wouldn't consider a 2500 burb unless it had the 8.1. That thing is way to heavy to consider anything less. Like trying to get a barge moving from stop light to stop light. More so if it is filled with kegs of beer...LOL!

What happened with the story last night? Did u at least tell it to the chick u came home with?
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
The new one or the wife....ROFLMFAO!!!

Window sticker...is that the one that comes with the truck with all the pricing? With the dealer code? So if you were to stop by at a dealer you could look at the invoice on the window and get their code?

    Dean
  • pjcavpjcav Member Posts: 80
you guys are right its the one at the bottom of the window sticker. if you went to a lot you could get it off that, or i could just tell you to use 30029.

Looked in the rear view mirror and saw a white Lightning coming up quick from the rear. Since I figured no point in racing the guy, I'd throw him a curve. Just as he came up on my tailgate, he cut to the right to pass. Well, I decided to cut to the right at the same time then cut back into my lane. Well, that was one pissed Lightning owner. As he slammed on his brakes to avoid me, I had already cut back almost into the left lane making him look stupid to anyone looking cause it appeared he was standing on his brakes for no reason. I knew there was something to be gained by watching Smokey and the Bandit....LOL!!

    Have a great Sunday!!

I gather from your email address, you live in the islands. I am glad to hear that. The one thing I don't need it someone playing lane switching games!!

You may think what you did was a lot of fun but you could have ended up looking up out of a coffin along with other folks on the road!!
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
what I did accomplish was to get the Lightning driver to slow down. Figured I was at 60 and the rate that he gained, he must have been doing 90-100 in a 50. After our incident, he was no longer doing the 90-100. You can look at it either way.

3 coats of the z5 complete my degree in anality. ??? LOL. ryan, thanks for being my billboard. tell you what...you go camping for a weekend and this place explodes. the tundra vs...chat seems to have come alive again. not sure how much i'm going to participate/fuel this one. gettin' tired of whuppin' the rats all the time. we'll see how bored i am at work tomorrow...

    Dean,
Sure he might have been trying out some tires? Then maybe after the incident, decided he was treading on thin....well maybe not in Hawaii, but thin tread just the same. Here in Rhode Island, the Ford would have kept on comin', and gone around in the break-down lane! There is a surge in the little "Pacific-Rim Import" vehicles, here, that the kids soup up like they are competing in the Austrailian Touring Car Championships, or something. It's that way in New England...everybody in too much of a hurry in such a small place to go anywhere. I have to remember to adjust my driving style when I pick up the rental anywhere outside of here! LOL

Anyone have a heads up on an intermittent stalling problem with the silverado. My friend has one and it's driving him crazy. Please post. Thanks
  • modvptnlmodvptnl Member Posts: 1,352
Thanks for making our lives so much safer!!!

    Lincoln5, I agree with you.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
I'm impressed. I never thought a dodge guy would post here. Or have you gone back to ford since f150 became toyunone...LOL!! Shall we call you the cryptkeeper now?
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
Same thing here. Got some bouncing hondas and acuras going fast on the freeway. Had some major pileups too. I guess they should have gone to driving school before putting on the racing gear. At least the truck drivers don't drive too fast...well maybe with the exception of some Lightning owners...
  • modvptnlmodvptnl Member Posts: 1,352
Left lane squatters cause more accidents or near misses then speeders. If you aren't passing someone stay to the right and don't worry how fast others are going.

Oby, are you sure you're not Zbad reincarnated? Sure are getting nasty lately!!!

I always said F150 didn't own a Ford. He was just trying to give us hard working, decent, truth telling Ford owners a bad name.
  • redsilveradoredsilverado Member Posts: 1,000
maybe all those circles around that island are
    finally getting to oby. LOL
  • modvptnlmodvptnl Member Posts: 1,352
I forgive you, oby. Being cramped up on such a hell on earth place like that I can see how one could get "island fever".

Did you want to be Highway Patrolman/Five0 at one time in your life????LOL!! BOOK 'EM DANO er I mean OBY!!!

    Ok back to chevy trucks.

Went by the local dealership tonight they have added 1 2500HD to their inventory. Its sweet a black ext cab 4x4 with the 8.1.

Tim on a side note this one company has been doing alot of road construction by my house and the project manager guy had a 98 Z71. Well friday he drove by and he now has a 2500HD ext cab 4x4. I guess people do want to move up to a heavier duty truck nowadays.

I guess the posts about you dancing with your gf are so much more on topic. LOL!!!!

"Oh, and further more Tim.......and on a side note Tim......."

I apologize, Ryan. I didn't realize I was on the personal TIM and Ryan site.LMAO!!!!

After participating in this thread for over a year now I've never heard of an intermittent stalling problem with the Silverado. There is something wrong with your friend's truck, but it's not a common problem. He/she needs to get it in to the dealer, hopefully the problem would have caused an error code to be stored. Most error codes are only held in the computer for 100 engine starts so he needs to get the truck in fairly soon after the problem occurs.

Oby may or may not have been endangering himself and others, but until you've driven Hawaii's freeways - you'll never understand....mod - what makes you think Hawaii is "hell on earth" last I checked - all you land-locked folks were still shelling out the big bucks to spend a few days in the paradise we call home!! My apologies for posting on your Chevy site, since I just bought a Super Crew - but I have owned Chevy's in the past and I'm not intolerant LOL!! Go in peace

Thanks for the info on changing orders after having them accepted. Turns out KL5 isn't available yet anyway, so no need to change. I've waited too long already.

Snow plow prep? Well, I'm originally from Chicago, and could see myself moving back up North someday. Not that I would ever plow for money, but it is one of those things that I wanted there in case. Plus, with VYU you get a 130 amp alternator, bigger radiator, and stiffer springs. The stiffer springs won't bug me, and the other two are worth the trade off. When I ordered I tried to get every useful option I could ever imagine needing. I'm going to keep this truck a long time. I kept the last one 10 years, and for the last 4 or so I was really wishing it was a 4x4 extended cab. If it had been, I probably wouldn't be getting a new one. I'm sure this one will be a daily driver for about 10 years too, and then it will just become a hauler for the times when I need a truck, and I'll get a sports car or something for the new daily ride. You always need a truck, but to keep dropping 30K on them every 5-6 years when the one you have has everything you need, just doesn't make sense to me. To each his own, but I'd rather spend my money on something else.

    alrighty then

Dash rattle fix - I stuffed the dash with a bunch of foam stuff. Didnt work rattle got louder took the dash apart this morning and all the faom had been pushed furthur back and was doing nothing to stop the rattle. So i took it all out. Replaced with different foam and it seems to have subsided for now.

  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
Didn't know you were that old...Hawaii Five O been off the air good part of twenty five years. I think McGarret would have caught more criminals had he been driving a silverado instead of that bomber merc/ford.

Do you think cryptkeeper fits you? Me? nasty? no don't think so. Just curious as to why you posted that distasteful tale.

    bco

I could've sworn you had more coats of Z5 than that since you said "finally satisfied" LOL!!

    hulagirl

Thanks for the kind words. Sad to say that mod owns a ford. Well, you can't blame a vehicle for its owner as it had no say in it...LOL!! I think UH had better go back to being the Bows, this warrior thing isn't working out too well. Talk about rocky starts and look who they are facing this weekend....

Does anybody have a slipping trans problem after they have been stopped at a stop light. I just had my truck in for another week of service for other problems and they could not duplicate the slip doesen't surprise me though.

what kind of truck do you have? 4x4? ext cab? 1500/2500? a little more details please...
  • 99crewcab199crewcab1 Member Posts: 79
If it's a newer style silverado/sierra your not alone. When you step on the gas, you dont go. GM knows about the problem, but for now there is no fix. So far this has happened to me twice with 2,200 miles. Other people have said not to worry about it, no damage is being done to the tranny.

got a valid dealer code for sierraHD. The dealer code I have for silveradoHD of 15257 doesn't work.

    Thanks!

Thought of Tim this A.M. Saw a 2500 loaded with bales of hay at least 2 feet above the cab. There was no sag in the bed at all and he was doing at least 65-70, probably only turning about 1200 rpms.
  • dalejrdalejr Member Posts: 1
anyone hearing a clunk in the left front of the late 99 chev 1500 4x4?? I have 8,000miles, I have heard there is a problem- but the CHEV dealer's so no way!!
  • xringxring Member Posts: 129
    When I'm doing 70mph with my 2500 (6.0L, 3.73) the tach says about 2200rpm.

    Just my $.02.

    30029 it worked for me......

Steeltex A/T's, lets see now NHTSI has 169 complaints prompting a preliminary investigation now, so by the time they issue a recall maybe I'll have 30000 on them, then get a brand new set of say Michelin's???
Yea that would be nice since these babies go for $120 each x 5, sounds better already.

I think anyone holding Firestone/Bridgestone stock should dump it now if it's not already to late....their gonna go belly-up on this one.

Dean & Anne, Please send me a ticket to the hell hole island's anyday, been there 6 times and just can't see enough of them.........planning the next return trip for our 25th anniversary in 2 years, can't wait to go back to those hell hole islands. LOL

But the best part is how you kept Ryan "twisting in the wind". It is just too easy to get him going!

Sometimes sarcasm doesn't come across the keyboard very well. Of course Hawaii is paradise. Just don't let Oby know I said that!!

Oby, cryptkeeper is fine. I'm 38 and I remember five0 real well. You still haven't answered the question on the Firestone/Concorde picture Tim posted. If I'm morbid making up fictional stories what does that make you laughing at REAL tragedy?

Ryan, I know with school and Tim and all you have a lot on your mind but I'll post it again. I have a '00 SD, 4x, CC, V10, 5 speed that pulls my tunnel boat to Lake Mead. It replaced a '96 F150 4X. If the truth be known I was on the fence for a while between the Silverado 2500 and the SD until I ran into Zbad last year right before ordering. That and the few obvious CC/SD features that Chevy couldn't offer.
  • markbuckmarkbuck Member Posts: 1,021
Busted again. Going in W to get seat belt recall work, front brake hose recall work, and parking brake fixed AGAIN.

Everything else about this truck has been great. I have run the living tar outta the 4.8 over the last 28k miles.

Still no allocation for the 2001HD CC.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
Sorry mod i seriously didnt know what kinda truck you had it was a geniune question.

    Tim nice story.

My duelers still arent in yet dammit!!! No new tires this wk.

    Ryan
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
I would describe more of a hesitation. I had this happen a few times. The worst happened about 3000 mls ago when i was in reverse put it in drive and the truck didnt want to go forward then all the sudden the rear wheel chirped and i took off. Hasnt happened since.

Also mark whats the seatbelt recall? Certain trucks or all of em?

    Ryan
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
I would have hoped you'd see the difference by now. If Tim's picture was strewn with dead bodies after the concorde crashed, it would have been in bad taste. Fortunately, it did not and was found humorous. On the other hand you painted a picture of dead kids. So either I've lost my sense of humor or dead kids are a joke. On the other hand, if you said that you were in your truck following the leaking toyota and you crashed and burned...maybe that would be funny? Sorry maybe it's me....hey, lighten up...what's a few dead kids...just my $.02
  • modvptnlmodvptnl Member Posts: 1,352
The families of the victims of the Concorde crash find it humorous also.

Please don't try to justify your double standard. At least in my story there were no REAL people who lost their loved ones.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
Double standards...not even close. Looked at another way...did the Concorde have Firestones? which resulted in the crash? I would say that was making a joke about Firestones which has been the subject of many jokes as of late. So...what was the purpose of your post?
