They try to trick you with that ad fee. My parents just bought a 2000 blazer back in september and i recently asked if they paid the ad fee and they were like we paid something extra $200 but it wasnt an ad fee they called it something else. Dealers are sneaky gotta be on top of things. I have to talk to the guy i am gonna order from and ask him about this fee i havent asked him about it i asked about the DOC. fee and he said they dont have one. Anyone out there not have to pay like a $50 doc fee??? it seems wierd cause i thought everyone who buys a car has to pay a doc fee. This is exactly why i started in august researching and talking to people about ordering a truck so i dont get screwed and as of now i feel like i wont be because me and the salesman are pretty good friends and we talk all the time not just about trucks and also i am traveling pretty far (3 hrs away) to buy from him and he appreciates this.
DM just ignore the people who keep saying its old and u should have to deal with it and all this junk its not right it wasnt stated in the beginning so you should have never had to pay for it. I dont know maybe people just dont understand and it would have to happen to them. Good lcuk with getting your new truck as soon as possible.

I have been reading the postings for about a week now. Lots of good info.

I have ordered a 2000 LS EXT CAB Z71, Lt Pewter. Got it for $99 over invoice. Plus the stupid advertising fee. First new truck. Like Ryan, I have been researching and deciding on what I want since about August. I finally ordered it last week. I went to several dealers checking prices. One dealer had a different (higher) price in his GM software than the others. Not sure if he was trying to scam me or what. Didn't matter, the rest of his deal was stupid anyways. Went through the "you don't look like you can afford a new truck" salesman too (I had on a t-shirt and jeans). Thats Maryland for ya. Finally found a good salesman to work with. I was told 8 to 12 weeks on my truck. Does that sound right? Where are you guys getting the information on when the four doors are going into production? How do I track my order number with GM?

I have been deciding on some items to dress it up a bit. What do you guys think about spray in liners versus drop in? Spray ins are ok if you don't mind it being permanent, but then the drop in liners vibrate and scuff the paint. How about lids for the bed? Some earlier postings refer to the A.R.E lids, but what about "The Edge" from Leer? I like the low profile look. Since lids are expensive and it may be a few months before I get one, I was gonna put on some black rail caps to match the tailgate protector. Think they will seal ok with a lid? They probably just stick on, so I guess they will come off fairly easy. Any thoughts on a bug deflector (brand-wise)?

Has anybody used the Hypertech Powerprogrammer on their '99 or '00? The TRUCKS show on TNN used it on a '99 and got about 20 more hp and 20 ftlbs. It also changes the shift points in the tranny. The programmer is about $350, so I am not sure it is worth it. I live in Maryland and there are a lot of speed shops around that may do it for me. I just would'nt want to mess anything up. Wonder if it voids the warranty?

WOw man slow down haha. First off congrat on ordering your truck may i ask how old u r? I am 20 and i get that your to young look alot. Thats ok cause when i go buy mine i am first going to my uncle (hes a salesman) and shaking a check for $30000 in his face and walking out cause he doubts me.
WHat did u order like options and stuff LT or LS???
For the drop in vs spray in i am getting the spray in courtesy of the dealership from rhino because it snows here and its gonna sit outside and i figure itll protect it from rusting i know the drop in wont. The only other thing i can comment on is the bug deflector dont get the GTS with the velcro thingies u put on the hood it sucks my dad got it for his new 2000 blazer within a month its off gotta look for a new one wasted $60. U think about any other accesories???
As for the 8-12 weeks thats kinda bull itll probably be 14-16 wks and probably longer. I already am preparing myself and i am just gonna hope when i order mine that i get it by next xmas. Good Luck ROB keep us updated Oh yea when i go order mine ill wear my chevy silverado t shirt

    Ryan,
I am 31. I don't think I look too young. I think it was because I was not dressed like a lawyer or doctor (you know suit and tie or maybe Italian shoes). Lots of professional people (with money) around here. I am a Warrant Officer in the Army (11 years) stationed at Ft Meade, MD. I am just now to the point that I can afford the nice family vehicle and something new for me. I worked my way through the enlisted ranks and then was lucky enough to be selected for warrant. This is sorta my prize.
I ordered an LS with pretty much everything except the leather and electrochromicnomicdimitself rv mirror. Not fond of leather and the mirror seems more like a gadget to me (I can tell if its hot or cold outside all by myself! Ha!). Locking diff, 5.3, Z71, electric buckets, autotrac.
The spray in liners are just so permanent. Not sure if I want to commit myself. As far as accessories go, I think less looks better. Bug deflector, Chevy mudflaps, a lid, and dual exhaust with some nice sized chrome tips is all I want.
Spoke to my salesman today, Now were at 12 weeks firm. I guess next week it will jump to 14.
    Gotta go.

Got a call from the GM dealer today telling us he made a mistake in the price (gee, why wasn't I surprised), and forgot to add in something that Chevy includes and GM doesn't...so the price was more. No point in bringing back their contract. We thought we would try one more Chevy dealer, Denooyer, on Wolf Rd in Albany. We showed him what we wanted, he gave us a price..we said it was higher than another dealer (which it was, but we really didn't want to buy from that other dealer..too small, would take forever to get a truck)..he said how about invoice (which for a change already had the ad charges), we said yes, he did the contract while we waited, had the manager sign it, took our deposit (only $500 at this dealer), and went off to check their allocation. Said (I'm trying real hard not to by cynical) Chevy is closed for 2 weeks, then order will go in, and should be ready for pickup in 10 weeks from today (barring any problems with the actual shipping, which this area is experiencing). So we are back to Chevy, happy with the price. Happy to be getting the Chevy instead of the GM. Also found out that Chevy has just taken over the dealership in Clifton Park (where we had all our original problems), and the owner is now just the acting manager. Wonder if that had something to do with the problems we had with them.
Interested in what liners most people have opted for..not interested in the spray ones. Also we will be ordering a cap..any suggestions, and reasons why a certian one is better?

i'm a 1lt stationed at fort jackson. i've got a similar order placed...'00 4 door, ls, z71, many options...with a guy in louisville. he originally quoted me 16-19 weeks, now it looks like it's only going to be 10 all told (tpw = 10 jan). if you're dealer keeps jacking up the delivery time on you, gimme a holler, i'll set you up with my guy. he'll deliver anywhere in the continental usa to include picking up your trade for only $500 over invoice.

Wouldn't be through Greg Stancill would it? I have had an order for a 2500 thru him since 11/19
but so far nothing. I have deposited $1,000 with him, and after they got the deposit he refuses to contact me. I did ask him if he was a car sales-
man or an honest car salesman. Must have hit a nerve for some reason. Still can't seem to get a response from him. Almost ready to cancel the whole transaction. Good luck to you anyway...

It seems like alot of people are getting some really good deals. The thing that amazes me is that alot of you are paying advertising fees. The last three new vehicles I bought I refused to pay the advertising fees and still paid what I wanted. Last year when I bought my 98 chevy ext-cab Z-71 they tried to make me pay the advertising fee. I told the salesman I never pay them and I wasn't about to now. I then told him he should actually pay me for advertising because every vehicle on his lot has a badge with the dealership name on it and I would be advertising for him everytime I drove it. Needless to say I didn't pay it. Truck stickered for 29,479 and with my $1000.00 customer loyalty rebate and $129.00 GM card rebate I paid $25,129. While it is true that most dealers wont dip into their holdback money you can use it to negotiate if they start the song and dance about not making any money on your proposed deal. I got the impression that some of you are getting your over invoice figures from the invoice sheet the dealer shows you on the truck you are looking at. Many times the invoice sheet the dealer shows you is higher than what it should be because they change some figures and if you haven't figured the invoice price before you even talk to the salesman you may not know if his is right or not. They tried to pull that one on me on the first truck I bought but I ended up paying what I previously had figured I wanted to pay. Knowledge is your best friend when buying a new vehicle.

Now I wonder who this might be ?
The dealer on Wolf Road I've been by before, I had a friend who lived on Second Ave across from the stadium there.
I wonder what it was that Chevy included but GM did'nt? Does'nt matter now obviuosly.
You can see that there is justice out there & it shows itself in mysterious ways. That dealership got what was coming to it, they obviuosly were not what Chevy want's to see representing them.
Sounds like you got a good deal too!
As for the bed liners, don't like em never did just give me a good old rubber bed mat to stop stuff from sliding & scratching. Spray in liners are definetaly out because as you said they are permanent, the drop ins are to slippery & whats the purpose of trying to preserve the bed?, it is a pick-up truck after all & the bed does not resell the truck for you. The mat will preserve the paint for the most part & never had any problems with rust in the bed because of the cap keeping the weather out.
As far as a cap I would go with a Leer Series 122, they have the highest clearance going, they look sharp & it is uniform from front to back, unlike some of the wedge styles that are out there that make your truck look like a piece of cheese going down the road ! Leer dealer in Conneticut is one of largest in my area and quoted in writing w/rear slider window inc. $1015 color matched & installed.

Way to go they definitly should pay the customer for advertising with all the stickers and crap they put on the new cars these days. I will never ever have the sticker or the license plate thingy of the place i got it from takes away from the truck in my mind. On the ad fees talked to the guy im gonna buy from he told me the only fees he has is what the truck costs and tax nothing else that sounds great hopefully its the truth. Ill get it in writing most definitly.

Rob: I think people look at me a little crazier i am only 20. They are like yea right. The guy my parents bought their blazer from wont return any of my emails or calls he doesnt think im serious about buying. Im fed up with it. Oh well they are out a cool 30 grand no biggie.

    Roger,
You gave him $1000 down, did you get an order # ?
If you did you can track it yourself thru cust. assist.
I was approached by him for a sale but got better deal locally otherwise might have considered using him.

Greg Stancill, your reputations on a downhill slide here, customer relations is KEY in selling are you listening ?????

No I did not get an order #..The way that works is they won't order until the deposit is made. And then the order #, that is if they had an allocation as was stated by Greg. But since I have not received an order #, or anything else, I really can't believe that the allocation for a 2500 Silverado was available. Thanks for the input anyway....

greg stancill and i would back him up to anyone. i mailed my $1000 deposit the day i ordered on the phone with him. five days later, i received a copy of the order he sent to gm, with the order number on it. i called gm and it's a valid order number...i've been tracking progress and now have a tpw (target production week) of 10 jan. nothing but satisfaction with greg. difference is most likely the fact that i ordered a 1500 and you ordered 2500. i was never interested in the 2500, but from what i've heard, you're going to have trouble getting one of those. also, greg has called me twice to give me updates on my order status. matter of fact, the day i got my tpw, i was going to call him after my lunch break to see if he was on the ball. he called me late morning to give me the news. can't beat that...anyone want info on my deal or how well greg stancill and montgomery chevy have treated me, email me at kwerking@aol.com. i'll even bet that, provided gm doesn't postpone 4 door production after the new year, i'll be in the top ten of people on this bulletin board to have a 4 door silverado...

Kyle: When did you place your order? You only waited five days for the order number? I ordered mine about two weeks ago and no order number yet. I expect the wait to get longer as Chevrolet gets more and more orders.

I did pay (or will) the stupid advertising fee. It may have been different if the truck was on the lot. I just wanted my truck ordered and from what I've seen here I did ok ($28184 for pretty much everything but leather and the self dimming mirror+the 1% ad fee). There is a buying service called UBS available to gov't employees (not sure about others) that gets vehicle for $100 over invoice. The dealer siad he would honor that and thats the deal I took.
  • rshornsbyrshornsby Member Posts: 200
True I did order a 2500, but was told that I had an allocation for this truck. Also, even if it wasn't available, don't you think it is only out of curtest to a customer, to say I'm sorry, it is not available yet, but I will keep trying? But since my $1,000 got there, I haven't gotten any contact at all. Why not, do you have a possible suggestion as to why Greg would do that? I'm certain that I don't. I still believe in him, at this point, but I don't know if I can keep that idea if I can't hear from him about the order. I was told that he could order with a credit card # so I provided that. Then shortly I received word that the sales manager wanted either cash, or a cashier's check for the deposit. Can't stop payment on either one of those, makes one wonder doesn't it! I would like to hear from him soon. Just to know that he is alive, and that my $1,000 isn't misplaced.

My story is not much different from others. I've been waiting since middle of July for a 2500 Silverado, ext cab, 4wd, LS, long bed. Never have received build date so I got my $500 deposit back. I was told that I would likely have to wait until May for delivery if it happened by then. Problem supposively is 2 fold. 1) Long Bed and 2) shortage of manifolds for 6.0 engine.
OK, now I have thought about getting a 1500 with 4.10 rear axle. The local dealers do not have but say they can get one for me within the state(NC)but it will cost $1000 over invoice plus some options that I do not want. I am about ready to call this guy Greg in Kentucky and order one if he is legit. Anyone got a good 1-800 for Greg? I am almost to the point of ditching Chevy and going Dodge Diesel($49 over invoice) but somehow can't seem to trust Dodge and also throw away my $1600 GM Card points that I've been collecting for 4 years.
  • rshornsbyrshornsby Member Posts: 200
did in fact call me, and I appreciated the call. Sort of cleared things up for the time being. And likewise..Greg and all you other people on this site...have a HAPPY NEW YEAR, and luck with your orders.

I actually need help determining the right Invoice prices for new 2000 silverados. I have been to many dealers in the bay area (CA) and I have seen 4 different invoices for the exact same truck and they were all different. what startled me the most was when I went back to Billings Chevrolet, I asked to see the invoice of the same truck and it was differnt than the original, actually more. I have tried many online guides and I still cant find a dealer that comes close to the invoice price posted on the web. Can anybody help? I want to make sure that I am getting a good deal and because I appear to look younger than I am, it seems that dealers want to take advantage of me. Any suggestions on a great salesperson / dealer to work with? I am willing to travel a little for the best price. I am actually getting a little frustrated with this number game.

    Thanks,
    Mike
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
Think the number game is bad dont order then cause u will be more than frustrated. How does he have different invoices for the same truck? The only way it can change is if they add stuff to it like a bedliner alarm etc. I wouldnt worry about invoice price just get a price from online and work from there make a copy print the paper out from http://www.kellybluebook.com and take it to the dealership for you it shows invoice and msrp. That will show the guy you are doing your homework. Be prepared to pay over invoice u wont get a truck under or at invoice. UNLESS UNLESS you can get the gm employee or supplier deal luckily for me i can get the supplier deal and its like a few hundered below invoice. Good luck to u seriously take in the prices from the websites itll help alot.

Ryan I know I am not going crazy as my wife wrote down the VIN number for Insurance and sure enough it was the same. I think they were trying to get over or something. but I heard bad things about Billings doing that anyway. Thanks for the tip on looking at kelly bluebook... it will help.

I know about the age thing. They think they can trick you and everything. I went to a dealership monday just to look cause im not ordering in about 2 months. Everytime i tell emwhen im ordering the turn and walk away or say something smart. Dont let it bother you. This past august i emailed a dealer about a quote for the heck of it i didnt even know where the place was to tell you the truth the guy responded fast. We talk all the time not just about trucks hes answered all my questions been truthful and i like that he is very patient. I found out that his dealership is about2 and a half hours away from me and i am going to travel and get my truck from him because i appreciate his honesty and good service. Try going online and searching http://www.gmbuypower.com you can search for the vehicle you want and many dealerships all over the world you can also look at the sticker price and email them from there. I would have to sy its a good way to search too. Easier than going and driving and dealing with the salesmen in person. Good Luck hope ya find your truck soon

KBB is o.k. if you don't mind adding it up yourself. If you want your computer to do the figuring, and give you a very good print out, go to www.webcarbook.com. The outcome is the same, but no mistakes using a calculator. Greg Stancill quoted a price for a 2000 Silverado 2500 4x4, and it was exactly the same price, that was on the internet. If ordering I would definitely recommend his service:
    postmaster@bigm.win.net..
He gets $300 over invoice and can deliver any-where in U.S.

Good luck getting what you want.

<<I actually need help determining the right Invoice prices for new 2000 silverados.>>

Some of the chevy dealers do have their own programs, but out of the 7 invoices we got from diff dealers, the only think different on them was the advertising costs (both dealers and Chevey's). Of course the price of the Silverado went up in the Fall,so our first invoice and our last are $250 off, but Edmunds showed the increase. All of our invoices matched Edmunds.

PS: Chevy accepted our new truck order the first time thru, this Friday, with DeNooyer Chevy in Albany, NY..far cry better than the months we wanted from the original small dealer in Clifton Park, who told us they would get it fast.

Does anyone know about the $500 coupon GM is offering for current customers and customers who are interested in purchasing a GM vehicle prior to Feb 29? I read this in the Dallas Morning News Business Section last week. I called a salesman in Texarkana and he told me it was only for current customers. But, that's not what I read. I need some clarification.
  • dsmazzdsmazz Member Posts: 5
I just purchased a new GMC Sierra last week. At that time, no coupon was offered through GM, and as far as I know, there is not one now. I did receive a $500 "Customer" Coupon through the dealership. However, this was NOT a GM sponsored coupon, and it was only for existing customers of that specific dealership.

Last spring, I did purchase a '99 Grand Prix GTP for my wife and there was a $500 GM Customer Loyalty Coupon that was in effect at that time.

I'd contact another dealer in your area and see what their response is.

6:30 AM EST today, CNN News interview w/GM President & C.O.O Roger Wagoner stated in interview that GM is offering $500 customer loyalty coupons to get purchases going for new year. If I here more on this (as far as how to get it) I'll let all know on this forum.

If your ordering u better buy a very good lazy boy and a nice big screen tv cause you will be in for a long wait. The should be arriving on lots this month so start looking if u want to take one off the lot.

topic 1237 for four door info.
Go back to Edmunds home page for financing info., lease deals are always available, the dealers make tons of money off you then & they prefer leasing rather then selling just for that reason.

Offering coupons to get sales going sounds slightly asinine doesn't it? Everyone waiting for the 2500 to come out, and GM can't seem to understand that. They keep saying Nov. sales slumped, and they were not selling many rigs now. And then in the next breath saying, 2500's are constrained!!!!!Makes one wonder just which hip pocket their brains are in..

    Roger
  • werkingwerking Member Posts: 431
...because everyone who knows anything about these trucks knew the four doors were coming out early this year. gm screwed themselves by holding out on the four doors. i know this thread has been beat to death before, but all you three door owners know that, had gm offered a four door right off the bat (and no three door), you wouldn't have been running over to dodge or ford. as for the 2500's, i don't know what to say about those. perhaps gm got burned on those in the past by making too many and just over-adjusted. i think everything can be covered by saying the only job gm's done really well lately is advertise. actually getting a quality product to market to compete with their opposition has been a whole different ball game. wow...got kind of long-winded there...call it my $0.05. i'm just still waiting...my truck's getting built this week...

  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
Kyle about the over production in the past of the 2500's i think that is a main reason. I see all kind of old 2500's sitting on lots seemed like no one but people who needed work trucks bought em and now the general population wants em.

    Ryan
  • rshornsbyrshornsby Member Posts: 200
Out here (Idaho) there does not seem to be a lot of 2500's on the lot. In fact I have only seen very few. It must be the section of the country that you live in. The dealers out here do have gobs of 1500's, all shades and options. I can order, from a local dealer, and have an allocation fairly quickly, for 1500's no 2500's. Local dealer told me a short time back, his Tuesday allocation came in, 5 1500's 0-2500's. He had about 24 1500's on the lot. Doesn't make any sense does it. I'm still waiting.

"CAFE" regulations have something to do with how many 2500's GM is willing to build? CAFE is Corporate average fuel economy - The more gas hogs GM sells the lower this number is. All auto companies must hit some average based on what their average has been in the past - or some BS like that. If they do not hit it they must pay a fine to Uncle Sam - kind of like an extra tax. This is just a guess - I am not sure 3/4 ton trucks (or any trucks for that matter) are included.
  • rshornsbyrshornsby Member Posts: 200
absolutely right. I have heard that before, they have to stay below the magic number or get cut. It just seems that I heard 20 mpg average. I don't know for certain. And I think that all rigs that are produced count toward that magic number. A hugh over abundance of 1500's don't ease the 2500 production numbers at all.
  • afs11afs11 Member Posts: 86
I agree with Kyle. Dodge was smart to come out with the four door extented cab model. No three door, it didn't take Ford too long either jump on the band wagon.

I remember seeing this video from GM. Cal Ripken was the spokesman. It was all about the new, better then ever Chevy Silverado! When I saw the first extented cab pickups, I couldn't beleive that GM was so stupid not to come out with the four door models right away!

This video was all about the improvements over the last pickups. They also mentioned the large amount of money & time spent on research. You think someone at GM would have had the brains to check out the competition! Both Dodge & Ford models have a couple of years under their belt. The 1999 Silverado was a brand new model, which I think could have been changed from a three door to a four door model with little delay!

I understand that their is a GM customer loyalty
rebate worth $500 off the price of the vehicle. My
in-laws did not receive one in the mail. They
bought a GM last year. I understand that if they
get the certificate, they can pass it on to me to
use on my new Silverado due in next week. How do
you get a hold of one of these certificates? They
    are good through 2/29/00.

    Thanks

Haven't seen anything in any literature or posted that indicates this coupon deal from GM. If I do I'll post for all and likewise I hope from others.

Back to my post #492 my order was placed 12/17/99 with the new dealer.
