That is exactly right it's a '62 Ford Falcon coupe. There were slight yr-to-yr changes in the grille and side trim on those. The whites look a bit wide for '62 IMO.

Definitely a W123 coupe, US model, looks like an early model as it has hubcaps where later turbo diesel models tend to have bundts, I'll guess a pre-1980 300CD.

Not sure I understand that 'language'. That Maxima is very heavy looking up front, and that odd rear window/fender treatment is, well, odd. I'll have to see one in the metal, I guess.

The rear door and C pillar reminds me a bit of the Kia Optima, if it was all the same color.

Now with more styling! Corporate grille needs to go. Hood is high and puffy, like Infiniti Q70 Taillights makes a Lexus seem restrained, headlights little better. At one time, the Maxima had really clean balanced styling. Now, just lots of different for the sake of being different. Add the floating C-pillar for the French touch, and there you go.

Nissan must put LSD in the water cooler at the design center. Seems more like the early 70s or 80s (channeling the F10?)

I saw a new Murano parked at a mall Saturday. it was, to be kind, odd. My daughter said it reminded her of the new RR (evoke?) that looked like a squished bug. Definitely overstyled.

It is almost certainly a Futura. Only a very few Sprints were fit with the six. In fact the V-8 was considered standard equipment.

My bad guys! Yes that is a Futura not a Sprint. AFAIK all Sprints came w the 260V8 but the pictured Futura is the good ole 170 CID straight six

"Overstyled" is a good way to put it. Now I know why they only teased it in the Super Bowl ad with just a brief glimpse of the racer guy getting into it. That was my favorite ad of the SB but in the light of day that's a pretty hideous design. It must've been styled by the same guys who did the Juke.

The C pillar looks exactly the same to me as Jay Leno's Sprint, however. (which is why I said Sprint in the first place because the car is virtually identical minus the badges and aftermarket wheels)

At least it has a manual tranny, that 170 needs all the help it can get! I wonder how much you have to mash the gas when the a/c compressor kicks on...

For ~$10k I'd find a 'driver' Mustang with a 289.

Air conditioning! Are you kidding; I doubt that more than 10% of '63 Falcons had it. You could probably order it on a Futura or a Sprint but not many did and Ill bet it wasn't even an option on low end Falcons.

My HS buddy had a Falcon wagon equipped w the three on the tree/ six cylinder drive train. We used it to carry our surfboard. I would move if you kept your foot in it.

On the '63 Falcon, my old car book shows that there were two Falcon series that year. There was simply the "Falcon" which was offered as just a stripper 2- or 4-door sedan. The wagon was its own series, offered as a stripper, "Deluxe", or "Squire". Then, there was the Futura series, which included a more nicely trimmed 2- and 4-door sedan, as well as a hardtop coupe and convertible. Within the Futura series was the Sprint, which according to my old car book came standard with a 260 CID V-8.

I don't know if that's right though, about the V-8 being standard. My book lists the base weight of a Futura hardtop at 2455 lb and a Futura Sprint hardtop at 2490 lb. I'd think the V-8, even the lightweight Windsor block, would add more than 35 lb of weight. The Sprint also came with bucket seats. Just having bucket seats could probably add 20-30 lb, versus a bench. But, looking at pricing, the Futura Sprint hardtop coupe was $2603, compared to $2198 for the regular Futura hardtop. $405 was a lot of money in those days, so I'd think it would include more than just the bucket seats, spruced up interior, tach, and trim. For that price, you'd think the engine would be included, as well.

That Dodge-looking thing could also be a Fargo, I guess. Chrysler used that name abroad for trucks, for awhile, as well. FWIW, Fargo and DeSoto-badged trucks are still made in Turkey. No current affiliation to the Chrysler corporation, but I've heard they're still descended, somehow.

I should have been more explicit. When the Sprint option came out it could be paired with a six. Not many of them were turned out and I think that option was either dropped or made a delete option because Ford went to advertising the Sprint as a V-8 car. My guess is that this corresponded to the '63 1/2 update.

Probably the best perspective of a Maserati Mexico. At this angle, it seems quite delicate, but neither the front or rear ends are as pretty and seen at even 10-15 degrees from profile, it looks much less graceful. Oddly, in front 3/4 shots, it looks a lot like a Jensen Interceptor

That's an Iso Rivolta GT ca.1960s. It had 327 Chevy power and Pinifarina styling.

Yipes, I think I've been caught out by Pininfarina's notorious tendency to steal from himself. Now Pf did not do very many Masers by the 60s but that sure looks like their emblem on the sides of both cars. There's avery cloae semblance in the roof lines and side grills too.

You might be right that they weren't as pretty, but they were very posh for their time

Humber from the early 1950's, either a Hawk or Super Snipe. I think they were the same body but the Hawk had a 4 cylinder and the Super Snipe a 6 cylinder engine.

Rootes Group had an assembly plant in Australia, near my current office in Port Melbourne.
