I agree, and speaking as the former brown Volvo guy, I wouldn't personally spend $30k on a design that old. Especially a T5 with no ACC. If you're really going to keep something for 6+ years, it has to be a newer design, with better infotainment, safety features, etc.

I love the colors too. Agreed about the dash, at least at that price point. It’s still way more modern (and well equipped) than the RDX it would be replacing. But compared to the new design, it seems like an antique. But same goes for the RDX.
I hear what you’re saying, and if you already have it, great. But if the idea is a long term hold, why spend north of 30K for something that’s already out of date? Especially for a card-carrying CCBA member? I’ve used that Volvo interface for four years, and while it has some nice features, they aren’t easy to get to.

Yeah .. the tech evolves so fast. When we got the 2017 Enclave, that was one thing I remember telling my wife. “It won’t have CarPlay or the latest tech in it”.
The system is at least very easy to use, but it’s very antiquated now. It’s getting glitchy too, I’m almost ready to see if the dealer has any firmware updates for it.

@qbrozen, A few days ago, I asked about the value of my 2017 Fusion. After visiting several sites to get a value, I think I found some interesting stuff. Your numbers were 13.5 trade in, 14.5, CARV buying website. Went to Kelly and after checking all appropriate boxes, their number was 14.6. Some others were much higher, so I'm ignoring those as not realistic. When I did the Kelly quote I checked every appropriate box. Got a quote from CARV, only checking Lux and Tech pkg, not all the individual features. They came back with 14,125. Noticed their interface looks exactly the same as Kelly. Went back to Kelly only checking the same boxes(Lux, Tech). None of the individual features included in the packages got checked off. Their number changed to 14,275. Makes sense that it was higher because they didn't ask if I owed any money on the car, which I do. Going to wait a few days and reenter my CARV quote, also just sent in my payment. I'm having fun with this, since I actually have some equity.
It’s strange how really expensive options on a new car add little cost on a used one. I think the difference between a used Murano SV and SL was about $1,000 when I bought mine. I didn’t even look at a Platinum because the SL had the features I wanted and I didn’t want the bigger wheels on the Platinum.
no, not normal. Not sure it went through auction, though. No idea why it traveled across the country.
Auction value would be right around $40k ... roughly. They aren't terribly consistent.
So what would a reasonable offer on a CPO be? I'm thinking $43K? Also, what's my 2014 535d x-drive with 83K miles worth on a trade?
I don’t think you’ll get it to 43. Maybe 45 would get it done. No harm in pushing for more. Looking at about 15 on yours. So $30k difference in the two.

I have the Fender audio system in my 2015 Golf SE and am very pleased with it. I've never gone more than 1/2 way with the volume and it fills the cabin up nicely at that point. I know I would pass on any vehicle without a specialty audio system as they mean that much to me. And if not included, I'd be at an aftermarket car stereo store within days after the purchase to add components to make the audio system work for me. Have done that on every vehicle I've ever owned because I have to gave it. I always try to factor in an extra thousand or more to upgrade the tunes if necessary. And it's something I won't compromise on...end of story!!

$47k auction value, so not much wiggle room likely. All depends what they own it for, of course. If they took it on trade themselves, it is possible they got it for 45.
Note that the carfax shows 75 more miles than the listing. Someone has been joyriding.

not in a CUV. I sit "tall" and really only had 1 normal car that it caused an issue (the TL). I have so much clearance in the RDX that another 2 inches would be totally useless, unless I started wearing a 10 gallon hat while driving!
and in a 4,000# "trucklet" the extra weight up top (whatever it really is) is not likely to make any material difference. And if you want to go racing on the track, I am pretty sure a Santa Fe or Outback is not the right choice!
of course it is personal opinion. If you don't like it, don't get it. I love it and use it all the time. I would gladly trade off the 20-21" ultra low profile tires a lot of companies seem to force on you now. those are completely useless, and are actually a negative (more prone to damage, add unsprung weight, stiffer ride, noisier). I am sure normal sized tires I would notice. not having a roof, I never would in terms of driving dynamics.

I'm with you on the wheels/tires getting absurdly large. Also, there is high inflation on tires lately as I'm checking prices.

Hi. I am looking for a second car. I am currently driving an Infiniti G37x. I would want a pre-owned car thats reliable, has low depreciation, is fun to drive and gives a luxurious feel. I am planning to change it in ~3 years so I want to keep a high resale value. I am considering two, not sure which should I pick:
I tend not to keep vehicles more than a couple of years, so it's great to have an exit strategy, but I wouldn't worry about depreciation on either one of those. They're both over half depreciated from their original MSRP and their likely selling price. You win with either one of them by buying used. Just buy whichever one you like best.

It is very loaded with about every option. Also, it was in the Pacific NW and ended up at a dealer in Connecticut. Is that a normal distance for an auction vehicle to travel?

Hahahha; high inflation. Wait, did you intend that pun?
If you're up in the PNW, that car is going to bring silly money. Super rare and very in demand. Curious to see what the sages say.

Lexus has nicer look but Infiniti has better engine, so I like both the same. Infiniti has higher mileage but Lexus is $2k more expensive.
That's why it all comes up to depreciation and which one is best bang for the buck.
