You nailed it Shifty, it's a 1963 Sunbeam Harrington "LeMans, a rare bird, as you say. I didn't know that the upper body was 'glass.

Thos. Harrington Ltd. was an old line British firm that expired soon after producing the LeMans.

I'm not sure about the fiberglass--that might have been only on the race cars. It's a bit murky or I'm a bit murky :)

You might be confusing those w the Cobras that ran @ LM around the same time using fiberglass tops.>

Definitely looks like a '70s BMW.. Not sure those are stock seats, though.. Might have come from a later model. (notice the knob on the door, that you can see through the steering wheel spokes... that's for opening the vent window).

I'll guess a 3.0 CS, just because of the sporty seats..

Good guess, it's a 1975 BMW 3.0CSi, the fuel injected version of the CS. This one has been modified to look like the 3.5CSL, the racing version of the CS, sometimes known as the "Batmobile" for it's aero appendages.

The Subaru dealer where we picked up the Outback last weekend has a Subaru 360 in the showroom. I'll try to remember to get a picture of it when I drop the car off on Friday for the clear bra and tinted window installation.

I surely wish I'd sprung for the clear bra for my last 2 cars(hindsight being 20-20).

Today's paints are so fragile, my cars look like they've been sand blasted.

Not Subaru of Plano, is it? They have one on the floor, too.

So much for trying to blot out the plate and logo. :)

I was pretty excited to see it; wasn't until I got home and downloaded the pics that I noticed it was a 5 door hatch with no sliders.

Some sort of Toyota is right but bonus points for the actual manufacturer.

Actually, I cheated. The picture quality is good enough for me to read the dealer sticker to the right of the obscured plate.

No idea who Toyota partners with around the globe.

Sorry, not quite right. Actually not a JDM Toyota as I may have led you to believe by agreeing with @Michaell that it's a Toyota.

    MDM - Mexican domestic market?

It does have that design flair that Toyota is known for lately.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
I don't think Mexico is its main or intended market, although it's not a gray market car in Mexico either.
  • robr2robr2 Member Posts: 8,805
It is an Avensis though. I thought the MPV was called the Verso. So is it the British made Avensis?

Not according to the infallible Wikipedia. :D

It's a Toyota Avanza, a mini MPV designed by Daihatsu. "In addition to Indonesia and Malaysia, the Avanza is sold in Philippines, Thailand, Brunei, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Mexico, Peru, Egypt, and various other African countries."

Pretty fun sighting - I suspect I made the driver nervous taking photos as we were cruising up the road.

Now that is a car to lust after. DS convertible from mid 1960's. The most desirable Citroen DS and now worth a fortune. Somewhere I have book which details the DS (idolizes might be a better description).

I still think they are really cool, in a manner no modern car has achieved

It's an interesting build because they start with a 4-door car. The Citroen DS immediately rendered every other car in the world obsolete, at least in terms of its vision for the future. It brought the automobile into the modern era and is still regarded by some historians as the most impressive car of the 20th century.

And we have a weiner! A tofu weiner....

This Tesla was built for Leilani Munter, an American race car driver and environmental activist. (She got a Tesla in 2013, not sure if this is the same one or if she's getting a new one).

IIRC all of the Citroen DS drop tops were built by Chapron, most likely off chassis supplied by Citroen. Henri Chapron was an old line coachbuilder that faded quickly after the 60s but survived long enough to build a few decapotable versions of the fabled Citroen SM.

Decapotable is a French way of saying convertible but I think translated literally it means "removable head".

Yup that's exactly what it is and the vibrant color scheme shows how the right colors can transform a dowdy looking car. They don't paint 'em like that any more.

I think it is the Soviet version of the Jeep, but cannot remember the name. However I think there was some common ancestry from the second world war and possibly a US engine design.
