Pagoda was W113. Started off as 230SL, related to the engine in my fintail. Modified in a short run to 250SL, then the popular 280SL, which seems to be a bit of a different animal on the road - significantly more power, but not as revvy and sporty feeling.

The orangey car is an US spec Austin Marina, a lovely BL car sold on this side of the pond for a couple years in the early-mid 70s (maybe not making it past the catalytic converter) I doubt many made it past the mid 80s.

You're correct. It's a '75 Marina originally sold in Canada then exported to the US. I'm not sue I've ever actually seen one.

Looks like a '72 with Go Pack if that's a stripe on the hood instead of some reflection in the pic.

It's a '72 AMC Javelin AMX that came originally w a 361 CID V8 and was converted to 401 CID. That is a stripe but the ad says nothing about a Pack option.

IIRC, the Alabama state police bought some of those second gen Javelin's instead of Mustangs, but soon found out that fender hump over the front wheels provided more than a little drag and could make handling a little tricky. I liked the look at the time though.

Nope, it's not a Ferrari 330 of any kind.

Yes it is a 1960s Ferrari. Around 1000 of this four seat model were made from 1959-63 which made an important contribution to the financial well-being of Ferrari Sp.a

The date must mean it is a 250 GTE? I have seen the greenhouse on 330 cars, which is why I guessed, and I am used to hood scoops on 250 cars, although I am sure it wasn't required.

Yes, it's the Ferrari that was known back in the day as the 250GT 2+2.
It was Ferrari's first real attempt at a four seat Gran Turismo and succeeded nicely with a production run of around 1000.

This car has been a favorite of mine since I first saw one on a used car lot in the mid-60s at the astronomical price of $14,000

It has gotten little love from collectors and a number were bought up and stripped of their bodies to create replica GTOs and California Spiders.
Rising values have put a stop to that thankfully because I think it's a smashing looking car from all angles but particularly from the front and in dark colors.

You're correct in noting that the roofline reappeared on subsequent Ferrari 2+2s (330/365) but then Pininfarina often recapitulated successful themes.

For some reason the 250GT 2+2 is now known as the 250GTE, a terminology I never encountered back in the day.

Not sure if it was on the Monza V-6 or V-8, but on one (or both) of those engines you had to lift the engine a few inches with a hoist in order to change one of the spark plugs.

I think that was on the Vega, but could be wrong.

It was the V8 Monza. I looked at a mid 70s one once, in HS or college. Cool for the day, a bright silver hatch. With a 4 speed of course. I think was a bit out of budget. But I remember the family mechanic who looked at it for me said don’t bring it there for service for that reason. Had to jack up engine to get to rear plugs. Not sure about any other components.

Given what I drove in those days, a v6 stick would have been more than fine too.

Only thing I can pick out is: Blizzard of 1978! I was driving home from a friends apartment that night and the weather was pretty mild. Just wet and cold. But by the time I got back to my house about 25 miles away the snow storm was moving in quickly and the roads turned awful. Didn't help that I was driving my '68 Torino GT.

white Toyota Corona front right. Dark Volvo wagon 3 back, and off it's left flank, an AMC Concorde. Possibly an eagle, but hard to tell from this angle in the snow. Behind the AMC, I think the white 4 door is a Fairmont.

Here's the picture again...

The car on the left is a '56 Pontiac, probably a Chieftan, The Chevy is '58 low ender (210 or Biscayne). The Studebaker is early 50s from the coming/going era of Studebaker styling. You're right about the '57 Ford and I think the two-tone passing by is a '55 or '56 Poncho

It was the greatest snowstorm of my lifetime.
After the snowfall ended, 30 hours passed before the first plow truck went by my house.
I had a '68 LeMans 350, 4 on the floor.

The 57 Ford is a Town Sedan. It's not the hardtop 4-door.
The Studebaker looks like a 1950. The 1951 models had a bulbous protrusion in the top half of the taillight lens. I blew this up and the taillight looks planar. We had a 1950 2-door Champion.

I think that reports of the day said the Mustang was a bit faster and much more gas-hungry. The Monza 350 was built for MPG.

My parents had a '51 Champion.
I still have its jack and use that scissor jack for various tasks.

I knew a guy who owned one of those Monza hatchbacks. Decent looking for the time (if you could fit in it). He claimed they had to partially pull the engine, or some such, to change out the back plugs. I kind of liked the Olds Firenza and Buick Skyhawk versions.

It wasn't all that long ago that something similar stranded a lot of drivers on Chicago' Lake Shore Drive. Nasty stuff! It was so cold that I don't think any of those affected even got robbed

I can tell you with authority that a Mustang II with V-8 and 4-speed could out-pull a 305 Camaro of the same vintage.... to about 50 mph.. After that, it was all over for the Ford.
