Has anyone gone this route? Seems like most on this thread found cars on lots, and then negotiated.
Seems like low 33's is a fair or good price. Not sure if these dealerships will quote me as so far I'm only emailing them back and forth. (I'm an email guy and hate driving all over to deal with car people).
Any advice?
I did all negotiations via email minus my trade. I did lots of research on what it was worth, and decided I would not take less than $6k for it. My preferred dealer gave me the $6k and they had the lowest price. Win win!
Negotiate the price of the car first, then throw your trade in. I paid $30,934 for an AWD Touring in MA. Once you factor in the add-ons (remote starter, splash guards, and wheel locks) plus taxes/reg/fees, my OTD/drive away price is just over $34k.
Most dealers have internet pricing on their sites now... I did all their quote forms, and then took the lowest quote and sent it to the others. Some said the dealer was baiting & switching, but that was not the case.

I was surprised to come here and read how much more people have paid.
Here's the numbers we have for the LX AWD:

(*all these prices include the $880 destination)
Holdback on a Honda 2% of the Base MSRP so there's another ~$494 the dealer can pass on if they choose. There must be a lot of other "rebate" money floating around for this dealer. Like $3,000 worth on the LX AWD.

I am having a hard time getting close to invoice price for the actual car cost. There are very few in our area but I did find the color I wanted.

You'd think bargaining would be easier up in MN, @mnbuyer1, what with winter being in full force and all.
@mjp8, I'm assuming that Touring models are still "rare". Check out True Market Value and try to meet or beat it (can't really say much about your deal, since we don't know your fees and taxes). Right now TMV looks to be splitting the difference between invoice and MSRP.
The dealers may get a bit freer with the deals in the next few days as the short month winds down.
looking to get a 2015 crv touring.. but not seeming to get the price i want.
little back ground, i am coming back to the states from an extended military tour, and will need a car for my new job.. i really wanted to deck it out with 10+ accessories, but that really started to add up.
1. has any one dealt with doing after market installation? seems you can save a fortune that way.
2. the lowest base price i have gotten is Sale Price:$31,681.00, then with accessories and everything OTD: 39,686.99- what is the best prices people have gotten?
3. i wanted to get Back up Sensors,Remote Start,Door Sill Trimm,Cross Bars, Running Boards, Exhaust Finisher, Rear Bumper Applique, Moon Roof Visor, Hood Air Deflector,Splash guards:, Tail Gate Spoiler, Door, Visors, Body Side Molding, and Wheel Locks- any of these not worth the money?
4. what is the best financing anyone has gotten?
looking for some wisdom, and experiences.. so far i have only dealt with the 3 dealers over e-mail and not over phone or in person (still overseas). i should get back mid-late march.
thinking about scrapping getting all the accessoreis and just going straight after market. thoughts? would an OTD of 32,300 for a Touring with all the charges be too low to ask?

Buy the touring model at the end of march... That is the end of the 1st sales quarter for all car companies. Very good deals can be had at the end of March especially dealers looking to make there monthly / quarterly sales quota/ incentives. Making the lowest price deals will come by you getting as many dealerships involved as far as your willing to travel to. Pitting one dealer against the next.

Check out these online sites below on Accessory pricing then compare to Honda's invoice price.
A lot of your desired accessories can be had for half of the dealers cost . You may be better off finding a do it all automotive store to install them for a fraction of Hondas cost.
On your model I would try to get selling dealer to installing the back up sensor and remote starter at there invoice price. The rest of your items can be done very easily at a shop for a fraction of the cost. Buying rest of items online............................ Compare prices below.

Check out USAA, both for insurance and financing, if you haven't already. They don't always the best price but sometimes they do. They also have a buying program that may work out for you, but as always, cross-check the quote you get.

i actually bank with navy federal and yeah they gave be 1.49 for 36 months which is pretty solid.. it jumps to 1.99 for 37-72 though.. i would love to get the .9 or 0% though!

The taxes and WI fees are what they are. You can doublecheck with the DMV if you don't trust your dealer, but that's not something they usually pad (probably because it's against some law or regulation somewhere?).
Be alert for paint or interior protection packages or etching. Wax and Scotchgard are cheaper to apply yourself. Since you're getting a new car, I'd skip any extended warranty offers. As you get close to the warranty expiration you can always buy an extended warranty then.
I was in the UP until six months ago and shopped CR-Vs (and a bunch of other makes) in Madison, and CR-Vs way up in Ashland. Didn't get down to Milwaukee, but my general impression is that you have a lot of good dealers statewide to choose from.
But, as you skim back in this discussion, you see that Touring models are "rare" in lots of places and dealers aren't cutting the prices on them much. Remember if you do decide to buy a Touring out of town, most local dealers will still be happy to service it (and the service side is usually run as a separate department in the dealership and they won't care where you purchased it).
Wisconsin weakened their lemon law last year and you'd no longer have that layer of protection if you purchase out of state. But you'd still have the usual "warranty" remedies.

I saw an exact Honda CR-V at a dealer that had a sticker just like Truecar.
When I look at Truecar, I see that for a 2015 Honda CR-V EX AWD:
- MSRP is $26,675.
- $ 27,675 (including destination fee).
- -Then Truecar suggests that $1205.00 off the $27,675 is a great buy. So for me, it would be $26,470 before taxes, tags...
I see that some of you are able to get the same vehicle for $25,900 before taxes. What's the trick?
Am I not able to do better because I'm in CT?

Tricks? Email for a lot of quotes. Be willing to travel a bit. Do your deal near the end of the month and say you are going to buy "today". Play the two or three best quotes off each other. If you want to finance, get pre-approved ahead of time and let the dealer beat your rate.
The easiest trick is to click on @brian125's name, land on his profile page and read a bunch of his posts.
Here's the thing: I have several dealerships close by. I'm not going to be going all over for $200-$300.

Just a side note:
I know all about the VIBRATING 2015 Honda CR-Vs.
I visited 3 dealerships.
The irony is that the dealership with ALL the vibrating CR-Vs is willing to sell for less. The other 2 that I drove that didn't vibrate because their RPM is set higher, are tougher to deal with.
The distinction that I noticed is that when the Honda is warmed up and in D, with everything off, the ones that don't vibrate are the ones with RPM never going down below 750.
The dealership with the vibrating Hondas their RPM dips below 600 when warmed up, in D, with everything shut off.
I think I solved part of the vibration issue, but Honda has to step it up and reprogram the rpm or something.
I actually spoke with the Service manager in the vibrating dealership....he's not concerned at all. I'm like whatttt?
So, the best price? No, someone one is always going to pay less than you sometime, somewhere. But you have to consider your own situation - the main thing to me is not to grind for the last dollar but not to pay more than I need to either.
I like your "it's only $200" comment. Time is money and messing around shopping a lot of dealers may save you some bucks, but over the life of the car, even an extra $500 may not be worth worrying over.
Others enjoy the give and take and will walk over that same $200.
Doing a lot of your negotiation by email helps dial in the prices without too much hassle, and you've done your "on the ground" test drives and research. The dealers should love you - your educated about the car and the process and you're ready to buy. Some dealers are still struggling with the idea of making an "easy" sale for a bit less money though. It sounds like you're close enough so that your decision may boil down to which dealer experience you like best.
(Seems like there's a few vibration complaints about some Acuras too - the idle programming is probably tied in with CAFE standards and could be a trade-off between mpg and NVH issues. There's enough complaints out there that I'm sure Honda is working on a fix).
However, having sat in a non-vibrating and vibrating CRV, I am looking a for a preferred color and one that has rpm set a bit higher. The vibrating is annoying.
If I cannot find one, I'll go with a Rav4.
I guess Truecar for my area will have to be my guide. There are NO bargains in CT. lol

Think I made a decent deal, I could have waited till end of the month, but my 2001 honda broke down (served well- 185k) and needed second one badly.
As Brian and others have advised, I email as many dealers as possible and got their internet price and told them I'm ready to buy in a day or two. Also as some have said
I did not want to bargain to the dollar, 200 - 300$ was not worth my time driving far to different dealers and the overall customer service did play a role in me choosing the dealer.
I think the key is being an informed buyer, then even the dealer appreciates that he is dealing with an informed buyer.
Regarding the vibration, I did test drive a couple and did not notice anything. Dealer said he has heard about it but so far no one has some back with the issue atleast that what he told.
Overall very happy with my 2015 CRV EXL AWD.
1) Are there any locale specific incentives? I am not able to get any dealer in Western Washington area to go below invoice by more than $300. I showed them Weymouth's prices and they claimed that incentives are specific to various areas and hence, dealers in MA are able to sell $1000 below invoice. Looking at prices being quoted in this forum, seems like folks are getting $1000-$1500 off invoice.
2) Some dealers refuse to provide any competitive price via email saying that they are not willing to lose a deal over $100 and will match any written offers. I have typically passed on such dealerships but wondering if you had any recommendations to get competitive quotes via email. I have been following the email template that Brian had posted a while ago in the Accord forum.

If you have access to a machine, maybe try faxing the non-quoting dealers; if they are old-school enough to not want to give a quote by email, maybe they still think faxes are "special" and convey a sense of urgency. Back in the day, we talked about blast faxes and I used a fax to buy a car in late '98. Stranger things have happened....
Wonder if you could find salesperson at the various dealers to work with you with text. Might be worth working the phone for an hour that way.
Went to Honda dealer for some checkups. ..nothing major at all. More like questions we had for them. I have a 2015 CRV Touring and we notice the vibration so we asked the service mgr...he said he knows about the vibration and reported it to Honda...they know about it as well. The service mgr Chris said he is pretty sure that very soon Honda will issue a service product improvement alert and Honda will fix the issue. It will not be safety recall because it is not a safety issue. So keep an eye out. I am not sure if this is true. He said he had 2 people returning the car because of the vibration.
PS. Does anyone know when 2016 CRVs will come out if there will be any changes or updates?
Unless you plan to go to area's were pricing is lower you need to concentrate on dealers in your targeted area.
Some area's dealers are not internet friendly. .... So my first scenario is pick the 4 to 6 closest dealerships. Go into each on Feb. 27th and 28th and make the best deal between 300 and 500 below dealers invoice. Negotiate and be firm just like you would online.
Another way I would play out this month is on Feb. 27th or 28 email every dealership your willing to drive to with a simply email to the internet managers.
Send this email to all your targeted dealerships.

Negotiate with all that respond. make all dealers give you doc fee's and OTD pricing .
If you feel you are good at negotiating call instead of emailing managers . Do not let dealers connect you to any floor salesman you will waste your time. Trust me. If a manager is busy leave your number and why your calling. ( I'm ready to buy a CRV today )
I plan on buying 2 Subaru Forrester's this month in either NY or NJ. Market probably sucks there but it wont stop me on the 27th/ 28th calling dealerships. I try never to initiate a sale before these 2 days.
My point being on Feb 28th those high priced selling dealerships may need final sales numbers. That's where you swoop in and steal a deal. the more dealerships you have involved on the last day of any month the better chance you have of hitting your targeted price.
If you have limited dealerships in your area........................ Advantage dealerships tap out your pinned.

hoping you could help with a few questions!
1. would 33,000 for an OTD price on a Touring AWD with Nav, Remote Start, and Back up sensors be unrealistic? So far the lowest sale price I can get on a Touring AWD with Nav is 31,400.. anyone have better luck?
2. Is it worth mentioning depreciation on the 2015's? Won't the 2016's be coming out in a few months?
3. Is this vibration thing something to be worried about? Is it that noticable? Is it like a diesel rumble?
I'm sure dealers hate it when we mention the next model year (I'm tire kicking and my wife (!) pulled that on me a couple of days ago.
Not sure what to tell you about the "rare" Touring model.
I could tell you from sitting in a vibrating one and a non-vibrating one that, to me, it makes a difference.
When I sat in the vibrating one (this only happens when you're stopped in D, with foot on brakes, and EVERYTHING shut off, no ac, lights, stereo....) at first I didn't think it was that bad. That is when the RPM drops to below 600 on some Honda CRVs. But when I kept shifting in into N, or turning the lights on, it would stop vibrating, because the RPM revved up to 1000 or so. I could see the difference.
Then I went to another dealer and drove one without vibration, and reproducing the above conditions the RPM NEVER dropped below 750, it felt nice and smooth, and I would purchase it without hesitation.
Now, yesterday I called another dealer and told the guy to take out one of my choice color Hondas and recreate the above conditions.....He called back saying that he did and NOTHING vibrated, and the RPM NEVER dropped below 1000!!!!!!!!
This is really bad. It seems that whatever Honda is doing at their plants, the vehicles are set differently because that would explain the rpm discrepancy at idling.
I wonder how many2015 Honda CR-Vs actually have the vibration. I would think that many test drive or drive (already purchased)their Hondas with heat, ac, radio...something ON. Once the weather breaks in some parts of the country I think more people will be coming forward. In my region March, April may be that perfect weather, so more people will drive with NOTHING turned on.
I would love to get a Honda CRV, but may have to go with a Rav4. I will be testing Hondas in the next couple of days, so more to report....

My understanding from what I have read is that the problem does not occur / can be alleviated simply by turning on the headlights. More load on the engine from the alternator, the RPMs go up a hair, no more vibration.
To me, this does not sound like a big deal at all.
