • alex28alex28 Member Posts: 4
piloteer, I just purchased my Pilot EXL 4WD with DVD for $27,170, destination fee included. I will pick it up this afternoon.
  • bigjohnfl88bigjohnfl88 Member Posts: 2
This sounds like a fantastic deal. What is the out the door price the dealer quoted?
I didn't opt for it, but the air deflector at my dealer costs $159 w/o install and $207 installed.
I am considering purchasing running boards from them for $600 installed.
  • mropportunitymropportunity Member Posts: 11
That was my thinking also and it pretty much works; but as you said the availability now is getting sparse for 2006 models so find it and go for it if you want the PILOT. My wife loves her Pilot.
  • piloteerpiloteer Member Posts: 20
Sweet deal. What area and which dealer did you buy from?
  • myen2myen2 Member Posts: 15
Actually, it wasn't that great of a price (note that your car was 26,500 PLUS 500 delivery). I got the EXL with Navi for less than 500 more. Folks in this forum have been getting 6000-7000 off MSRP. EX-L includes leather wrapped steering wheel and cargo net (that's standard).

What were the specs of the extended warranty? Please do a search and find out the "real prices" for it.

But, overall, if you're happy, then you're happy. Congrats.
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
Just as a point of information. I am 99% sure that the COST to the dealer for a 5 year, 100,000 mile, 0 deductible Honda Care warranty is $715. Mike Pruitt Honda will quote you an excellent deal. Their web address is http://www.mikepruitthonda.com/main.html
  • bbchinbbchin Member Posts: 3
I just purchased a 2006 AWD LX in Denver for $23,226 + tax and title fee only (negotiated price). No destination fee, dealer handling, or other nonsense. I've confirmed the $3,000 dealer rebate and learned of a sales person rebate of $600 to $1,000 per Pilot sold. After the sale, the sales person gets on line a does some spin wheel (wheel of fortune like) to determine the sales person's rebate. So the dealer and sales people are real motivated to sell. I was also told that nationally, Pilots have been sitting on lots too long due to high gas prices, and Honda wanted to move these Pilots. Hence, the 2 incentives.

I also received price quotes of $25,973 (not negotiated so most likely could go lower) for the EX and $28,040 for the EXL.

Once the 2006s are gone, so are the dealer/sales person incentives. The inventory is low here in Denver.

The 2.9% financing is attractive too. Just take the purchase price cash and put it into Ingdirect CD @5.2%, HSBC direct @ 5.05%, or elsewhere, and make money on the financing instead of paying cash.

    Go get em!

I just bought an 06 EX-L from Frank Kent 2 days ago for $26500 ($28500 OTD). The EX-L's are hard to come by now but you should be able to get an 06 EX or LX. I would go for the EX. It's quite a bit nicer for an extra $1500.
Give Frank Kent a try. Huggins Honda has a lot of 06 Pilots in stock but I could not get them to come down to a reasonable price. They may be more willing to negotiate this wknd since the 3K incentive to the dealer is supposed to end Monday. Good luck.

Thank you everyone who shared experience here, it's really informative.

Thanks to mattchalmers, I learned Frank Kent Honda at Fort Worth has a few EX model left, though not my desired EXL+AWD.

Yesterday I bought a pilot EX AWD for $24,800 + TTL, not the best deal as some others posted on this forum though, still not bad, considering most Texas dealers were low in inventory now. I also purchased a tint package (for 2 front windows) for $169.

BTW, the purchasing experience with Frank Kent was pretty smooth.
