The Touareg and the Jetta look quite pedestrian in comparison.

We were both hoping to see the Polestar, but, alas, it was at home with Mrs. @breld today.

Indeed. As usual a little soap and water wouldn't hurt the Touareg, @breld and @michaell always keep their cars nice and clean, but I do look forward to seeing the Polestar soon.
You didn't see the Jetta today. It's a bit dirty, though not as bad as the MINI that's parked in the garage today. Just makes me sad how bad it is - inside and out.

I've got to get some of those magic potions from Griot's to get the hard water stains off the Jetta's glass.

We had Chinese food for lunch today at a place that is pretty central to all three of us. We try to mix up the type of food we get.

Got to drive some new 2018 models yesterday and both were quite impressive but at opposite price points. The first was the Nissan Maxima. The only word that comes to mind is impressive!! Not wild about the exterior to be honest, a bit too busy for my tastes. The interior is a solid 10 though. Seating surfaces were great, dash is a bit busy but lots of information coming through. Took a few minutes to take it all in but easily done and think one could learn to love it. Accelerates seamlessly and had a smile on my face the whole time. Really wish I had more than ten minutes behind the wheel though. No wonky transmission either, thank G-d!
Next up was the Toyota IA, the small four door sedan. Only had 600 miles on it but a renter had an issue with the back bumper and a pole as it was going to body damage at Lauderdale airport. I liked it, a whole lot and to be honest, I could see one of these in my garage and I wouldn't feel like I need more to be totally honest. Acceleration was brisk with a great sound, the engine never felt stressed. The seats were comfy, ergonomics were great, dash was simple but it works. Used my iPhone to hear my music and sounded excellent with enough power for 90% of the public. I would tweak it a bit if it were mine. Bottom line, I would have no issue having one as my daily driver though I'd want every option offered. Of course, loved the size which drew me to it right away. Who knows, there could be another Toyota in my future one day!!

Hate that my MacBook Pro has been down since last Wednesday. Using my iPad now for everything and though capable, I miss my MacPro!!! Have an appointment this afternoon to get some phone help to solve the issue. Spoke with them yesterday from work and the lady knew of the issue, said it's not too uncommon, and easily fixable over the phone. Waiting till after lunch to call them and get it fixed. Never replaced my desktop and figured the iPad could take it's place and so far, it is but want my laptop back as am so used to it and since it's a 2013 unit, not time to replace it yet. Hoping to get at least six years use out of it if not seven. Figure by 2020, I'll be ready for a newer model.

Wow! That's quite a coincidence - my MacBook Pro suddenly wouldn't boot up yesterday!

I have an appointment at the Apple Store to get it checked out. It's under warranty for 10 more days.

Bought mine in September 2013 so definitely out of warranty now. Funny, my black screen issue was fixed over the phone about 3 weeks ago but the lady who helped me installed a male ware program on my Mac, said it wouldn't hurt. Now, not so sure but right now, all I've got is a white screen with a circle and diagonal line through it, so it's totally useless. Once the laundry is through, I can call and have as much time as I need to get it working once again. That's why I hate technology, when it's working all is great but once it's down, one must get help or sometimes have to spend a small fortune to replace a unit that's just too old and outdated to use anymore. Just wish computers were like t v's that can last upwards of twenty years or so. And new tech can get expensive especially Apple products which I think are the best out there. Nice that one can sync ones computer, iPad and iPhone and have them work as one. But can also do that with an android phone and tablet with Windows 10, just really depends what one prefers. Done the android bit but am happier with Apple right now though they are a bit pricier!

Odds are low given I'm still under warranty (barely). And, in the past couple weeks, I have purchased....an iPhone X for myself, a new iPad Pro for myself, and a new iMac for the kids. And this is how Apple rewards me - by having my Macbook peter out.

My wife upgraded to an X because she updated the iOS on her 6 plus and it refused to work correctly anymore (not to mention greatly reduced battery life). I always warn her to avoid updates, like I do. Oh well.

My iPhone 6s Plus is working great, bought new on eBay last January. Still would love the X phone but not worth it at this juncture. MacPro is still installing after the phone call with the Apple tech earlier this afternoon. Hopefully soon we should be good to go. This iPad is getting a bit tedious to use for all my computing needs!!

is the X the jumbo size? No interest in that. Or a plus. Too big to fit in my pocket. Heck, hard to hold in one hand.

maybe coincidence, but have an appointment at the apple store tomorrow to get my daughters 6 looked at. Battery is dying quick now she said. Could be an IOS or apps issue. Or just just wore the poor thing out.

We're on an odd model # rotation for the Galaxy series, currently on the S7. So far so good with updating the OS B)

As long as the battery life holds out we'll be content to wait for the S9.

My wife had a 6 that finally gave up the ghost last week - so she has an iPhone X now, too. My iPhone 7 is not performing well after the most recent iOS update and I am absolutely furious. Unfortunately work requires the latest version of iOS to be installed to ensure it has the latest security patches, so I don't have much choice.

Yeah, iOS 11 has been a real nightmare. Could be worse, I guess.... but it could also be a lot better!

The X has the same size screen as a 6/7/8 plus with the overall size of the standard 6/7/8.  It’s actually a sweet piece of hardware IMO.  I’m getting mine in a few weeks.

yeah, the X is actually in between the 8 and 8 plus in size, but has the biggest screen, due to it being edge to edge.

When we upgrade, the wife will get an 8, so it works just like her current phone, and she doesn't have to learn anything new, except for a fingerprint scanner.

That's the same reason she got a 2017 X3. Most of it works just like the 2011 we traded in.

Wife and I both upgraded to the 8 a few weeks ago. Works just like our 7, just a bit faster.

Though, I've been having some Apple tech issues with my Jetta, lately.

I've got an iPod original (160MB) that I dug out of a drawer recently. Synched up my iTunes to it, and plugged it into the USB port in the Jetta. All is good, initially.

Lately, the car hasn't been recognizing the device. When I bring it in the house, it shows the battery has drained. I thought the USB port would keep it charged - it does with my iPhone.

Also, are these devices susceptible to cold? I leave the iPod in the car, and it's been getting chilly at night.

    Thoughts?

something in a deep recess of my mind tells me that older devices won't charge through the USB like that. But it could just be a gas bubble. So you might want to find someone that knows what they are talking about.

I believe this is right. They had to be charged with an Apple authorized piece of hardware. Even if it was just a USB cable in the end.

I upgraded to the X after having a 6 for almost three years - pretty good stint.   I told myself I didn’t need the latest and greatest, but I am loving the new phone.  Love the bigger screen but same overall size aa the older phone.

The 8 is same size as your 7. Might weigh just a little more. You wouldn't want to upgrade, if you already have a 7.

My wife and I will need new phones in the next year. Since we keep them so long, we'll probably get the 8, to keep the tech from getting too far out of date by the end.. But, otherwise, we'd save the $150/each and get the 7.
