I'm not a scotch drinker, but I do like and appreciate Jack Daniels. Luckily for my budget, I prefer the straight Black Label. The Gentleman Jack costs quite a bit more, and is too smooth for me, I like a little burn with my whiskey.
$56.50CDN here, which with exchange, is only about $5 more than what you paid.

I do save a lot of money by not purchasing that sort of stuff. Alcohol, coffee, 'smokes', etc. No wonder so many folks in the world are "broke!"
If someone is willing to make a ~3 hour each way drive just to buy drinks, they must be consuming quite a volume

I flew on the crew as a loader and the pilots always said to me, "jmonroe, just make sure everything is tied down tight. If anything gets broken it's your @ss". The pilots were always more concerned with the booze staying put than the many thousands of dollars worth of the other cargo. Yep, RHIP and it was in full force when the booze was flying.
FWIW, a carton of cigaretts was only a buck and on our base it was 2 bucks. We did our share of running those too and we never got caught by customs. Why you might ask? They got some of the loot too. That was a fun thing to watch. Everybody had to get their share. Although I was just a kid back then I grew up a lot on how things really worked. I still think it works like that today.

After it passed, my Yuengling pitchers went from $5 to $5.50. The humanity!
Well, it was eventful! The intent was just to make a quick run down to Oregon to attend a high school reunion. We were to leave on the evening of June 1, spend June 6-9 in Oregon, and then head home early on the tenth to be back to work on Wednesday. However, my wife really hates the "quick runs" trips I take, so she modified it a little bit...
We ended up leaving at about 3am on June 2 and just ran straight through the wee morning hours until we arrived at Liard Hot Springs around 7pm that day. After a relaxing jaunt in the springs, we left again at 5am Sunday morning to reach a campground near Quesnel, BC, that night, where it poured on us all night long (but was kind enough to stop just before we had to pack the tent away). Monday was a relatively short drive to Abbotsford, BC, where we splurged and stayed in a hotel.
The following morning, we rose early to head over to the ferry terminal at Tsawwassen (south of Vancouver). We then took the first ferry of the morning (7am) to Vancouver Island. A bus took us over to Butchart Gardens by about 10:30am, and we spent the day touring their facilities and grounds. We managed to get back to the ferry terminal in time for the 5pm ride back to the mainland and went to sleep somewhat early at the hotel.
I posted in the "Road Trip" thread, but I'll share some photos here anyway. Pictures area always fun....
We spent about 45 minutes in the canoe owner's driveway using his shop vac to eliminate as much glass as possible from the car. It was truly EVERYWHERE. Even now, little bits of glass mysteriously appear every day... Once we had that part done, we continued into Bellingham (under gloriously clear skies, I should add!) to spend another three hours at the Lowes there (which was directly along our intended route, so at least that part worked out!). We bought tools and supplies, fashioned ourselves a workbench out of a shopping cart and some plywood, and cut some plexiglass covers for the windows. With some duct tape to affix it, we were all set for the rest of the journey!
Later, before heading home, we added a mirror to the right side for decent visibility....
Friday and Saturday centered around the reunion activities, and then we were off to home! We were going to stay at a campground along Kluane Lake on Tuesday night and return to home mid-day Wednesday, but a bear sighting (below) just outside the campground encouraged my wife to just push a long day of driving instead. We were home about 3am Wednesday.
Mine is a tiny school (I graduated in a class of seven, which is fairly normal, though 2018 saw a record graduating class of eighteen!!!), so this was an 'all school' reunion, with graduates in attendance varying between 1944 and 1998.
Enjoyed your retelling of our saga above. What surprises me is how the county can afford to keep the school open with so few students. Usually a county would combine several smaller schools into a one campus school. Bussing kids is much less expensive than keeping small schools open. It also enables hiring addition proficient teachers and better buildings.

Quite the adventure. I think that was more than a bear sighting...it looked like a triple bear sighting.
So how do you make an insurance claim.............you see I was driving along when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, this canoe came flying through the air.............
Our son, his wife, and 4 grandchildren live on the west coast of Vancouver Island, a little town of 300. You drive on a logging road for 2 hours to get there....have to pull over to the side when a logging truck is coming. When you arrive you phone them, and they come over in a boat and take you to their place. 150 live on the car side, 150 live on the no car side of the river.
There is a beautiful school, that has about 14 students at any one time...Grades Kindergarten to 8. Up until recently the kids on the no car side got picked up in a School boat.

2018 Nissan Sentra NISMO
Well, leave it ta AutoBlog.com ta give me the goods.
Autoblog last reviewed the 2016 Sentra, which isn't materially different from the 2018 model in most respects. Reviewer Steven J. Ewing wrote that while competitors like the Honda Civic and Mazda3 offer more value for slightly more money, the Sentra "looks better, it's quieter inside, and you can get it with more goodies" than its predecessors. "It's definitely not the enthusiasts' choice, but in the compact class — and especially for Nissan — that doesn't really matter."

The above comment is a no-brainer ta me, too, though the Nissan Sentra is not well-received in Edmunds much at all. In fact, I think I am the only regular on here who has as much as said a peep in it's favor. I have liked Nissan for a long time, the 411 Bluebird and 510 sedans rock my house. I do have a plastic Revell model of a Datsun 510 coupe that I painted mustard yellow in my den here.
Yeah, driver100, you are correct, though. I change my liked cars often, so we'll see. Two more years of payments left to go on our 2011 Kia Soul that is about 65 miles short of 100,000 miles right now.

I was thinking just the other day.....why do they make Nissans? I mean, there are I think better choices in their category....cars that get better reviews, are more reliable or have some unique quality. Like Mazdas have a little more engineering and some unique models......but, Nissan??????

I've never owned a Nissan. Had one for a rental car a few times (Altima mostly). Back in 2010 I considered buying a new Altima, but didn't pull the trigger. I think you get a lot more car per dollar spent with a Passat. Or, if you're thinking low cost of ownership (high resale value), for sure the Accord would win out.
Maybe they need another name change. They used to be called Datsun which I understand was the name a German marketing firm came up with for their cars that were exported to the US and possibly other countries. Sounds like it is time to call in the Germans again.
FWIW, Son #1 had a 2004 (I think) Altima 6 cylinder that he thought was pretty good. Now he has a 2013 Infinity G37 that he likes even more. And lets not forget all the compliments I got on the Black 2015 Altima rental I had while Mrs. j's Subie was in the shop getting a right front fender due to a hit and run from a jacked up pickup in a parking lot back in 2016. :@
