Collision center just called, owned by Autonation, and Golf is all done. Called about an hour ago but asked them to check that the mirror moves correctly and that the blinker at the end of it also works. Will need to find out how long the warranty is for also. Sure hope they blended the paint correctly also.

But it's my mirror, want it done right for what I'm paying! So far, so good and warranted for any fading, peeling as long as I own it. In South Florida, that could be an issue down the line. Anyways, I want it done correctly, end of story!

Used Lyft to get to the body shop and worked fine. First driver canceled on me but second guy was just fine. Had a late model base Optima and very comfy back seat, clean vehicle. Since wife was busy with her Turbo Tax stuff, called Lyft to make it easy. Cheaper than a taxi I suspect and got here within 10 minutes which was fine.

Odd situation here in that both Uber and Lyft have been kept out of our market thanks to a strong taxi association and a city govt that requires permits to operate such a service.

Don't like Uber and the troubles they had and have, Lyft is so much better. In Chicago, that's all we used. So today, was just a no brainer.

I deleted my Uber account and app after it came to light that they tried to cover up a data breach. I will be giving Lyft a try the next time I need a ride. I suffered through Uber's awful early attempts to do their own mapping, so I already had a bad taste in my mouth with that company.

Ditto on Uber, account gone now. Lyft is working fine for us now and sure was happy I could use them today. Can't really bothers the wife when she's on duty but needed to go get the Golf and run some errands. Could've used the A3 for the errands part but am used to mine actually and don't want to hurt hers in any way.

I'm a very seldom user of either, but when I checked in Seattle and Portland, the Uber quotes were always cheaper than Lyft, and generally had more cars close by.

Me, too. That was really awful. This "gig economy" has a dark side.

@sandman_6472 have to try lift was going to use it once munths back and the guy canceled on me called me and said to cansal the ride! so have bin using uber they alwas come quickly with in 10 minits and are very helpful and friendly will set up my lift account had gotten rid of it from my phone and give them an nother try! boath have the good and the bad just like everything in life! lollol

so, tire people. Anyone use the Contie DWS06? Wondering if it is worth the premium price for the RDX (looks like about $240 more than the Coopers). Sounds like a really good performance tire, but not sure if really suited to the car. Plus I am cheap...

I have them on the GTI. Love them for the dry and wet performance for sure. Have not had (and hope not to have) any snow experience here in the PNW for that car.

I've taken Über a few times. Mostly locally by my store to get to/from the mechanic. I've also taken it a few times to/from the airport. In NY, most are black mid-sized sedans Camry, Sonata. Or small SUV like a RAV4 or CRV. I've been in New Orleans for business since Tuesday afternoon. I took an Über from the airport here. The woman was driving a Blue Yaris Hatchback. The CEL & TPM were lit up the entire time.

I'm looking for a house, must be within 15 minutes of downtown Bellevue, have waterfront or a view, minimum 2500 sq ft, 3 car garage, 15000 sq ft lot, nice architecture, I want zero down no closing costs, and I don't want to pay more than 200K

My employer has a discount/perk with Lyft, never had an issue - they love Prius around here. Sometimes it seems about every 5th car in downtown Bellevue has an Uber/Lyft emblem. In Prague there's a popular taxi app called "Liftago", I used it there - necessary when there are many crooked cab operators. It worked perfectly, cab was a MB B180d.

I’m more than willing to report on things when they aren’t “up-to-snuff” (as most of you know). I really have nothing but praise for my TLX. I expect to see the service dept in the next few months for an oil change and tire rotation. But, even there, with a coupon, I doubt I’d have to come out of pocket for more than $50. So, even maintenance is good.

Stick.....I know you don’t need encouragement from us. But, I don’t believe you’d be disappointed.

I really have no preference. But, I use UBER exclusively because my AMEX gives me a $35 credit every month just to use with UBER.

And I agree with you, I have no problem citing a vehicle's shortcomings but other than things are a matter of personal taste or are subjective I really have no complaints.

A little late but here are my impressions of the Q7. Last night my BIL and myself stopped at the Audi dealer I purchased from so he could test drive a Q7. The salesman I bought my A4 from helped us and considering it's unlikely the purchase would be made here versus Cincinnati he was extremely accommodating. We drove a very loaded Q7, cold weather, vision package (has the virtual cockpit, LED lights, and surround view camera), all the safety nannies, and the P+ package with nav, Bose stero, blind spot, and other things. Stickered for $67,500.

Visually it looks big on the outside but having owned a previous gen Q7 my BIL commented it looks more rounded than the previous chunky generation. The look is unmistakably Audi though.

First impressions of the interior were positive, the interior was put together well and the design is similar to the A4. The technology is top or near top of the class, very intuitive and easy to use. Everything was familiar to me from having MMI in the A4 but they've vastly improved both the menus and control. There's a touchpad you can use to handwrite address input for example. The virtual cockpit looked good from the passenger seat and while my BIL thought it was well worth the $$$ I don't know if my sister, who will be the primary driver, would care all that much if they saved a few grand and did without. I'm still not a fan of the "ipad on the dash". Lots of room in the first and second rows, the 3rd row as one would expect is strictly for kids or pets. Front seats are nicely contoured and are comfortable. I didn't do any driving but from the passenger seat acceleration, braking, and handling were what you would expect which is to say strong, short and well controlled stops, and according to my BIL an almost perfect balance of comfort and sportiness respectively. We didn't get to test any of the driver assist features.

If it were my money I would add an XC90 to the shopping list. I personally like the styling, inside and out, better and they can be had for thousands less, even similarly equipped.

I really like the XC90 better, too, but I do think the third row of seats is a bit tighter compared to the Q7, if that is a factor to be considered for them.

I also like the looks of virtual cockpit, but it seems like another electrical item to go bad. My FIL has it on his '17 A4 and he loves it.

I honestly have no idea how I'd vote with my money if looking for a midsized luxury SUV. Honestly, I really dig the looks of the newest Escalade, but they can get absurdly pricey. Maybe I'd look at a CX9 and see if it feels as upscale as they claim.

I don't think it's too important as their dogs will be occupying those seats most of the time, at least until my nephew is a little older and can ride back there without a seat. I mentioned the Volvo a few times but I'm pretty certain they want to get back into an Audi. They loved their previous gen Q7.

Not driven one, but sat in a cx9. Very nice interior, so it competes in that area. Loads cheaper though

No idea since I haven't driven either. Badge engineering is a trait of the Japanese manufacturers, too. I usually don't see the added value in any of them.

Yes, there isn’t a manufacturer that doesn’t do it some way.

Ford and GM stand out as the worst but Toyota, Honda and Nissan are right there too.

Is that possible?! LOL Anyone older than six is going to be ducking to sit in the third row. Leg room is okay, but head clearance is not even close!!!!

A friend had one of these for a while. Really comfortable, upscale vehicle. For me, I hated the door clearance to access the front seats. I have never found a vehicle more awkward to enter or exit! Second, even third row were pretty good, though.

On Monday night I noticed a brown spot above our washing machine of our recently refinished basement. Sure enough I was able to push right though, then cut out a large portion of sheet rock too see something was leaking through my kitchen floor.

I call the plumber. Tell him to find the leak and report back. The culprit was a faulty solenoid valve that was stuck open and leaking. After 7 years of heavy use, I decide to replace it with a new one. This time I buy the Kitchen Aid with the 10 year full replacement warranty. I swear the service life of modern appliances is 7 years. That's on its way here tomorrow.

I left for a work conference in New Orleans on tuesday afternoon. Came back tonight. I'm 2 minutes from home and my wife calls and asks me if I can take our 11 year old to Boy Scouts, because THE TRUCK DIES! What?

She left to drive him to Scouts. He forgot his hat, so she turns around. Says the truck starts driving really slow, limps into the driveway, the dashboard lights up like an XMas tree, and dies.

I arrive home at 7:30 after leaving my hotel in NO at 11:00 am, and have to drive my kid to Scouts. Come home, and jump the pilot. It fires up, but I can hear it is weak. I think it is the alternator.

I call AAA and have them tow it to the Good Year shop I use in town for repairs. I follow the tow truck in my Prelude (which he had to jump for me). So while it is there being fixed (hopefully just an alternator), I'll have them check out the clicking noise being made when the wheel is cranked at low speeds.

If it’s any consolation, two weeks before we moved out of our old house, a $400 Moen faucet in our kitchen gave up the ghost. Had to do an identical replacement to avoid churn with the buyer.

Guess I got off lucky; my wife had me purchase a $275 Delta faucet as the replacement.

I would have done that. But if we had, the buyer would have had to approve it in writing. It was easier to replace it with the same one and, luckily, was able to have amazon deliver it free overnight.

This is just not my day. PC Richards came to install the new Dishwasher. When I tried to pull the old dishwasher out myself, apparently I ripped part of the ROMEX cable. So they can connect the dishwasher, but the garbage disposal doesn't work and now I have to have an electrician come to take a look at it. FUN TIMES! Also, the tolerances are so tight, that they can't get the new DW in. I'm going to have a piece of trim cut off my cabinets and re-painted.
