Yes it's a used truck with only 62 miles. The salesman told us it was a customer of theirs who only had it for a weekend before trading it in. The salesman also told us this customer sometimes buys several cars a month from them. Talk about chronic car buyers.
Gee, I don’t remember @breld having one of those, but if was just for a weekend maybe he didn’t have a chance to tell us.
I have a Facebook account but it's mainly used just to keep in touch with some family and friends as well as some groups for our borough, schools, and sports groups.

Yeah, @jmonroe is gone and his ugly cousin @jmonroe1 took his place and all of @jmonroe's seniority was lost. The new life in here is wonderful since nobody likes to pick on a newbie. You otta try it.

Lows tomorrow morning are expected to be in the mid to low 40’s down in South Florida accompanied by strong NW winds (15-25 mph) which means wind factor temps in the 30’s. Thank goodness for heated seats in the car.
Thoughts and prayers for the Floridians freezing in the 40 degree icebox.
Thanks, it is easy for you because you are used to those temps....we aren't. btw....tax freedom day is now in July.

Aren't you from Canada?
I am from Canada but we have been here since late October......and I am not used to cold temperatures any more. I used to go back in mid Dec with Mrs D. But the last time we did that 3 years ago there was about 3 feet of snow at Buffalo airport, cars were all over the side of the road.....they had spun out. When we were about a mile from our house my friend who picked us up couldn't get up the hill. Some guys came to push and I felt guilty so I got out and pushed the car with my light jacket on, no gloves, and summer shoes. All I could think of was "Why am I doing this.....this is insane". Now Mrs D goes back for 5 days in Dec and Feb., and I stay in Florida........why would I do that when it is usually sunny and bright here?
So you let your wife push cars through the snow in her shorts and flip flops? That’s cruel?
Went to work today and it was so bad that none of the bosses bothered to show up as they figured no one was crazy enough to come out. Boy, were they wrong to underestimate the group of retired workaholics they employ. It was standing room only in the driver’s room.
There was no work to do since none of the offices had made any requests for cars and the dealers wouldn’t accept any deliveries today. The boss said if we wanted a few hours work we could clean the 18” of snow off some cars but seeing that it was -8F with brisk wind we all fled out the door.
Retired workaholics? Kind of a oxymoron isn't it?
What would you call people who come to work at a job they don’t need when it’s -30 windchill?
Let me say this as politically correct as I can...STUPID.

I'm thinking we can swing back a little closer to the cars in CARS & conversations. As interesting as a lot of things are, we ARE about vehicles here, not taxes and healthcare and all that. Diversions certainly welcome and interesting, but once we get to suggesting there ought to be a taxes discussion... there's your sign
Probably a combination of cabin fever and all those tax prep ads that are everywhere this time of year
Just a gentle nudge from one of your friendly neighborhood moderators!

OK car related. My wife was talking about what to get when we replace our current cars. She suggested a pick up for me so we can take trips and bring the motorcycle with us. So that got me to looking at pick ups. Well we were out today and just stopped by a Chevy dealer just to look. Well my wife asked about the used ones that they had and the salesman looked in their inventory listing the used trucks they had and mentioned this truck. Yes it's a used truck with only 62 miles. The salesman told us it was a customer of theirs who only had it for a weekend before trading it in. The salesman also told us this customer sometimes buys several cars a month from them. Great looking truck and $35k sounds like a good price for a truck of that caliber. My main concern is MSRP was $40k, and I don't know how much discount they usually give you when new...possibly $3000. If my calculated guess is right it isn't much of a discount, except it only has 62 miles on it, so in some ways it is new. Guess you save transportation cost.

The $35k is the asking price, what they get is another story. Buy hey for all intents and purposes it's a new car.

@snaleweasel, Interesting story about how the truck ended up as 'Pre Loved', but I'm kind of suspect of the 'Market Value' starting price. Doesn't hurt to look at some other options.
We were just scoping out trucks, not in the market yet. If we go this route it will be mine and used solely for commuting, bad weather and hauling stuff so I would get a more base model with few options.
If you want just basic get a Nissan Frontier. Old technology so there shouldn’t be any bugs. Firm ride but pretty powerful. And cheap (as in half as much as some other trucks)

The service surveys remind of an odd issue I ran into. Some how my email got associated with a customer at a dealership in Virginia. After each service visit I was emailed his survey.
After a while I called and asked them to remove my email from the account, sure sure no problem, we’ll do that right away....of course not done. So next time I call the service manager and say you can remove my email...or I can give all zeros, the choice is yours. I have never received a survey email since.
Right or wrong the threat of a bad survey is a powerful thing

Maybe someone can give you an auction value for it. What does Edmunds say it’s worth. Might be a hard valuation since there wouldn’t be many compariables.

Depending on the length and type of commute you might want to be choosy if you go the pickup route. Older designs such as the Frontier and even the Tacoma might be a bit penalizing in that service, especially since you are used to a sedan.
My Honda dealer still has me associated (email) with my old accord that I sold in 2013. Buyer lives 5 minutes from me and still goes there. I occasionally get a service notice, and have some points in their rewards program. Oddly, my email, but her name. I told them a few times then gave up on it.

typically my commute is 12 miles through suburban traffic which can have long backups at a few lights. April through October weather permitting it's done on the bike.

I had the differential fluid changed in my TLX on Friday. The price came in UNDER what their service sheet stated (by about $55). Pleasantly surprised, I asked the service manager why they lowered the price (or, was I such a great customer that they gave me a “deal”)?
He said the Honda store across the street (different owner) was sending out coupons to Acura owners to get some of the service business....offering “Honda Service Pricing”. I never got the mailer, but my Acura dealer wasn’t about to give away any service business. So, they beat Honda’s service pricing on my rear diff fluid change by............A DOLLAR.

@pensfan83 ...same with my dealership group. They have a Honda store, too....only it’s not remotely close to their Acura dealership. I just got a piece of mail from Acura wanting to know if I want to update the maps on my NAV system, to the tune of $149. I think they’re fighting a losing battle now that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have their own map features that constantly update.....for no cost.
I would agree, their target audience is definitely going down in number. I use the factory nav on a limited basis, for trips to parts of the city I'm not as familiar with where I don't feel like firing up AA for example. For extended trips I have Waze up and running on the nav screen.

How many miles do you have on your Acura?
~18K.
It will be 2 years old this May. I figure I’ll have 22K-23K miles on it by then.
A B6 service (biggest piece is the rear diff fluid change) is called for around 15K. For whatever reason, mine didn’t pop up on the service indicator until 17K miles. Last service I replaced the engine air filter and the cabin filter myself. Oil changes, tire rotations and all the “checks” they do runs about $60 ($50, if I can snag a coupon).
So far, it’s been very cheap to own and maintain. Only been to the dealership for service. Very pleased.

@driver100 ...thanks, that was the pic I was trying to post.
@roadburner ....did you see any of this during your BMW days?
