No Acura Appreciation Days here in CT! You LET the dealer wash your car? I made sure to tell them NOT to touch my car the two times I brought it in for oil/filter changes. They want to wash it, vacuum it, check the air in the tires etc. NO thanks. I'll take care of all that myself. I don't want scratches on the car, grease on the seats or 35 lbs. of air in the tires from some minimum wage worker who could care less about my car.

I noticed someone in the Accord forum said there was a car appreciation month.... don't know much about that...
I'm hoping to find somebody here who has installed some extra stereo equipment. Not that the car needs it, it has a lot already. But, my wife and I have portable Minidisc players and also a Minidisc stereo. We love the quality (trust me when I say it is MUCH better than MP3) and the sheer portability and flexibility of the design. However, currently the only way to hook it up to the car stereo is to take the portable player with me and use a cassette adapter.
Has anybody tried to install the MD changer or a single MD player? What was your experience with this?
By the way... 19,500 miles on my Type-S and not a single problem to complain about. Excellent car. Hope it lasts!
Thanks!
check out www.acura-cl.com some of those guys have done stuff like that to their car and maybe they can help.
replace the timing belt if severe service but normal service can wait till 105K miles.I have been maintaining my car under normal conditions.
No prolonged idling,no high heat or dust.Dealers
will tell you 60K because they make money. Is there
an unbiased mechanic that will answer honestly.
I have owned many Hondas and have never had a
belt break.
If it breaks, you still have a valid complaint as they say 105K.
roof is in vent mode. however, when the moonroof is retracted it is also a nuisance. i did
have the dealership install a deflector and yet it hasn't made an appreciable difference in limiting the amount of the roar. i was thinking that perhaps i should have the deflector removed. and i don't like the idea of cranking the stereo to outmatch the roar of the wind but that is an alternative. it is a shame to have the moonroof but not be able to enjoy some of its functionality.
i don't notice any noise with the roof and sunshade closed. i haven't had a need to go to the
dealership.
do they look nice? do they look like they can handle the elements?
is the fit customized?
how much did you pay?
from where did you get them?
thanks in advance. -- c.
problem? Other than that it still drives like new.
It would look like new too except for parking lot
dings. The worst dings come from big SUV owners
who have got to be the rudest people on the planet.
Of course, there are some aftermarket mats, but I don't think that they look as nice.
I would ask the dealer about this or go to the http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov site to check this out. I don't think there is any limited warranty on seatbelts because of their importance. I think I read this somewhere a long time ago.

Also, for those folks who drive (or have driven) a 5 speed manual transmission, how do find the CL's 5 speed sequential sport-shift mode compares? Do you miss the clutch?
3.2 with the semi automatic. There is no comparison
of a good 5 speed manual to the semi-auto. The reason being is a computer is overriding your wishes and a torque converter links the motor to the transmission. I find that in full auto the shifts are so perfect I cannot improve on it.The other thing in a crowded area there is no place to safely use the potential of 225 hp and sport
shifting.I also have a 2.3 CL and for suburban
driving it is quiet adequate with an auto.

fastdriver - ok... now I want to see some interior pix with Zaino
Mmmmm.....interior Zaino shots? I don't use Zaino on the interior. When I first ordered the Zaino in the summer of 98 for my 99 Chrysler 300M, I ordered the leather treatment stuff, but never used it because the 300 had dark grey "leather" that didn't show any dirt. Simce I was usually the only one in the car, the seats never got dirty.
The CL now has the parchment leather interior, so I'll probably have to use the Zaino interior cleaner on this car if it's still good after all these years. As long as the seats are clean, I don't go crazy with them because it's a lease car. I don't keep them long enough to worry that the leather will dry out or crack.

One minor problem that annoyed me is that my moonroof squeaks in the closed position when going over bumps. I have heard a few people mention that there is some kind of tape that the dealer can install to reduce the moonroof rattle. Has anyone had this done, and does it actually solve the problem? Any information regarding this would be appreciated.
marked recommended emission service.The owners
manual does not list any sort of service. What the heck is it? After 4 years my car is holding up very well,if I could get back that new car smell
it would be perfect.
And I too had the tape applied to my moonroof about 6 months ago and all's been quiet so far.
Well... over 10k in my car and I hope that Acura will use the future RL chasis for the CL (not TL) - rumors has it that the RL might be RWD.
1. Does anyone have any good info on whether this is a fair price or not? I seemed to think it was pretty good.
2. How is the CL (particularly the Type S) in the snow? I live in the midwest and will have to drive it in the snow several times per winter.
3. I drive a lot of highway miles, and want a car that is comfortable "cruising." Would the standard CL (without the stiffer suspension/17" wheels) be a better choice for me? The CL will be a significant performance upgrade from my current vehicle ('95 Camry), so I am not sure I need to go all the way to a Type S.
Thanks in advance for your opinions. I really appreciate it.
2) I live in Eastern PA area where there's some snow, and if you drive cautiously, the 17's aren't too bad...but if you are still concerned, just get a set of snow rims and tires (16"). the biggest problem i had was during acceleration, but then the traction control/vsa would kick in for a couple seconds.
3) For cruising purposes, i feel the type-s is pretty comfortable. I think the biggest difference in comfort is non-cruising driving through rougher roads and city streets, where the standard is probalby a little less harsh...but the -s isn't that harsh either.
Congrats!
Fall (at least the California version) is here. It's pretty quiet out there.......and more than just a few Acura folk are giving the Reserve Salute when asked about the 6-spd availability.
Congratulations! The only tip I have for you right now is WATCH OUT FOR CURBS or you'll become a member of the scratched rim club! ;-)) Because the rims stick out further than the tires, it's easy to scratch them if you're not careful.
You'll love this car. I now have 10,400+ miles on mine since 3/28/01. I love to drive this car. Pics are in my profile if you click on my name. Best car I have ever owned!
