I just purchased a left over 2013 EX-L with Navi coupe (4 cylinder) for $ 25,000.00 So 26,500 sounds okay to me for a 6 cylinder... But hammer them on price and get the best deal you can.
xboi,
If price of 22,306 includes the destanation charge of 790 then Yes this is a very good price at 1981 below invoice. Your model's invoice w dest/charge = 24,287.
You never mentioned the dealers doc fee charge very important when figuring if you are getting a good or bad deal. high doc fee charges cut into your sale price. This charge is all dealer profit and should be countered.
Subtract the dealers doc or admin fee from the below invoice number to get the real buying car sale number.

****First of all I would like to Thank Brian for all the responses and helpful hints. I purchased 2014 Honda Accord EXL from Freehold Honda in NJ for 25,500 (including destination charge) excluding TTL. I had a trade in of Toyota Corolla 2009 had 92K miles on it with good condition for which i got 7600$. I did went to Hamilton Honda who gave me price of 24,995 (including destination charge), but were offering 6000$ for my trade. Hamilton Honda were giving Life time oil change and free car wash which i think was fabulous for that price. Princeton Honda...less i talk about them is better, they gave me value for my trade of 4000$ and for the car 26,700$. Open Road Honda in NJ agreed to beat Hamilton Hondas price by 250$, so basically they were giving me Accord EXL for 24,750 (including destination), but trade in value of my car of just 3000$. So my best bet was to go with Freehold Honda, as i was getting better trade in value. I wish i didnt had this trade in or else would have surely bought it from Hamilton Honda which included Life time oil change and free car wash. I got wheel locks and door edge guard with my purchase**. **

Nice job!!!!!!!! Way to negotiate your best deal. By getting several dealerships involved help you with pricing and lead you to the best trade in value on your vehicle............................. Thanks for posting

Most if not all dealers do not like to give written quotes. they know you will shop that price around town and not come back..
Nothing wrong with emails back and forth from the Internet team or the mgr. The good dealers will tell you hey Mr Brian we will sell you this vehicle for xxx price, or our dealership can do x price if you buy it from us today. This is how you negotiate today without setting foot in any one dealership and wasting all your valuable time with dealership nonsense and lie's. . You find the best price via email or phone calls to each internet manager secure your deal then go down and close the deal.
Thats why i stress do your vehicle / pricing homework 1st, then when you start your negtiations be ready to buy that day. This lets the dealers know they will have a sale if they meet, beat, or come close to your price.. If you keep on asking a dealer give me your best price you get just that.. Garbage. Negotiate from a knowledge stand point. Make each dealership respect you. By doing this it tells dealers............ Your not a idiot buyer like the rest and they cant pull the wool over your eyes. Dont waste my time either dealers should meet my price, counter me or i'm on to the next dealership.. That should be your mind set .

tinted windows, pro package. And I have no clue what destination charge is all about but I guess it included in there?
axboi,
You have questions to ask quoting dealership. They gave you some numbers but left out very important info that makes this deal go from good to I overpaid and could have avoided this.
Destanation charge is a freight charge we all pay for delivery from the port to the dealerships that charge is 790. Find out if that was included in the 22,306 price. Then ask
How much is the pro pack............. added onto this vehicle your being charged for??
Once you know all the correct prices we can breakdown your deal.
I'm well aware of how Auto-nation sends out there prices but i'm looking out for your pockets and want to be 100% sure you get the best deal possible.
Dealers beat people or trick them into thinking everything was included in this quote until you are at the dealership and then its put on the bill off sale without mention in between all the confusion of financing and stuff being thrown at you all at once.. When you question the charge they will say This charge every consumer has to pay meanwhile your 1981 below invoice price is now just 1100 dollars below..

Brian, I did ask and he said it is everything, not a single penny after the 24k. I can trust this guy because he is a buddy of my friend that use to worked there. On the other hand, should I wait until the end of the month to close off the deal? Much appreciated!
I have a couple of points. First is that Brian is a saint. He answers the same questions over and over again. He gives straightforward advice and real numbers that really help people to make a major purchase that is unlike any other purchase Americans typically make.
The second thing is that we need to realize that sales departments dealerships are all different and have different motivations, intelligence level, and decency. So what one does for one person does not mean another will do the same for a different person. If they are unsatisfactory, then go elsewhere. You can get service at the convenient closest dealership, but buy elsewhere.
If purchase price is the only consideration--and as Accords are commodities-- it probably ought to be, then I think (though I am not certain) that high volume dealerships need to sell more cars to support the staff and advertising budgets and so are more likely to move a car, rather than play
games.
I'm hoping to get a new Accord in the next few days. I'm going to get the best price I can. I'm not going to make myself crazy doing it or second guess myself . When and if I finally buy, I'm going to post my price and dealership.
Congrats to all new Accord owners! We hope you'll take some time and post a review. Here's a link to get you there.

Again all you guys that are IM me. In NY/ NJ. Give Auto-Sport a call in Bridgewater NJ. See or call George the internet mgr. Negotiate with George to either meet or beat your best price. If Auto-sport has your model in stock you wont be dissappointed in your price or how you are treated. You could break the ice with a simple call or email to his office. Mention that I sent you so he knows he will have to do his best with his offer to earn your business. Also Mention you are a Edmunds forum member.
DCH Paramus, and Garden state Honda are worth a call to in NJ.
Hamilton and p. Miller are maybe's. latley they have been playing games.
New Rochelle, Friendly Honda and Yonkers are good dealers in NY. With Friendly and New Rochelle a high volume dealership. Doc fee's are only 75 dollars.
Bayridge honda.......... is hit or miss from month to month with there pricing.
There are 10 to 12 honda dealerships on LONG Island some better than others but you never know from month to month.
Here is a good emailed format to any dealerships Internet MGR email address. This will break the ice and start you on your negotiation numbers. If any one dealer cant answer you back with honest answers with sale pricing x them off your list and move on.
Hi Mr xxx xxx,
I am looking to buy a accord today if we could agree on a price. Accord exl , white, with splash guards and wheel locks, and trunk mat. No other option wanted. I have several offers from dealerships alot further than i want to travel but would like to give you my business being we are neighbors. I am contacting the 6 closet dealerships via email for the sale today to see if we could close this deal Now. I will travel next week to buy this vehicle if my price cant be matched or beat in my hometown.,
I will buy this vehicle from your dealership today securing the deal with a credit card deposit til I could get down to you. I have taken your doc fee's into consideration along with lowering my price to avoid traveling further than i want to go to buy this vehicle.
1600 below dealers invoice price is what gets this deal done today. This price excludes any rebates, incentives, taxes etc. Or take your models invoice price add the 790 dest/charge then subtract your offer off that price 1400, 1600, 1800, etc. For a total price. This puts both you and dealer on the same page with no confusion with pricing on your model. NONE.
leave your cell number.
Send a similar email out to the rest of your targeted dealerships. Send out 20 of these emails.. You may find 6 dealerships may not respond , 5 dealerships may say no. The rest may compete for your business..
When i buy a vehicle I do something like this on the last days of what ever month i'm buying. The only difference is I want to to talk to each internet mgr on the phone ONE ON ONE. If any dealership is not honest or full of hot air you are terminated from earning my business.
This is how you play the game with these guys.. Take my email approach... Put my words into better english of coarse...LOL and go for it. My email is direct, puts each dealership on the spot for a immediate sale and gets rid of all the fakers and dealers that dont sell cars.
Remember any dealership that says I cant do xxx below invoice. your next question is ? How close can you get to this number. Make each dealership comit to a price. Dealers that Can't answer that question with honesty or a price say good bye there not worth your time.

You have a dealer who wants this sale. Great price.......... make the deal they deserve to earn your business.
Repost your deal when completed with details of buying state, Name of dealership, and Pricing.
Axboi.... you have done well alot better than most of us in here................. enjoy your new Accord. good luck

Brian, long story short. Got a friend used to work with honda at lewisville tx, hooked it up with a friend and got OTD 24k. I told them I'll think about it. Next day, text that guy and lied that I got a deal for 23,7000 at another dealer but far. An hr later, he texted back with OTD 23,8000. 21xxx + TTL+others. Financial guy even told me I got a good deal!
sorry, too many zeros, 23,800 OTD
I purchased a 2014 Honda Accord EX CVT recently from Brown's Honda in Arlington VA. The car came with wheel locks and floor mats.
Sales Price: 21875 (includes $790 destination charge)
Tax: 890
Dealer Processing Fee: 398
Titling: 106
OTD Price: 23270
I spent 2-3 weeks researching prices. Then I made a non-negotiable offer to several dealers via email, and it was accepted here. As a result I had a pleasant and painless experience at the dealer.
Thanks to everyone in this forum for valuable tips/guidance.
I need a new car at the end of July and got a quote of $18888 for an Accord LX before Doc fee (about $100) and TTL. I'm wondering if I should go for it now, wait until the of this month, or July 4th, or at the end of next month. In addition, I expressed the option of wanting to have Leather Seats installed and they said that would be an extra $1600. I think it's a little too high, isn't it. I'm from CA Bay Area. I appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks Brian and all others for sharing your quotes and deals. I closed the deal today in Phoenix,AZ on Accord EX-L CVT with window tint, trunk tray, wheel locks and splash guards for $25,500 + TTL. The Taxes were 2100, License,Reg were like 500, Doc Fees 400..So Total was $28,500 OTD . I got the deal with 0.9% APR financing with Honda.
The dealership was Showcase Honda on Camelback. I worked with Atul Sharma..It was the best price i got from all the dealers i contacted.
@katzkin .com aftermarket leather seats. Cost alot less than what dealer wants. I would ask dealer what brand of seat your getting for 1600 dollars. Probably these seats.
Invoice price on the lx model with dest/ charge is 21,619. If your above price has the dest/charge included your sale price is......................... 2731 below dealers invoice.
Dont walk............... RUN and buy this vehicle ASAP.. This is a holy cow price.
Remember what i talked about in my earlier posts.. folks are buying a 2013 year model for almost half your price. That is unexceptable in my book.

I bought a 2014 LX today. $20,100 including destination. $75 doc fees. Luther Brookdale Honda in Minnesota.

Can someone please let me know the MF and Residual value of Accord hybrid sedan EX-L and touring, for 15k/36M for PA state.

brian125: Thanks for all of your helpful information. I do have a question for you. In your sample email, you mention “1600 below dealers invoice price is what gets this deal done today. This price excludes any rebates, incentives, taxes etc.” I understand why you want to keep the taxes separate, but why do you need to have individual dollar amounts for rebates, incentives, documentation? As long as each dealer give you a price that excludes tax, tag and title, wouldn’t that be enough to decide who is giving you the best deal?
Hi, I'm looking for a new 2014 Honda Accord LX. The dealer quoted me $18,680 before TTL. This is in DFW, TX. I asked him about OTD price. He didn't give me the OTD, just gave me the sales tax 6.25% and License $380. I replied back back asking for the OTD quote and still waiting for the reply from him. Is it a good deal? Thanks!
Yes on one part...... When you buy any vehicle your negotiate getting the lowest sale price. every dealer that sends you a email quote or e-price usually puts everything together. By you sending this kind of email lets each dealership know they cant play the numbers game with you. Incentives and rebates that you are entitled to will be subtracted off your agreed price. MY email is the best way to get a selling price where you both agree on a number... That is the hardest part when buying a vehicle .. getting that dealerships bottom line price.. Unless your state regulates dealers doc fee charges every dealer will have a different number making your otd price different, otherwise taxes, tags are standard state charged prices.
Example : Not emailing like I broke down to the dealerships. you email a dealer tell them you will buy said vehicle for 1000 below dealers invoice today if he agrees. dealer says come on down we have a deal.. You go down to the dealer when signing the buyers order you notice your sale price was only 500 below invoice price and dealer added your 500 dollar incentive to this deal making it 1000 below dealers invoice. you got suckered.. this is how dealers get over on many folks.. Understand now why my email is direct and leaves no stone unturned. Or here is another scenario..... your signing the paperwork and you see doc fee charge on the very bottom before the vehicle is totaled for 599. you ask dealer about this charge . He says OH that's doc fee everybody has to pay that.. Now your deal is above invoice price and dealer is laughing all the way to the bank with a 3500 in his pocket sale on you.
23 Telluride SX-P X-Line, 23 Camry XSE
Good price... dealer gave you almost all the otd numbers. .. You need the dealers doc fee charge. Ask dealer if there are anymore otd prices besides taxes , tags and doc fee. You should be set.

Hi Brian,
I'm looking for Accord LX 2104 in Chicago area. For now best price is $19,990 including destination fee. What do you think about this price for my area?
When I start talk about financing, dealers tell me that price will go up $500. Is that fair or just a trick to make me pay more?
Thank you.
I just closed a deal on a 2014 Accord LX CVT black/black for $19438 including destination, doc fee waived. Garden State Honda in Clifton, NJ. Ask for David (last name removed) and tell him Jan referred you.
Hi everyone. I read through the entire discussion. Very useful information.
I have an offer for $19,900 for a LX (inclusive of destination fees.) This is the LA area. I am wondering if I should go ahead or wait for July 4th sale. Any advice?
Good price make the deal..
Your making a 20k purchase any questions on pricing or if something in this deal that seems Shady you need to call the dealer out on and ASK questions why???? or how they arrive at certain numbers.. Write it down then ask me for help..
23 Telluride SX-P X-Line, 23 Camry XSE
Good PRICE.... How much was the dealers doc fee charge? 299. Very rarely will a Honda dealership waive there fee?/ I try all the time... alot wont so how you get around the dealers doc fee charge is to lower your asking price to counter that charge. Knowing each dealers doc fee charge is very important in car negotiations. A high doc fee charge of 299 to as high as 899 takes away from your negotiated sale price if you do not account for them ..
Note : You can not post last names in any of these forum...
23 Telluride SX-P X-Line, 23 Camry XSE
I apologize regarding the last name. I had no idea.
The doc fee was $369 and they argued that they couldn't take it off so I asked that they lower the sale price of the car to accommodate my request, just as you mentioned. They still didn't budge so I walked out. They said that their offer is only good until closing at 9pm. I told them I was shopping around. 8:30pm and my phone rings... they agreed to my offer.
@brian125 I wanted to check in with you on recent Civic pricing, and you said this forum would be the best place to give you a shout. I sent you a message back in March about a possible deal but the wife decided she didn't want to pursue it....well, here we are and we're looking into again! Can you give me any info on what I should aim for in a 14 Civic EX deal? I think you said price + dest was 20,390 before. Thanks!
tco2005.......... What city do you want to buy vehicle in?
This should be your target price for the 2014 civic. 1500 to 2k below dealers invoice. Not one dime below 1500 should you go.
20,390 minus 2000 = 18,390. find out if dealers in your area are giving flex cash out . No other rebates/ incentives except College and Military for 500 dollars.
23 Telluride SX-P X-Line, 23 Camry XSE
Hi Brian thanks for the information. However, apparently the invoice price of $18,680 didn't include destination and handling (after emailing them twice). The internet sales guy never answered my question regarding OTD price. I didn't know how much the destination charges and document fees are because they didn't provide me the information. The only info they gave me was the invoice of price of $18,680 excludes the destination and handling plus TTL (tax 6.25% and TL = $380). They didn't want to answer my questions about the OTD price. The dealer is David Mc. David in Irving, TX. Do you think this is still a good deal? I could ask for the destination and handling charges and docs fee, but I'm not sure if they would give me the answers.
Destination charge is the same for us all at 790 dollars. Add that price onto the selling price. making your sale price 19,470. Still a good deal at 2,149 below dealers invoice. Call dealership and ask any sales person what there doc fee charge is?. Then subtract doc's off your offer price. That would then represent your true buying sales number..

hi brian,
I have a question is this a good deal for a 2014 honda civic ex sedan $19,800 for OTD, dealer said that's the lowest they can go and they can't throw any accessories in either. Should I try to ask other dealers around cause they have a loan already made for me and everything do you think they will match it. Oh the dealer gave me the quote is pohanka of fredericksburg, i live in richmond, va so it is kinda a far drive
23 Telluride SX-P X-Line, 23 Camry XSE
THICINDY
A selling price of 18,936 that includes the destination charge. MAKE sure it does... would put you at 1454 below invoice price. So after you pay this dealers high doc fee charge of 499 makes your deal at 955 below dealers invoice price. This is a ok deal at best... You should try to bargain atleast another 500 dollars. A lot of the Edmunds buyers are in that 1500 to 2000 below invoice price area.. It might be best to get more dealerships involved in the pricing wars... There is so much competition in this field with the Elantra and Corolla being heavy discounted along with the Chevy Cruze.. The Kia forte which is a tad smaller has some good discounted pricing and comes with a great warranty..
23 Telluride SX-P X-Line, 23 Camry XSE
A lot of good dealers around you. Your target price should be closer to the 2k mark. If your willing to travel email the internet managers in VA . You will find very good pricing at Pohanka Honda. they have some of the best pricing in the country on Civics' especially if Pohanka has your model on there lot. I made a deal with Pohanka honda awhile back for a Civic for 1885 below invoice price but we chose to buy closer to CT for a couple of hundred more.
Check out Sport Honda in silver springs.......... Criswell Honda, and Joyce Koons they all have excellent deals and pricing.
4 Dealers in VA if you want to travel are : Brown, Hendricks, Fairfax, Chantilly who have been giving good deals.

Isn't this forum about the Accord?
Hi Brian - seems like lot of good deals going on with Honda right now. Do you think it is right time to buy now? or wait for a couple of months like August/September when the dealers will clear out 2014 models for 2015?
You will save a few dollars by waiting Aug/ Sept. But the savings might not be worth the wait. I would shoot for my target price and look to buy as soon as I get it.. In your case time factor is on your side for the best possible deal. with many dealerships bidding for your business.
23 Telluride SX-P X-Line, 23 Camry XSE
I agree with Brian, but want to add that selection is better now than it will be in a couple of months. If you are looking for a specific color combination, buy now.

Brian, this forum is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I can't believe I almost bought a new Accord before I found this! I am looking to buy a 2014 Accord EX-L V6 sedan in the St. Louis area. TrueCar gives me a price of $27,700 right now (no options included), but that is only $1,100 below dealer invoice (includes $790 destination, the $278 in "regional fees", and the dealer admin/doc fees are $199. Hoping to buy in the next few days since it's month-end and hoping to get a deal around $27,000 or so. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. (currently talking to West County Honda and Frank Leta Honda).
