Cheapest in my area is $2.34 for RUG and $2.84 for PUG. Funny, now that gas is coming down in price the spread between grades is increasing. When gas was $4.00 the spread was only about 30 cents.

I hear you. But sometimes I like to hear new songs and different artists. That’s why I love Sirius. My channels have never disappeared.

My last SiriusXM renewal was c. $25 for 5 months for each vehicle, which is still worth it for me. Some of my favorite stations include.....3 old fashioned xmas music, 25 70s and 80s rock, 26 60s and 70s rock, 28 the "Spectrum" of new and old pop and rock, 32 mellow rock and pop of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, 33 80s alternative/New Wave, 35 contemporary alternative, 67 jazz, 71 Sinatra etc, 73 40s, 75 opera, 76 classical. Anyone else have some favorite stations they care to mention? I also sometimes listen to the other decades channels, 42 reggae, 59 classic country, and 62 bluegrass.

There was a yacht rock or some name like that during the summer, IIRC. It had been one of the preset channels I had. I liked some of the songs there when I scanned the presets, but not all. Then it changed and went back to the original name. For a few months there was a Beach Boys channel. Talk about boring.

I'll check later today to see if SoulTown did change to something else for the season during the day today. I don't know what preset became Holly a few weeks back; same for whatever became the "seasonal" music.

I must have chosen the channels SXM considers throwaways and feel they can change at whim. Unlucky for me.

Others had said they were emailed offers from SXM. I found yesterday my signup for the account wasn't complete all this time. The automated receipt from SXM wouldn't open correctly. I tried to get the receipt online and couldn't. Chat agent helped get it set up completely.

Maybe I'll get an offer for 1 year at 30$ US in a few months.

I see they offer good plans on the siriusxm.com page now. My interaction with the voice agent was pleasant with no attempt at selling other than what I wanted.

I hadn't said anything before but when I bought the car, the saleslady said they had trouble signing up the SiriusXM free account. It worked. I waited for the car to end the free account of 3 months or whatever. Kept working. I kept waiting. Two years and a month later, it turned off. I started the car, and it came on and then blinked and was back to generic numbers instead of names for the presets.

So then I called and signed up for a trial that folks talked about here. Two years free... LOL I don't know what it was that did it. I did not call to ask why it hadn't turned off so I could sign up for a new plan. I learned not to question good fate.

Last night I saw the movie Green Book, which is a dramedy about a tour of the South in 1962 by African-American classical and jazz pianist Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali) and Tony Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen) who served as Shirley's driver and bodyguard. It's a good movie and I liked it and recommend it, but I had a few small issues....

Although I was born, raised, and educated in California, I've lived in Louisville, Kentucky, for 19 years. In the movie, when they drive from Indiana into Kentucky, crossing the border between the states is portrayed as being done on a country road without a bridge, but if you look on a map you'll see that the entire border between Indiana and KY is defined by the huge Ohio River. For anyone who actually lives in this area, or even knows the geography of this area, it doesn't help in terms of believability. Next point is that Louisville is in the far North of Kentucky, and is not part of the deep South. In fact, Kentucky itself stayed in the Union during the Civil War. In general Louisville was probably more progressive than some places in the deep South in 1962, but in the movie suddenly you're in the deep South once this fictionalized border is crossed. They are very careful in their portrayal of New York City at the time, but probably nothing in the movie was actually filmed in Louisville because there are no recognizable buildings or cityscapes at all. Small points. And I still enjoyed the movie and liked it a lot. My rating: "B+".

I liked the 1962 Cadillac in the film, which you can see in this trailer (along with that confused border crossing)....

I was told recording music and not paying for it was illegal. I paid for my USB sticks, and for about 100 of the 800 songs.

I said the same for a long time. But 800 songs is a lot, by the time you hear them again it could be 3 or 4 months later. If I don't feel like hearing a song I can skip it......and every song was hand picked. My 50s on 5 got bumped for Seasonal music and once Yacht came up on one of my stations....I don't like that kind of messing around. If I listen to a station I don't want it to disappear, they should have kept a few channels open to accommodate special programming.......another reason I find Sirius not user/customer friendly.

GG and I liked the movie too. These movies are always based on true life, so it certainly gives you an idea of the times, even if not completely accurate.
I loved the Cadillac and a lot of the cars from that period....magnificent street scenes.
Bohemian Rhapsody is another great bio movie...based on real life of Freddie Mercury and Queen. I wasn't a big fan at the time, but, the movie makes me appreciate the brilliance of these highly intelligent true artists, and Freddies very troubled life.

DId you really get them for free? I never had much luck with truly free downloads. But, then again, I was kind of late to the party. Napster was already dead by the time I moved past CDs.

I figure when you take into account the hundreds of albums I bought in the '70s and '80s for one hit song that had 9 other clunkers I listened to once and never again, the royalties issue kind of balances itself out.

Sirius: 80s, 90s, First Wave, Lithium, classical, a couple electronic stations, etc. I am on a "music only" plan which includes some news channels, but no comedy, talkblather, or sports (that I know of).

Napster and Kazaa were pretty fun back in the day, I may have a pile of mp3s from that era. I like to look at it the same way re: buying albums for one song.

Oldfarmer: I thought Canada Geese were not suitable for eating. Just read an article and what you say is true, farmers hate them because they can eat a field of seeds in a few minutes, hunters love hunting them - they are challenging to catch, and people who eat them say they are delicious.....similar to roast beef, nice if sauteed. Jmonroe1 and snake should open a Geese Fil-A franchise....instead of complaining start cooking.

Bohemian Rhapsody is on my “to see” list, too. Yes, the movies are more expensive to go out to see these days. But......good golly, the seats are so much better. The theaters I go to actually block cell signals (so no irritating ringing or talking during the movie). They actually serve beer and food in the one I go to. I like it, a lot.

Plus, it gives me a chance to be in the dark with my quasi-girlfriend.

@benjaminh ...I know that area of KY pretty well, too. Never lived there, but I think they took some pretty liberal scene license. My guess is they had to recreate the towns the portrayed on a set. Outside of Rabbithash, I didn’t recognize any of the rural areas portrayed in the movie.

Not sure what it was like in KY in the 50s or 60s. But, based on what I’ve heard 2nd and 3rd hand, rural KY was not kind to outsiders and minorities.

I've heard Louisville referred to as the Gateway to the South, and I think that's legit, though Louisville itself could pass for just about any Rust Belt city in the Ohio Valley or Great Lakes region. Not sure how it was in 1962 but that's my assessment since 2011. I dare say that once you get out of the Louisville Metro, the rest of Kentucky is quite passable as the South.

The 2nd Street (Clark) bridge was the main entry into Louisville but they might have been able to use the brand-spanking-new double-deck Sherman Minton Bridge, which opened in 1962... the Kennedy Bridge didn't open until 1963. I'm still waiting for them to let vehicles and/or foot traffic back on the K&I Bridge. Though we have definitely gotten some upgrades here in just the last few years.

The 2nd Street Bridge, as well as part of Whiskey Row on Main Street, actually show up in the opening taxicab scene in Stripes.

We have had Sirius in my wife's Jetta for over 5 years now, but I've only had it in my car since getting the RDX in September.

My presets are 70s, 80s, Bridge, First Wave, Soultown, and Groove. I've somewhat left the other bank open for my better half (for when she might be in the car for longer periods of time)

Wonder how much I can save by going to music-only... the Jetta just renewed, but I've still got some time on the trial in the RDX.

Kazaa... I think I tried that. I had Limewire, too. Again, though, most of what I got off there were not good recordings. Yeah, we succeeded in getting a few thousand songs, but it took A LONG time to do so.

Napster, Limewire, Kazaa....all were used at some point. My MP3 music collection really took off once I started college and was using their broadband internet. I still have binders of burned CD's; full length studio albums, live albums, my own mixes, etc. All this talk is making me kind want to put one back in the car haha.

It seems that most any music is available on youtube now, or viveo, within minutes of release. Michael Buble's Love (You Anytime) came out 3 weeks ago and was on youtube before my wife got the CD.

There are extensions (add ons) that work on browsers that recognize videos and allow you to download them. One even would split the video into an mp4 version and mp3 audio only version. Then you can select which mp3s you wish to place on your cd. There is a program that will adjust the audio levels of the tracks so they match: otherwise some will be much louder than others. Then just burn them to your blank cd.

It's so simple these days. No sneaking around on limewire or the dark web.

Used Kazaa at one point, too. I’ve got a whole 250 GB HD (that’s as big as a Dan Brown Hard Back) that I remember I paid a lot of money to store my songs.

Haven’t plugged that monster in in quite some time. MOst everything I want to hear is just a voice prompt away with Apple Music, these days.

I remember Kazaa being slow, and having to constantly fight off viruses when I was downloading.

Might be fun to plug that HD in to see what I was so gung ho to listen to back then.

OK, I'll answer myself.....I looked it up. $160 on sale, reg $199.
Has a rear and front facing camera. One guys complaint it doesn't have night vision. It has a warning if you are approaching a car too fast. Does the rear camera have an alarm if you are close. One guy suggest professional installation....to hard wire and hide wires.

The dual view means it records out the windshield as well as out the back window. It was $199.99 but was on sale for $40 off so $159.99. Installation at Best Buy is $49.99. I suspect there will be an additional charge though for running the wire to the back window. We will see.

When I bought it the girl also charged me for installation of a back up camera for $129.99. I guess she got confused when I said it recorded out the back too. They refunded that.

$50 for install?! That's definitely worth it. I want to say it took me about three hours, with significant help from my son, to do the install on the unit in our Forester. The Blackvue is a really nice unit, very compact with high feature content, but at about double the price of yours, the Cobra unit sounds like it will do a great job!

A Dutch court said no. But the man sued anyway. He wants to shave 20 years off his age saying that he looks and feels younger than his chronological age of 69. I am told that I look at least 15 years younger than my true age and if I could legaly change my age I think I might have tried it too. Strangely enough they don't sell Blackvue. I asked about it. They do sell Thinkware though.

I've installed them before too and I agree. For 50 bananas it's worth it. (I don't like using the cigarette lighter thingy.) As I said though, I expect an additional charge.

I remember queuing up a dozen or so mp3s and going out for the evening, hoping they'd all download by the time I returned hours later. Well, hard to know. But most of these cases I would imagine are picked from actual court dockets - that is, someone took the time to file a case. Knowingly filing a baseless claim, even in small claims, is a crime in most states. But there is also serious vetting that the producers do.

I canceled mine about 8 months ago. After having it for many, many years I figured I would miss it. I don't.
I have over 800 songs on my illegal USB stick........all songs I like and chose and my favorite station doesn't suddenly disappear and I don't need a reminder to call them and fight to get a decent price every year or automatically get charged some ridiculous amount.

While I cannot tell you how many songs I have I do know that I have over 40 hours worth of music. As for satellite radio, we had the free 6 months I think when we bought the sonata, I think we listened to it less than a week. I rather use what I already have.

As I'm getting more and more involved with this flip house, I have more reality than I have time for now but I'm not surprised because I have done some stuff around the homes I have lived in over the years (now in my 4th house) that has ALMOST prepared me for this reality.

The only home flip show I watch is the one with the husband/wife team (Chip & Joanna?). I noticed that despite the husband’s childish antics the wife obviously loves him. (She must to have 5 or 6 kids with him).

I tell my wife that it reminds me of us.

I saw Chip being interviewed a while back. He was nothing like the character portrayed on the show, and could have passed for a very sophisticated college professor.

$50 for install?! That's definitely worth it. I want to say it took me about three hours, with significant help from my son, to do the install on the unit in our Forester. The Blackvue is a really nice unit, very compact with high feature content, but at about double the price of yours, the Cobra unit sounds like it will do a great job!

The guy installed it in a little over an hour. Very neat. No unnecessary wires showing. The front camera had to be offset to the passenger side of the windshield because of Eyesight. They charged me an extra $25 which I expected.

It has a dual display showing the front and rear footage on a split screen. Front is 160 degrees and is 1080p. The rear is 130 degrees and 720p.

It was dark when he finished. I'll have a better idea tomorrow (if the sun ever comes out).

Now that I'm retired, I spend more time at the cabin where it snows seriously every winter. So, I decided to go with Tire Rack to buy a set of winter tires and wheels, given that the all-season tires I've had on my TSX have not been particularly successful at allowing me to drive up the incline from the cabin to the street. I've taken to parking about a quarter-mile away on level ground that gets regularly plowed and walking to the cabin when the snow gets deep, but I'd really rather not.

Anyway, I can now reinforce the notion that Tire Rack knows what they're doing. I got a set of four Michelin Ice-X winter tires and 16" (stock is 17") wheels, along with TPMS sensors, for a decent price (~$1050
minus $100 rebates). I originally ordered Blizzaks, but it turns out that the TSX "requires" tires with a load or speed rating that they didn't meet; only the Michelins did, so that's what I ended up with. I ordered them over the weekend, and Monday morning a Tire Rack guy called me to outline the issue. I asked why I was able to order something that apparently isn't allowed by the car manufacturer and got some mumbling. Anyway, it was dealt with quickly and I now have tires that don't have as good snow traction -- oh well.

So, the tire and wheel assemblies with the TPMS's installed, road-force balanced, arrived two days later. Well, not exactly -- two of them came on Wednesday, but it took until Friday for the other two to get here.

Anyway, this balanced wheel assembly system allowed me to tell Discount Tire to put it where the sun doesn't shine. They have become tire [non-permissible content removed] (not that that term is overused or anything) that don't use the car's door jamb placard for tire pressure and dictate where two new tires have to be mounted. When four wheels arrive at my front door that are completely ready to install, I can do it in 45 minutes or so (even on Sunday). I haven't completely given up on Discount, but now that I have loose wheels to work with I can take them in two at a time and get exactly what I want -- I'll install them later. Better yet, I can go to Costco.

That said, I got the four put on, and the TPMS sensors linked up immediately. I took the car out on the 202 (urban freeway) and verified that the car ran smoothly. Overall, the Tire Rack experience was totally acceptable. The TSX TPMS readout shows all four tire pressures; the one on the Forester only lights up a warning that is nearly useless -- one or more of the four tires is low -- you get to figure out which one(s) and by how much. Yeah, I know, who actually puts air in their tires these days -- there are people for that. That said, three of the four tires were dead on 35 and the other one was at 33. Not bad at all.

Sorry to interrupt the flow with an experience dealing with hands-on work on a car with over 150K miles that's actually driven in weather and kept long enough to wear out several sets of tires. Different strokes and all that.

The Green Book and in particular Bohemian Rhapsody follow the story line close enough that they hit the main parts the story is trying to tell you about. I read the background information associated with both movies.
