Another quick update. I've been diagnosed with histoplasmosis. It is treatable with anti-fungals. However, two hours after the first dose my body had a massive immune response.  My fever hit 108.5 last night.

The docs spent all day today figuring out a plan and they're confident that won't happen again.

    I really hope not.

    Yikes that's dangerous level temp.

Holy Fahrenheit, FF!  I have never heard of someone having 108+ Temp.  I understand those high fevers can affect the brain cells.  Terrible situation, FF.  I'll be praying for a speedy recovery every chance I get!

    28firefighter,
How did you get histoplasmosis? Its is treatable. Are you receiving amphotericin? High fever like that can lead to seizures. Get well soon.

I'm with you Mike, I never heard of a temp that high. Like I said before I've got to get out from under the rock I've been under.
@28firefighter, get out of there NOW and that's an order !!! And I can give them since I've been here longer than you.

    Now that is NICE.

I should have gotten that color (Hyundai called it Parisian Gray), instead of the old man's charcoal gray that I got.

Given that car is still in your driveway, I take it you're not going to dinner with us tonight to celebrate. :@

Nice, used car bargain. I think these might be something to pick up in a couple more years when depreciation has more of an effect. As many will be used by older drivers who don't abuse their cars :)

Hey, whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? You'll be like Superman now! 108 is insane, never heard of that before. Get well, that you are on here is a good sign. How did you get that, do you go hiking or camping?

I like the side view intakes in the front valance and I like how the headlights flare into the fenders with a set-back. The full frontal take some getting used to--I think it's that zig-zag in the front grille that's a bit odd to my eye.

Thanks Will. Yes, Atomic Silver. It has been available on the ES and the GS for 2 or 3 years, but 2016 was the first year it was available on the LS. Pictures really don't do it justice. Black interior by the way.

Thanks for all the other nice comments from everyone.

JM, I don't know how you have lasted 50 years of dodging around the dining room and avoiding those two handed skillet slashes. You must be a spry old coot. I hope you and the Mrs. have a great time tonight. Congratulations !

Driver we actually had a Rebel. Bought new in 1956, I think. It was that exact color, pink and gray. It was my mom's car and we only had it for about a year or less because her next car was a 57 Mercury Monterey. I honestly don't think my dad ever set foot in the Rebel, much less drove it.

Hang in there FF28. It is good that you finally got a diagnosis. You'll be on your feet in no time.

Shifty, I agree on the grill. It is not as bad as some of the other Lexi, but still too many sharp points and angles.

Horzontal stripes were with the red C250. That looks like a young guys car! So does your Mustang. The E400, not so much. I'll try to get a picture soon. The only one's I have have me in it, and I am not going to do that again.

Thanks, you missed a great dinner.

About the dining room table thing, no one can say I don't have staying power. Having been blessed with some pretty good speed doesn't hurt either.

Both of our sons took us to my favorite mom and pop Italian restaurant not too far from us. Even Mrs. j and our sons like this restaurant. So everyone was satisfied. A little upscale, not crazy, and worth every penny. Real table cloths and real napkins (serviettes, I think @driver100 calls them) water on the table, that kind of place. Not quite like the steak house @abacomike takes his family but still a very nice place. Yeah, you really screwed up not taking my invite and you would have gotten a little taste of Mrs. j. I'll explain.

Only I could almost mess up a great occasion like our celebration tonight. Here goes:

We all get to the restaurant just seconds apart so we all walk in together. Reservations were made and both of my sons make sure they go in ahead of us. They grab the hostess and tell her they want the check. She says she will tell our waiter. OK, no surprise, I knew they were treating.

    Some of the conversation:

Son #1: Great, they still have shrimp cocktail as an appetizer so I know I'm getting that. You guys can get what you want but I know where I'm starting this meal.

This place has exceptionally good shrimp cocktail. Nice size and there are 6 of them.

Mrs. j: You don't have to do that. Dinner is more than enough.

Son # 2: Don't worry. This is your night. I'm getting it too.

In fact everybody is getting it. We finish our appetizer and as usual there are several conversations going on.

Mrs. j (talking to me): That was good. I don't have to ask if you liked it.

Me: You're right. In fact, I'm thinking about getting another one. I'm not buying.

Mrs. j (in a raised voice): DON'T YOU DARE.

Son #1: Don't you dare what?

Mrs. j: Nothing, don't worry about it. That's between your father and me.

Son #2: C'mon we're all family here what's going on?

Even our DIL's are now curious.

Mrs. j: Ask your father, I don't want to talk about it.

Me: All I said was I was thinking of getting another shrimp cocktail.

I was only kidding but now it seems to have become a big deal.

Son #1: I guess I'm in the right family. I think I want another one too.

Mrs. j: See what you started?

    Me: I was only kidding.

Son #1: I'm not kidding. Let's get one and split it 3 ways.

DIL #1: What about us? (pointing to Mrs. j and DIL #2)

Son #1; Fine we'll get 2 and you girls can have the other one.

It turns out the girls were kidding so we only got one more and split it. 2 for each of the guys.

Man, not the best way to start off a great dinner. But, we recovered nicely, and the rest of the meal was just as good as the appetizer.

Like I said @houdini1, you missed a great meal and a side show too...staring the @jmonroe family. B)

Every time I read one of these stories from JM, I picture an episode from "I Love Lucy", but with Dean Martin instead of Dezi Anraz, as Lucy's husband. These stories are so realistic, at times I can even picture driver playing the part of Fred Murtz. :D

Hmmmmm, Fred Murtz? Well they both like striped shirts. :D

That is the last time I am going to wear a striped shirt! :(

Guys, thanks for your comments about my latest tale (except you, @iluvmysephia1 :@ ). My tales are written from how I feel at the time I write them. I guess I can get carried away at times but I'm really only giving the highlights. Don't want to leave anyone with questions about what was going on.

Mrs. j, for the most part, knows my ways. Then when she thinks she has me down pat, she finds out I'm serious. Like when I decide to buy a car that I don't need.

Life is no fun when your mate is convinced she is a know-it-all. B)

I love the stories.  I so wish my son (and daughter) have the relationship you have with yours when they get older.    Not a day goes by I don't miss my dad and Grand pops.

Didn't know you lived in Raleigh, pensfan. My nephew is chief of cardiology at Wake Hospitals in the Raleigh area and of course he lives in Raleigh. If you really ever need a superb interventionist cardiologist, graduate of Harvard Medical School, give me a shout out.

Oops, just noticed that you are not at home, from your post. Oh well, if you do need cardiology help while visiting Raleigh, you know where to go.

No, Pittsburgh is home....just a frequent visitor to the area for work though it's one of the places we would consider moving in the future. Similar or better cost of living than Pittsburgh and no snow.

However if I ever need a cardiologist, and I hope I don't for a long time, I will keep him in mind.

I like all the "dining" stories we tell.  Business dinners can always be a blast.   I remember one night at show getting stuck with near $1000 Mortons bill.  I thought for sure I was going to get blasted for that one.   Luckily I wasn't.   This was the same trip I ended up rooming (booking error) with the owners son.  The expenses charged to the room were staggering.  I didn't care the company paid and I got the Marriott points.

Catching up from a week traveling for work and a weekend of traveling LL games.

@houdini1 - Great looking car, congratulations on the punch...that's a very elegant and clean car.

@28firefighter - Now that they have a diagnosis hopefully you start the road to recovery. Hang in there and know that we're all pulling for you.

@jmonroe - congrats on the milestone! Just noticed your from Pittsburgh..if you like Italian I'd recommend Alla Familgia for your next special occasion. Well worth it.

Every time I see one of those Rivs, I think of the movie "Road House" with Patrick Swayze.

His character owned a Mercedes SEC-class, but he'd always buy and drive that vintage Riv with the clamshell headlights when he got to a new town. Much easier to repair, given that his car was vandalized almost every night.

The 65 Riviera's were wonderful cars! They were fast and nimble and in my opinion one of the nicest looking cars ever produced! The Gran Sports would outrun just about anything but they sucked premium gas like nobody would believe!

Oldfarmer wanted to see my "old man's car" for some reason....I think so he can feel like a young man with his Mustang. I am posting mine, so you have to post yours OF.

That's a handsome car as are you driver100. I'm not sure where you got the idea that I was calling your car an old man's car. I was responding to houdini1's comment about HIS car being for an old man's. Your car looks very much like a sports car. Nice.

Oh you wanted a picture of MY white car? Here you go:

I'm not well versed in the various MB letter designations so it's hard to recognize the different models on the road. So a few weeks ago when I saw a MB with a roofline profile similar to a newer Mustang I wondered what it was. Anybody care to offer a guess?
