  Someone asked earlier about an aftermarket trailer hitch for their truck. I got the trailering/handling package, but did not order the factory hitch. Ended up needing one but didn't want to pay gm's price.
  
  Reese makes a very nice hitch for the 99-00 silverado/sierra. It is a bolt on item and is tubular like the factory hitch. Cost a whopping $94 dollars as compared to the $275 I was quoted for a gm model. Its all hidden except for the 2"receiver. Actually more hidden than the factory one!

  I installed a borla system on my 00 Silverado 5.3. I've got the split rear exit. It's all stainless and the tips are welded on. It was easy to install and fits perfect. My only complaint is that it is more quiet than I expected. It's a straight through flow muffler but it's not loud by any means. The Borla is a nice system and will last forever, it depends how long you want it to last and where you live. In the Northeast that is a major consideration. Fyi, I got it at truckperformance.com for $488. and free shipping at that time. Also, it looks cool!

  I've purchased several GM trucks over the years, and have noticed the same type of handling. Rough on impact, but otherwise kind of floaty. On the first truck I purchased some Rancho's and felt an immediate difference, less harsh, but more
  control. My '97 Yukon 2wd came with Bilsteins, rode smoothly, but they didn't maintain good chassis control. Replaced those with Edelbrock IAS and noticed much more control with little or no degradation in ride quality. On my 2000 1/2 ton Silverado, I replaced the Tenneco's with the Edelbrock's as my first change. They ride well, and give more control. I recently found out that Bilstein makes a standard duty shock and a H.D. shock. I hear that the H.D. shocks provide more control for trailering than the Edelbrock. BTW I think I probably had the light duty Bilsteins on the Yukon, because they didn't provide very good control. Happy with the Edelbrock's, if you don't like them you can return them free of charge within 30 days.
