I would like to know the December numbers (RV/MF) for a 2018 Genesis G90 V6 AWD in Northern California, and if possible to explain differences between their Loyalty and Conquest Bonus Cash. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for being so fast on your response. Do the figures change for 36/15. On the loyalty cash, is that for current owners only? We have had Genesis products in the past

So I am a little confused. The dealer is giving $8000 discount and if I put down $1000; if MSRP is $69325. Why is the cap cost $66548.62? I even see a cap cost reduction of $4583.76. Can you explain how they are getting to $899 a month for 36 month. And they were also covering the first payment. There is a doc fee of $799 and residual is $31196.25

You'll have to ask the dealer how they got to that cap cost number.

Taxes? Fees? Junk? The more you know, the better we can help.

So that’s my question, should cap cost be MSRP minus the Discount? Which would make it $61325? Or should it be the $66548 minus the discount of $8000 and the $1000 down? I am not sure how cap cost is determine?

    CAP cost:
MSRP minus discount, plus acquisition fee, doc fee, DMV fees, F&I sale items, etc, etc, etc..

If this is Florida, then there is upfront tax on CAP cost reductions (rebates, money down), and then the monthly payment is taxed.

Hi! I'm considering either buying or leasing a 2018 G90 5.0 Ultimate AWD. Here are the details...You rock for doing this for people BTW. Thanks

    MSRP is $75325.

Purchase price is $71815. Market Value for your trade is $15000.

    Initial Cap. Cost $65926.38

    45% lease end value $33896.25

    Money Factor 0.00085

With your trade and approx. 20% down, $12000, your payments would be $849 incl. all taxes and fees. At special Genesis financing rate of 0.9%.

Lease the car for 36k miles/36 months for $599 per month incl. tax with your trade and upfronts of $1268.

.00045 and 45% for 36/12; MF is marked up the max allowed.

We do not recommend using trade equity to buy down your lease payment. It masks the true cost of the lease, and that up front money would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled.

Ask them to provide you the cap cost and payment quote with only the first payment and registration costs paid up front. I doubt it will result in a $599/mo lease payment.

You don't want to negotiate the payment; you want to negotiate the selling price, then ensure the MF isn't marked up, and watch out for junk fees.

Ok, heres' what I got back: G90 for 36 months 12k/year with just up fronts/1st payment due @ signing $1,618.00 total payment would be $949.00 including tax.

CURIOUS...With a $949 monthly I feel like I'd just rather dumpy my trade in into a finance, pay $1K a month and in a two years if I want to get rid of the G90, I could...What am I missing in regard to the lease benefits?

Need to know the prices behind that lease quote to know what's going on.

    Marked up MF?
    Junk fees?

But, I agree with you, you can finance the car for that amount per month. No advantage to leasing, based on this one quote.

ok, here's the whole enchilada...Plus the dealers opinion on it...

"71,707.54 less 8,000 lease cash which brings it down to 63,807.54 plus 750 acq fee brings you too $64,457.54

Bottom line here is the break down:

$1618 due @ signing then 35 remainig payments @ 949 totals $34,833 for lease in total. Lease end value is $33,896.25 that totals $68,729.25. Cheaper to lease to buy than buy outright.

In terms of purchase Genesis Finance offering $1,000 GF bonus cash and 09% financing for 60 months.

My advice would be lease see where you are at with the car if you love the car and the purchase price of $33896.25 is a good based on market value in 3 years buy it out still less than outright purchase."

OK SO...It seems that what I want to do is negotiate the $71K down to something more palatable and then have them plug that into the above lease which would then be pretty aggressive due to the $8K in lease cash...Am I understanding that right?

Yes, for every $1000 you take off the price, the lease payment drops by approximately $28/mo.

And, with the base MF, I get $949/mo as well, assuming 6.25% sales tax rate.

I dunno, there are a lot of nice cars you can lease for $1000/mo. You sure you like the G90 that much? The lease program on them just isn't that great - mainly, it's the pitifully low residual that hurts.

yeah...I guess the $8K off is to help offset that. If I can get an aggressive purchase price I may just go that way...Though it seems like if I'm going to ultimately OWN the car (either finance, cash or lease) then lease has the most incentives and is the least expensive.

Received the following quote for a 2018 G90 5.0 Ultimate AWD. Does this look like a good deal? Anything I missed?

    MSRP = $72825

    Purchase price is $64824

Initial Cap Cost = $69675.50 (after adding acq. fee-$500, doc fee-$150, 6.25% sales tax)

$1800 cash down (includes first month's payment, title, state inspection, etc.)
    $2000 dealer rebate

    Adjusted Cap Cost = $65875.50

    36 month term, 10k miles, 47% Residual

    Money Factor = 0.00045

    Payments = $924.15/month

My apologies - was reading my charts wrong. 47% is the correct 36/10 residual.

I get the same payment as the worksheet.

Only way to improve on the deal is get a bigger discount from sticker - only $1600?

Does the dealer know that nobody wants to get a sedan? 2% seems really, er, lame.

Michaell, back in the forum after a while. Looking at perhaps a G90 for 36/12K, Ultimate 5.0. I am retired now (Nevada) and my financial adviser has counseled me to NOT put anything extra into a depreciating asset—no down payment, no cap cost, etc.. In your current experience, what’s the best bang for the buck in the $750-900/month range. I know sedans are passé but I am looking for a sedan or a sport back (GT). Thanks.

There are a lot of nice choices available - I'd suggest you do some research and test drive a few that catches your eye and see what appeals to you.

A good lease deal isn't that good if you don't like the car.

Thanks, have done all that. Cadillac CT6 doesn’t appear to have good plans; BMW seems to be like MB in option costs. Audi is between a lot of model cycles. I do like the G90 (AWD-WE GET SNOW IN RENO). I also like the Volvo S90, Kia Singer GT2 AWD. I keep coming back to those 3. I’m coming out of a Tesla so I am over brand cache for now.

S90 probably has the best lease program

    Hi,

Thanks for all of the support on this board!

Can you let me know the Money Factor and Residual (36/10 & 36/12) in CT for the Genesis G90 AWD 5.0 Ultimate package for this month plus this month's incentives?

    I appreciate the help!
