    Both Trans Am Depot and Lingenfelter are offering kits to convert the current Camaro to various generations of the Trans Am and the former also offers a kit to make a GTO.

    I know some will bash me for this, but you have to admit the T-Tops work on it. I bet with todays tech, they had to have fixed the leaking problem from models past. I bet it would be a popular option if it was available on the Camaro.

    It is still titled as a Camaro, but I think you can have it retitled as a Trans Am, but has to keep the Chevrolet Manufacturer on the title. As for the price, you have to pay the extra over the price of the Camaro too and they run around $65k total (kit & car) to start.

    IIRC, the majority of the problems with T-Tops was the structural rigidity of the car itself rather than things like the design of the seals or the gap tolerances. For instance, from what I recall, Nissan offered the T-top option in the Datsun 240 all the way up to the 300 ZX and there was no problems with structural rigidity and body twist. But I did have a friend with a 300ZX TT that his T-Tops suddenly never fit right after owning it for years. But he took that thing to the NE Dragway a few times and I'm sure it had it's share of flogging in the corners as well...

    But with the growing interest in weight savings, it may be A. too costly to engineer the car to overcome the body twist or B. the weight of the glass or the effects of the glass on the cG of the vehicles is not worth the effort.

    IMO, the T-Top thing is a fad that will remain in the history books...

    Now with that, I'll be VERY curious about the structural rigidity of Teslas new Model X with the Gull Wing Doors and whether that design will see the same issues as traditional T-Tops.

    Some current cars have convertible in mind when designed. A CamaroBird might be ok with T-Tops.

    Not new, but I think I saw about 15 Teslas today on my ~4 mile jog. It was like there was a convention in town.

    It's kinda weird that I see more Teslas when out on a typical outing than I do new Ford Tauruses.

    I guess with the size of some counties here, you could end up in Yakima or Spokane and see more.

    Today saw a nice C450 with a 60K MSRP and a high option C63 with 86K MSRP.

    As you might guess from looking at this Tesla Distribution Map, most of them reside in heavily populated metro areas. Surprised to see Atlanta stepping out. Also surprised to see so few in groovy uber-rich Boulder.

    Tesla doesn't have to worry so much about leaking roofs. Tesla has to worry about making a profit for the first time.

    well, we can say that most who have chosen to report themselves to that website live somewhere near a heavily populated metro area. I see MANY in my neck of the woods, which is 1 hour from both NYC and Philly. Certainly way more than the few people who reported to that website. Maybe those in uber-rich Boulder just have better things to do than give their info to some website dude. haha.

    Hard to say what's going on. In some uber-rich, ultra green communities, it's not cool to be too ostentatious. You drive a humble Subaru but fly off to a one-month luxury tent trek in Mongolia.

    re: Jaguar F Type -- what I really like about the car is how it sounds, especially the "R".

    Not surprised by that map, I feel like I live near Tesla HQ sometimes, I see at least a dozen of these a day now. On a per capita basis, this area has to be among the top. I see a lot of greenie rich aging techie types who sure as hell love to show off a bit. Time to end those undeserved tax breaks.

    I am most surprised to see central FL so high, but then again with a largeish population and a banana republic style socio-economic structure, there is a decent enough sized group at the top who can pull it off I guess.

    I see tons of new kias. They come into Philly now (the transport ships) and the storage/prep lots are right down by the river, under one of the bridges. They are spreading down there like Kudzu. I have no clue how they keep track of them all, but they have to keep scraping together more parking for them all.

    cool site coming over the bridge, looking down on 1,000s of cars still with the while plastic on them.

    Zoom in and you can see exactly where the Tesla is. I was surprised that the 1 one in my town was listed as being at a Shell station.

    Well, the Hanford facility is there and nuclear workers get paid pretty well. But I was thinking more of the nerd factor, which is through the roof.

    I think some large companies have locations there, wikipedia probably lists it. An old school friend of mine lives there - he can work from home, and his wife works at Hanford. The house they bought for 300K would be 1MM++ where I live, which was a key motivator - not a bad place to raise kids.

    When I worked at the facility I got a yellow tee shirt with a purple radiation symbol that said "In case of a power failure, stand next to me; I glow in the dark." I heard that if you wore it to work you would be fired. Never tried it, but 35 years later I still have the shirt.

    Oh Fin; at least when I was there it was indeed a great place to raise kids. Unfortunately, there were about 3 guys for every girl and I didn't make the cut.

    For people who worked at the main facility in the past, there were many problems yes - it is public sector after all, you'll run into ineptitude and a lack of accountability, as people in charge effectively can't be fired. But the facility is huge and employs a lot of people. It will probably never really be cleaned up or out of operation.

    Affordable housing can do a lot if you can find a good job. I could deal with living in eastern WA, as I spent a bit of my youth there and I generally like the climate. The Seattle-Bellevue-Redmond style jobs aren't easy to find there yet though.

    I spent a bit of my childhood in Moses Lake. It was a good place for kids at the time too. Maybe not as great now - lots of gang/drug activity there. Still afforable housing anyway.

    I am in a small western WA town now, no new cars here, but I saw a new Ducati Scrambler of all things yesterday.

    Today - new facelift Accord, CX-3 that looked like it would fit inside the Graf Zeppelin Q7 behind it, S550 coupe, C450 on the road, and a BMW S1000R - not the RR, but the more upright R, which I like a lot.

    In the obscure sightings column, I actually saw an Isuzu Axiom over the weekend as well. I remember thinking how odd and over the top futuristic it looked when it came to market, now it just looks cheap and outdated.
