Nah, if I cared enough, I'd try to drive change. "Love it or leave it" mentality is among the worst in the land.

I'll embrace some of the Randian thought that is all the rage these days and say let others fall behind, less competition that way.

Surprised that you would get bad food in a nice respectable restaurant in Florida.......most restaurants there really try to please, the competition is brutal. Check the restaurant out on Tripadvisor.com and see what other people have written about it.
One fancy place in Florida had a meal we thought wasn't good. I found their contact information on their website....wrote to the manager because I wanted them to learn from our experience. He said to see him when we come back and he will give us 4 free meals (drinks not included) the next time we come in.

At least you had the company of some pleasant ladies, makes up for a lot.

Maybe it’s what I ordered - but I never am disappointed when I order a chef’s salad no matter where I am eating.

As for for being younger in the 70’s and 80’s, weren’t we all?

Guinness is a bit stout and seems to taste like it has a somewhat thick consistency for me, but I suppose you could put a scoop of ice cream in it

We generally avoid tourist areas, really like to see how average people live. But, the Guiness plant is worth a look at, shows how they started this unique product. Also, the Kilmainham Gaol first one built in 1796 is a must see. The scene of public hangings, overcrowding, terrible conditions for men, women and children...youngest 7! During the potato famine some people purposely went to jail....just to be able to eat.

Some of the prisoners names are still on the door ways. I remember one prisoner was to be hanged one day, so they let him have his planned wedding the day before....those were cruel times.

The Guiness land was leased in 1759 to Arthur Guinness at IR£45 (Irish pounds) per year for 9,000 years. This gave Guiness a good head start on the competition....very low overhead.

We did something different. Went to Dublin Castle. Also National Library had 2 free fascinating exhibits, one on Yeats and one on Ireland and WWI. Also spent much time on St. Stephens Green, key site of the 1916 Easter Rising. There is much on that history in Dublin Castle too, and an exhibit there on the Potato Famine and Irish immigration. We had a great time. Took a 4 mile hike along the Dalkey coast up to the obelisk on Kilinney Hill. Spectacular views once you got there, and a very nice pub at the bottom to refuel!

That is great Stick, not too many people think to go to the prison, and it is so worthwhile seeing it! Dublin is a great city, reminds me of London but on a smaller more manageable scale. Nice to see a downtown area that is booming...lots of people, stores are busy, interesting homes and buildings. Always amazes me, so many authors, musicians, and theater people, for a country of just 5 million people.

Seems a bit too bare bones for my taste. Not sure how you spend $50k and wind up with half a body, and most of that is fiberglass.

I have another new car dealer horror story. I signed a purchase for a new car and the trade-in value of my old car was just under eight thousand dollars. What do you think that your position would be if the situation was reversed and you purchased from the dealer a car that you thought had a certain mileage and then before you picked up the car, you found out that the car had many more kilometres than what the odometer reads? Would you agree then that the contract that you signed was still binding? It is not the dealer’s fault that you purchased a car with altered kilometres and remember that you signed a statement to the dealer that the mileage was correct. What I do not understand is that your car has the type of odometer that cannot be altered so someone must have replaced the odometer with a used one that had fewer kilometres. Since you are the second owner and you did not replace the odometer then you should again contact the original owner of the car to see if you can sort out the discrepancy in the mileage. I am not sure if anything at this late date can be done to the original owner. This is not a fault that you can place in the hands of the dealer.
You Canadians and other metric-ites confuse me. In the same sentence mileage and kilometers is mentioned. Make up your minds...mileage or kilometage.

It used to be thought that modern cars with digital odometers couldn't be "clocked" but this isn't true. If you google " turning back an odometer" you'll see how it's done. The bad part is if an odometer go's bad and it is replaced with a new one, a sticker go's on the door pillar that states the old miles and the new miles. The car is still a TMU car and that will drop it's value bu what may be a lot. Who is to say that the owner didn't drive it for two years will acccruing miles befor finally having it fixed!

Potato Chips!
I have a few at lunch with my low cal salad and sandwich (usually chicken, turkey or low calorie cheese) and a few chips. A few brands like Lays and Ruffles have reduced fat chips....reduced 60% and some 70%. They don't stock too many, there are dozens of various brands and flavors of regular chips, but the stores don't stock too many low fat ones. I guess if you want to eat chips you want them with lots of fat....to make them taste better.

I often see someone buying a huge baconator hamburger with a huge super-sized french fries.......and a Diet Coke

I really prefer Ruffles, but they are hard to find.

Driver, I rarely have chips (attempting to stay healthy) but if we do get some to go along with lunch, we usually get baked now. They seem healthier. And less greasy! I think some of the low fat ones have some nasty stuff in them though too.

I also rarely drink soda now, but if I do, it is diet regardless of the food (including pizza or a burger). Just can’t stand the taste of sugary soda. pkus of course, totally empty calories.

I like Cape Cod chips when I eat chips - which is once or twice a year - carbs is the reason.

I can't eat chips without feeling guilty. The low fat chips use a replacement that gives the taste, somewhat accurately, of fats, but has abdominal after effects. More in some people than others. Olestra. Look it up.

-Auburn with a Pinto engine in it. Not sure what would prompt someone to do that sort of “Frankenstein” on such a car, but I saw it with my own two eyes.

-69 Fiat 850....cute little thing.
-MG TD, MGB,,, MG Midget, Triumph Spitfires and a TR7.

Tons of ‘vettes. Plenty of ‘60s Mustangs.

Saw a ‘69 Pontiac Grand Prix, 3K original miles....loaded up with factory air, PS, PB, PW and door locks. Kicker? It was a manual transmission. Only one of 300 made, and 1 of 12 still in existence today.

No offense to any Mustang GT owners(remember that I came this close to getting a 2015 GT), but I thought this was hysterical. A guy posed this comment on another board in response to a road test of an M240i:

Why would anyone pick this over a GT, youjust get more for your money with the 5.0L. Same real-world mpg (my buddies GT gets 33mpg) and for like $40k u can get a gently used GT with a tune with even more power. Besides they have permanent Sport Mode not german engineered complicated sport mode lol. Why push a button? Just step on the peddle and V8 power no hesitation. Plus it has big brakes IRS and that classic V8 sound u kno for the ladies haha. Those BMWs are so tiny and over-complicated w/turbos and over priced for what u get just stick with tried and true American V8.

The author was actually a BMW owner; it duped quite a few people-on both sides-even though he ended the post with "/s". I tip my hat to him...

That's the "Hot Rod Appraisal Formula" -- add up receipts, divide by 2. Sounds like a joke, but scarily accurate.

Of course, this is a glass car. Were it Henry Ford steel, it would bring more money.

That is what I try to get Stick....baked. I only have about 6 or 8...figure it is about 60 calories for one of lifes pleasures. I look for one's with lower sodium too.

Imid.....funny, Ruffles have horizontal strips. I haven't bought another shirt with horizontal stripes since posting the picture. I don't normally wear stripes except very muted pinstripes.

Yeah, even during a "questionable" meal I'll order unsweetened Iced Tea or Diet soda. No reason to add to an already sinful meal. Mostly I stick to water or seltzer.

Chips... love them! Nothing like the kettle cooked varieties. Of course, we rarely ever touch them. I liked the baked too, they are pretty good to satisfy the craving without feeling too guilty.

I have to go out....but, I am saving that article to read later. It is kind of a theory I have....most things they do that try to save energy or fuel usually end up being worse.

Speaking of food juice is a good example, like orange juice, at one time juice was supposed to be good for you, now they find it is just sugar and empty calories.

According to the article, that’s in the UK, and it’s because the UK gets half of its electricity from coal and gas.

So the numbers are being disputed....but, what I take from it is that electric cars aren't as good as they claimed. My older brother was a stock broker and when markets went way up or down he had a saying, "Nothing is as good as it seems and nothing is as bad as it seems" I think that is true of electric cars. I also understand, getting rid of the batteries when they are done is also a big environmental problem.

In response to tariffs, Harley-Davidson moving more motorcycle production overseas

Tariffs are backfiring. HD sells 40k motorcycles a year into the EU, their second largest market. The new tariffs add $2200 to each bike. Their plan is to make a factory there, to accommodate the market until they can build a European plant they will have to eat the cost of the tariff....not, a great way to make America Great!.

That sounds like the political analysis by the MSM. They seem surprised other countries might do additional tariffs. To me this all is part of negotiating. There will be posturing, verbalizing, bluffing, making mistakes--sort of like an aggressive basketball player trying to talk his/her way into the opponents head with comments close up and low volume so the ref doesn't hear. The art of the deal.

We've been abused by _some_ of our trading partners for so long, now it's time to even the playing field. They take a little. They give a little. Usw. Just like negotiating for a vehicle.

I tried to explain that to my son a few weeks back when his fiance, her parents, and he were all working on getting a straight out deal on a slightly used GM that she wanted. She needed the car because she started at a job in a few weeks. Her parents were going to give her their Equinox. I explained to Imid, Jr., if she didn't need the car soon, they could have just kept watching new vehicles of that brand and made offers at dealers who could take them or leave them. Eventually, they'd hit the right day and would have a new car for not much more than the price of a one year old cute SUV. He understood. She understood. At least they didn't buy the CPO which is an add on at that dealer. My son knows they can buy a GMEP warranty bumper-to-bumper up to the end of the original warraty, 50/5 year.

All in negotiating.

I thought about posting the picture, and then I imagined all the kinds of abuse I would read about the picture. My not-so-trim self. The color of the shirt. The vehicle being a GM instead of a"reliable" brand. Etc. LOL
