Checkout CarMax in Washington DC. They're listing a 04 SE AWD, msrp of $35,540 for $32,598, or about $100 over invoice. Its polished Pewter, with Charcoal Interior.
They also have a couple of SL's at the Greenville SC store.
Maybe you can print out the details from carMax and use it for leverage with your local dealers?
Hi, everyone. Please can anybody tell me how can I verify that my Murano has installed the VDC Option ??. I will Buy a 2004 Murano next week. It's SL AWD Full version with all options included (No NAV obviously), but I am not sure if the VDC is included. The dealer says VDC is included, but I Think he doesn't have any idea about that. He confuses :AWD, ABS,BA,and EBD with VDC. I know VDC includes : Stability Control, Traction Control, and tire pressure monitor. Thanks for your help.
After doing quite a bit of research I decided on a Murano. I have just been quoted $27,988 on a SL AWD Murano with leather, cold pkg, sunroof, BOSE stero, dynamic control pkg with 10,400 miles. Dealer says it's very very clean. Does this sound like a good price? I was thinking of countering with $25,000 as a final offer. For those of you who have done the negotiations, please feel free to weigh in with advice. Thanks.
Call the dealership and ask to speak to someone in the finance department. They will fax you a cancellation form. Fill it out and fax it back. For me, it took about 30+ days to get the refund check.
dklanecky........Thanks for the tip on the DC Car Max. I saw the SE list also & contacted them yesterday. The only short coming was it did not have the dynamic control option I wanted with it. The price was right however.
praxis99......You can tell if you have the dynamic control option included if option T01 is on the invoice. Hope this helps......adnips
Adnis, Thank you for your answer. I did not see the invoice, but I suppose, the items codes in the invoice here in South America are different from USA. In the specification list from the dealer does not appear, but the dealer argues that all SL AWD Murano full version for South America have the VDC included. My question is how to know (phisically, visually, light o sound) that shows the VDC, TCS and TPMS are installed and working in the Murano.
On the lower, left portion of the dash, driver's side, next to the headlight height adjustment switch, is a switch to turn off the VDC if the vehicle is equipped with the option.
If it doesn't have the VDC on/off switch, it doesn't have the option installed. You'll see the space when you actually look at the vehicle's lower dash and it will be obvious if it has the option or not.
hi, i'm looking at getting into a murano...debating on 2003 and 2004. has anyone else heard or read anywhere that production is shifting from japan to the usa?
hai, your invoice was $31907 and "out the door price incl temp tags" was $32195. how about state taxes, title etc. it looks too good to be true. can you enlighten me/us
jaylin, Picked up our car on Saturday and after quick 180 miles we cannot be happier with our decision. $32,195 was a full out the door price including doc fees and temp plates and "tire tax" which is the NY state only... . The price did not include state tax. We will register the car in NJ and pay lower tax than NY. I'm sure our local DMV office will have all kinds of fees and charges, but this is unavoidable. After reading some horror stories on this page we were delighted with the most professional purchase and delivery experience provided by Newburgh Nissan.
Um, you cannot "load up" an S trim much at all. No way to add leather, navigation, moonroof, power liftgate, etc, etc, etc. The S has only one option package, and all it adds are roof rails, rear cargo cover, privacy glass, and the "security system".
Not to say an S isn't a great vehicle, it is, but "loaded" to me means features like the dual moonroof, power liftgate (one of my wife's favorite features!), leather, navigation, etc. You can get all those on the SL, but never on an S.
A good way to compare the trim levels and the options you can add is on the specifications page for the Murano at
Thanks dklanecky, The only switch I can see on the left side in the dash is : TRIP A/B RESET, the most left to the 3 POD indicators, and below from : - speedometer icon + switch. That's the only switch in that side. Is this the place that are you talking about ??. If answer is YES, I suppose the VDC is not installed. However I can see the VDC icon-light inside of the RPM indicator (first POD left side). Any thoughts about that ??.
Just picked up a 2004 SL fully loaded with nav for invoice, plus got a good deal on my trade-in and 4.7% financing at Continental Nissan near La Grange. Email me at shindig@lycos.com for my dealer's name and other info, and he should be able to get you the same deal. Customer service was top notch, plus free car washes for the lifetime of the vehicle.
The Murano is an incredible ride. Definitely can't wait until the break-in period is done.
I just went out to the garage and MEASURED this for you. EXACTLY 6" straight down from the Trip A/B Reset button and 3" to the left are TWO buttons, in my Murano at least. The one to the left (outer) is to adjust the xenon headlights and the one to its right is the VDC button.
my understanding is that the tires have a metalic air intake nozle and metalic cap instead of the usual black nozle and black cap, in the muranos with vdc. also check the sticker info, it should list the options and it can't lie
Thanks dweiser and jaylin. My conclusion is the VDC is not installed in my next Murano (or different implementation maybe). The only switch I found is to adjust the xenon headlights and there is no other switch next to it. The dealer insists the vehicle has VDC (as long as you can see de VDC icon in the gauges, and he is going to give me a factory certification about the VDC en my Murano, directly from Japan. Anyways, I think Murano is great and I will buy it. Any thoughts about what I exactly miss without VDC about stability and traction control ??.
does touring package incl bose 7 speaker audio with 6 cd changer. it seems to be part of premium package but not clear if it is part of touring package.
Yes, you do get the Bose upgrade with the touring packages.
The SL Touring Package includes the Leather Package, which includes the Sunroof Package, which includes the Premium Package, which, as you note, includes the Bose upgrade.
The SE Touring Package includes the Sunroof Package, which includes the Premium Package, which includes the Bose upgrade.
Hello all, I am new to the chat room and I need some advice. I have been offered a drive out price of 30,995 (including TTL) on a 2003 Nissan Murano with the Premium Package, Heated Seats, Leather and Sunroof. The Murano is used and has 8400 miles. Is this a good deal? I have no way of telling since Edmunds does not allow you to select a 2003 used vehicle. I have until noon Saturday to make a decision. Help Please?
dageo.....I'm not certain what the invoice cost of a 2003 SL with the options you stated, but you should be able to pull that off of the Edmunds site. CarMax is offering 2003 Muranos with NO MILEAGE for $300-400 BELOW invoice.
Off the top, the $31,000 does not sound like a great deal. A couple of dealers have hinted they would go to invoice to sell an 04 when the right vehicle comes in. I'm sure they will start adding in the junk fees over that amount.
AT this point you are buying a used car, with no way to compare it, except to the value of a new one, 03 or 04. Personally, I think you can do better...............adnips
Dageo, do not go for a used Murano, since you can get a brand new 2003 with all bells and whistles for the same price. I have been offered the same car at the invoice price. Please check everything before signing-up for a used Murano.
We just got SL AWD w/Touring, Floor Mats, Cargo Protector, and Mud Guards (MSRP 34,960.00) for 32,307 + tags, reg fees and taxes at 34,454 out of the door. I used fax blast with little response (5 out of 18 or so). prices were between 32,307 and 32,700. The dealer at Somerset offered 32,307. I requested buyer's order, and got late same day. Called next morning (11/1) and was told that car is gone (go figure!). Took their buyer's order to DCH Freehold and show it to them (DCH reply on fax was 32,700). They matched it (32,307), not without trying to get another $100 first. Insurance with AIG, no points, used for pleasure only with 100K/300K and 100/comp and 500/coll is 450/6 months.
trblmkr......Congrats, sounds like you got a pretty good deal on an 04! Did the dealer charge any funny ADV/Doc fees? Seems like we have alot of that going on here in Atlanta.......Did you drive the SE before selecting the SL? Was their much difference in the ride?.....Enjoy....Adnips
adnips... I just moved from ATL to Austin. Bought my 2000 Maxima from Peachtree Nissan. The sell guy, his name is David something, quoted me a bottom price and did not added anything. So there is one place in ATL where they don't play around with the fee stuff, well atleast for my experience. Also we just bought a 2003 Murano; we are Nissan customer, can you tell? . We drove the SE and then the SL. The SE is too firm for our taste. We have kids and will travel to beach and stuff and the SL will be much easier on the long haul. Loving the SL, did not get the AWD, Austin is too hot to have any ice or snow. We got $28400 final price, everything including TTL and fees for the 2003 SL, basic just floormat and cargo protection. Good luck.
Just bought a 2004 AWD with Touring Pkg, Dynamic Control Pkg, Nav, mats, cargo protector, sunroof guard and mud guards. Paid $36,594 out of the door in northern Va. Probably could have gone a little lower but my company has deal w/dealer so I got some decent freebies. They really wanted to sell me a 2003 which I seriously considered for $300 over invoice. Tempted but opted for the newer car. My other car is a Jeep Grande Cherokee and boy can you tell the difference! Nice ride!
Hi Group - I'm in Charlotte and about to put $ $ down on Mo '03 SL AWD w/ navigation, prem pkg, leather, sunroof, Dynamic Control, Cold pkg, 26 miles (dealer selling as "demo" since used in local autoshow) MSRP $37,660 dealer selling for $32,800 (ttt $34,100 out the door) Absolutely love the car (as does my 4'11" wife - adjustable pedals swayed her) - but want to make sure my infatuation isn't setting me up to get fleeced when I head to dealer tomorrow. Thanks so much for your input/opinion.
Thanks superDavid - I'm ok with 2003 (no significant changes in 04 from what I read) Feel better going in with at least one other opinion. I was hoping for more discount since it was 2003. But no '04s in area with color / features /awd choice I wanted. Appreciate your input!
In answer to your question and I hope I'm not too late in my reply, please email me at Breslend@aol.com and I can tell you everything about the Murano I bought. I have never used this site before the purchase of the Murano and forgot to keep checking it to see if I had any questions. Someone over the summer emailed me about my experience with the shield I had installed on the nose, so far so good! Today it is having an automatic starter (for the winter months) I hope that all goes well. So again my apologies for not responding until now, hope I'm not too late. Regards, Sharon
Just picked up my new 2004 SL AWD Murano with the touring package, mats, and mud flaps. Cost was $192 over invoice price plus a $100 paperwork fee. I purchased it at Nissan North in Columbus, OH. They were very nice and I had no hassels at all. I made an inquiry at Nissan USA to request a price and did get one from 4 dealerships. Not may '04s in this area yet. Nissan North gave me a price via email, got the car I wanted from another dealership, and I picked it up a few days later. So far I really like it. I have had a number of Nissans with almost 0 problems so I was ready to try another one.
Since I'm too lazy to look up invoice, can you give out the actual price paid with those options? What is the "touring" package?? Leather and heated seats???
I got my first Nissan vehicle which is a '03 Murano about three weeks ago. Bought with Premium Pkg., Leather Pkg., Sunroof, Splash Guards, Carpeted Floor Mats, Cargo Protector. MRSP was $34,383, Invoice was $31,422, Paid $31,255 plus $299 Filing and Documentation Fees. What puzzles me most is that I also got the Cold Pkg. (heated seats and outside mirrors) which lists MRSP for $499. Called Nissan and asked how this could be. They told me it was included in one of the packages. I have read and reread the Accessory Pkg descriptions, the Window Sticker and no where do I find heated seats and outside mirrors to be included unless you pay $499 for the Cold Pkg. Has anyone else had this experience or know of a reason? My color is Deep Bordeaux. I have checked the internet inventory for about 30 dealers around the country and have only found two on the lots. Is this not a popular color or doesn't Nissan push it?
In the early build of muranos the cold package was included in the leather package. They then seperated them and charged an extra 499 for it. This change happened early this year if you scroll back search this topic you will see this mentioned. What is your build date. As I reclooect it would have to be pretty early to have the "free" cold pack.
My '03 Murano has a build date of November '02 and received in North Carolina January '03. I bought the last week of October '03. It was new, not a demo as it only had 80 miles. Seems like this car sure set on the dealers lot for a long time. Would there be any difference in an early build date versus a later one except for squeezing out another $499 for the Cold Pkg. Everything seems to be ok otherwise.
Wow that is an early build. That car was on the lot 10 months that is a very long time. Other than the free cold pack some early owners had rattle problems and some complained about poor CVT performance. Check out TSB's on NHTSA to see if there is something to watch out for. Otherwise enjoy your MO.
I am in Dallas and looking for a 2003 Murano AWD w/cloth. I have been offered the same with the premium package at invoice(about $29400). Is that a good price? I was hoping to get a deal below invoice since it is a closeout. Any recommendations on dealerships in Dallas? Regards Sanjiv
I bought a used car from a dealer sometime back. They told me they would change the title and send me necessary documents. However, according to them, before they could file it with the DPS/DMV, there was a fire at the dealership and the title got destroyed. Now, the dealer claims to be in court (as the car title was'nt apparently changed from the earlier party he bought it from) to get a new title issued. Now, my registration sticker is expired and I want to get it renewed and get my title as its been several months since I paid the dealer for the car. I would appreciate it if you could advise me on what can I do. I paid the dealer by check, so I can prove I've paid him the money. Thanks.
I picked up a new 04 this week & drove it home from NC to Atlanta. Included: touring package, Dynamic control, XM radio, floor mats, splash guards, cargo protector, & wind deflector. Sticker price, $36,760.00. Paid $300 below invoice to cancel out $299 DOC fee. Drive home was about 350 miles, & I got almost 21 MPG in hilly terrain. I thought that was decent for the initial outing. Handling & ride were great. The CVT was impeccable. Thanks for all the great posts on this site for making my selection easier. Regards..........adnips
Edmunds list the price of "what others are paying" for the 2004 as MSRP. Is this because there is not enough data yet on people buying the 2004's? Scanning through these messages, it looks like most of you are purchasing the 2004 Murano for near or below invoice? Thanks.
scottva22............I'd be surprised if the pricing leaned towards MSRP, especially if the snow is flying where you live. No doubt I got a great deal on the exact vehicle I was looking for. I spent 2 months trying to find the SE with dynamic control & AWD here in Atlanta. The 04s just really started coming into the market in late October. I think you should aim for invoice to $300 above. December is a great month to do a deal. Good luck!.......adnips
adnips: Thanks for the info. Yes, snow has started to fly up here in DC. Speaking of which, the other question I had is real-life experience with the Murano in the snow. Would really appreciate hearing about related experiences. Our decision has come down to the Murano vs. the Mercury Mountaineer for various reasons, most notably the third-row option in MM, but that is for another discussion thread.

The 350z, and the Murano remain built in Japan.
Why would Nissan consider moving the production for such a small annual sales number to the US?
They already have a fully functioning assembly plant running in Japan. Just makes no economic sense.

I think NY will charge you for the difference in sales tax between NY and NJ.

No, the metal air intake stem and cap are if you have tire pressure monitor.
Look for the VDC button as explained is the best way to tell.

That kind of defeats the purpose of a message board doesn't it? :-)
