    Hi.

I just read your posting an I am interested in knowing which dealer gave you the deal and the name of the sales rep. I want to know so when I'm ready, I will go there too and say I would like the same deal. Just let me know if I can email you for the information.

    Thanks in advance,

    Allan

Just sent me an email I will give you the names. But be aware that even with the names I give you, you still need to do some home work. There will certainly be some negotiation.

Just purchased a Pilot EX-L for $27,300 plus TTL. I thought it was a decent price for Orange County, Southern CA.

I just talked to the Frisco dealership and they will honor the same deal and even pick me up from the airport! I am thinking serious about flying out there and driving back. I don't really want to. If I can get my local dealers to drop down to 23,600...When I told the local dealers about the $23,099 deal (before I confirmed it with directly talking to Frisco dealership)they basically were saying that was impossible. Well, I just emailed them tonight and let them know that it is the "real deal" and they better counter with something around 23,600 or else I am flying out there. We shall see what happens tomorrow.

    Hi,

you are really thinking about flying down here? if u are i think you should have things in written via email or whatever about the exact out of the door price.

the negotiation was not easy. they started of by quoting $22,500, however when my husband sat down with them, they added upto $1500 in options (that too only cargo tray, mud guards and wheel locks and the sealant package). my husband walked away telling them that its no where near to what he was quoted and we did not need those options. they are hardly worth less than $200 anyway.

once he was out of their office they called him back again and quoted 23,099. he went back, took all the details but did not commit at the desk. the next day he asked for the final price including the tax, ttl etc and told them that we will sign only at that price. they agreed. but watch this, when we went to sign the deal, and were going over the details, the options were MISSING but the $600 were added up!!

we asked them and they started whining about how the car might or might not have the options!! i told them to take away the $600 bucks and start the calculations at $22500. then they agreed that if the car does not have the options they will install them. we took that in writing. the way they try to cheat u till the last minute!!

sorry this was long but wanted u to know the whole story before u buy your tickets:-) i am sure they will match up the price in florida.

the internet guy with whom we interacted was nice tho, sadly all the final decisions are not upto him. if u need his contact u can email me.

    good luck.

    Was this a 2WD or 4WD?

I have been searching all over to try and fing my needle in the haystack. I am looking for an '07 Pilot EX-L with Nav. I would like to pay no more than $29,000 and still be able to get the 3.9% financing for 60 months. I need to keep my payments under $500 monthly and this seems to be the best way to do it.
I have emailed dealers around the country and have been quoted 29,000 but at the 6.9% apr. (because they gave me the $1500 cash back off the price of the car)

Anyone have any creative ideas on how I can find my new toy at the price I need?
    Thanks,
    alan

Even for FWD, you are looking to get $2700 off invoice. I don't see how you can do that and get special financing.

Even if someone gave you the car for $29k and gave you 3.9% for 60 months, you are quite a bit over $500/mo. With taxes and tags, its around $570. You'd have to put down about $2k plus taxes and tags (around $4k total) to get down to the $500 range.

I'd advise you to get the navigation system aftermarket. I have read negative things about the Honda system, while top-rated Garmin systems go for less than $500.

BTW, I can confirm that there are good deals out there. I just bought a an EX-L 2WD for $27,000 plus tax. (I'm still impressed by the guy who got the 4WD for that.) I still don't fully get how these deals are happening since even my price was more than $1500 below invoice.

Hey eaglepilot, was that $27k deal at Curry in Atl?
  • mbeskindmbeskind Member Posts: 22
Could not have been more clear with Conyers Honda about my desire for a EX-L 2WD with zero additional items. Worked out the price ($27,092+ TTL), got them to e-mail me showing the drive-out with tax, lemon law fee, etc. ($29019, inc 7% sales tax).
Suddenly, they call and tell me that the specific car I want has a "package" on it, including mud guards (worth $50-ish) and then the junk - paint sealant, soundproofing, etc. Told him I'd go $100 on the package that he says retails for $700 but his actual cost is $295 (pants on fire). He says yes, then faxes me a buyers order that includes the package of junk at $200. Was I willing to walk over $100. You bet I was! Will post the honest, up front deal from Hennessey separately.

What was the base price before all the options?
  • eaglepiloteaglepilot Member Posts: 19
    Why, yes. :surprise: Either:

    a) you are a mind-reader;

    b) you work for Curry Honda; or

    c) you just got a very similar internet price quote.

    So, which is it?

Or d) I mentioned Curry Honda earlier...

This site was very helpful to me so I thought that I would post the deal that I got tonight. 2007 EX-L AWD (no nav or DVD) for $28,250 with the 0.90% financing. Bought it at Clair Honda in Boston (W. Roxbury). Great dealership to work with...no games or broken promises. I had poor experiences with the quote process from Boch and Herb Chambers; they were are total turn off! They didn't give good deals with the extra (chrome steps, mud guards), but I can get these off ebay. Good luck folks.
  • crazy_runnercrazy_runner Member Posts: 6
Wow, that is a great deal! I'm in SW of Philadelphia and I'm trying to the same vehicle (2007 EX-L AWD no junk & 0.9% financing) but so far none of the dealers I've contacted are willing to move much below invoice. I don't understand it, there is A LOT of inventory out there but yet no one wants to move it. Guess they figure they will be overrun with people in the next few days trying to get the financing and willing to pay higher price.

Nimbus Grey $27,345 + TTL. Drive out with 7% tax is 29,300. Also used them for financing 60 months @ 6.19% and they threw in the rear splash guards. Could've gotten the 3.9% but would've paid $1500 more for the car.
Worked through Hennessey Internet Sales Manager. No names per forum rules, but SHE was very nice and easy to work with. Picking up tomorrow afternoon. Anybody want to buy an '01 Ody? ;)
  • sboyd1sboyd1 Member Posts: 13
I think it's interesting that people choose the discounted price over preferred financing. Near as I can tell they equate to an almost equal figure at final payment.

    $27345 * 1.07 = $29259 @ 6.19% ~= $568/mo * 60 = $34080

    $28845 * 1.07 = $30864 @ 3.9% ~= 567/mo * 60 = $34020

Am I missing something or am I just math-impaired?
  • asr1asr1 Member Posts: 10
It does amount to the same deal .. its true.

We chose the discounted price and a 36 month loan with the calculation that we will pay it off faster than 36 months. That way the interest amount is less and the discounted price pays off. i guess its a personal decision.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,429
If you choose a discounted price, and then sell your car in two or three years, you'll be ahead of the person that took the cheap financing...

It only works out even, if you assume that you will keep the car long enough to complete the finance contract.

I was in that same situation two/three weeks ago and could not get below $29,750 with fin. I gave up and then I had dealers calling asking me if I was still looking. It's a wait and see game I guess.
  • crazy_runnercrazy_runner Member Posts: 6
I'm fax attacking a bunch of dealerships in the area Monday, beyond the few local ones I've already talked to. It's suppost to be the absolute best time of the year to buy a car (last few days of January). We'll see...
  • mbeskindmbeskind Member Posts: 22
Thanks kyfdx - that's the logic I was using. But to go a step further, isn't the relevant point when you pay off the loan, not necessarily when you sell the car? In other words, if one gets a nice big bonus 3 years after buying the Pilot and pays off the 60 month loan with 24 months to go, you win having had the lower price, regardless of whether you actually sell the car.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,429
Exactly... The earlier you pay off the loan.. for whatever reason.. .the more sense it makes to take the cash, and not the cheap financing...

3.9% is not a good deal if you put a significant amount of money down. A dealer tried to pull that one on me today. The finance charge was less than my loan's finance charge, but you pay $1500 more for the vehicle. Some quick math gives you the answer.

Black 'n Tan EX-L with no extras except:

Pro pac (4 mud guards, locks, and cargo mat) which no one should have to pay more than a few bucks for anyway

$28,300+TTL (except I'm a resident of Alaska and don't have to pay commie sales tax!)

Not the best deal on this forum, I may have been able to save another $500-1000, but I bought from the local Wichita Falls boys and paid a little extra to save the @ss pain. Whatever. I put $11,000 down.

I have an interest in purchasing an EX-L 2WD. How can I contact the Hennessey Internet Sales Manager?
  • valemonvalemon Member Posts: 5
I got a 4WD LX out the door for $25,274.00 last night. Took the incentives and using credit union at 5%. Car price was $23,700.00 before VA tax, tags, destination, processing. I hope this was a good deal :confuse:

In case it was a good deal and others might be interested, I got it at Ourisman Honda in Bethesda.

If it was a bad deal, I am going to be sad. :(
  • urrighturright Member Posts: 1
Got it yesterday. $23000 before Tax. No destination charges. 5.84%APR * 36ms. Honda Clair at West Roxbury, Boston, MA.

    How is this?
  • asr1asr1 Member Posts: 10
    (Have posted this before)

Got a similar deal last week in Dallas Texas. Silver Pilot LX 2WD for $23,099,(mud guards, cargo tray, locks and the sealant package included & for which nobody should pay for anyway)+ tax + TTL. Came to $24770 OTD.

took the financing from COSTCO at 5.64% for 36 months.

    Hi ,
Some of the Honda dealers here talk about Pilot being a hot car that is flying of the lots...
Here is some research I had done and I think Pilot's price has nowhere else to go , but DOWN !!!

    Pilot Sales 2005 vs 2006
    Sales 2005 2006 % Down
    Dec 18788 14962 -17%
    Nov 12040 9520 -21%
    Oct 10872 8335 -20%

Just checking if anyone in my vecinity has recently closed a deal on an EX-L AWD w/ Navigation in the NYC area. What was your best price and from who?
  • poodiepoodie Member Posts: 22
Hi Guys, really been great browsing through this forum with prices and experiences of you guys

I just got some quotes, looking to get a 2wd LX in the next couple of day. Take a look at my quotes, all OTD prices:

    1) 24,796
    2) 25,021
    3) 25,520

had some quoted for EX-L, but seems out of my price range:

    1) 27,606
    2) 29,863
    3) 30,360

how are these prices? I think the reduction is better for the LX. any comments on which would have better resale value proportionally or which would have less depreciation?

Thanks in advance for any help. If anyone wants the sales person and dealership names, pls msg or email me, more than willing to help
  • eaglepiloteaglepilot Member Posts: 19
Does that first EX-L price include tax and fees??? An EX-L for $27,606 OTD is crazy!

yes, I do corporate purchasing... I am very sure that is Out The Door Price, inclusive of everything (though i have not gone to the dealer). I will be making sure they check that there are no options on the car and have the documents written up with the price and faxed to me before i go in.

how about the LX price? is that good or just an average OTD price
  • redspot321redspot321 Member Posts: 8
I called coggin honda in orlando about a pilot, the sales guy told me offer 4000 off sticker, any model, and there would be no questions asked, easy sale.........

Has anyone else out there been offered a deal like this? Its about 1.5 hrs from my house. I would hate to drive all the way out there and get screwed.
  • poodiepoodie Member Posts: 22
that is not the best considering first offers by many dealers by email are either that or lower. I am getting 4400 under invoice for best offers for the LX

amazingly, i got a 6700 off MSRP for the EX-L

    probably pick one up tomorrow

    I am in SOCAL.

anyone got anything better? any comments?
  • redspot321redspot321 Member Posts: 8
"amazingly, i got a 6700 off MSRP for the EX-L"

:surprise: :surprise: :surprise: Anyone else? Im going to buy tonite, need some info....

I just bought an EX-L 4WD for $7040 off the MSRP in Boston area. It includes destination charge, but I also paid $300 extra doc fee.
  • poodiepoodie Member Posts: 22
so what is the exact price you got? $33,245 plus TTL? please be precise, the few hundred dollars would determine my target price. Thank you very much.

by the way, my 6700 off msrp was for EX-L 2wd. does that sound about right?

some dealer just called to tell me that at 4000off MSRP for LX is breaking even. "now we just see who would like to lose more money" Well, he's a good guy, so i sympathise a bit. so what's their motivation in going so low???

    any ideas?
  • soxfanzsoxfanz Member Posts: 15
Does your quote include destination charge?

My exact price was $26800 for EX-L 4WD. The MSRP for that trim (including destination charge is $33840). Because the 2WD trim is $1300 less then 4WD trim. If you get $6700 off the MSRP of $31945, which should be $25245+destination = $25840. I think it is a very good deal. You migh get a few hundred more off. Just give it a try, but don't blow the deal.
  • poodiepoodie Member Posts: 22
it already includes destination. so I was getting 25,245 plus tax and no other dealer fees, only dmv stuff and sales tax, what they call TTL here.
  • redspot321redspot321 Member Posts: 8
So Basically I can figure 4000 off an lx and up to 7000 off an ex?
  • poodiepoodie Member Posts: 22
4400 off an LX and 6700 off an EX-L is what i got.

there is a difference between the EX and the EX-L
