my favorite salsa is one that you make from a dehydrated mix that some friends of mine market online .. it's lantanaoftexas.com .. and the "hot" is wonderful .. mix with fresh or canned tomatoes and let set about an hour ...
the lantana seasoning on that site is also good - I prefer the salt-free so I can get it spicier but not so salty ...
Bottle sauce favorite is "on the border" ... we love it .. and luckily they sell it around here ..

Nah, gotta go home-made. Get tomatoes and green peppers from my garden, add parsley, chives, and spring onions from my herb garden.

We've had a couple of deep freezes, so it's a bit late now. I've already turned the soil to get it ready for next April.

We got about 6 pumpkins recently. Also had green beans, cherry and big boy tomotoes, cucumbers, squash, lots of stuff.

Juice- looks like a decapitated full-belly guy!! LOL

Ed- eh....that one guy is just a fascist; he doesn't actually post about cars, he just incites those incindiary threads. I gave up; he's not interested in a discussion. I'll just stick to the mid-a and the Legacy forum for the most part

It just started snowing here in Wichita. Been snowing since early this morning in Oklahoma and finally decided to make its way north. (yep that's weird but this is Kansas...)

Looks like we will have a white Christmas.

Happy Holidays and peace to all.

of every flavor to all from here in the sunny dry Pacific NW.

Finally have enough snow in the mountains for the ski areas to open. Not enough for me to risk my ptex yet. ;^P

Living where there's lake effect snow, we've had plenty of the white stuff the last two years I've been here .... but none on the ground this year, and not likely to be ....
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all ...

No snow inland, either, Ian... hint of a flurry in the forecast on Christmas Day, but that's about it. (Bulletin: forecast on TV right now suggests a better than even chance on 25th. Yay!)

I'm on vacation over the holidays.. the first time in about 15 years that I'm not working around or on Christmas... which in & by itself is a pretty nice gift.

To all my Crew friends (my Subaru family, of sorts), I wish for all of you the peace, joy, happiness, and blessings the Christmas season means.

Now I need to go shower & change to get all the fiberglass insulation rinsed off - had to crawl into the furnace closet & fix the humidifier!

Typing with one hand, scratching with the other...

    Cheers!

While I am supposed to be on vacation for these two weeks, problems in FIB Land require that I keep on top of things by phone and e-mail. Makes it a little tough to "detach and unwind", but that's life in modern corporate America.

To all my friends in the Crew, only the best. May the coming year improve on all that was good and erase all that was negative in 2002. Enjoy the holidays, take care and be well....

long time no see... how's life up north?

You've been absent so long, I was suspecting you were busy photomodeling... remember that famous picture of yours, next to the beautiful 1KWKWAGN?

to all of the crew family. May it be joyous and peaceful and white! (We expect 8-15" of snow)

Bob - said a little prayer for your daughter's ex today in church.

    Happy Holidays Crew!

I won't be hugging my Subie yet. We just came back from the sierras and she REALLY needs a bath. (So do I, come to think of it.)

After all the forecasts about NO snow here .... lo and behold it started snowing yesterday evening and we ended up with 6-8" by this morning .. guess that kid with the sled will get to play outside after all!
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
He went in for what was supposed to be a 4-hour operation, which in fact turned out to be an 8-hour operation. The next day (yesterday), they had to go back in, as a blood clot had formed, and he had lost vision in one eye. That's been corrected, and he now appears to be on the road to recovery. As of this moment he's listed in serious condition, and is still in the recovery room. We've got our fingers crossed. He's a great kid, and way too young (19) to have to go through such an ordeal. Still haven't heard if the tumor was malignant or benign...

Other than it's been a great Christmas. It's even snowing here! Frankly, I can't ever recall a "White Christmas" here in this part of Maryland.

    Bob,

A friend of mine just went through the same exact operation. It's a scary thought to have any kind of cancer, especially in the brain. I hope he's on his way to a solid recovery.

According to my friend, IF one had to get a tumor in the brain, the pituitary gland is supposed to be one of the easier places to get to. Recovery rates are very high compared to any other locations.

he was showing signs of "giantism" (not sure if that's the correct term?), because his growth hormones were all out of wack. His hands, feet and other bones were getting excessively large. He was also getting migraines. If this had occurred while he was a bit younger, and still growing, he could have ended up being another Andre the Giant.

    We've got our fingers crossed.

Even though he's no longer dating my daughter, he's remained close to her, and she with him. They're real good "friends." He's a good kid, and we're pulling for him.

It has been snowing like crazy here in the Hudson Valley (NY), after a morning of sleet and freezing rain. Our friends were going to cancel their little Christmas party, but we said "why? We drive an OBW!" So off we went, cutting a virgin path on some of Poughquag's back country roads. I wouldn't have called it an easy drive to and from, but there is nothing else I would have rather been at the helm of!

Bob: Followed the story of your daughter's former BF. So very sad, but hopefully the worst is over.

about 4" of snow, a very, very wet snow, I might add, out of that storm.

Hope everyone had a very Merry holiday! Lots of snow in the NE, so I hope it was a safe one for everyone as well.

Bob - fingers crossed for your daughters friend. I had a friend had a brain tumor removed a few years ago, and he is doing well. It did help him in one way- made him slow down and enjoy life instead of racing through evrything.

northern nj received a nice white christmas. the soob was fantastic - after driving to my mom's at around 1:30pm - i actually volunteered to go out again in the mess to go pick up my sis-in-law an hour away & bring her to the party/dinner cause her husband (my bro) is a cop & was working. good time. headed home around 9:30 as the snow was ending it was all very quiet & desolate - felt like the only one on the road w/the plows. can i tell you again how much i LOVE this car? best wishes & prayers for yr daughter's friend bob. later, ken

I picked up the February SCC on the newsstand at lunch and read the article about Prodrive with the pics of the Makinen/Lindstrom Argentina car. SCC is a tough magazine to read. The article was spread out over 8 pages, 5 of which took up only the top half of the page. Only 1-2 paragraphs of text in 10-point font on each, 3-4 1x1.5" pics - and the rest devoted to half-page or larger ads for body kits, grapefruit shooter/coffee/flatulence can exhausts, phony HID-look lighting, wheels and accessories from manufacturers I've never heard of except for MRT of Australia.

From the looks of it the sport compact car tuner industry owes thanks to Mitsubishi because most of the advertisers have some or other product named "Evo," including Winston cigarettes.

I am in total agreement, at its conception SCC, was a great magazine but now it is at least composed about 3/4 advertising.

I also hate reading articles that are spread out all over a magazine, why the hell they do that is beyond me.

    Cheers Pat.
  • jfljfl Member Posts: 1,399
I don't read that magazine but it's probably to avoid having two ads selling the same thing next to each other. It also keeps you from tearing out the article and tossing the ads. 8~)

...as in 90 degrees every day, no break from the heat!

The one year I go to Brazil, I miss a white Xmas, oh well! Guess I will have to make do with warm and clear ocean water, 50 cent beers on the beach (slightly less for fresh coconuts).

I am in a mall and saw a free workstation, so decided to stop in and say hey to the Crew. The wife is shopping til she drops, and I cannot bear to watch. ;-)

Seen 2 subies! One Impreza one Legacy, and then the Legacy a 2nd time. They are that rare.

I will catch up to you guys later. Try to stay warm! hee hee
