final Out The Door prices (everything included) for the

    LX 24,796

    for the

    EX-L 27,606

There is about $4300 difference between the invoice of LX 2WD and EX-L 2WD.

In the OTD prices u were quoted, there is a less than $3000 difference. So the EX-L is obviously a better deal. We got the LX 2WD last week for 24,772.. OTD. very close.
  • poodiepoodie Member Posts: 22
yah, the guy is off today. was going to confirm with him the color, the actual car, without options.

by the looks of it the EX-L is definitely more worth it, both in terms of value for money and resale value.

I even priced out individual additions with my friend and it seems quite worth the money for the "extras"

so after tax it is a $2,820 price difference, valued with my car option value-meter (brain and pen) at $2,735 after tax, very close and no I didn't cheat, I really worked it from individual options.

    value to me - extra
    1) $700 - 7 speaker, 6 disc changer, controls on steering wheel
    2) $200 - Auto climate control
    3) $200 - Machined Alloy wheels
    4) $800 - Moonroof
    5) $600 - Leather seats

Just the way I valued them. seems good value. any comments?

I bought from Clair Honda in Boston area on Jan 20th. It's an EX-L 4WD, the MSRP: $33840 (including destination charge). invoice: $30530.

    My deal was:
    Contract price: $26800 (including destination)
    Doc fee/prep fee: $299
    Registration/title: $126
    Massachusetts Tax: $1340
    Total paid: $28565
    No trade-in.
  • asr1asr1 Member Posts: 10
EX-L s definitely makes sense esp. with this kind of price.

we did not even look for EX-L..
First: it was beyond our budget.
Second: did not want to stretch our means for the options which are mostly luxury ( but great to have:) ).
Third: would probably pull this car along with us till it has no resale vaue:-).

BTW, is this EX-L AWD or 2WD that u are looking at? if this is a 4WD its excellent!!

    Hello all-
I am astonished at the OTD prices I am seeing from some of you around the country for a Pilot EX-L. Anyone out there in STL buy a Pilot in recent weeks? Where from? What kinds of deals are STL dealers accepting?

For others: when you are saying you are getting 4K-5K off MSRP (in some claims), does this include any rebates? I would be looking to finance at 3.9% over 60 months, which is still apparently available in my neck of the woods, but going for the low financing negates getting the rebate, if I am not mistaken.

Thanks in advance to all responders.

damn it, I decided to go Toyota FJ Cruiser, similar stuff for 28,500

    thanks you guys

    Hi soxfanz...

Did your $28,565 price include any "rebates?"

Did you use Honda's Financing option? If so, which one?

    Thanks-

OK, I tried but I couldn't even come close to the SoCal and Boston deals posted here with the .9% financing. Here is what I ended up with:

    EX-L 4WD $29,540.00
    Splashguards
    Wheel Locks
    Cargo Tray
    Tax (PA 6%) 1,772.40
    Tag (transfer) 88.50
    -----------
    $31,400.90 OTD

Had I not taken the .9% and opted for th $1500, Price would have been $28040.00 +TT, OTD would have been $29810.90. But doing the .9% was easy. It saved me the time of securing financing elsewhere, and my time is definitely worth money!

I am very confident I got the best deal available in this area. I fax blasted 22 dealerships and got responses from 19 of them. Initial responses ranged from $1200 over invoice to $800 under invoice (I ended at $990 under invoice + addins). In the end, I had two dealers competing for the sale. I did the entire transaction over the phone/fax and they delivered the car to me (I'm 35 miles from the dealership).

So my guy says he is losing > $400 on the sale. So how can dealers in other areas possibly be charging significantly less? Where the heck are they finding the margin???
  • soxfanzsoxfanz Member Posts: 15
It should include rebate, I got the low price and dealer took the rebate.

    No financing, No trade.

that's good...I think u have excellent quotes on pilot. Do you mind sharing dealership and sales man names with me.??

I live in So Cal and I am looking for EX-L 2WD..

    thanks

I'm trying to decide between buying new and used. A local dealer contact says Honda will be announcing new incentives on the Pilot on February 6th. Does anybody have any inside info about what they might be? He mentioned AS AN EXAMPLE (I don't want to start any unfounded rumors) that it might be a $3,000 rebate (instead of the current $1,500). So I figured I could wait five days to find out. If anybody knows what might be coming, please share. Thanks!

I heard from several dealers that the invoice price on Pilots has gone up $300 and the dealer holdback has been reduced to 2%. The car I bought was one of the last ones they had at this particular place that had 3% holdback value. With this knowledge you may be able to get a good deal now. Good luck!
  • minnesotamanminnesotaman Member Posts: 2
Thanks, crazy runner. But I have to admit that I don't know what you mean by "holdback" value. Is that the same as the $1500 cash back to dealer offer?
  • crazy_runnercrazy_runner Member Posts: 6
No, it is separate. Holdback is the amount of money the manufacter will pay the dealer when the auto is sold. For example, Honda will pay the dealer 3% of invoice price ($997) when they sell an EX-L. You typically can't ask the dealer to give you this outright, but if they try and cry about not making any money on a deal, you can remind them about the holdback $...

There is also other money available from the manufacturer to the dealer based on volume, location, etc but that information is very hush hush. Some dealership make very little money on sales and make up for it in the service department down the road.

    Hello Crazy Runner,

When you get the chance, can you please share what you wrote on your initial faxes to the dealers when requesting quotes?

I have tried the email blast and came up with the following for an EX-L 4WD NAV in So Cal (I wont list dealers because I am not sure if that would be appropriate):

    A) Sell Price: $32,670.00 (incl dest)
    B) Sell Price: $30,594.53 (incl dest); OTD = $33,476.87 (w/ fees? @ 353.75 & tax @ 2,528.59).
    C) Sell Price: $30,605.00
    D) Sell Price: $31,457.00 (incl dest); OTD = $34,403.49 (w/ tax @ 2,599.75, DMV @ 283.00, docs @ 55.00, tire tax @ 8.75).
    E) Sell Price: $31,326.00
    F) Sell Price: $31,007.00 (incl dest); OTD = $34,193.65 (w/ tax @ 2,583.90, DMV @ 289.75, docs @ 55.00, locks/mud @ 258.00).
    G) Sell Price: $32,826.00 (incl dest)
    H) Sell Price: $29,640.00
    I) Sell Price: $30,326.00

Some of them were specific and none of them would confirm if they had the car on the lot. Would I be able to use these quotes to negotiate on any EX-L 4WD NAV? What do you guys think?

    Thank you,

    Alfred!

My faxes were almost word for word the same as in the fighting chance package. I highly recommend their package. I first used it 14 years ago and every time I buy a new car (only 3x in the past 14 years), I have gone back and used his methods and they work flawlessly each time.

As for your quotes, what do you mean they won't tell you if they have the car in stock? That's B.S!

As for what you have, theat $29,640 number (if it is real) is pretty good if you are planning on taking the financing. Did you specify cash or financing in your emails? If you are asking for cash deal, you should be around $28K for a low price (at least based on what I saw in my area - YMMV).
  • tomf3tomf3 Member Posts: 9
My local internet manager said something similiar, ALTHOUGH she said they could go up, stay the same, or go away altogether, depending on whether Honda met their sales goals with the current incentive. Did your contact seem to imply that they weren't meeting their sales goals with the current incentive. Man, if they were to offer 3K off I would be on it like white on rice. My best price currently using the cash is 29,299 on EXL RES and 27,861 on EXL - another 1500 would sew it up.

Everyone wants CR-V ... up almost 50% comparing to Jan 2006

    Minnesotaman,

Where are you getting that deal on an EXL-RES? I am in IL and looking at an EXL-RES as well, but now want the EXL-Navi, but they are both about the same price. I was quoted at $30,295. I thought that was a good deal, but not as good as your $29,299.
  • dafredstahdafredstah Member Posts: 8
    Hello Crazy Runner,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not quite sure whether these prices are for cash or financing...I'll need clarification. At least now I know where I should be at.

    Thanks again,

I'm so conflicted between 2007 Pilot LX 4WD for 23,800 plus Tax and Title or the EX for 26100 plus Tax and Title. (After many quotes, this is what I have obtained.) First of all, do you think these are good prices? And secondly, which one should I chose - LX or EX? Any advice would be really appreciated.

    Thanks
  • rts3rts3 Member Posts: 26
Wow! This is just 600 more than te quoted price for the simple EX (not EX-L) quoted to me in Chicago. Anybody caan suggest a dealer in Chicagoland who can match this price? Thanks!!
  • jrsuperstarjrsuperstar Member Posts: 16
I have solicited 2 quotes on a Pilot 4WD EX-L from St. Louis area dealers...got the exact same quote from each one: $30,530. Needless to say, that doesn't compare favorably to what others on this board are getting quoted...

Sounded a little bit like "collusion" until I realized that this price is simply "Invoice + Destination."

I got these quotes by emailing the respective dealers, and having their "Internet Sales Manager" reply to me.

One of the replies lamented how the dealer holdback is going from 3% down to 2%....boo-hoo! As if that extra approx. $700 (2% of MSRP) shouldn't have been their next offer in a price negotiation? Shouldn't their next offer have been 30,530 - 700 = 29,830 or so? Apparently, they are in no mood to negotiate by email, they just say "If you get another internet quote that is better, I will beat it."

Anyway, they are giving me $3000 off of MSRP simply by sending them an email. But so far, I am not getting the types of quotes some of you are seeing in other cities.

I am thinking of buying the "fighting chance" package for $35 and seeing if that gets me anywhere. I saw that crazy_runner had some success doing that....anyone else ever tried that?

Maybe the "hunches" are true, and the Honda incentives on Pilots will get better after the current offers expire 2/5/07.

Would you mind sharing which dealerships you had these quotes from? I'm also thinking about Pilot LX 4WD (in Chicago area). I haven't tried to get any email quotes from dealers yet. Thanks!
  • tomf3tomf3 Member Posts: 9
I'm tomf3 not Minnesotaman (figuring out who somebody is a little confusing isn't it)

That quote ended up being for 2wd - oh the games they play the salesmen....

My next best was $29,490 and that is near Atlanta, GA.
  • srinaldisrinaldi Member Posts: 22
Check with Honda of Lisle or the sister dealership Honda of Joliet. They seemed to list on Ebay cheap and the contact persons name is listed in the auctions. I called him and he seemed to be as upfront as you can ask for over the phone.

Bought the Pilot EX 4WD in the Milwaukee area. Struck throgh internet sales; for $ 26,186 + TTL and $ 89.00 service fee. I was OTD @ 27,843.00 (5.5% tax) no other options were on the vehicle. Had to drive south to Milwaukee a couple of hours. Could not get to a good price in the Fox Valley so the drive was worth the $ 700.00

Sounds like other markets (BOSTON) are fairing better that Wisconsin area. Picked it up Friday. I didn't want to drive additional miles to Chicago so I did not try anything south of Milwaukee, But your $ 26,100 sound fair until Tuesday, than who knows what.
  • pilot7pilot7 Member Posts: 2
OH forgot, I think your resale value of the EX probably will probably hold better longer, and get additional looks in the resale market years down the road. So I think the additional $2300 is a wise investment, and you will enjoy this vehicle much more.
  • rts3rts3 Member Posts: 26
Sure.. The dealer is Castle Honda.
Following are the prices for 4WDs:

    LX, EX, EX-L

    23,822, 26,064, 28,131

Just add tax, title and doc. fee $58.48 Destination charge included.

I got it from another dealer (NOT recommended) who charged me 250 less than Castle. I'll post the details soon.

    Hi!

Today, the Honda dealer sold me the EPP Package (Coating + warranty for both inside and outside). He was asking for 1150 for it and then came down to 500. Do you think it's worth it? In my invoice, I saw it added to the cost of the car. He told me that the service department will call me to schedule an appointment for the coating and then the warranty can be used anywhere. Anybody knows more about it? Did I get ripped off?

The lease on my current vehicle expires the end of July. We are looking for some advice on the purchase of a new Honda Pilot. When does Honda's new models (2008) show up at the dealership? Does anyone know if a model change is planned for 2008? What discount should I look for under invoice by purchasing at the end of this model year (2007). Should I just wait for the new model? I appreciate your information and help.
  • fenwahfenwah Member Posts: 58
$28,131 for the EX-L AWD Pilot? That is the best price I have seen. My local dealers are not swaying from invoice ($30,500 incl dest). That's a huge savings for only a 5 hour car ride. I think I will be calling.
  • poodiepoodie Member Posts: 22
these prices are all possible to find with about 1-2 weeks work.

anyone need help doing this work? email me and we might be able to work something out. haha. well, i do purchasing work for a living and this just feels like everyday stuff.

Got some great prices for LX and EXL 2wd out the door in SoCal if anyone wants them. LX 2wd Before tax 22,647, OTD 24,796. EX-L 2WD before tax 25,211, OTD 27,587
  • flicka123flicka123 Member Posts: 2
That's better than any of the quotes I've received in So Cal. I am interested in the EX-L 2wd. Could you share the dealer's name? Thanks.

Does the EX-2Wd price of 25,211 included destination? Also are the honda low interest rates available at this price?
  • poodiepoodie Member Posts: 22
    includes destination charge.

25211 * your tax (8.25 in my case)
    +231 dmv registration
    +8.75 tire fee
    +55 dealer documents fee

    27,585

    sounds about right.

anyway, i bought my FJ cruiser on Feb 3rd and buying my boss' Lexus RX350 in 2 days. damn, tired of shopping for cars man.

anyone want to hire me to buy a car for them? i will only take some of the saving i get you after you look hunt for prices. win-win situation

    Hi flicka123,

Any good offers for your EX-L 2WD? I'm also looking for one in So Cal. So far the lowest I got was $2k below invoice.
  • azorglubazorglub Member Posts: 43
I was told by a dealer in the SF bay area that Honda increased its invoice and charges California dealers an extra 1%. Net net, the invoice price given to me was $32,400 for the EX-L RES AWD, which is about $1k higher than what is listed on Edmunds.

I think that I'll wait until prices come down over the summer.
  • semajonlinesemajonline Member Posts: 1
    Hi,

I went to the dealer this past weekend and through little negotiation, was able to get a quote for 30995 for EXL-AWD w/Nav. However I am not sure if that's with the .9% financing. The dealer has called me back to schedule a test drive, which I will probably do either tomorrow or the following day.

Any tips or advice? Should I tell him 29k with .9 financing and see if he'll eventually settle on 29k cash? Does that seem too low? What should my target amount be?

I requested a quote for 07 Pilot LX on internet, and I got an e-mail from a nearby dealer internet fleet manager with the price of: $22800 for 07 Pilot LX.

I called the dealer internet fleet manager and asked what else I had to pay besides $22800? he replied firmly that 22800 plus tax and license, that it.

I came to the leader with the e-mail of the price of $22800, and ask to see the internet fleet manager to buy the car:

    ROUND 1:
The internet fleet manager was not available , and he assigned a saleman to help me. I show the saleman the letter and ask to test drive the one on the letter, which price of $22800. He show me the car, after the test drive , I am agree to buy the car.
When we sit down and do paperwork, the saleman told me that the price is 22800 plus $700 for some kind of coating to protect the paint and $400 for a set of lock nut on the wheel , plus tax and license . I firmly asked the saleman to shown me the car of $22800 without paint coating nor wheel lock nut or I walkout of the dealer.
He said let he talk to the internet fleet manager.

    ROUND 2:
The internet fleet manager came, he is the same person who wrote me the e-mail, and also the same person who talk to me on phone. He came with a piece of paper and ask to for the price of:
    - car $22800
    - coating + lock nut : $400
    - Tax 8.25%
    - License : .... some amount that DMV request.
    - Document : $50
    - And some kind of [non-permissible content removed] paper work fee : $200, I asked him, what is this $200 fee ? he replied this fee is required by the Honda Corporation. Oh gosh.

    I walkout of the dealer.

In the case you may ask what dealer, the dealer is in California, Signal Hill area (near Long Beach), on Spring street, near corner of Spring and Orange.
  • rts3rts3 Member Posts: 26
The dealer pulled the same crap on me in Chicago with $500 for EPP package (inside-outside coating with warranty). I still took it as it was only 200 more than the lowest quote without EPP.

Well, did anybody notice, that carsdirect price has increased by $1,500 for all Pilot models. Seems like Honda pulled the promotion back. Though I suspect, a new one should be around the corner soon.

The old incentives ended yesterday. Haven't heard anything about a new one. But, sales of the Pilot last month were down 10% compared to last year (and last year was so bad that it led to the incentives of last summer). And, the new Highlander appears tomorrow ...
