    Congrats, @roadburner!

Was this new or a BMW demo?
It's not a demo; a friend of mine at the dealer leased it and then hurt his back and the seats no longer fit him well(he's on the tall side). I assumed his lease. I have 22 months and a bit over 19,000 miles left. It's a much better deal than I could have obtained because at the time of the lease I didn't have my 90 days in(to get a full discount) and I wasn't a current BMW Financial Services customer. He paid the $500 assumption charge and I reimbursed his upfronts: $1,900. $1,050 of that are MSDs which I will get back. The monthly payment is $105. I normally wouldn't lease but that was just too good to pass up.
    That's crazy!  Enjoy it

@roadburner - I was checking out various models on bmw's website and noticed they no longer offer the diesel on the X5? Anything particularly interesting to that (i.e., influenced by Audi/VW's woes)?

For the short time we had it, I really enjoyed our X5 35d, and the current model offered some really impressive fuel economy.

Okay, here's my second punch of the year- a 2016 i3 REX. It's a Tera loaded with every available option. Mrs. RB loves it, and I like it a lot as well. It's seen here getting a full charge before the journey to its new home:

    @roadburner - very nice. Congrats!

@corvette - the punches seemed to have slowed down recently. Where are we for the year, and how are the punch guesses lining up?

All is quiet with the fleet at casa de Michaell. The Jetta is creeping up on 1300 miles, the MINI has just over 26000 and the Outback, 16000 and change. Everything is running fine and there are no complaints.

Yeah, I have one of those, too! Well, I have the high-wheel one, but same thing. I use it for mowing along the driveway and the ditches in our cul-de-sac. Sometimes I even mow the neighbors' "lawns." LOL Perhaps a longer story than I should begin.....

@roadburner - your expertise on BMW's could serve us well in the BMW lease discussions.

I've already passed along your comment about having to replace RFT's with RFTs or BMW will charge the lessee for the difference to a customer asking about the tire replacement warranty.

    @roadburner.
    Congrats!

Alright folks, TJC78 is going into the unknown and looking to lease a small car.  Budget $200-$215 with just first payment down.

Looking like the Corolla S and Elantra SE (2016s) are at the top of my list.  I've got the 04 listed in a forum and will post on CL over the weekend, I'd like to get it sold quickly (registration due end of Nov).  I'm going for 3K and will take $2500.

I'm not going to be able to make a deal before the end of October so I hope that numbers don't get worse for November.  @Michaell as soon as you have numbers for either the Elantra or Corolla for November please let me know.

Am I missing anything?  I'm sure I could do a Jetta, but not really a fan and I'm just not seeing those type of payments on much else.  What do the experts say?

Toyota residuals are good until the end of the year - what trim level?

Lease term and miles per year?

While we can't predict what will happen to the numbers next month, we don't expect much of a change - generally, MF and residual move in the same direction, if they move at all. New programs start Tuesday but it may be a day or two before we get them.

You might be able to get a Civic LX for that payment - they've got a pretty high residual, compared to other models.

Have you considered a Kia? Nissan?

My Jetta would have been about $210/mo with tax without the costs of the previous lease rolled in. But, not sure there are any 2016 Jettas left out there.

And, 2016 inventory is shrinking. If you aren't picky about color, good deals are out there.

You should start test driving those that you're interested in. I had a Corolla rental and didn't like it, so I ruled it out.

Elantra is a much nicer car IMO. And from your history, if I had to pick one for you, it would be that one. Correct that the Jetta can be had cheap right now, but much different feeling car.

actually, for not much more money ($20 month ish?) you can get a Sonata over an Elantra. Just sayin!.

not thinking of any other good options. Sentra is a dog. Can get a Focus pretty cheap if you like them. Cruze may be had cheap and is a "big" small car.

but factoring in everything, and wanting cheap, Elantra hard to beat.

I got a Hyundai sales guy I love, and the dealer is the Edmunds price promise one, but that is over in NE Philly (Faulkner) so certainly not as convenient as going to Turnersville (though I noticed they now pack all their cars with fluff like mop and glo with an add on sticker). Or just walk to Toyota dealer if you prefer the Corolla (which is really not a bad little car).

The Corolla would be an "S Plus" most likely. 36/12 or even 36/10.

Elantra same terms, I'm thinking SE.

@stickguy The Elantra does seem like the favorite at the moment, but aside from the front (which affects almost everything these days) the Corolla is appealing to me. The S is the way to go, from what I can see.

If I was getting a Hyundai, I'll start with Burns as that is where the Genesis came from and my Buick (next door). My old sales person from when I was driving Toyotas is now at Holman on 73, but I will certainly have it serviced at the close dealer!

Thanks for the input, I need to get out next week and drive both and I'll report back. I'm thinking of walking the lot Turnersville auto mall to look at every thing Sunday if the weather is good.

    Assuming AT for both:

    2017 Elantra SE - .00077 and 59% / 60%. $1500 lease cash.
    2016 Corolla S Plus - .00079 and 61% / 62%. No information on incentives

so, update on my son and his quest for an A3. Working with dealer in Ct., decided he wanted the loaded model. But, the only one in his color (monsoon gray over chestnut) when under deposit before they could swap for it. But, looking at other options, kid decides that it looks even better in Cosmos blue. And they find an in transit unit in that color combo, equipped exactly the way he wants it, allocated to Freehold Audi. Alas, that dealer refused to swap it. So, options now are take a 2nd choice color (interior, meaning black) or wait.

he decided to get what he wants exactly, so put in a factory order (basically just speccing out one of their allocation units), that should arrive in Jan/Feb range. Which makes more sense anyway, since his leased car does not have to go back until 2/19. If his ordered car is not in, can extend the lease, or borrow my spare.

More financially prudent too. Just going to kill him to have to wait!

good news though, this means that our plans for Thanksgiving week when he is home (we both have the whole week off) of test driving cars is back on, since technically, he is still in the market!

We had an 08 Elantra (was my wife's) and I really never minded driving it.  It always felt a little small but compared to everything I always drove that is a given.  I'm about 150 lbs less than I used to be and my Grand Marquis just feels gigantic anymore.  We don't need a huge SUV and huge car at this point.

Smart to wait for exactly what you want. Around the 2nd month it gets hard to wait though. What kind of deposit do they want for the order?

He's going to love this car.

The 2017 Elantra is miles better than your '08, I'm certain.

After 3 years in my Elantra GT, I just wasn't interested in another Elantra, no matter how good the deals were.

Admittedly, I didn't really test drive much before landing on the Jetta. I liked it, and the dealer made a way more aggressive offer than I was expecting, even factoring in the charges I had on my E-GT.

I know @breld was disappointed, as we had planned to do some test driving together when I was in the market.

Perhaps I'll hold out until the end of the lease this go around. I really like my Jetta, and could see myself upgrading to a Sport or GLI next time around ... or, if the budget allows, an A3.

Or, if I'm still working from home, perhaps go carless and just use the Outback.

congrats on the losing. I just finally got motivated, and am down about 35 (which is plenty to get me where I should have been all along).

The new Elantra is worlds different than the old one. Much roomier, and drives way better. First time I sat in one I thought it was a Sonata at first, just not quite as enormous inside.

I just looked at the supply of Corollas up at Holman. Pretty well equipped for the money (even with my required moonroof), but I see what you mean about it having the "corporate face" now.

Yeah, agreed. If you're going to buy a car, always get exactly what you want! You will most likely enjoy it more and keep it longer. And, in a way, I think waiting for it makes you appreciate it more when the wait is over. ;)

Exactly, unless, of course, some bad driver in a Lexus RX350 spoils all the fun and ruins the custom ordered car you waited 3 months for 4 months later! : :disappointed:

is it my imagination, or is this actually a pretty good buy? from a quick search, easily the cheapest 2012 and with lower miles.

Sales lady at the Porsche dealer just called me to let me know another salesman is working on selling that truck. And she asked me if I would like to put down a deposit. I told her they are so grossly overpriced that there is no way I am interested in the vehicle without them getting real on it, and if they have a sucker willing to pay that kind of money, they should definitely take it. She said she will let me know in the morning if it is sold. I was planning on going to test drive in the afternoon.

C300 is cheap. Maybe something "wrong" that wasn't reported to Carfax?

    Another update on the GTI:
Volkswagen will not be reopening the fuel economy issue, they're standing by their QTM assessment that the fuel system is a complicated system and that the MFI is the accurate reporting of fuel economy.

They're still considering my buyback request, though I expect it'll be denied. I let them know that if the claim is denied I'll be retaining a lemon law attorney to work through this further.

What a way to ruin an ownership experience.

Bizarre. Does the distance to empty work correctly? I think it's typical for companies to dig their heels in and deny anything is wrong.

That could be it---maybe some paintwork that isn't showing well or some such...or a smoker's car, doggie car, etc.

    Maybe the color?

CARFAX looks good---it's an East Coast car, which we folks on the West coast always sniff at a bit.

I've never looked - but likely not.

I just do not understand how they can make the argument that the computer is more accurate than hand calculating fuel economy. It just does not make sense.

I've submitted a preliminary intake form to a lemon law attorney here in Seattle.

They can still redeem themselves if they agree to do a buyback. Maybe they don't want to do a buyback for fuel economy reasons, but can do one for the other slew of transmission issues you've been having.

I'm not expecting it. I think they'll deny it.

@28firefighter - man, this continues to get more and more frustrating. Something like the calculated fuel economy shouldn't be a question at all - very straightforward.

Best of luck - unfortunately, VW (and the dealership) doesn't fully realize the impact your experience has on the buying population, what with you being active on this forum and all!

They will on Monday if I hear anything other than "we are replacing your vehicle."

For whomever asked for a punch list update, we're at 33 for the year counting roadburner's latest. henryn guessed 33 punches and was also the high bid, so if nobody else buys anything, he'll be dead-on.
