Nice Web site and your Jeep looks Great!! I need to take some pictures of mine. I have a Site, but just alot of generic pictures. I'm gonna try to take a few today and get em scanned.... Your dog looks GREAT!! I used to have a Boxer and I would take her in my old 94 Sahara. We would be off roading, right on the edge of a long drop off and the dog would be looking over the door at the drop off and then would look at me. She would do this about 6 or 7 times as if to say " What the hell are you doing!!! This doesn't look safe!!" She was a very good off roading dog!!!I haven't taken my new dog 'Aspen' off roading yet, but I bet he will love the freedom of going topless..
Have you read the "software questions answered" section on the Town Hall welcome page? They explain what's going on now. Apparently, they had no choice but to change software.
Anyway, Chef, a lot of your trouble may be caused by circumventing the welcome page, if you are getting into Wrangler IV from a bookmark. You need to go through the welcome page and then get into Wrangler IV. The welcome page is what actually logs you in, even if you are on auto log in, you don't actually get logged in until you go through the welcome page.
Try it and see if you have any more trouble. That "software questions answered" section I mentioned has lots of info.
What's your Jeep's name? You must have given your Jeep a name, right?
Catch you later, and thanks for the kind words about the web pages.

Have you hugged your Jeep today?
As soon as your dealer actually places an order, he will get a VON (vehicle order number). If he hasn't got one for your Jeep, he hasn't ordered it yet.
As far as I know they don't have to wait for any certain number of orders to accumulate before placing the orders with the factory. They placed my order as soon as we made the deal.
This is a good news/bad news situation for ordering a new Jeep. The good news is that the orders are way down because of slow sales, so they can jump right on a new order and get it built and shipped. The bad news is that because of the slow sales, they are taking certain weeks as down weeks and are not producing any Jeeps in those weeks. Overall, I think the slow sales is actually a positive factor, even though they are occasionally taking down weeks. Like I said, mine was built and delivered in three weeks and two days, even though they took a down week during that time. I live close enough to Toledo that they didn't use rail shipment, so the shipping time was only about three days.
Hope this helps.

I am still laughing at your DC comment. I mounted mine on the spare tire carrier. Some antennas come tuned and some need to be tuned. If you find a good shop they will tune it and check it with a SWR. Search Jeeps sites if you want to look at different mounts. I copied mine off this guys http://home.flash.net/~ffoster/frames.htm. I want say the k40 has a tunable antenna on the outside. It looked good.
Hey wheelsdown glad to hear from you. Who the heck is #88? I can't remember off hand. Not that big of a nascar fan. I do know that #24 is the best driver ever on nasacar.
don't forget to copy your post before posting and spell check. You can use short cut keys, the edit menu at the top of the browser or right click menu. short cut keys are ctrl A(hightlight), ctrl c(copy) ctrl v(paste). It list the short cut keys next to the commands in the menu.
Chefrkm:
I know alot of people mount their antenas where the spare tire is, it's practical and keeps it out of the way. I am ordering a 5' firefly antenna and I am going to mount it on my license plate frame and secure it to my roof rack. I am also going to put a quick release catch on it. But there are also bumper mounts that require no drilling and can be found almost anywhere.
Eagle63:
About the tires and wheels... If your not willing to spend any extra money then get the 30" with the heavy duty shocks, but if you are willing then get the grizzly's if you really like those and slap some Rancho's or something on there... Much more heavy duty than even the stock. But if you do some shmoozing with the dealer I'm sure they'll put the Heavy duty shocks and the Grizzly's on there for you.
anyway, what axle did you get? I got the Dana44. Everyone says to stay below 33 inch & I should be fine, but with all your extra weight who knows. Do you plan to off-raod much, I think that is where most to the breakage occurs.
At one point in time I saw some door straps for the Jeep doors. I dont like the ones that came on the Jeep. They are too long. When you open the door and the wind is blowing hard it catches the door and fires it open to a 90 degree angle. I want to get these straps I saw that only let the door open to like a 45 degree angle. If anyone has heard of these or ever used these I would like to hear from you.

Congrats on the Jeep! I personally love your choice of color. People will stare at it. It just stands out, much like me. But anyway.
chefrkm
I think that you could probably fix it to open at a less angle yourself. (Think Duck Tape or sewing it) That's just my suggestion.

Now, do you belong in the old fart category or are you one of the youngsters? Somewhere in between, maybe?
Be sure and get some links posted for some pics of that Jeep. What is his/her name? You have to name your Jeep, you know, or you will hurt its feelings.
tsjay
I know you will hug your Jeep tomorrow
With the OLD Fart or YOUNGSTERS category, I fit into the Youngsters group, sorry old geezers...Gen X rules.......:)

As for #88, I can't think any car painted two tone brown can look very good.

#88 is Dale Jerrett.
Thanks for the info on door straps. I have been loking for them. Wouldn't you think someone would make a velcro model thats adjustable to the length you want?
I am not sure if you have ever been there or not, but http://www.jayski.com is the BEST NASCAR information site on the web. Check it out!
Unfortunately, we don't have much snow. We have received our snow about one to two inches at a time, and only about three times all together.
I am waiting for "the big one, Elizabeth." I want at least a 12" snow sometime for Thelma and me to play in! Around here that's very unusual, though. You might go four or five years or even longer here in western Kentucky between snows like that.
It has been a very cold December: definitely colder than normal. We have had more like January temperatures for just about the whole month of December.
Thanks for your kind words about the web page and about Thelma Jane. I'll pass your compliments on to her.
I was just out to see her when I took my granddog out to do his business this morning. I took what was left of the garage door off yesterday. It had just about fallen completely apart, with about two thirds of the rollers out of the tracks. I tried to fix it, but I could see right away that it was a lost cause, so I just took it down. Now the stupid cats will be all over Thelma! I put a blanket over her hood last night.
Catch you later

Have you hugged you Jeep today?
Have fun! Send some of it back in this direction, will you? Don't hog it all to yourself.

Hi everybody! If you are interested in getting together for some chatting, 2001wrangler and I are trying to coordinate things, so that we can all participate in a chat session once in a while.
What seems to be the best is for us to use "Instant Message." It's readily available, is free, and it seems to work very well.
Now all of us that are on AOL have "Instant Message," but the version that comes with AOL does not allow you to chat with more than one person at a time, unless ALL parties are also on AOL.
What we have to do is download "Instant Message" from AOL, just like we would have to do if we weren't an AOL subscriber. This version allows you to chat with as many people as you want to, and the only requirement is that they also have "Instant Message," and it doesn't matter what ISP they have.
I did this yesterday, and it's no big deal. It was very easy to do.
So far there are four of us in the chat group. There's yours truly, 2001wrangler, dragonfly03, and spyrodragon.
So, it's off the ground, and now we welcome the rest of you to join us. We haven't set up any certain time yet, but you can at least download the "Instant Message" software and be ready to participate.
It ought to be fun, and the more the merrier. Please join us!

Have you hugged your Jeep today?
You can look up my email address in my profile and send me your user name. I will update my buddy list accordingly.
tsjay
Most people use the same screen name in Instant Message as their ISP user name, but it's not necessary to do that, I guess. I think you are free to choose any name you want. I just kept mine the same.
Put me on your list and holler at me sometime.

Re: my age. I am neither an old fart nor a spring chicken. I am 32 and have four great kids. I do think the Wrangler has an image as a young persons car, though. I think that is a good thing. My wife said her image of the Wrangler is a college kid's car. The age thing does bring up a vent I have, but I'll post it seperately so as not to clutter this up.
I have made the three obligitory commitments regarding my new car - no eating in it, no drinking in it, and parking it far away from the store to avoid door dings. What's the over/under on how long those will last?
I know you must be on cloud nine! Congratulations!
So you are an in-betweenwer age-wise, huh? Good deal, we need all ages represented here!
Are you going to join our chat group? Hope so.
Have fun with General Jackson! "Stonewall" is a great name! Way to go!
tsjay
Have you hugged Stonewall today? (saluted, maybe?)
So, be careful in letting family members drive him!
tsjay
JUST KIDDING!
I know what you mean. Everybody thinks that they know what you need to do. And nobody is bashful about expressing their opinion, either!
In your case, with an extra vehicle for family transportation, there's absolutely no reason you shouldn't have ANYTHING YOU WANT for your personal transportation. Just tell people to mind their own business.
Even if it weren't practical, it would still be YOUR decision, and would be nobody's business. I feel sorry for people who always do only things that are PRACTICAL! When do those people ever have any fun?
tsjay
Have you saluted your Stonewall today?
The only justification I give is "I wanted it"
I have wanted one since I was in the service in the early 60's. Of course, my TJ is not much like the military model I had experience with.
TJ's are noisy, ride rough, get poor mileage ,and are over priced. I love it!
We have about 26" of snow on the ground, I think about 3" of salt. I just got back from doing some errands. Jeep looks like hell, I still love it.
See posts 679, 680, and 681.
Please join us!
If you are in, or plan to be in, please post a message or email me or catch me online and instant message me.

Yes I have saluted ol' Stonewall today. Wish it would warm up so I could put some Zaino on him. Looked on the Jeep wedsite today. Prices on the Jeep clothing and accessories are outrageous. Still probably have to get a hat.
Should I put any bumperstickers on ol' Stonewall? How about vanity plates?
It now has a 4" Skyjacker Suspension Lift, 22x12.50 BFG AT's, 15x10 Centerline Hellcats.
I don't think there's any way I can tell you how to find your user name. I think you can register any name you want to, even if someone has already registered a name. (If I'm not mistaken, there can be several users on the same computer.)
This stuff is all new to me too. Just get someone that knows about it to help you get started. Play around a little yourself- you can't screw anything up.
When you get squared away, put me on your buddy list and holler at me when you see me online. I use my AOL screen name (email address) on Instant Message. You can look up my email address in my Edmunds profile. Jut click on "tsjay" somewhere. Lord knows it ain't hard to find a post from old tsjay! Like this one for example!

I hope this works...
To see my Jeep scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the 2001 Jeep link...
So, how close are you to Glens Falls? I've been there a time or two on business. How are things going in the CIA? I guess you can't talk about that though, or then you'd have to kill me, right?
Hey, if nothing else, email me some bigger pics of your Jeep. What's his/her name?
Later, Chef

Have you hugged your Jeep today?
Put me on your buddy list and holler at me sometime everybody.

I like your lift... looks awesome man! So what kinda flex do you get? Do you have swaybar disconnects? And how do those BFG All-terrains do, looks like you've got some snow, so how well do they grip in it? I've been trying to decide between those and Thornebirds. I do more mudding than I do rockcrawling, but my jeeps also an everyday driver so I don't want mud-terrains for road use. Got any suggestions? I'm looking at a 3" lift with 31's or 32's x 11.50.
TSJay:
You know I'm in it for a chat or two, just IM me... you've got my Screen Name right? MoviMkr615. Just give me a shout if you ever want to chat.
Now the wife's tired of the mini-van, so I'm looking at Wranglers again. Two of the three kids have their own car, so I'm not worried about having to carry them all at one time. Can't wait to trade in the van for my new Wrangler Sport.
So I'll just say it now:
To all of my Jeep buddies, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
tsjay
Have you hugged your Jeep for the last time this year?
I am deciding what car i want to buy come spring, it definately has to be a manual preferably with some balls. All classic cars are out because i need reliability and also need to drive it in the winter... and WI can get some mean winters.
How do these cars handle? More then likely i would pick up a 96 or 97... what am i going to expect to pay. How long do these things last and how many miles are too many?
Also are they safe, it seems like edmunds gives them a pretty low safety rating. I consider myself a very good driver but you always have to worry about the other person.
Is their anything to avoid when it comes to a wrangler... i mean i am not going up a Mountain or anything, do i need to get the 4.0L or can i opt for one of the 2.5's? i imagine ill be posting more questions as they come to me. Also does the soft top really suck in the winter?
thanks a bunch guys
Kajo out-
HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!
