Maybe. They only made (just guessing here) around 18,000--20,000 of them, but Jeeps have a pretty good survival rate. That yellow is a very popular color for Jeepsters, for some reason. It really seems to show the car off the best. They don't look good in dark colors IMO.

My MIL sold it after her husband passed; possible it was refreshed for the other pic.

I'm not sure I've ever laid eyes on a Jeepster that wasn't yellow/black.

Did a search on 'EPi Turbo', up popped a 1987 Suzuki Jimny.

I knew it was a Suzuki. Looks like a samari hardtop.

Suzuki was kind of a strange perturbation in the US car market. For a short while Suzuki dealerships seemed to be springing up all over the place. Then within a few years they seemed to be dissolving all over the place.

Yup, it's an '88 Suzuki Jimmy EPI Turbo. The EPI Turbo was a JDM model never officially exported to the USA. I'm a fan of the Jimmy and the Samauri because small size is an asset for off-road work. In general I wonder why the Asian makers haven't taken on the hot-selling Wrangler directly since the days of the FJ40 LC. Surely there's a market for a reliable off-roader of modern design.

I saw a post from a Suzuki Jimny owner who called his car "Chimney, for obvious reasons..."

The Samurai was a credible off-roader, although it didn't look like it. It was just horribly underpowered. A Toyota 22RE slips in pretty easily I'm told. It didn't get a lot of love because of the engine and looking like your little sister drives it. Rather mini in the macho. B)

I remember test driving one when first came out. don't remember much speed happening.

I think it was only 1.3L. No wonder the off-road folks mostly (but not all) hated it.

I saw it on Hemmings earlier today, so I'll refrain.

stick got the model but not the year

they made these long enough that I have no idea how to tell the year apart. Didn't they go up to 1965 or something crazy like that?

It's nearly impossible to tell an exact MY on those, it's a '61.

Oh, I thought it was the '63 on Hemmings. I see now it is not. Same color though.

One of my favorite cars. These cars are fun to drive and tough as nails and really easy to work on.

The PV544 ran from 1958 to 1965 (some sold as 1966 models). Between the PV444 and PV544, Volvo made a boatload of these cars, well over 400,000 of them.

I'm going to go with a '77 D-100. Reminds me of a work truck I drove that year.

    Front Row - '46 Cadillac, '47 Chevy, '56 Ford.
Texting while crossing the street back then? Nah, no way.

57 Ford behind the 46 Caddy on left.

It was a tuffy until I saw the grill!! And the 100 on the side.

The Dodge truck is a 1977 D-100. Those black spoker wheels aren't exactly period correct but look good to me.

Interesting shot. The Caddy on the right looks like a '47/'48 and directly behind it we can see a Ford, perhaps a '57 so there's a big spread of years represented. The Chevy in the middle looks about the same vintage as the Cadillac. Most of the other cars visible are nearly decade newer than the 2 oldies in the front row.

I think that might be a mid 50's Mercury 2nd behind the Chevy pickup on the right?
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Yes, with that bulge in the rear fender. And behind that a ....'56? Chevy and behind that maybe a '54 Ford F100.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,177
Yeah, '56 Chevy has that drooping beltline

Surprised to see one of these behind the shop doing my annual inspection. The one I saw was VERY rough:

    Jensen Interceptor?

  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,177
    Yep, this one's a '71. How'd you know?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,804
Process of elimination, basically. Key on the left narrows down the suspects quite a bit. Auto transmission, manual brakes, big flat hood. All narrowed it down to British, yet obviously not Jag, Triumph, etc. Then there is that steering wheel that looks aftermarket but is actually correct, not to mention the sloping square door opening.

Wheeler dealers refurbed one of these once upon a time.
