Yes, that is a 1953 Chevy wagon.
The Ford on the officer's right is also a 1953.
  • lostwrench1lostwrench1 Member Posts: 1,165
Researching the 1883 Fest Building on the left I found that as of 2010 it was still there.
Also, 5 major roads met at that intersection thus the 5 Points Grocery Store.

I was just looking at that. Seems to be less developed now.

Wonder about that cop in the first photo - looks like a motorcycle policeman, jacket and boots.

Yep. Looks like he's wearing a Buco half shell police helmet with visor.

We get a huge migration of birds this time of year, they bombard my car on the way home!
Looks something like this (from Houston):

Blurred car at lower right just partially in the frame looks like a 58 Ford.

I'm thinking it's a 57. Believe the 58's had "gunsights" on the fenders, but maybe the lower line didn't.

Could be. Now that I look at it, the fender top/headlight area might not be large enough for dual lights.

I think the base models didn't have the sights, yeah.

Lower line didn't have gunsights. This is lower line because of lack of wide bright trim around windshield made of real metal...

There doesn't appear to be a groove or ridge in middle of fender. I believe, believe that the 57's had a groove or ridge in the middle...

    So I'll go '58 also. I had a 57 back when I was young (er) .

Were the light openings different from 57 to 58? I always wondered if they considered dual headlights in the 57, but held off, but the opening was actually sized for duals hence the bug eye appearance of the 57?

I've never thought of that, makes sense. Looking at pics, the fender top of a 57 looks very close in size to a 58, the 58 maybe just barely wider, but hard to tell in the old pic.

It's impossible to tell MYs on these. IIRC they stopped making the A in '61 but you're looking at a 1958 MG-A roadster.

I can't tell if the spokes are chromed but those rims sure are and they look nice to me.

Pretty sure they still made the MGA in 1962 model year.

Sounds right, I don't think MGB was until model year 1963 here anyway.

Yes....SOOOOO much better, as well as proper and correct, as Her Majesty intended. People who chrome those wheels have spent too much time in realtors' dens.

I'll pick off the woody - likely a 46-48 Ford, off chance it could also be a 41-42 as I think they all shared the same parts visible from that angle.
  • tmarttmart Member Posts: 2,414
Is that a 55/56 Ford wagon next to the Woody?
  • lostwrench1lostwrench1 Member Posts: 1,165
A 1949 Chevy on the left and two 1953 movies on the right.

Could be, also could be a '53 Ford, seems quite small next to that old Woody.

It's Marysville CA, halfway between Sacramento and Chico.

The green Olds w the wraparound on right is a 1954 and there's another Olds behind the white Chevy on the left. Where's all the imports?

    Actually, a 52/53/54 Ford appears larger(boxier) than a 55/56.

Of course, I was being facetious, fast-forward to the mid-60s and you'd see lots of VWs and such.

There's a red-pickup with wood side rails, almost certainly a Chevy 3100 or it's GMC equivalent. Imagine all those passenger vehicles and only one pickup.

Is that a white Caddy to its left?

    1963 Dodge Polara.

Yup, a 426 Hemi Ramcharger hides under that double scoop. Whan I was a kid rumor had it that the Old Westbury NY PD was running Ramcharger prowl cars. Looking back it seems doubtful but they were Polaras.

I saw a Series 75 today (assuming late 60s).  It looked good from a distance.

I'd imagine that green would have been out of style by 83-84, so I guessed early. I like it, it might work better on a 70s car, still kind of subtle and bold at the the same time, especially with a white interior. More interesting than most of them which seem to be black, white, or beigegold.
  • tjc78tjc78 Member Posts: 17,250
I could never do that green.

I know the yellow car as a TVR Taimar, but I think that basic style was used for a long time under numerous model names.

Yup, it's a car that was sold by TVR under a bunch of different names over the years beginning IIRC as the TVR Griffith but the yellow car is the variant sold in the US with the carbeurated TR6 engine as the TVR 2500M(1975MY).

    Very nice handling car.

New Buick wagon. Is that called a Regal? Whatever it is, if sold here, good for at least 4-5 sales per year.
