    Hey All,
Sorry to shift gears (pun intended) a bit, but I found the first pic of the next 330Ci Coupe! The article says they aren't 100% sure if it's unaltered, but I'm sure it's not. I've been holding out for the new coupe, but I'm not totally sold on the proportions. I think the sedan may actually look a little better in this case...I guess I'll have to see it in person.

For what it's worth, wwww.leftlanenews.com is a great site for some of the most up-to-date automotive info around. Here's the link to the coupe's page...enjoy.

Tthe picture looks squished to me if it is supposed to have the same front end as the sedan.

    Cure,
It doesn't look like anyone was willing to answer your question, so I'll try to properly welcome you to the States. While I don't live in Cali, I can tell you that all those taxes sound bogus to me. You should have the sales tax, tag/titling fees and, more than likely, some sort of administrative dealership fee. I've never seen it broken down by business, metro city and local tax...it sounds like their trying to take advantage of you to me. I'm sure there are some folks out here that can answer this much better than I could, particularly those in California.

Did you negotiate the cost of the car, or is what they said it'll cost? That processing fee is WAY TOO much IMO! $300 is extreme to say the least. I would go for $100 or so, but I would never pay $300...they might as well call it the rip-off that it is - dealer prep.

Hope this helped, if not, ask the forum again and maybe someone out there will step up and help a brother (or sister) out.

I dont' think it look squished, but the headlights are definitely smaller and more cat-like. They usually alter the front end just slightly with the coupe, which is what I see here. The lights on the sedan square off when it reaches the grill, while this one comes to a point...I prefer the sedan's. If you look at the reflections of the sun, as well as the dirt it looks real. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Interesting...I was given a quote by a dealer for a 3-year lease on a 325i. I went to the BMW "estimate a payment" web page, and using the down payment as my "negotiated discount" - we agreed on 4% over invoice - I came to within $1 of the price he quoted me.

This will be my 3rd BMW I buy from him, and this seems to be a good mechanism to estimate lease payments. Have others found a similar experience?
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
Did you negotiate the price of the car first? The BMW site doesn't allow you to enter the negotiated price of the car.

I guess you could enter your discount off msrp within the trade-in value window. Shrug.
  • briwill21briwill21 Member Posts: 7
After I negotiated the price, I used the down payment field to reflect the $$ negotiated off of MSRP.

So, for instance the MSRP for my configuration was $36,620, but the agreed to price was $34,886. I entered in $1734 into the down payment (I am paying $0 down) to reflect the negotiated discount, and got the end number.

The lightbulb clicked when my salesperson asked me if I priced it out online yet...and I said I didn't think we could do anything but MSRP...he said 'think about it', and I did, and it worked...within a $. Now I haven't run any other prices against it, but it worked within $1 in this case. Logically it makes sense...I am using the down payment to lower the $$ amount that is financed through the lease.

A dealer is quoting me the following lease numbers on a 2006 325i (manual, xenon, sparkling graphite paint):

3 year lease at 12K mi. per year.

    MSRP = $32870
    Invoice = $30555 (including $400 MACO)
    Acq. Fee = $825
    Cap. Cost = $31,305

    Monthly Payment = $441 + tax = $477 (my tax rate is 8.25%)

He said he was using 64% residual, the base BMWFS MF rate and $750 over invoice.

    Good deal?
    Thanks.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 262,177
Is he rolling the acquisition fee into the cap cost? In other words, $31,305 is the selling price... and the cap cost is $32,830, right?

If so, then the numbers are right on the money... The acquisition fee is bumped up by $200, but that still puts you around $1000 over invoice... Not a bad deal with the base money factor..

    Hello kyfdx,

Yes, he is rolling the acq. fee into the cap cost.

I am aware that he marked up the acq. by $200 but I agreed to that after he agreed to bring the MF back down to base (he originally quoted .0029 as MF).

I thought of trying for $500 over invoice but settled on $750 over invoice (not counting the acq. fee). I'm thinking this was a decent deal, not the best one.

    Thanks for your input.

Hey Car Man....been watching the boards and was hoping if you could let me know if this is a good lease deal:

    2006 325xi
    Auto Trans
    Artic Blue Metallic
    Premium Package
    Heated Seats
    Sirius Radio (Installed)

The lease is 36 months, 10,000 miles per year. Money factor is 2.9. Residual is 64%.

    MSRP - $38,720. Selling price (Cap cost) - $37,695.
    0 down--$601.87
    $1,000 - $568.85
    $2000 - $535.85

Are these good payments? They include tax for Colorado at 7.6%.

    Thanks for your help.

This isn't a great deal... They are marking up the money factor the maximum (the base factor is .0025, not .0029), and only giving you a $1000 discount from MSRP

I assume by "0 down", you are still paying the first payment, security deposit and title/licensing fees at signing?

I'd want at least another $500 off of the MSRP, and for them to use the base money factor (.0025).. Together, that would drop your after-tax payment by about $43/mo..

That would be a good deal...

Thanks so much kyfdx. You are correct...the 0 down would be just that, but there would still be drive off costs. I will work with the dealer tomorrow to try and get at least another 500 off the MSRP and ensure that the money factor is .0025. Do you know what residual percentage I should be looking for?

You guys are the best and I really appreciate all of your help! :)
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 262,177
Residuals aren't negotiable.. That 64% is set by BMWFS.. However, if you want 12K/yr, the residual would drop to 63%, and add about $12-$13/mo. to the payment..

I'm looking at: 2006 325Xi manual, Premium Package, Cold Weather and Metallic Paint which brings it to a MSRP of 37720.

The dealer is giving me a $1000 discount.

Total initial payment would be $2411 (first month's payment of $564 plus plates plus plus security plus - but no down payment as such).

Is $564 a bit too much? I think the MF is 0.0029 - what is a reasonable amount I can negotiate that down to?

For a 2003 lease on a very similar vehicle I was able to negotiate the MF down to 0.0019 but that may not work this time around. Please advise.

What is the term of the lease and the mileage allowance? Also, does the payment include sales tax? If so, what is the tax rate?

I have been researching for a 325 convertible and am still looking for a good deal. I have been in contact with a few dealers and when all is said and done, nearly all talk about $2000 down.
When questioned they say that it includes first months payment plus things such as $850 bank fee and $450 dealer fee.

Are these negotiable and what are fair negotiated rates for these things?

What should I be expected as far as money up front.

    Thanks
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 262,177
The base money factor for the 325xi is .0025... I assume the $2411 upfront is $564 payment, $600 security deposit, $625 acquistion fee... That still leaves another $600 for miscellaneous fees and title/licensing which seems a little high..

If they are only giving you a $1000 discount, then it looks like they are using the base money factor.. If they were marking it up to .0029, the payment would be even higher...

I would want it to look like this:

    $37720 MSRP
    $36220 selling price ($1500 off)
    $36845 Cap cost (selling price + $625 acq.fee)
    Money factor .0025
    3yr/45K residual 61%
    Payment = $534/mo.+tax..
Due at signing: 1st payment, security deposit, title/license fees.. Total: about $1400-$1500

I'm not sure how they figure tax in your state, but if they just apply it to the monthly payment, then the total payment would be around $574/mo.. As you can see, this is not far off of your numbers.. Most of the differences can be attributed to the $500 lower selling price that I assumed in my example..

As you can also see.. the lease deals on the 325xi are not all that great right now..

I leased a 3-series convertible just a couple of months ago...

    My fees:
Acquisition fee: $625.. AKA: bank fee.. BMWFS (the leasing company) charges this fee on every lease, as do most leasing companies.. I had them add this to my cap cost, which rolls it into the monthly payment.. BMWFS allows the dealer to mark-up this fee for extra profit.. The maximum allowed is $825.

Title/license fee: $114.. This covered title, plates, registration, state leasing permit, etc, etc.. I didn't even ask for a breakdown of it..

Security deposit: To get the lowest rate, you have to make a security deposit, that is rounded up to the next $50 increment over your payment..

The lease on my car is $529/mo.. My total due at signing was $1194..
    $529 1st pymt
    $550 security deposit
    $114 Title/license fees

That's it... The acquisition fee was rolled into the lease payment.. no dealer fees, no document fees, nothing else..

    Hope this helps..

Geico has mechanical break down insurance coverage. It has a straight $250 deductible. Only for new cars. After the 4/50 warranty runs out, you can do mechanical repairs and only pay $250 per repair total. So it protects against any big repair bills.

For wheels/tires, they tried to sell me on a 5 yr warranty that would protect tires on a pro-rated basis if they got damaged by road hazards. It's not worth it.

To protect your wheels, get full coverage. Most insurance companies cover wheels in their full coverage.

To protect your tires, buy from Costco. They give free road hazard protection. Or you can buy it from an online dealer like tirerack.com
  • sr4b1sr4b1 Member Posts: 20
Also, Geico's coverage is only $70 per year. up to 7/100 just like the extended warranty. I don't know if other companies have the same thing, but for me, it was a big savings over the bmw warranty.

I bought an '05 330Cic.. They were running great lease deals through the end of November, and they had a $2000 dealer incentive... Not a stripper... almost everything is standard on the 330.. Also have xenons, Bluetooth/BMW assist.. metallic paint, etc... NO sport package, though..

It was the last '05 on the lot.... I paid right at invoice... but, the dealer got the $2K incentive, so it wasn't a "bottom dollar" deal... In my experience, they won't let convertibles go for "500 over invoice". I did get the base money factor (.00075), and the residual for 3yr/45K was 61%... the same as it is for the '06 model.

MSRP of just over $49K... and the lease payment was $499/mo. plus tax..

Payments between $650-$700 seem about right on an '06 convertible..

Yeah... see above deal... I couldn't pass it up.. I sold the '03 to a friend of mine...

But, my wife drives the car... The '03 325i Sport was a much nicer drive than the 330 convertible... The convertible is a big pig in comparison.. but, she doesn't care..

I was offered a 05 330i demo with 13000 miles on it for 28,500. Car has the HK, heated seats, premium package, steptronic and leather. It's CPO and since it was a demo, 5,000 miles or 3 months were added to the original warranty.

    So what do you think?

Also what should I pay for the Sirius radio option?

That's about the size of it..... Inventory is so low and demand is really high. Most dealers are calling around trying to get other dealers to trade, but no one will let them go.

You can either pay to get one now (or very soon), or you can wait 6 months and pay a little less.

Looking at a 3 yr/36k lease on an '06 330 Sedan with the following options:
    - Sport Package, Comfort Access, Heated Seats, Satellite Radio, and Silver metallic paint. MSRP is $40,965

I have just had an initial discussion with the dealer and of course, he is trying to get the most out of me as possible. I am interested in learning where will be the best points for negotiation.

    - Acq fee = $825
    - Govt fees and Doc fees = $180
    - Sec deposit = $700
    - lease rate of 2.35, not sure what this equates to as money factor

Quoted $1550 out of pocket and monthly payment of $672.51

That payment feels overly high for this car. What is a reasonable target payment for a similarly equipped 330?

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Chris, RUN from this deal.

I want to share with the forum my deal I just did today, and thank KDYFX and others for their advice.

06, 330i, Metallic, Manual Trans, Sports Pkg, Nav. Car needs to be ordered, will arrive in 2 months. MSRP: $41,370. Sale Price: 38,865. I negotiated to $800 over online invoice, stating I refuse to count MACO.

My lease terms were standard. .00195 MF. $625 acq fee which I rolled into the cap cost. 3 year, 12K per year. at 8.25% tax, my monthly came out to $524.75.

My drive off will be first month, plus $550 security deposit, and about $300 in DMV fees.

The dealer allowed me to pay via credit card a refundable deposit of $500 and I can cancel before delivery.

I want to highly recommend New Century BMW's Internet Sales dept in Alhambra, Southern California. The guy was straight forward, did everything over email, and in 30 minutes in his office, we got it done. He played no tricks, and gave me the exact numbers I had calculated from Kydfx without me ever showing him my numbers.

I'm still in shock over how easy it was, and the $800 over internet invoice was offered to me before I ever gave the configuration I wanted. If you are in SoCal, you have to give these guys a try. However, I don't recommend their live sales people, as our first experience there was very bad. one person first quoted us non-refundable deposit of $1500, then he passed us off to another guy who said non-refundable of $2000, and refused to show me their invoice price, and lectured me on why I owe him MACO and he'll get it from me no matter what. They just didn't have their numbers straight.

Thanks to this forum, I went in the dealership knowing exactly what I wanted and had confidence when the numbers were being shown.

    1. Does anyone know the lease numbers for existing 2005 models on a dealer's lot?

    2. Are there any other incentives for 2005 models?

    3. When does the warranty start -- when I take possession or when the car was built?

I don't think you can still lease the 2005 3-series.... Even if you could, it probably wouldn't be worth because the residual would be so poor.

I'm interested in buying a 330i, however, one of the dealers in the Chicago area is telling me the Edmunds.com invoice price is not accurate. The dealer has other fees added into their invoice. Can you tell me if your invoice price you got from Edmunds matched your dealers?

Which dealer out of interest. And my guess is they are full of it.

They are probably not full of it.... They're probably referring to MACO fees (advertising fees charged by BMW -- do a forum search for "MACO") and also perhaps other incurred costs like PDI (pre-delivery inspection) which, on BMWs, includes removing suspension restraint blocks, programming the computer system, initializing Bluetooth/BMW Assist, etc.....

Do a forum search here on Edmunds... You'll find a lot of discussion on this topic. :)

I'm interested in leasing a 330i before my current car lease comes due (Feb. 20th). I believe the current money factor and residual for a 330i with 10k mi/yr is .00195 and 65%, respectively. Do you guys think the MF will go up or the residual will go down for the month of Feb.? If so, this would make leasing more expensive and it would probably be better to make a deal in January. Does my logic sound correct? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hello-

I'm considering an '06 325i with Metallic, Sport, Cold weather and auto (wife's insistence) Total MSRP of $35,945 including destination.

If we buy we will do the Euro Delivery. Already have flight on hold for late April.

The ED MSRP would be $33,780.

    I am buying, not leasing.

    Are these prices negotiable?

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    a. 6 Speed Manual Transmission
    b. Sport and Premium Packages
    c. Heated Seats
    d. Xenon Adaptive Headlights
    e. Satellite Radio Prep
    f. Titanium Silver Metallic Paint

Total out the door (OTD) price (includes all taxes, title license, dealer fees, dealer profit): $34,827.75

I'm in the NoVA/MD/DC area and would like to know if this is a good deal. Thanks
