I have read that at the LA Auto Show this December Honda will be debuting some new or redesigned cars & SUV's. I would bet it will be the 08' Pilot redesign.

07 PILOT EXL NAVI AWD AT DCH ACADEMY HONDA IN OLD BRIDGE IS $31900 + DEST, MOST NJ DEALERS ARE AROUND THIS PRICE, THE DIFFERENCE IS IN THEIR FEES, ACADEMY HONDAS' DOCUMENTARY FEE IS $129. IT IS THE LOWEST AROUND SO THEIR ON THE ROAD PRICE IS GENERALLY THE CHEAPEST, ALSO TO GET THEIR BEST PRICE ASK FOR THE MANAGER WHO CAME FROM OPEN ROAD
  • david189david189 Member Posts: 3
I have e-mailed just about every single Honda dealer in IL in search of internet quote on a 2007 Honda Pilot EXL 4WD with Navi. The best price I could get was $31,900. Lucky for me I found found a 2006 model with the same options and ended up paying $29,700. I probably could have bought it for about $700 less had I bought it a few months ago. Paying more for a 2007 that you are going to hold onto for 5 + years is ridiculous. If you can still find a 2006 go for it.
  • tmock13tmock13 Member Posts: 38
WHAT IS DOCUMENTARY FEE OF $129? DOES ALL DEALERS CHARGE THIS FEE? I GUESS I SHOULD JUST HOLD OFF FOR NOW IF THE LOWEST PRICE IS $31900 FOR THE 07 EXL AWD-NAVI MODELS. THIS VEHICLE WAS SELLING BETWEEN 28-29K JUST A MONTH AGO AS THE 06 MODEL. I KNOW THERE WERE MANUFACTURER TO DEALER REBATES LAST MONTH. WHAT ABOUT FOR THE 07 MODELS? THE 08 PILOTS WILL BE TOTALLY REDESIGN SO SOONER OR LATER THE DEALERS WILL BE BEGGING FOR CUSTOMERS TO GET THESE 07 MODELS OFF THEIR LOTS.

I am thinking of buying 2006 Pilot 2WD EX-L. I got internet quote for $28500 from one of the dealers in Southern California for the same with these extras: DVD, running boards, wheel locks, mudguards. Is this a good deal? Can I do better? Which dealers do you guys recommend?

I test drove both Pilot and Highlander. Like the bigger size, better interior, 3rd row seats of Pilot. Highlander's ride was smoother though. The best quote I received for 2006 Highlander Limited 2WD w/ 3rd row seat (without the extras though) is $27400. I am hoping to get a Pilot for this price or better.

28500 for a $34000? (RES model) 2006 machine is a mediocre price. Many have received $7000-8000 off these vehicles in the last month. This is good as the Pilot generally wholesales 10-11k off list the first year.

The 2wd model is a poor choice. Forgoing Vtm-4 awd system for a possible 5% increase in gas milage and a possible savings of $1200 is questionable. I say possible as the 2wd models seem to be outnumbered 3-1 by the 4wd models. The better availability may erode the 1200 to 600 or less in actual dealmaking. Your driving habits may make the milage difference moot. The 2wd model is a crippled machine.

Check my message #12481 in the Honda Accord prices paid discussion. Purchase/read the resources mentioned to learn how to buy a car. You need to solicit bids from about 15-30 dealers around now (end of the month) The internet resource I mention explains this in more detail. Flexibility on colors/options is advantageous.

    Happy Hunting

First, I want to thank everyone on this Forum because your posts have significantly cut into my homework time! Thank you for your willingness to assist us newbies!!
I have a deal in front of me from a SW Va. dealer. 2006 4WD EX-L for $27,521 plus tax and title. Leasing terms seem fair: 36 mo. lease quoted at $386 with $2500 down and residual value of $17,136. With no down, it's $446/mo. though I don't have a residual quotw from them. Whatddya think.. should I go for it?
I get the impression that there's still a fair number of leftover '06s.

    Hi,
This forum is awesome! Just wanted to run a price by you. 06 Pilot EX (Black) for $26995. They said they are giving me 3300 dealer incentives to get it to that price from an MSRP of 30295. Does this sound like a good price? Financing is not as good for left over 06 models (6% for 60 months). 07 models have financing of 4.9% for 60 months, but they will not come down off of MSRP at all. Anyone else have any luck getting a good price on an 07?
  • hfzeushfzeus Member Posts: 39
And I assume it is 4WD. For an '06, that is a rip-off. I got an '06 EX 4WD for 25 even, including destination. And I know many here did even better.
  • jcd148jcd148 Member Posts: 4
Yes it is 4WD. They only have 3 06 models left on the lot, so maybe that's why it is so high. I will definitely push for lower. They told me flat out that they aren't dealing on the 07's though and that they are selling for right around MSRP.
  • rekhrekh Member Posts: 47
Hi, I bought my EX 4WD 2006 on the 31st of August and paid $24580 + 220 for Rear splash guards & wheel locks + des+ TTL.
    Good Luck
  • rekhrekh Member Posts: 47
Hi again, I am so sorry I have made a mistake, the price included the Destination. The MSRP was $31,295(including Des) . Totally I paid $24800+TTL.
    Sorry again for the mistake.

  • trimactrimac Member Posts: 2
Is there an advantage to purchasing with cash? Meaning...can I get a better deal if I am a cash buyer? I'm looking at a 2007 Pilot.
  • trimactrimac Member Posts: 2
if I finance with Honda and get the special finance rate...does the dealer get some sort of financial incentive to get me into that loan? if so...can I negotiate a better price under those conditions? (then pay it off a few days later!)
  • tmock13tmock13 Member Posts: 38
There are no advantages if you are a cash buyer. APR for 07 pilot is 4.9% till the end of October. 07 models are not discounted yet like the 06 model. I have been looking around to see if I can still land a 06 EXL-AWD with NAVI (Sage Brush) for 28K to 29K. This makes more sense than paying 32-33k for a 07 model which is the same exact vehicle.
Anyone with info on 06 models left with Navi, let me know. Thank you.
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
Definitely negotiate another $2,000 off the price of the 2006. Many dealers around the country are selling 2007 models at or near invoice (which is only a few hundred dollars higher than your deal on the 2006).

Good luck. Don't let the dealer push you around on this one. While there are a limited number of 2006 models left, there are enough to get a better deal than you are being offered. You should be able to get an EX-L for the price you are being quoted.

Try getting quotes from any dealer within 500 miles. That will give you a helpful negotiating tool.

I've seen several references posted about dealer incentives on the Pilot. I've never owned a Honda. I’ve had the impression that incentives on Hondas aren't usually offered.

Do these incentives seem to occur each year as the new models are arriving - in other words what are the chances these will show up next summer as incentives on the 2007s that are still on the lot? Do (or have) these incentives been better earlier in the summer as opposed to later?

  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
Hard to say for sure. Honda only does Dealer Cash, so you have to find a dealer willing to pass on the savings. Also, Honda usually only gives 500 or 1,000 in Dealer Cash. The $3,000 that Honda was giving in July and August on the Pilot was somewhat unprecedented.

    Hi all

Great info here. I am looking for a 06 Pilot EXL AWD in western NY state near Buffulo, Rochester or even east to N.J. Anyone recently closed deals or know good price/availability in the area please pass on dealer name and pricing details.

    Thanks to all

anybody know any Atlanta dealers with good prices on a 2WD EXL 07.
  • toyota_luvertoyota_luver Member Posts: 5
Bought 2006 EX-L w/RES 2WD with dealer installed running boards, wheel locks, mudguards for $28000 plus TTL. This price included the destination charge. How did I do?

I bought into the finance manager's pitch for Karr security system. He said they use it to protect their cars on dealer parking lot. He also said if I decline it, they would deactivate it. But if I install an after market system later on, it would void the Honda warranty. They charged $675 for it. I just realized Pilot has its own security system with immobilizer. Although it offers limited protection, does Pilot need additional security system?
I think I got ripped off. Is there a way I can cancel it and ask for money back? Does installing after market system void the warranty?
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
I am not sure on the warranty question, but on the question of additional security... I find that as long as you have a stock set up, there is no reason for more than the factory alarm system. If you are going to add a bunch of aftermarket stuff, you may want the additional security. The factory set up is sufficient for your insurance discount.

You should be able to take the vehicle back and have the security system charge removed. In the state of Texas, you have 72 hours. In California I am sure you have even more protection as a consumer.

I am new to this and am starting to contact local dealers. I want to send them a realistic lowest amount I will pay without sounding ridiculous. I am afraid of contacting them and telling them a value that is too high. I want it in Silver. Thanks all!
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
just start by asking for quotes. let them come to you and then you can start negotiating them down. send out requests to every dealership within 500 miles. most internet sales managers will have you a response within 2 hours during the business day.
  • heidi123heidi123 Member Posts: 2
A friend of mine told me to tell them what I want to pay, rather than getting quotes first off. He said this eliminated a lot of back and forth for him. That's why I was wondering if this approach makes sense. Is 3-4000 off invoice unrealistic. I know they have 2500 dealer marketing support right now. Is 26-27000 completely ridiculous? I am also curious, what if my best deal is 500 miles away? How does one go about getting that vehicle. Sorry if I seem ignorant, I am very GREEN at this!

I need help people, I went into my Honda dealer with a fake quote saying I can get a 2006 EX-L with NAV for $28,999.00, the dealer is balking and I dont want to back down, they are asking for a written quote or reference. I dont feel I should have to but I want ammo. SALENET, you wrote that you got the same Pilot for 29K which is what I am asking for and I live in NY, perhaps I will shop at Huntington Honda, I want to take advantage of this while there are 2006 left on the lots
  • tmock13tmock13 Member Posts: 38
Where did you go to asked for the 06 EXL-AWD-Navi in the NY/NJ area? I also did the same and used the 29K price from SALENET when I visited several dealers today. Unfortunately, the dealers could not find a 06 model with Navi (Sage is the color I'm shopping) left in NY/NJ/PA/MA/MD/CT areas. The dealers also asked for a buyers agreement from dealers offering for 29K. I called Huntington Honda if any 06 Pilots with Navi left but they had none. 07 models with Navi are what dealers are now trying to sell but the price tag does not justify the cost since it is the same as a 06 models. Think about this 29K for a 06 with Navi or 32K to 33K for a 07 with Navi?

Had best luck with Madison Honda and VIP Honda.

VIP Honda responded to Edmund's "Get Dealer Pricing" at $825 below invoice plus additional $3000 dealer incentive on July 25th for 2006 Pilot EX-L AWD. (No Navi / No DVD) ($25,888 plus dest.)

Madison Honda matched the price - they had the color.

I wanted the Sage Brush as well, but back in late August, there were not any to be had in NY/NJ/CT or PA. So I took the Desert Rock Metallic. It was the last one with Navi that they had. They told me that if I wanted I could get the first 07' Nimbus Gray that came in with Navi (expected to arrive around Sept 20th) for $32,500. I decided that I did not want to pay the extra $3K and that the color Desert Rock was fine. I would say at this point if you want the NAvi, you may be forced to go with an 07'. With the $3K incentive they went like crazy in August.
  • jcd148jcd148 Member Posts: 4
What are some of the things you can ask for as extras when you are about to accept a deal? I know I will ask for wheel locks, Honda floor mats, and cargo net. Am I leaving anything important out that they might not give me?
  • salenetsalenet Member Posts: 64
The carpeted floor mats are included and so is a cargo net. I would ask for the cargo cover and the rear splash guards. If you really can push it then ask for either side steps or running boards and the auto day/night rear view mirror. The also have rubber all-weather mats as well. Good luck with your purchase.

I received this quote in N.Va.
07 Honda Pilot EX-L is $30,936.09 plus tax
    Any comments? Thanks a lot.
  • tmock13tmock13 Member Posts: 38
Is this quote for $30936 for the 4WD and Navi? If not, the rate is okay at this time. I anticpate in the upcoming months that incentives, even better financing rates will bring the Pilot prices down. Remember, this is the last year of the current style for the Pilots. O8 models will be redesign. Hopefully we can have NAVI and the DVD together for this vehicle.
  • kiddingyoukiddingyou Member Posts: 30
The price does not include Navi system. I actually got an Acura MDX base model quote for the same price. I think I might go to MDX. Thanks for the information.
  • tndavetndave Member Posts: 3
I’ve read in these posts that the Pilot is getting redesigned for 2008.

Will the redesigning of the Pilot for 2008 put any additional pressure on dealers to move remaining 2007 models off their lot quicker? When do you see the best deals on the 2007 models starting?

Just moved to Florida, wonder if anyone is familiar with a dealer in central Florida that is price competitive? Looking for a '07 Pilot AWD with Navi.
  • cvcvhcvcvh Member Posts: 4
Is the 33.5 an actual quote? I'm just starting to look here in Florida I'm from NJ and the dealers here have a different way of dealing the cards.

    Thanks,
  • tmock13tmock13 Member Posts: 38
If you're originally from NJ/NY area, the prices I have been getting for the 07 Pilot EXL AWD NAVI from numerous dealers is invoice which is $32757 (destination included)plus your taxes/tags/registration. Most dealers will quote you higher but if you're willing to deal they will give you invoice. Just go into the showroom with your "Poker" face. As far as Florida, just go into the showroom and deal. Price quoted by phone and internet are always higher than when you show up at the showroom. I have learned after visiting showrooms the last couple of weeks looking for a 06 Pilot with Navi. No luck in finding the one I want (Sage Brush Pearl) I am content to wait it out till the 07 models come out with incentives.

I visited a dealer and they quoted me OTD $33,8 for a 07 4WD Pilot EX L with chrome side steps and rear mud guards. Is this a good price?
  • hql2khql2k Member Posts: 3
Just purchased 2006 2WD EX-Leather with wheel locks, mud guards, and moonroof visor for $27,450 TOTAL out the door on September 28, 2006. New Car Tax in southeast VA is 3.17% and title is $55. I hope this helps everyone to get similiar or better results.

FYI: I came there on Thursday night at 8pm, 1 hour before closing. They had about 12 06 pilots left on the lot. 10 of which are black/silver EX-L 2WD. I used this fact as bargaining leverage as well as the 10/02/06 expiration on the $2500 Manufacturer to Dealer cash incentive. :shades:
