Ok i cant keep up with all this internet lingo so what does AMF mean???? I dont spend my life on here and dont know or care about abbreviations so just say it.
Just ordered my 2000 model 1/2 Ton LS. Build date to delivery quoted at 10 weeks.
I have seen 6 on the lot at my local dealer here in Pittsburgh. While this dealer has the 2nd highest allocation in the state - they expect delivery to be spotty on dealer orders.
Good luck to all other 2000 orders! Let's get'em on the road soon!
I ordered my 2000LS on 7/19/99 i got the 5300 v8 at,foglamps, aluminum wheels, air cleaner, tinted glass. My price was $23,477 got order num. in 3 days and build date is for 9/13/99 so I hope to be cruising by the end of september. planing on a trip to vegas to break it in. OUT
Where do you live. I am asking because I was given the same estimate of 8 weeks, and I am wondering if it has anything to do with what part of the country you live in. Everybody else seems to be waiting 12 weeks or so.
Ordered my 2500 4wd reg cab LB most options on Aug. 9, got order number Aug. 17 (1 week hold due to no LB allocation). Build week is Sept. 20. So that's 6 weeks from GM accepting the order. Then add 2-3 weeks for delivery. Not bad. I'm in Northern CA.
Here's what my experience has been to date: 1) Went to dealer on 7/31 and made deal. 2) Got Order #, 1.5 weeks later 3) Called dealer every week to find out the builddate. We just found out it has been built - 9/13. 4) Dealer said the truck would be checked out at the factory (probably just sitting in the lot!), and then shipped. About 3 weeks I can pick it up. Will post back when that happens. My order was a 1500 ext.cab Z-71
i ordered my black, 3/4 ton, reg cab, long bed, 4x4, on august 23, and just got a build date of october 11, so i hope its here by november. i skipped ahead of 10 other orders because they were all ext. cabs. hahahah. no kids yet, just me ,the woman , and the dog.
1st week of july to now and its lost somewere.ended up taking avantage of the 99 rebate[500]+i ended up saving more money over the past 4 months & ended up with much better optioned truck. p.s. this is the best truck going, not a single problem.and beleive me im lookin.
History: Placed order with dealer 7/31. Order entered in GM computer 8/10. Notified by salesman that it was in today. Will pick up Thur. night. So that's about 8-9 weeks. That's pretty lucky I guess. Anyway a couple of interesting things the salesman told me. It shipped without the heated mirrors, or trailer hitch installed. The salesman said the parts are at the dealer though and that the heated mirrors were installed in 5 minutes today. The trailer hitch will also be done there - about a 1 hour job. I think when I get it home I better look for everything else including the transmission cooler.
a build date. I ordered on 9-9 and still no build date. checked out the wheels.com/new and it appears there are limits on ext. cabs (thats one), locking rear differentials (thats two) and 3.73 rear ends (Strike three). I guess I had better start searching lots and making compromises. If I don't have a build date by the end of the week I may settle for a best available choice, oh well!
Ordered 00 on May 27, was told it would be latter part of September for delivery and here it is, 00 Reg cab LS, 5.3, auto, 373, locking diff, Bucket seats wity 6 way seats. Long wait, but at least it came in on time. Read alot of horror stories on this forum but I think it's the complaints that get posted rather than the pleasant experience. Hope the ownership proves as good as the ordering experience. Will post later and hopefully I can be as postive about the trucks performance.
I ordered a 2000 Silverado LT 1500 2WD Short Fleetside Box Pickup on August 10th. Options ordered included: Trailering Special Equipment, Locking Differential - Rear Axle, P255/70R16 ALS WOL Tires, High Capacity Air Cleaner, and 3.73 Rear Axle Ratio. It arrived at the dealership (Miles Chevrolet in Decatur, IL) on September 27th.
It was built at the Ft. Wayne Assembly Plant in Roanoke, IN.
Pick up my truck as scheduled and drove around Phonix Az for 2 days putting 135 miles on it before heading for home (Las Vegas). Only fault was the temp would not read on the mirror, will catch on first trip in to dealer. Other wise I looked for every fault that's been on this forum and couldn't find any. Really satisfied ....... Later ~~~~~ vetzs
I was just informed today while asking the dealer when my truck was comming that my build date has been moved out to 10/25... I ordered it on 8/11 and was told after that the build date was 9/27. The truck is a 2k Chevy Silverado, ext cab, shortbed, 5.3, auto, 3.73, Z71... Indigo/Pewter with the fender flares.. Wheels.com has a list of assembly line shortages and delays for domestic vehicles (maybe foreign to, didn't look)SOme are delayed 8 to 14 weeks!. Luckily I am not in a real hurry since my '96 is still running like a bear.
Just a update: ordered July 22nd. Built week of Sept 27th. Arrived at dealer today. Acouple weeks longer than they thought but right on schedule as per my calculations. Bill
I ordered a Y2K Sierra Z71 LT with everything but the kitchen sink on 9/11. Dealer seems in a fog about what is happening. He keeps saying call back in a couple of weeks. Anyone else order around that date? Do you have build dates?
according to www.wheels.com (follow the industry reference link then the assembly lines link and look at GM trucks) this shows which parts gm is short and what it means to us waiting to get and/or order our Silverado's... they claim 8 to 14 week lead times. and they also say "Availability is limited on the Silverado: Extended cab Extended cab with 1SC package 1/2 and 3/4 ton models"
I ordered my truck 8/11, original build date 9/27, new build date 10/25....
Has anyone seen or know anything about the availability of the ZX3 suspension system. I was told by dealer that it was available only on the new 4 door extended cab. Have had an LT on order since July and still not even a build date! Any suggestions short of wrecking the dealership?
I forget to include that thus far, the Silverado does not have any of the wind noises, tranny shutter, or vibrations. That is vibrations any longer. It came with General 255-70R-16 tires and there was a very minor vibration consistant at any and all speeds. The tires were aired at 35, 36, 36, 38. I aired all four tires at 40psi and ended the minor vibration. The puppy rides like a limo!
Initially the ZX3 was an option intended for 2WD only but it seems to be a valid option on the new 4th door trucks as you have stated although from what I've read here, nobody has ever received a truck with this suspension. I too was looking for an alternative to the Z71 suspension but was afraid to order this option in fear it may hold up my order forever.
After latest round of b.s., dealership claims that truck will be built "this month" (Nov.). Can Chevrolet really not provide detailed information as to when an ordered truck will be built? Are the dealerships treated as much like mushrooms as we, the paying customers are?
Just an update to tell everyone that my 2k Silverado has finally arrived at the dealer. It was ordered on 8/11 and I received the call today, 11/6. I will be picking it up this Tuesday. Its a 2k 4wd silverado ext cab Z71 LS. With the 5.3 V8, 3.73 gears with the locking differential. (all those thingscausing the delays!) I will update this site with any problems (or lack of) after I get the truck.
I have allocations for 3 and 4 door Silverados. I can place orders for $300 over invoice for 3 doors and $500 over invoice for 4 door models. Also I can have them delivered anywhere in the continental USA.

Placed order on 9/27/99---2wd,ext cab,8'box 6000 eng,3.73rea,4-speed auto,h-d susp,lock-diff,h-d trailing equip,cloth buckets,electrochromic mirror,rear defogger,tinted glass,5th wheel wiring.Dealer said 12-16 wks. Have no firm delivery date yet.
Ordered 2k Silverado Victory Red 4x4 Ex Cab Sportside LS, 5.3L 3.73 LS Rear With many other goodies on 8/27/99 (At Dead Invoice). Dealer called 11/20 to say that truck has arrived. Hope to pick it on Monday 11/22/99. Can't wait to drive this beauty!!
Ordered on 8/20, 2k Silverado,LS,3/4, ext.cab, LB, 4x4, 410, buckets, auto trac, & many other extras. This truck is awesome. For a truck, this baby is smooooooooooooth! No lack of power for sure. Haven't put my foot in it yet, but I know the power is there. Love this truck!!!!!!!!!!
I put in my order for a '00 4dr LS, 5.3, loaded 2WD on Monday ($500 over and advertising). Please post any info anyone has on order to deliv timelines, especially 4drs. I'm thinking first 4dr. deliveries should be anytime now. Thanks in advance. I've really learned a lot reading this site.
I ordered my 2k Silverado 1/2 ton, reg. cab, Z-71 sportside, 5.3, Auto-trac, sliding window, tinted glass, towing package, 265 tires, power seats, black, on 8-7-99. I was told 6-8 weeks. Then I was told a build date of 10-18-99 and I would have it the first part of Nov. Called dealer and they couldn't find it. GM pushed the build date back. Now they tell me it MIGHT be built on Dec. 20. Nothing is for sure yet. I'm getting a little pi__ed off.
Ordered my 2K Sierra SWB reg cab on Oct. 22; build date of Nov. 22; shipped Nov. 29; dealer says I should drive away by Dec. 3. Invoice price shows a price increase of about $130 from order date. Since I'm paying invoice plus "advertising" (read "extra dealer profit") of $230 I guess I won't complain too loud. I'm definitely taking a long test drive, though, because of all of the problems I've read about here. Since I still have my trusty '96 Silverado, I'm not accepting delivery on the 2K Sierra unless it is absolutely perfect!
of my 2K Seirra yesterday (Dec. 3) as promised. It took five weeks to the day to deliver. I must say, the dealer stuck to everything promised. I put 45 miles on the new truck with the salesman aboard and couldn't find anything to complain about. Needless to say, after what I have read on this site, I am relieved. By the way, it is a REGULAR CAB (2 door) short wide bed, white with pewter (2-tone) SLE, 5.3, auto, pewter 40/20/40 seats. Now all I have to do is decide: (1) What kind of wheels to replace the GMC wheels with (I'm kind of leaning towards some Silverado take-offs for $300; I really like the Chevy wheels alot, but don't know if I can live with the bow tie emblems(!) (2) What to do about bed protection. I'd like a spray-in, especially now that they can match the white, but at $365, I probably will go with a PendaTray for now. (3) What's with the two-tone paint not continuing onto the tail gate? I am definitely going to fix that pronto.
The dealer ordered a 4 door, 5.3 L, 1500 in September. I put money down on it in November. Still no build date. Does anybody have a build date for their 4-door Silverado?
Put down payment on CK1500 Extended cab 4x4, Z71, towing, 3.73, 4door on 10/8/99. Dealer called week of Nov 21 said our order had been accepted by GM on 11/18/99. Today we had call from Dealer and were given our Order #. The Dealer said we should receive a build date in about 10 days. He said he thinks we should expect the truck at the Dealer in approx. 8 to 10 weeks. Hope he's on track. Well having an actual Order # is progress!!!!
After reading that some people have build dates for their orders, I phoned GM back. I was told that when I phoned the other day about my order, I spoke to the wrong person. Huh?
Now according to the GM representative that I spoke to today, my truck is to be built within 7 to 10 days? I was told to phone next week about my order. It will be built at the Indiana Truck Plant.
Thank you to everybody who shared their ordering information on this form.
Our order # is for the 4door LT. I'll post when I get a build date. I plan on calling the GM number and giving them my order # in the next few days to see what they have to say.
Well I finally got my call they are building my 00 Z71 4th door LT they are building it Jan 17th so the dealer said I should have mine by the end of Jan. paid 500 over invoice

Does anybody have a build date for their 4-door Silverado?
GM told me that my order will be built at the end of 02/00 or early 03/00.
Good Luck, everybody

All I have been given is a order number & a very vague time frame. I'm not very impressed with the way General Motors handles customer orders!
Please confirm that your truck is a 1/2 ton.
Thanks,

Just a suggestion. But you might do well to get a clarification as to whether the order has been changed to 3 door,,,,,or is it really a 4 door.
