    $2,000 factory to dealer cash??

I would like to hear this from someone else out there.

My local Honda dealer said there was no cash after I specifically asked.

They were offering some decent interest rates starting
    at 3.9%.
  • ed108ed108 Member Posts: 39
Does anyone actually pay for "protection" packages? My dealer wanted $895 for that garbage which amounted to about $50 worth of stuff from AutoZone.
  • pilotwannabiepilotwannabie Member Posts: 14
3.9 interest rate is for 36 months only. For 60 months it is 4.9%.

Here are the response I got for EXL 2WD (no Nav no RES)
Frank Kent - $30,361 (32 something with accessories)
    Freeman Honda - $29,211
    vandergriff-honda - $29,861 plus accessories, + TT & fees.
McDavid Irving - $28,362 (incl destination)
    Bankston - $28,361 (i believe incl dest)
    Frisco - $29,261 (32k w/ accesories which are
    ridiculously priced)

I am waiting for an update from some more from dallas/houston area.

BTW I am ok without the pro package so if they insist I will walk either way.
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
David McDavid of Irving will definitely give you the protection package for free, just tell them that you would like them to remove the items. If you take a hard line with them they will fold on that issue. They will probably come off the original offer as well, but you will have to negotiate hard.
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
Document fees are often fixed. In TX, they are cheap, but other places are high. I don't think the doc fees are negotiable, other than reducing the price of the vehicle by a similar amount.
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
Frank Kent is a great dealer to do business with and they will almost always match the quotes from other dealers.

    Check out www hondapilot org

Yeah, that's what I've read. I checked out that board before coming here to get an idea of which dealers to talk to initially. After buying an Accord at Lute Riley a couple of years ago I decided I didn't want to deal with them anymore.

I'm trying to see right now if Frank Kent, McDavid Frisco, and McKinney will match McDavid Irving's offer. I doubt they will ($1000 under invoice) but it's worth a try.
  • aspesisteveaspesisteve Member Posts: 833
    you guys who are haggling over a deal at $1,000 below invoice;

what's the dealer/salesman telling you about factory to dealer cash?
aren't you curious if $2,000 cash back is for real? as a recent post claims?

-if it is, you're leaving a big chunk of cash on the table.
  • jmhornsbyjmhornsby Member Posts: 10
I have not asked about the dealer cash. At $1000 below invoice already I feel pretty good about the deal and don't mind the dealer making a little money.

Let me know what you finally get. Are you looking for EX-L 2 or 4WD? and with/without accessories/nav?
  • austexaustex Member Posts: 62
How did you manage 30 something w/ Nav for you 07 4WD EX-L ? Did the car have any miles on it .. like a demo or something or was on the lot for sometime? If not then you are one heck of a negotiator and should give some pointers :-). Thnx
  • austexaustex Member Posts: 62
jimmy : thats there bare bone offer w/o anything accessories. And I really need the running boards and backup sensors. I hope some1 has info on how much they paid for these accessories.
  • austexaustex Member Posts: 62
Lute Riley is promising to match my best offer for 07 EX-L. Why wouldnt you go back?

Also Frank Kent said they are willing to match .. so how does $30k for EX-L 2WD w/ running boards, backup sensors & crossbar sound? I am not sure they will give this drive out.

Anyone know the $$ for running boards, backup sensors & crossbar?
  • jmhornsbyjmhornsby Member Posts: 10
Check http://www.handaaccessories.com for Honda accessories. You can buy that stuff from them and install it yourself (usually a pretty easy ordeal, and they often include instructions on how to do it) and save about 20% off what the dealer will typically charge.

On there they list the running boards at $438 (retail $574), crossbars at $143 (retail $185), and backup sensors for $535 (retail $682). You can probably do the math on your own to find out what they're charging for the car and the accessories separately.

I wasn't happy with Lute Riley because of how they treated me inside the dealership once we agreed to a price on the Accord (which was a good price). They were very insulting concerning the value of my trade-in and tried to slam me with charges for things I was told were already included in the price I was given. Overall a very frustrating experience and one I refuse to go through again.
  • jmhornsbyjmhornsby Member Posts: 10
I'm looking for a 2WD EX-L w/ NAV. No other accessories as I can purchase those separately and install them myself. The only thing I would consider getting from the dealership is window tint, but I think many dealers will include that in their protection package nowadays.

I have a firmed up price of $30,342 as of now from Frank Kent, McKinney, and McDavid Irving. Frank Kent has been the most responsive and helpful of those three with McKinney coming in a close 2nd.
  • austexaustex Member Posts: 62
Thanks for both your responses. I am going to see what Frank Kent will offer.
  • austexaustex Member Posts: 62
One of the quotes I had showed the following fees ...
    Sales Tax $*****
    VIT $90.06
    License $72.30
    Title fee $33.00
    Insp fee $21.75
    Doc fee $50.00
    Deputy fee $5.00

I think Insp fee should be less(or this is what is charged in Dallas,TX)?,VIT shouldnt be there and deputy fee???
  • jmhornsbyjmhornsby Member Posts: 10
That price for inspection makes sense since Dallas County has emissions testing that is much more stringent than Travis County.
  • mattchalmersmattchalmers Member Posts: 159
Don't get the window tint, if you can avoid it. Frank Kent has tint done on all of their vehicles, but the Pilot EX has tint on all but the front windows. No way you should pay more than 50 bucks for just two windows.
  • titancheermomtitancheermom Member Posts: 2
I have two quotes from dealership in the area.

    Enfield CT - 31,800
    Natick MA - 31,658

    Can I do better????
  • jmhornsbyjmhornsby Member Posts: 10
We picked up the vehicle last night and I noticed this prior to delivery. We didn't have to pay for the tint. I think tinting the front windows should run about $80-100 which isn't bad at all.
  • newcar27newcar27 Member Posts: 3
Since this message board has been a great reference for me as I've been negotiating for my '07 AWD EX-L, I wanted to post that my final price was $30,200 including the $595 delivery (but not taxes). I thought that was pretty reasonable.
  • pilotwannabiepilotwannabie Member Posts: 14
    Does your price include Navigation?
  • wmp4wmp4 Member Posts: 13
Yet again, it appears that theres a new incentive that just popped up. Can anyone confirm a $2000 - $3000 factory to dealer on the 07 pilots? Prices seem to be strangely low.
    thanks.
  • titancheermomtitancheermom Member Posts: 2
Did this EXL have NAVIGATION or DVD included?
  • austexaustex Member Posts: 62
Also what kind of mileage did the car have? I have heard dealers trying to sell cars with some mileage or which have been sitting on the lots for some time for deals. If not congrats.
  • newcar27newcar27 Member Posts: 3
Thanks, my pilot had just 9 miles on it when I drove off the lot. The dealer tried to switch me to a test driven Pilot with 1,500 miles, but I just laughed at that idea. Mine doesn't have navigation or dvd.
  • austexaustex Member Posts: 62
I just checked frankkent website and all of them have # Badging Kit & Window Tinting installed options
  • ekcekc Member Posts: 32
I negotiated a purchasing price on a Pilot but when I told the dealer that I wanted to lease, they told me that I have to pay $800 more than the best price.

    Is this common?

    Thx.
    Eric
  • pilotwannabiepilotwannabie Member Posts: 14
When you lease the car, they add acquisition fee. This fee is usually around $600.
  • ekcekc Member Posts: 32
The dealer told me that this is a price premium and not an acquisition fee per se. The amt is $800 and the payment is only about $30 per month more...

For leasing, I already thought that one would negotiate the best price as if one were to purchase the car and then work out the structure for the leasing.

I wonder others who have leased a Pilot or other Honda models had a similar experience.
  • jmhornsbyjmhornsby Member Posts: 10
Now that the month is over, I'm sure prices will creep back up for a couple of weeks at least.

We picked up our '07 Pilot EX-L 2WD w/ NAV on Wednesday night. Negotiated a final out-the-door price of $32,500 which set the actual selling price (before TT&L) at $30,335. This vehicle included the pro package in the price plus a couple of goodies (mud guards, cargo net, wheel locks).

They offered 4.9% APR for 60 months but since we had competitive financing in hand we turned it down.
  • jmhornsbyjmhornsby Member Posts: 10
Our price of $30,335 included NAV.
  • robbygrobbyg Member Posts: 61
Never heard of a "premium" on a lease deal.. I would check out other dealers in the area if I were you.
  • austexaustex Member Posts: 62
I am being offered 32000 drive out price with running boards, backup sensor and crossbar on a 07 2WD EXL. Think its good?
  • austexaustex Member Posts: 62
What kind of competitive financing did you get and from whom?
  • jmhornsbyjmhornsby Member Posts: 10
That would make the price of the Pilot + accessories $29,950 or so. Considering the invoice of the AWD Pilot EX-L ($30,530) + the accessories (about $1200) and you're looking at a pretty good deal, I think.

We financed through USAA for 5.99%. I don't see the 1% APR differential between the deals worth going with Honda. I finance my Accord through Honda now, and they've been very pleasant to deal with, but it was easier to cut them a check via USAA than go through the hassle of the finance office.
  • austexaustex Member Posts: 62
Mine is 2WD not AWD. Invoice on a 2WD 07 EXL is 28,766.86 (non including the dest charge). I am looking at 28361 (including dest) + around 1700 in accessories.

Here are some more prices that are advertised in today's Sacramento Bee. These are advertised prices. Internet quotes have already been lower.

    LX 4WD - $26,488 Elk Grove Honda

    LX 4WD - $26,495 Auburn Honda

Both are offering 3.9% financing 36 month

Autowest Honda Roseville is offering .9% financing 36 month, no prices advertised. Their internet folks will beat any local written quotes as they did for me. You can also review their inventory online.

    I was receiving quotes for a the 4WD EXL at $28,600 and 2WD EXL-RES at $28,800.
  • macushmacush Member Posts: 4
Just received a price quote from a Westchester, NY dealer for a Pilot EX-L 07 (no navi or DVD system) for $30,036. This price does not include destination, registration, or taxes.

Does this sound like a good deal?
    Thanks

Is it AWD or 2WD?? If its a AWD...i wud say its a good deal
  • macushmacush Member Posts: 4
    Yes, it is AWD.
  • macushmacush Member Posts: 4
Any suggestions for getting the best price for financing? I have always leased and this would be my first buying experience. I have excellent credit rating.
    Thanks
  • hfzeushfzeus Member Posts: 39
I am not sure if that is a good price, but it is 3000+ more than the 06 EXL 4WD. Ouch!

If it is WP, stay away (for service too). Honda of Westchester sometimes gives good prices, but not often. Yonkers is usually badly beaten by NJ prices, but will work with you if you have a competing quote. I got my last Honda from New Rochelle. They beat all other local prices and honored the email deal instead of trying to add bogus fees at the last minute.

As far as financing, get a quote before negotiating with the Honda dealership. They sometimes match the financing, but you will probably pay a higher rate if you don't shop around first.
  • macushmacush Member Posts: 4
Yeah, I does seemd like alot more.

Honda is not offering any incentive program now--that I know of.

It is the Mt Kisco dealership. I have bought from them before and I like their service dept too.

hi..I'm planning to buy 2007 Ex-L AWD (Rear Ent system). I live in NJ. Could you suggest me a good price that I can try for? Your price seems to be very good. Where did you purchase this vehicle from? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi - am trying to locate a list of dealer installed options for the 2007 pilot including MSRP vs. invoice cost per item. Am on the market for a 2007 EX-L 4WD w/NAV. since its MSRP is $35,445 (3% holdback of $1063) and invoice of $31,912, am prepared to start at $31,912 + $595 dest = $32,507 - 1063 or $31,443 excluding tax/title/registration. would prefer to wheel locks, crossbars, rear splash guards, chrome side steps, day/night rearview mirror, etc. but need some price benchmarks to work with. Although I will have a trade-in, since it's not even 2007 yet and I'm not in need of car, am hoping to find the right car and price eventually. thanks.
