    That bubbletop survived well for it being a 70s shot, nice looking car.

    Column-mount 3-speed, floor-mount 4-speed, Powerglide 2-speed auto, Hydramatic 4-speed auto. What was the fifth? The bolt-on auxiliary overdrive?

    Edit: this thing says the 409 was a midyear intro. And how pitiful is it that a Saturn Aura weighs almost as much as an old full-size big-block car?

    Yep, basically a previous-generation clone of the late '90s Nissan Cefiro which was a tarted up late '90s Maxima. We did get that Cefiro as the Infiniti I30.

    I don't know about the other two trannys - but there was no four speed hydro available on the chevy. The variable stator two speed Turbo Glide may still have been available in '61?

    That's the Hawk - a fictional car - I remember this car with some facination from the 70's TV mini-series "Wheels" from Aurther Haily's novel - If I recall the story took place in the mid-sixties and this car was supposed to pull the fledgling car company out - by producing a futuristic model. It was pretty cool looking at the time...

    Yes. Arthur Hailey's "Wheels" is a good book and I wish I could see that movie again. I'm really waiting for someone to discover it in some network's vault and release it on DVD. I spent 10 years looking for this magazine (it's from TV Guide in 1978).

    I thought the Hawk was cool in 1978...and I think it's cool now.

    Close, it's an earlier Jensen 541, ca. 1953 with a milder version of the Austin 6 than the 541R.
    Various versions of the 541 were produced between 1953 and 1962. I have no idea why the grille was blanked off. :confuse:

    Thanks for arranging them.

    I had this planned as I clicked taillights of cars at shows this summer. Then the Cadillac post where I was busy out of town and didn't have time to look up those rear fins and lights reminded me I had this group.

    How do I downsize pictures when posting using the Img button. I used to be able to do height=300 width=500 using the right proportion sizes for the numbers and shrink pictures.

    I drove one of those suckers from San Francisco to Guatemala and back. Worked great, too. I think we had one problem--alternator, which some wizard wired back up in a little grass shack somewhere.

    Ver-y obscure. It may be a UK-built fiberglas remake of the Citroen 2CV; I have heard of a coupe, built in Slough England (the Citroen plant there) but never saw a Bijou cabriolet. This must be a one-off?
