    What's the TMV? I'd deduct whatever the cost is to bring the suspension back to stock, and probably the wheels and tires, too. So $1500 seems about right to me. But, I'm harsh like that.

    that is either a scam, or a fright pig. 52K, and a valve job? When was the last time you heard of a modern car needing that? machine the head, so what, overheated? Rear main seal? Did the owner blow up the engine entirely?

    Yeah, it seems cheap, but I would not go anywhere near this one.

    I found quite a few similar ads last night. All Japanese cars '04-'05 with suspiciously low miles and asking prices under $2k. Must be an odd scam of some sort. I find it odd they list phone numbers, though, no?

    I emailed 3 of them asking for VINs. No responses thus far.

    I keep shopping, but as a replacement for my toy car, not the truck. 6 mos into my 24-mo lease and still loving it. Right on track at 7500 miles, BUT I have been looking for a new job, so I could get myself into trouble. If that happens, maybe I'll pick up one of these $1500 low mileage Japanese cars. Haha.

    Not digging the coronet?

    I’m not shopping, as in visiting dealers, but thinking about options. Car show in January will be fun. Still not sure if I’ll just keep the Elantra, or sell to the daughter in June. We shall see what makes most sense at the time. Depends on if we make progress with relocating, and where she is going to live (if here, long commute. If by work, Short).

    Overall love driving it. Just haven’t got drivers seat figured out. Planning to buy some foam blocks and custom craft some support cushions, and have the wife make nice little covers. Right now, using a little blue travel pillow which does make a big difference.

    @stickguy - good news! It's snowing today in Denver and the Outback has commuting duties this week. I'll see if I can get my wife to provide a tire report after she gets to work. They go in late so it may be around mid-day or so.

    I can never drive the darned thing because it is always in need of something. Latest issue is the crumbling wiring. I've ordered spools of various colors so I can start replacing where needed.     That pretty much mirrors my experience in the M235i- although I have over 38,000 miles on it. The only fault has been a dead auxiliary fan- replaced under warranty at 21,350 miles. I will note I replaced a couple of wheel center caps, the first being lost at a HPDE. The replacement was designed a bit differently and I haven't lost any since. The Michelin PSS tires made it to 32,800 miles, which I consider that to be exceptional- especially considering the car spent three days at the track and one night at the local drag strip.

    Well, tres are on. Got sucked into an alignment too. Wallet is poorer but car probably safer. Couldn’t tell much on the 5 mile drive home on local streets. But seem less harsh. Will give them a good workout next week traveling at Xmas.

    Churn? Everytime something was broken on arrival (undisclosed) or broke within days of our move-in the seller claimed "it was working last time I used it!"

    Fun driving day at work. Got the keys to 2018 Cadillac ATS and thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Drove nicely in Miami traffic and seats were pretty comfortable. Nice silver over black...just did everything nicely and think it would be a pleasure to own. Only downside was the confusing HVAC system and the AM/FM/SXM audio. Too damn complicated, should be more intuitive to be honest. Any system that takes more than a few minutes to learn is too complicated in my book. I want simple knobs and buttons to get me what I want. GM, hope you are listening here!!
    Dropped the ATS and got a 2017 Infiniti Q50. Again, very enjoyable and loved loved the acceleration! My co-worker was holding on for dear life as I got a bit frisky going back to the office. Took a few minutes to find all the buttons for the HVAC ut luckily, the radio was a bit easier than the ATS to operate. One thing I love about my Golf is the simplicity the infotainment system is, easy peasy to learn and set up. Leather seats were comfy and the interior looked very upscale, something I could enjoy driving on a daily basis. Will have to check out the X30 one of these days to see how it stacks up.
    Local VW store got in a 2018 GLA 250 in charcoal which looks pretty interesting. Just over 4200 miles on the clock and asking around $30K which isn't so bad. The alloys are nice, prefer the ones from the 2017 though. Just gotta feeling it's a bit too big for my side of the garage. If it's still on their lot next Tuesday, might just have to go over and give it a drive. Doubt I'd do anything because am still overall happy in the Golf, but doesn't hurt to test one and see. planning on getting an oil change/rotation on Wednesday as I got a $54.99 coupon from Tires Plus for a full synthetic oil change. A bit early, only have 7500 since the last one, but going 10K between changes has never sat well with me and look at it as cheap insurance to keep the turbo engine happy. Anyways, if I drove home in a new vehicle, think the wife would not take it so well. It really is a nice looking vehicle though but...is it nice enough to get me to swap out the Golf for it?? We shall see and have learned never to say never anymore!

    That being said, I could be tempted by a 1997 SL500 (or maybe a SL600 of that time or later) full option car with pano.

    Well, this was my year to improve the bottom line at Michelin and Vredestein; Pilot Super Sports went on the M235i, the 318ti received Pilot Sport A/S 3+ rubber, and the Clubman now has Quatrac 5 tires.

    Pano on a R129 is in the hardtop - it was a rare and expensive option, and is kind of cool. This might have been the first of what is considered to be a modern pano roof . I believed this debuted for MY 1997.

    1997-98 is often regarded as the pinnacle of the R129, as it was the last of the more powerful engine. I think the change might have taken place at a certain month, I don't recall the specifics. However, the later engine is less complex might be easier to maintain, and these aren't sports cars, so it might be a wash. I would seek the latest mintest car in my budget, if the engine is no matter. These cars are still quite cheap, and maybe undervalued.

    It’s almost frustrating how content I am with the current vehicles! I could see a 2-series replacing the Type R at some point, but it’ll be a little while. Driving the Civic is so satisfying. And I don’t seem to be getting much attention lately from other drivers, which is a good thing.

    As for the Durango, the Atlas is starting to catch my eye, but I don’t think I could go from the V8 to that V6 the VW offers. If they put Audi’s 3.0T in it, it’d be very tempting. Which just leads me to waiting for used Q7s to come down in price. Or an XC90.

    Are you kidding? Now is when the prices come down.

    I will probably catch some flak here, but I kinda like the A207 E Cab. It’s a cruiser, but it doesn’t pretend to be anything else. I like the trunk space a fabric roof gives you, and seems like it would be a nice weekend trip car with the wife.
