If the new '07 MDX (cousin of the Pilot) is an indication, the '08 Pilot will get a 300hp engine that rates the same fuel economy of the current 244 hp V6 - that's a pretty big increase in power with no sacrifice at the pump.
if you know Honda, they will likely hold back on some features except for the "fully loaded" edition or wait till the second year before offering things like SH-AWD.
I bought a 2007 Pilot EX-L in Nimbus Gray Metallic without navigation or rear entertainment. At the advice of this site, I did a lot of haggling via email with three or four local dealers and went to the dealer already knowing how much I was going to pay. I ended up paying 30,600 (including destination) plus the typical taxes, title and licensing. I had them throw in mud guard and wheel locks. I bought at Lehigh Valley Honda in Allentown (Emmaus), Pa.
The person I dealt with via email was responsive and met my deadlines. They really lowballed me on the trade so I pulled it from the deal and am selling it on my own. Phillipsburg (NJ)-Easton Honda was bad about replying electronically, so even though they were 20 minutes closer, I took them out of the equation.
I've already driven the Pilot on a three-hour trip to Syracuse and then into New York City. Other than my fear or being bumped in New York with the new car, the Pilot is great.
jeepvan (Oct 29, 2006 2:19 pm)said: > There is only one green, Aberdeen. It looks relatively dark and I think it comes with Olive interior.<
Has anybody seen this color in person? I have deposit down for 2007 Pilot EX-L, but no color specififed yet because I can't find an Aberdeen green to look at, none on local lots. The dealer says it is identical to the 2006 Amazon green, just changed the name to update it. But another one says it is lighter and drabber olive (army) compared to darker and greener 2006 Amazon green. Everybody agrees that the brochure is not at all accurate. My other choice, Metallic Steel Blue, looks nicely slate colored in the brochure but baby blue in every online photo I can find and they don't have one of those in inventory either. Can anyone comment on the difference (or similarity) between the new Aberdeen green and the 2006 Amazon green color? And dealer says the olive interior is dark tan but "different from the Saddle tan" so that was no help either. I'm about to ditch the green that was my first choice if it's what I think it is. You'd think these dealers could be a litle more informed.
I bought the 07 EXL in the Baltimore area.. Out the door price was 31,565 including tax and tags. bought before the end of the month.. Not sure they made anything on this but those end of the month numbers are important. Several dealers met this price... the dealer that won out was the one that spent the most time and who threw in the mud flaps, wheel locks and cargo mat for free.
I am looking to purchase a 2007 Pilot EX-L with RES. I just started looking and doing some research the past few days. I received an internet quote for $31,446 today plus taxes, titles, and fees. Not sure what the fee are at this time.
Thanks for the info. Based on input from the Forum I just bought an '07 EXL with Navi in Billet Silver for $31,800 - including destination fees, mud flaps, night/compass mirror, pin stripes, cargo mat, cargo cover and window tint. No trade in (Plus TT&L). Vehicle had 19 miles on it.
The salesperson at John Eagle in Houston was very professional. Pleasure doing business with them.

What type of pin stripes did you get? I saw a used black Pilot at Carmax that had nice pin stripes (had a small Honda symbol in it), but I haven't seen them at the accessory stores.
Thanks for all the great advice as I have been lurking for months. Was ready to buy the 06 at invoice less $2500 and had some firm offers but when I went back they were gone. So, on to the 2007's. Most dealers were well above invoice but the local dealer agreed to an amazing deal for me. It is amazing because of what they gave for my trade. Carmax offered me $12k for my trade and the dealer offered $16k! THe offer was a month ago and they said auction prices went down, but they still honored the $16k AND gave me the Pilot at INVOICE! So, after the dealer agreed to waive the fees for the bogus pinstripe, leather and exterior protection package we added a $299 mud flaps, $79 visor, $299 proc fee and taxes I was at $17,500 OTD plus my 1999 Landcruiser with 97k miles that Carmax offered $12k for!!! To me it feels like I got the whole deal OTD for $29,500 OTD since my trade was really worth $12k. THanks all, and really glad I got the 07 instead of the 06! Now I can swap for the 08 next fall pretty easily. Oh, they also threw in first service for free and loaner cars for a year!
The Acura MDX, cousin of the Honda Pilot, has had a major make over for the '07 model year. Now that people are lined up to pay MSRP for the new model the '06's are sitting on lots like orphans waiting for a good home. Acura is offering $3,500 cash back incentives which means some people are getting them for $3,500 below invoice. That's getting close to a comparably equipted Pilot.
What does that have to do with the Pilot you ask?
The Pilot will have it's major model upgrade for '08. It's a safe bet there will be orphaned '07's sitting on the lots this time next year with Honda offering $3,000 cash back to the dealers.
But you can't wait that long?
I'm guessing the '07's will be selling well below invoice by the calendar year end.
Wow, sounds like a great deal to me. I can't imagine trading a car with 97,000 miles and getting $12k, let alone $16k. Good job and thanks for sharing.
The new Acura is sportier for sure. As far as the Pilot, they already are selling below invoice. Be sure to look at the ALL the other vehicles out there, too. There are GREAT deals to be had with every make especially the SUVs and crossovers. Don't be afraid to ask for more, because if you don’t, they won’t give it to you. Be patient and never be afraid to walk out the door because a better deal definitely awaits you tomorrow. I expect Honda to adjust production of the vehicles to meet demand. Chevy and Ford have already reduced production. It may be that in a few years I will be looking at the Civic forum for advice as the Pilot may be the dinasaur.
I forgot to ask, I would like to add pinstripes to my car. What is the price that they waived for your deal and how do I spot the bogus ones from the good ones?
I have a 2006 Amazon Green EX pilot. The new Aberdeen Green is darker. The Amazon Green (you can see pics on my carspace) turns to a gray when the sun catches it just right. It matches nicely with the gray / black trims that are on the pilot.
Honda symbol. Dark grey on the Nimbus grey metalic. Never thought a Honda would excite me...other vehicles are Ducati and BMW. It's pretty sweet though. Picked it up today. Wife's car.
Thanks and yes, I too could have had the MDX at Invoice less the marketing money. But believe it or not, after testing both, the pilot was better suited to my needs. The number one reason the MDX lost my vote was the left driver's leg simply can't be extended or stretched out. After an hour it is simply un bearable. If you are 6ft tall, go ahead and try to stretch that left leg... It drove me nuts otherwise I could have had a sweet MDX for close to $30k.
Hi, has anyone recently bought 2006 or 2007 Honda Pilot AWD EX-L with Navigation System in Chicago or its suburbs? I would appreciate if you could please share your buying experience as to the price paid and the dealership name. I am looking to buy my first SUV.
I think I will add wheel locks, cargo cover, rear splash guards and all season floor mat. Is there anything else I should add?
Is it possible to put 2 bikes inside the Pilot without removing their wheels? My concern is that the bikes will likely be moving when I drive damaging the SUV. I appreciate any suggestions/comments. Thank you.
Has anyone leased a 07 4wd exl lately around Chicago...I am about to lease one and I want to compare prices. I am being offered $325 per month, $3000 down. No trade in.
Hi Depaul, I'm not in Chicago but I bought an EX-L 2WD (not AWD) with Navi yesterday. Also, I am putting a 2-bike rack on the back of it. Honda is installing a tow hitch for about 600 (parts/labor). probably a rip off but that way I don't put the bikes in the car. The bike rack itself was expensive (from bike shop) but don't remember because it's 2 years ago ($350 maybe). So for another 1k,, you can put something on the back that looks nice and won't eat up your interior room.
BTW - I paid $850 below the dealer invoice which is pretty good, but I din't try that hard so you might be able to do better.
I started by going to Edmunds and having 4 dealers give me quotes over email and then I called the local guy in Los Gatos and askd if he had the one I wanted (black) and would he match 850 and he said YES. I'm sure I could have squeezed a few more $$$ but what the heck, i felt I got a good enough deal and love the damn car.
Good luck with your purchase, so far (20 miles) I love mine.
I am looking into buying a new pilot in Seattle area. Can anyone share their price paid experience around Seattle area for 06 or 07 pilot AWD E-XL preferably + Nav. I do not know what the invoice is either and would appreciate input. I see lots of invoice less $2500 to invoice plus xx. What is the best price to start with in the dealership?
Hi Nillly, thank you so much for the info and for sharing. I really appreciate it. So it looks like buying below the invoice is the goal. $850 below invoice sounds like a great deal! You must be a very good negotiator. I would love to buy at this price too. Wow, it costs 1k for a tow hitch and a bike rack? It’s more expensive than I thought.
It’s great to hear that you love your Pilot. I’ve never driven an SUV before so I am very excited about it! I wonder if it is very different from driving a car..
Got the Pilot today for a good price. Russell Smith Honda is having a huge internet sales price on in stock Pilots now, see below. They didn't have the color we wanted, so we went to Gillman Honda. Our sales person was great, but the floor manager hemmed and hawed about meeting their price. Eventually got it for $730 below invoice which includes the pin stripping and window tinting (we could've done with out them) that they put on all their cars.
These are Russell Smith internet special prices, if you are interested they are going fast:

Hi Hos, what I learned is that the dealer invoice price is “the maximum amount the dealer pays the manufacturer for a vehicle. Given manufacture’s use of dealer incentives and holdbacks, it is no longer your bottom line.” I got my invoice from the consumerreports web site. DePaul.
I have a quote for the 07 Pilot EX 2WD at 25100 + TTL. Is this good or can I do even better ? There are 2 dealerships within $100 of each other ($25095 and $25195)
Thanks, I think that striping looks good. I got the new Dark Cherry color and am overly excited about making it look unique. Maybe I can get Foose to give me a fade job and some 22's!
Are you sure about that price of 25,100? If so that is more than 2K below invoice (including dest charge) so that would be one heck of a deal if the price is correct!
Yes, I have that quote from 2 Different dealers and confirmed that all fees are included. Only thing I pay is TTL. That price of ~25100 includes all the destination/dealer fees.
Hi, I'm looking to trade in my 2003 VW Jetta GLS 1.8T w/ Leather Int. I owe 10K on it. Dealer said they would give me 11,500. I was looking the 2007 Pilot EX-L, they offered me a lease for 36 months / 15,000 miles a year $411.00 a month. This is with the $1500 down from my VW trade-in, a money factor of .00097, and they said they are selling me the car $100 over invoice (30,035). The residual value is 55% (18,284.75) I told them I'd like to sleep on it. What do you think? BTW my wife and I are thinking about just getting an EX 4WD w/o leather, but being $2000 less on the invoice it would only reduce our payments $40 a month.... I am try to get the monthly payment to under $400 a month,I currently have 2 years of payments of $436 a mnth left on the Jetta. $370 would be ideal. We have another child on the way and will need the larger vehicle.
More Importantly: Does leasing an auto negatively affect your credit score, if you replace a financed auto loan with it? I'm looking to refinance my mortgage in the Spring and i don't want to go through with this lease if it's going to affect that.
Thanks so much for your help, sorry for the long post.
For a 2007 Pilot EX-L 2WD, edmunds says it is 28767. But i just heard from a dealer that it is actually 29650 - a difference of almost a thousand dollars.
Anyone know what the REAL invoice price is? So far the best quote I got is 800 below invoice but want to make sure i know the correct invoice price.
for the 07 EX-L 2WD, i have a quote for 27,200 + TTL.
I dont know the real price but you know the deal is good when you are emailing a quote to several dealers and many dealers come back saying that they cannot meat it (or they stop calling/emailing you).
I am waiting for next weekend (thanksgiving weekend) to get a 07 Pilot EX for ~25000 + TTL. Honda is also going to have 4.9 APR financing for 5 days during thanksgiving. It should start next Wednesday and ends on Sunday)
Pl let me know if its a good deal on 2007 pilot EX-L 4wd with navigation: Selling Price inclusive of TTL: 33,760 (5% where i stay). How much shld be my lease payment (36 months) if the residual is 55% ($19822). He is ready to give MF of .00097 Please let me know at the earliest.
Hi there, Yesterday I went out and purchased a 07 EX-L pilot 4WD with Nav. I paid $14 to get a consumerreport "report" which basically stated that the invoice price for this trim was $32500 which included destination charge. They also stated that if manufacturer offers a "holdback" to the dealer, it would be about $1063. They suggested to use $31500 as the absolute button starting price in negotiation. Its hard to tell of dealers are getting holdbacks, so decided to start at $32 and ended up with $33. I could have spent my entire saturday playing games with them and perhaps get the car at $32500 but I was OK with $33 and only 30 minutes. This car is very popular in Washington state and the had only one in white with NAV which is hard to come by. After agreeing on the price there came "package" like door frame this and fender edge that totalling $600 which they said that had already put on all their cars. I simply told them that I did not want them and they could take them off (knowing that they would never do that). Then they asked me to just pay their cost on these things which was $200. A this point I grabbed my jacket and thanked him for his time. He stopped me and accepted it, so the advice is not to fall for any of that stuff. The key is to be prepared to leave at any minute. After all this, came an absolutely beautiful young lady with a big smile trying to sell me tons of extras such as extended warrantee, undercarriage protection, paint sealer, anti theft devices, etc. etc. My repeated response was that I had reached my maxed out budget and that I could not even add a $2 air freshner option. If you just keep saying the same thing they will give up. Don't fall for any of the must have this and you need that stuff. This is where they make the real money.
This is perhaps more than you wanted to know. Good luck.

Thanks in advance.
$27,456 included wheel locks, mud flaps, cross bars, and cargo mat.
$45 doc fees
$1,994 taxes
$257 license and gov't fees
$29,752 total out the door
I am pretty happy about this deal. Great service, no surprises. But now that everyone has this information, I expect readers to do me one better.

personally I can't stand them; with that said,
a dealer might charge a couple hundred dollars for a sticker that takes about 20 minutes to apply.
You can find detailers out there that should be able to offer it for $50.

Thanks.
