I haven't found a good deal on the 335i yet in the oc, though I've mostly gone through the Internet managers so far. I did have a call recently from a guy who I met briefly when I was browsing and he said 400 over invoice. I need to sync up with him again to see if I can still get it. The Internet guys keep quoting 1200-1600 over invoice. though i believe out the door still includes the lic/tax.

The sales tax isn't included in this. The price includes destination charges. Sales tax, license and registration are seperate. I wanted to know if that is a good deal to buy a 328XI Premium package Auto Cold weather package Navigation for $40,652 Thanks.

I live in the Huntington area of Long Island NY and I am looking for either the 328xi or the 335xi. I received price quotes from a dealership near me through my bank's credit union. The options for both were the steptronic, comfort access, heated seats, metallic paint and leather seats. For the 328xi I received a price quote of $38,680 plus taxes and plates, and for the 335xi $44,660 plus taxes and plates. 328xi shows an invoice of 36,200 and MSRP 39,275, only $600 off the MSRP and the 335xi shows an invoice 42,180 and MSRP 45,775 about $1100 off the MSRP. I feel that I didn't have to go through the credit union to get these prices! However, the price quotes are similar to the TMV listed in edmunds. I am interested to hear from others on what kind of deals that they are getting on Long Island and from what dealerships they find easiest to deal with.

    Prestige BMW

Negotiated deal over the phone. New (92 miles) 328i Red Convertible with Dakota Cream Beige Leather, Premium Package, Steptrionic AT, Sports Package, Comfort Access, Heated Seats, USB & I-Pod adapter:

    MSRP $50,600
    Negotiated Price $48,100
Nothing added to Lease and No Cash Down
    73% Residual Value = $36,938
    0.00245 Money Factor
    7% Sales tax in NJ
$721 Monthly Payment (includes the sales tax)

    I brought:
    $750 refundable security deposit
    $850 Ransom/Bank Fee
    $149 Beer Fund/Doc Fee
    $721 First Month's Paymet
$286.50 NJ Reg, Title, Tire Tax

Total = $2,756.50 at Lease signing

    They made $48,100 neg. price - $46,505 inv. = $1,595 + $850 Bank Fee + $149 Doc Fee + about $2,000 manufacturer holdback = $4,594 gross profit

$4,594 seems like a reasonable profit to me on a $50k car. "everybody's gotta eat"

Oh...and I searched about 5 dealerships for a red 328i and this was the only one in our area.

You let a dealer make 4.5k on a 3 series? You're generous. To say the least.

    328XI

    Hi all,

Back on Edmunds post after a while and in a different area (I was perviously in the Honda forums). Well time goes on and bring changes and given I am not crazy about recent styling cues I decided to look at offering industry wide. With my wife we zeroed on a few BMW models and I decided to get to use Edmunds new car tools leading to query 4 dealership in our Chicago area to provide quotes for X5 and 535Xi models. As often is the case I found various elements I was not so sure of. The X5 I was considering was only with the 3.0Si tranny (given I feel we have to do something in way of helping reduce environmental impact) was not really any different than driving my wife C-RV or my Honda Accord so we skipped that one. For the 535Xi I found the 3 star rating on the driver front impact and the rear styling not to suit me. So scrapped everything but that fabulous 6 cyl 3.0L inline twin-turbocharged engine and got an absolutely stunning looking 335Xi loaded with everything but Tech and sport packages. The MSRP I was presented was $47,625 and I brought it home at a ~$2,500 discount. Unfortunately taxes/fees in my area pile up to about an additional 10% and that brought the total cash amount I shelled out just a couple of 100s short of a round $50K. All dealership that responded were courteous and helpful. I can suggest that basically there is very little difference I found among the quotes offered with a standard 3-5 % reduction on MSRP. While I have been very happy about my whole experience I wish more clarity on the Munich delivery option offered at the BMW sites. It was suggested that some sensible savings when selecting that option would partly offset costs of trips to Europe but when I got a comparative quote offered the difference was not even $500 and there was no further explanation as to weather the savings would have been related to not paying some or all of the sales taxes etc.
If anyone knows more about that Munich/European delivery program please let me hear (who knows it may be still in effect when we will be back on the market to work on replacing my wife C-RV).

Negotiating a deal on a custom order 335i sedan. They are offering $750 over invoice. This seems pretty reasonable but they also implied that floormats are NOT included in the price of the 3 series. Is this true or am I getting worked?

Also: Does anyone know if MACO or training charges are typically added in Texas (just trying to get an idea of what to expect.

Thank you in advance for your time :)

    Allan,

Training would be added as part of invoice, I don't know about MACO in your area but your dealer will tell you. I am also in the market for a 335i for my wife and every e-mail with my CA specifically states that I am expecting mats to be included as part of the price I am negotiating. I was shocked in 2003 when buying a 325 that after the price was agreed on, the CA then asked if I wanted mats and then gave me the price. $750 over invoice is good, $500 is about the lowest I have seen. After you find out if MACO has to be added, you might want to counter them a counter at the same $750 over invoice + training and MACO but with mats included.

    Good luck

    Steveaccord,

The best place for information on ED is Bimmerfest.com. They have a great wiki about the entire process including how to negotiate the price (ED invoice + $xxxx). With a dealer that is knowledgeable in the process, it is quite easy from order to delivery. We are picking up a 535i this summer and the wife is deciding whether we are going to pick up a 335i for her at the same time (premium package, ipod adaptor, steptronic, metalic paint and transportation <$39200). Otherwise she will take a 328i at the dealer.

    Good luck
  • allanf714allanf714 Member Posts: 4
    car rm,
Thank you for the input. I'll request more clarification regarding what's included and post again. I can't wait to find out what they want for floormats. I do not see floormats listed as an option so I just assumed that the dealer was working me- - and that scenario certainly allows the dealer to pad the deal.

Thank you for your pointers. I did use ED MSRP and Invoices as my references indeed (it is a done deal at this point I saw the money leave my bank account today). Overall I am satisfied in the rebate I got, apparently somewhat better than the TVM published on ED on the specific model/configuration I purchased.
On an unrelated topic. Reading some of the last posts I could not help but notice the topic of the floor mats. I got those as extras (make sure to always address such things before signing the check) and is always worth having a checklist of small items that may not be come standard beforehand. Especially when paying cash I found it always effective to make requests for such items just before doling the money out (got all I wanted in past purchases at dealership usually known for being stingy such as Honda etc.). This time around I really had not much of a list because this car has it all to start with (save the mats!) and for example given the run flat tires I did not need to ask for the hydraulic type jack (I hate the mechanic ones cumbersome and lengthy deployment, and when one has to stop in the middle of travel for a flat mood is not that good to start with!).
Lastly, going back to your advise car_rm I will check the Bimmerfest.com site as I am avidly pursuing online information related to my new vehicle!
    Truly,
    :)

this is my first time dealing with bmw, and all the hidden costs and extras have me thrown. i live in ny and i am curious to know if the deal i am receiving is good, i am interested in the 328xi, prem package, cold weather, automatic, and navigation 15k per yr,. the original price i was quoted was 42,550, but since i am leasing we have been primarily discussing payments so my final numbers were 463 a month, with 5000 down and that would include: bank fee 625, registration + license 100, security 500, doc fee 45, tire recycle 12.50, and including my taxes in that money upfront, plus about 2000 towards cap reduction. my money factor number is .00195. i am supposed to go meet with him tomorrow is this a good deal? or email me madela77@aol. thank you very much...
  • nyccarguynyccarguy Member Posts: 17,535
First of all, 42550 is the MSRP of the car? Second, do not put "money down" on a lease in the form of a cap cost reduction. If your car is stolen or totalled the very next day you will LOSE that money. The same goes for your taxes. Roll them into the payment for the same reason. I see the tire recycle fee of $12.50 so you live in NY? Try getting that money back from Albany if your car is stolen or totalled.

Leasing is just like buying. You negotiate the price of the car, not the payment. Then you negotiate the money factor (which the dealer is marking up).

The MSRP on the car above is $42,550
You should negotiate the selling price of the car as $40,320 ($1000 over invoice)
The money factor is .00175 (4.2%)

I plugged the numbers into leaseguide and came up with the following payment for a 36 month/ 15K per year lease: $514.98 per month + Tax.

2001 Prelude Type SH, 2022 Highlander XLE AWD, 2025 Camry SE AWD

If you have 5k, put it into Multiple Security Deposits. MSDs are through BMWFS and they reduce your payment by up to 0.0007 MF points. This is about a 10% return on investment.

My lease for my X5 is about to expire. I called my dealer to start a new lease with the new 2008 X5. I explained to him I wanted the same options that I had with the last car, I was expecting the same or close to the same leasing price of my 2005 X5 (635.00), I was in for a shock. These are the prices he gave me. Is he trying to take advantage:

    X5 price 51,660.00
    includes premium package
    cold weather package
    rear climate package
heated rear seats, navigation and freight

    The inception fees are 2000.00
    which includes: 799.00 first payment
    375.36 Cap cost reduction
825 .64 motor veh. lease term, doc and Lux tax

in 2008 for the same car and options with the same price I paid 635.00 why is this car 799.00 ( they both include taxes). Also I bought the car from the same guy selling me this one.

am I being beat or does this sound fair.

    Thanks for any responses

Since you live in the OC- if you pay any dealer in the LA Area- 1K over invoice for a 335i and still have to add to that MACO Charges, Training Fees, etc.- You need to know how to negotiate- times are tough for all- and if you go into any BMW dealership on March 31st and can't walk out for $1K and under from dealer invoice (including all of BMW crap fees)- you better get a book on how to buy.

Here is a lease offer I was presented with. First off...I am trading in a vehicle with equity and was willing to put down a total of $5000, including sec. dep, first months paymt, doc fee, etc. Don't scold me for putting money down on a lease. I understand it isn't the best thing to do in case the car is totaled.

    2008 328xi coupe
    Prem pkg
    Cold weather
    Sports pkg
    ipod hookup
    auto
    paddle shifters
    jet black
    sticker: $43,900

I was offered a price of $41995(about $1500 over invoice). I can prob negotiate this lower...this was a first offer. 60% residual value, money factor of .00215. This is marked up from .00195, as offered by BMWFS, for dealer profit...again....a first offer. 36 month lease with 15K/year.

Using the simple lease formula of:

(Cap cost - residual)/term, plus, (cap cost + residual) x money factor, I come up with the following: assuming a $4000 cap cost reduction on my part after fees:

    $37,995($41,995 - $4000) - $26,340 (60% of $43900 sticker)/ 36 = $323.75
    $37,995 + $26,340 x .00215 = $138.32
for a total base lease price of $462.07 + tax.

The "money guy" at the dealership is quoting me $375.57 + tax. Total out of pocket costs are $5000 which will include cap cost reduction, sec deposit, doc fees. He was sketchy about any bank fees. Again, this was a first offer. I had to run to get to work but he wrote the figures down for me. Why are his figures so much lower than mine???? I'm not complaining, mind you, just want to know why the numbers are off. Am I missing something???????

Even if they gave me the car at invoice of $40,440, I put $4000 as cap cost reduction and they gave me 60% residual with a .00195 money factor, I still come up with a lease pymt of:

    $36,440 (40,440 invoice - 4000) - 26,340/36 = $280.55
    36,440+26,340 x .00195 = $122.42

Total base lease pymt of $402.97

What gives???? Are there special incentives I don't know about??????
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,754
well, could be they are screwing something up like thinking its $5k cap cost reduction. Or maybe using the wrong residual or MF. The other thing that springs to my mind is that you are paying first month up front .... so, I'm not very good at leasing numbers, but would this affect the interest calculation?

Just bought a 328i Sedan with Steptronic, Premium Package, Xenon headlights (including adaptive headlights) iPod adapter for $2000 under MSRP which was just a hair over invoice. For those looking at Costco deal, remember the dealer has a set Costco price and he cannot haggle over or down on that price. We went to dealers and got Costco pricing and then found we could do better without it, beating it by a significant amount, and getting the $185 floor mats thrown in as a bonus!

Cost was $36,450 excluding tax, docs and license.

I am looking at a 2008 335xi, msrp is 48,750 and the dealer is saying 47,700 and he will throw in the car mats and a full tank of gas. Edmunds tmv is 47,708 and invoice is 44,890. What do you think??
  • magnumforcmagnumforc Member Posts: 16
With current inventory being high and 2009 right around the corner, I'd be shooting for 46,500....

I have 06 330i.I noticed that my cars front side marker on the fenders don't stay on.they only flash when I use the turn signal.is this normal or should they stay on? sorry for posting in the wrong forum but I found this the most active.
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
Press down harder. The 06 e90 had a newer style of turn signal - a light tap will trigger 1 to 3 flashes (customizable in the On Board Computer). A hard press makes the turn signal stay on. Read the manual for your car.

    Hello All,

I have always wanted to drive a BMW and I think now I am ready to take this step.
I live in Metro Boston area and below is the deal I got after a lot of negotiations, mostly through emails. And I must thank for all the great information I got from you all.

    2008 328xi coup 6-speed
    Montego Blue
    Nav
    Ipod
    Bluetooth
Cold weather package ( since I live in Boston)

Lease for 3 years 12K miles per year

    MSRP : $42,200.00
Negotiated Price: $39,685 ( approx $800 over invoice)
    Money factor: 0.00200
    Out of Pocket: $4000.00 (total)
Acquisition Fee: $625.00 ( dealer quoted 825 and thanks to you all I knew better)
    Security Deposit: $450.00
    Disposition Fee: $350.00
    Net Cap cost:$35,685.00
    Residual %:60
    Residual Amount: $25,320
    Depreciation Fee: $287.92
    Finance Fee:$122.01
Monthly Lease Payment(sales tax not included) : $409.93
    Total monthly payment: $430.42

Also, since now one had the stick shift that i wanted with the above options they have to factory order it.
I am also planning to pay the 7 multiple security deposits which will bring down my MF to 0.00151 and finance fee per month to $92.12

What you guys think about the deal? I would like to sign the papers today so that I can start my countdown.

    Any comments will be appreciated.

    Thanks.
    PK
  • amiramir Member Posts: 115
actually i know how the turn signal works.my concern is that is the side marker on the fenders (not the head lamps) on all the time or just on for turn signal.
  • redsoxxredsoxx Member Posts: 2
You state that money out of pocket is $4000 total. However, the depreciation fee and finance fee you were quoted is based upon $4000 off of your cap cost. $39,685 - $4000 = $35,685. Subtract the res. value (25,320) for $10365. Divided by 36 months is $287.91. $35,685 + $25,320(residual) x money factor .00200 is $122. When you go to pick up the car, they have you believing that you will only need a check for $4000. But the figures you were quoted were based on the whole $4000 going to reduce the cap cost. You will then have to come up with your first months pymt, aquisition fee, security deposit, doc fees, etc.. in addition to that $4000. Also, residuals for the 328xi coupe are 60% on a 15K/year lease. I believe the residuals for 12K/year are 61%. Let me know how you make out.

Ive narrowed down my search to 2 and will be test driving both the 335xi and G35xS this weekend and making my decision..

Price difference aside (Which is about 10K). Has anyone had a chance to drive both and can you give some quick comparo's between the two?

Also.....would dealers consider swapping out the runflats on the Bimmer for regular all-seasons during the bargaining process? (I live in Wisconsin). - Thanks!
  • car_rmcar_rm Member Posts: 47
I ahve not driven the AWD versions of the two cars but have driven both. My first impression of the Infinity was that the interior had a "cheap" plastic look to it. Although the car drove well, it was signigicantly louder then the BMW. In the end, like the way the 335 drove better - felt more connected to the road.

    > I love the cover plate that is part of the BMW/Garmin kit; it hides the charger-mount so neatly.<

I must have the worst karma -- in the process of installing the Garmin/BMW hardwire kit, the "professional installer" managed to lose the mount cover plate (which was a major factor for me buying the kit in the first place). Anyone out there willing to part with their "mount cover?" It would be greatly appreciated (even monetarily).

Thanks in advance to anyone who can come to my rescue.

Got the recent spin from a dealer that I spoke to

    msrp $48820
offers they will not entertain: anything under 47K.. They said manual is a premium and they want msrp because it's in high demand. Or so they say... :-)

Has 6-speed manual, premium, sport, nav, ipod, comfort access, and sat radio. With destination, I computed the invoice to be 44125.

I guess time to keep looking...

    Move to another dealer.
  • pdude1pdude1 Member Posts: 47
I think you're right. No one has a manual coupe in the color I want in the area.

they came down to alittle under 47K so 2K under msrp and 2700 over invoice! They said everyone wants this one. That and it's end of the month. I guess supply and demand. Might have to order since no one else in the area has one or go get an automatic steptronics.
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
They're lying as that car is wasting away on the lot. Remind them it's March 31 and they can either move it for $700 over invoice (if you really want it, maybe accept 1k over) tonight or it can sit on the lot all next month.

You're in control. They can be pigheadish but they're only hurting themselves.

Getting ready to deal on a 328i in NC with the following options:
    Steptronic
    Prem
    Nav
    Xenon
    iPod Adapter
    Heated seats

Per Edmunds and KBB invoice should be $38,215

Given it's early April what should I expect, $500-1000 over this invoice price?
  • magnumforcmagnumforc Member Posts: 16
If you belong to Costco, you should be able to do $500 over invoice with no problem. If not, haggle some. We did better with local dealer after checking Costco deal and rejecting it. As you know, dealers aren't that soft when dealing in foreign cars; even end of model years sales they offer discounts that are slim compared to domestic models.

What city/metropolitan area are you looking in? I am driving a 2208 335xi I leased with a negotiated price of $ 500 over invoice, 3yrs, 10k miles/yr. I placed the order in late December, took delivery 2/18, made one security deposit to lock in .0020 money factor.

In NY/CT, relatively new to leasing so still reading up on things like reducing the MF with MSDs, etc.

Curious what lease deals you guys have got recently on 328i Convertibles and how to decide/evaluate 'how good' the deal is.

I know the Boston papers have the following:

    * 328i Convertible: $368/month with $3,800 down
    * 528Xi: $378/month with $3,800 down

Though the ad said "nicely equipped" I called to find out they are base models with stick shift (stick is fine, btw). They also said the various fees would run to around $1,100-$1,500

*All leases 24 months, 10,000 miles per year with $3,800 down as cap cost reduction, plus all start up fees and taxes including 1st payment, security deposit, bank fee, documentation and registration fees. Some in stock vehicles may contain additional equipment at additional cost. Quantities are limited. Geographic restrictions apply. Pictures are for illustration purposes only. Prices subject to change in accordance with BMW factory programs. See dealer for details.

Anyone gotten a better deal via placing an order as opposed to negiotiating for one on the lot? I would assume the dealer expense is lower for an order as they would carry little to no loan expense.

Just wanted to thank many on this board. I have not posted often but I had been reviewing and researching the 335i Sedan for a while. I ended up getting what think is a pretty good deal.

    2007 335i Sedan Sparking Graphite/Gray Leather
    Sport/Prem/Ipod/Sat

Yes, I found a leftover 07 at Fields Daytona (Salesman was great). They sold it for $41,500. It had 250 miles on it. So it had been driven around. But Iooked it over and it looked quite pristine. I realize I took some risk with people beating on it during the breakin.
MSRP on this was roughtly $46,7000 and Invoice I believe was about $44,000.

I am very happy with the car. I actually had put a down payment on a fullly loaded Graphite g35 (I just sold my 2003 G35). I ended up getting the deposit back and going with the bimmer. I have no regrets.

Congratulations and best of luck! What was it that made you switch from the G to your new car?
