    Audi dealership sales people are reporting that, yes, they are adding ADM to the sticker of new TTRS reaching lots these days. Some are reporting $8K over MSRP. I'm of the firm opinion MSRP is the highest price to pay for a car.

    In Diamond Beach NJ... seeing lots of new iron. 3 Teslas (1 Sedan, 2 of the SUV looking thing).   The highest concentration of Yukon Denalis anywhere, I swear there must be at least 6-8 in eyesight.  Parked next to temp tagged black on black Explorer Sport.   Sharp.

    I saw a brighter red Tesla S P70. Tesla's are almost a dime a dozen down here. I've seen several Focus RS' too.

    Golf R and Focus RS are pretty rare though, but not quite as rare as a TTS/TTRS.

    New white Rolls-Royce cabrio today, driven by a somewhat older guy in an amusingly blue suit jacket. It was likely the same one I saw a few weeks ago. Belle Epoque.

    I'd need about hands to count the Teslas I see every day. Such a bold daring individualist choice.

    On the positive side I don't see Tesla vehicles merging on the freeway at 45 MPH, or camping out in the left lane at the speed limit or less as much as Prius owners seem to do.

    I also saw someone using one at the local 1/8 mile drag strip; which is perfect for a Tesla's strengths.

    I like Teslas. I just don't want to be subsidizing someone who pays $100K for one.

    Saw a TTS today, and my second C-HR, which is less offensive in person as the ones I have seen have been dull colors. I notice the ad copy for that sculpture of aggressive beige is as filled with hyperbole and almost snarky exaggeration as every other Toyota ad.

    I saw a C-HR today also, painted red except for the roof panel, which was white. It almost looked like a circus vehicle.

    The one I saw today was solid white. It blended in with all of the other overstyled CUVs on the road.

    C63s base price is 75K. Of course, everything is optional, but nobody pays MSRP.

    For reference, my old 1998 C43 AMG had a MSRP around 53K.

    Technically, the C isn't the lowest, nor is the 3-series, but you get where I'm going here.

    That C63s is based on a pretty weak starting point, then overdone. Big V8 in a small coupe is overdoing it. The M3 is a highly developed version of a good starting point. The V8 Audis in small bodies were overkill, too, in my opinion.

    Apart from that, I saw a new c300 coupe the other night. Good looking car.

    I don't think it is a weak basis either. For something like that, you are really paying for the engine/suspension tuning and badge more than the basis car, anyway.

    Upcoming facelifted E coupe also looks impressive.

    There's a Mclaren in orange/black that goes to my gym, I've seen it a few times. Very beautiful car and color. Not sure which model, I will have to look harder next time, as well as take a picture. Recently for the first time I saw the driver arrive in it, he was fairly young, probably not over 40. And I didn't realize the doors are sort of gull wing but hinge at the front rather than the top, so open more upward and forward.

    Up here they are going with the name for that used in other markets, "Qashqai". The TV ads for it make the name sound like "cash cow".

    A Prius Prime in a parking lot. My son pointed it out. Heck, I didn't even know about that model! Looks better than the regular Prius. Unusual curvature of rear end and rear window.

    Sat in a new Camry. Noticeable change from the old model. Also sat in 2018 sonata. Not very noticeable changes.

    Went for a short walk, saw a new Camry parked on the street, my first sighting in the wild. Rental spec LE - literally, it was a rental, with ACRISS barcodes on both rear door windows, and a "learn more" QR code sticker. Interestingly, it was a Japan-built car.

    I'm surprised they sent any of these early ones to the rental fleets. Wonder if it is for feedback since they tend to mile up quicker? The Pacific coast will often get Japan built vehicles, but I guess I didn't know the Camry was built there any longer. Kind of big dimensions for many countries. Although I suppose they sell in the Mideast and parts of Europe. The latter would be cheaper shipping wise from the States, but probably capacity limited at NA plants.

    I read an article that said retooling the main US Toyota factory to produce the new model is a very involved process. Not sure why it would be more complex than any other manufacturer but that was the reason the early models are coming from Japan. That surprised me for the same reasons you cited - I assumed Camry was mostly a N.A. model.

    Yeah, NA likes big somewhat dull things with trunks. Via dashcam videos I see Camrys in Oz and Russia, neither of which surprise me, so there might be demand enough for some other production. I noticed the Japan link through the VIN on the barcode, and double checked it with the VIN near the A-pillar. For all I know, there could be some trickery where the "J" VIN doesn't mean made in Japan. I was surprised to see it in rental use so quickly, although as was said, it would be a good real world testbed.

    Today spotted a C63 convertible, and not new but rare - a Q70 LWB, the answer to a question asked by nobody on this continent, and probably neck and neck with the RLX in sales.

    I've seen an RLX at least, the Infiniti if I did I didn't realize it

    Re: the Infiniti, it is subtle but noticeable, reminds me of a Dachshund or centipede.

    It might make a decent used value, if they hit the real market and aren't all expensive lease returns. The late 00s era RL seems like some bang for the buck.
