Really? I'm quite fond of its looks. The profile is nothing special, but the nose and tail are very attractive.
If I'm leasing, it's at the top of the list of small sport sedans. I'd take a chance for 27 months. But, I want the TI model. No stick, though.. if you are inclined that way.

I'm still trying to figure out the advantage of the Ti. No more power, so I guess it is just an equipment thing.

At first blush (in person), it just seems a bit plain to me. The nose definitely is the most distinctive feature. But in the right color, with the right wheels and right trim level...

Not much to dislike there but if you need some discouragement I have a few paltry concerns---certain parts for the big block cars are a devil to find, and if the AC isn't working, it's going to cost you two arms and two legs to restore properly.

Also good luck finding the octane necessary to run that thing.

well, if given a choice, I would prefer a small block, and you can hold the AC. Won't be needed.

I've been asked to provide car buying advice to my stepdaughter's boyfriend. His old Forester has run its course. He would like 1) AWD, 2) hatchback, 3) 150+ hp, 4) $24k or less.

I think he's definitely open to used, but I think it'd be wise to go with something lightly used and maybe CPO, so that he has a long warranty period.

I'm thinking:

Subaru Crosstrek (used or new)
Mazda CX-5 (used)
VW Alltrack (used)

What else?

We decided to put things on hold; he has to pass a test(CFP, IIRC) to remain employed so once that hurdle is cleared we'll be in a much better position to decide what best fits his budget.

Shifty yes the high mileage of the diesel and Jean doesn’t help things I believe it has glow plugs I told him to change all that stuff I think he will do it eventually ended up buying a 2014 GMC Yukon today to as well he’s gonna keep that and his old Ford truck go for that Corvette why not I can talk you out of it ha ha

I made a last ditch effort to nail down a deal on a 2018 330e at a local BMW dealer that caught my eye while I was picking up my wife’s car. It was a longshot so no real expectations.

No dice so far because it’s a loser deal (and I know it) that only dealers in Portland and in CA would make. The only reason to take it is if it puts them over a threshold that unlocks significant money.

They’re not ready to take it yet but if things change tomorrow they’ll call me. I’m not expecting anything.

The torque of the 330e off the line is downright intoxicating.

I second the Tucson. Get new and have 10yr/100k warranty. Would also add the Encore to the list.

The real issue that there are more big blocks available than were ever produced. Lots of fakes. This one looks real but I bet it would take forever to sell because everyone would have the same concern that I have. People also seem to have a hang up about spending more than 50 to 60K on cars.

If seller does not have supporting paperwork, then it does not have the value of a BB example, IMHO

Think I mentioned last night in a comment that my brother Connie 2014 GMC Yukon regular size with the 5.3 engine has a bit of high miles but I got it free good price it’s under 100 K that I know black fully loaded except for navigation in the seat in the few weeks when I go to visit him in upstate New York if weather cooperates will have to wait until March or April when this winter is passed us we shall see

As I mentioned in another topic, the collector car market is rationalizing right now, so buyers definitely have it over sellers. If the car isn't priced right, and/or doesn't have the right credentials, most buyers are just sniffing and walking away.

Sometimes, it just happens if your connection speed or computer drags.. I've had it pop up on me, on a rare occasion, and I'm pretty sure my comments don't have to wait for approval. (though, I may need a 7 second delay to reconsider).

I'm passing. A friend that knows them well thinks it is a restamped block. IRA was and continues to be safe.

Strangely Mershons has removed the "rate us on cars.com" link after I and two others ripped them.

Split window had no claims of grandeur. They just claimed that the issues that needed fixed were fixed. They were not.

so, have normal interest rates gone up recently? I talked to Ally (I think) to get offers for a refi on my car (got a card in the mail, just can't remember the name of the program, but basically a loan broker). And the initial :best rate" was IIRC 3.79%. He did say that this is what they publish, and once he shopped the loan around to the lenders might get someone to bite at closer to 3%. But no guarantees. So I did not go ahead now. Will not matter if I sell to the kid in the summer, so might as well until then. Or may just pay it off way early in a year or so, which again makes a refil pointless.

Check out Verity credit union if they’ll write in NJ. With a car that gets over 30mpg highway, autopay and a 80% LTV they’re at 2.14% new or used for 60 months.

I am thinking my wife actually does want a new car. Had the RDX out today while running errands, since it is already filthy and the new car was blocked in. Ended up parked next to a giant PU, in a Walmart lot, so had to back out semi blind until our daughter in the back could see if someone was coming. While listening to her complain about lack of heated seats and air vents back there!

later we were talking about the car show (daughter and her BF will be coming this year). She really wants to see the new RDX in person, because she did not find the teaser shots attractive. But we started discussing all the features it would have, that the current one does not. I mentioned that you could get pretty much all of that on the CRV, and she said that could work too. Hmmm.

her main concern is that the RDX is paid for (I don't even bother to trot out fancy analysis factoring in depreciation on old and new!) and that we just got a new one. She perked up though when I said that I might get a CUV like that in the summer, if we did end up passing the Elantra on to the kid. I will need something, so might as well get an upgraded family car. Leaving unsaid of course, that it frees me up to move the RDX for something else when I felt like it!

Very fishy. The price caught my eye. I noticed the speedometer is in kms, but the central display has been changed to miles (how convenient). It appears to be a xenon car without keyless-go - not possible here. Dash stitching is unlike US-spec cars. Power folding mirrors weren't even optional in the US for the E that year. Then I ran the VIN and it came back to Mexico spec. Weird. You'd be a curiosity at a MBCA event, but you wouldn't be able to legally register it to drive it there, as that engine was never offered in the car in the US or even Canada when sold new in those respective places. That explains the price, I suppose.
