Greatest Sports Car on the Planet, I'll grant you that title. ;-)

Mine is bigger than yours. The Forester could swallow a WRX whole in its cargo area. Almost. ;-)

Very little your Forester can do that Rex can't....except look boring and boxy.

That boring and boxy lets it do something else the WRX can't: escape the attention of Johnny Law. >;-)

What the... How the heck can you BUY championships? Bottom line is Yankees have too much heart and when they lost the WS, it hurt but they still came back strong.

Unlike other teams that win once and disappear. Don't hate the Yankees because they have 26 championship rings; hate the team you're rooting for for not making it.

And if you're referring to George having the money to buy talent, well..
1- That's nobody's fault (as much as I don't like him, he IS a smart businessman).
2- Buying talent doesn't guarantee you a WS ring.

IF it weren't for their souls, they wouldn't be where they're at now!

While i dislike the Yankees too, it's the Yankee fans i hate the most!! Hearing them on the radio all day saying "we're this" or "we're that" and disparaging everyone else! First of all, they aren't Yankees, they're fans of the Yankees! And secondly, one should expect winning when one spends twice as much as the next team! Although i did think the 'Who's Your Daddy' chant last night was pretty humorous!

Then again, who am i to talk, i'm a Blue Jay fan!! (only one South of the border, i think!)

As painful as it is, I have to go with the Red Sox.

Boxy, yes. Boring, I dunno. I thought my 98 Forester with 20% tint looked pretty sharp in a angular-sort of way. I even had one person come up and tell me it was "sexay". ;-)

In my case, Johnny Law did bust me once for driving over the speed limit.

Yankees have a salary combining $184 million while BoSox combine $140. If the Yankees are supposed to win base the their highest paid team, then it's not going to be easy seeing them leave. I'm a Yankee fan but I don't go running around "we're this" and "we're that". But what we are is fet up with BoSox talking trash about us meanwhile at some instances they act worse.

Even if I'm the only Yankee fan on this board, regardless.. a curse is a curse is a curse!

Besides, the "Who's your Daddy" chant, was initially started by your best choker..er.. I mean pitcher: Pedro Martinez. If you light a fire up our butt, don't expect us to stay quiet. :p

Ken, I must admit the same. My first speeding ticket since 1982 (and only my second in my life) came in my '00 Forester.

I'm right next to you...I grew up in Washington Heights across the river from Yankee stadium and even had my bar-mitzvah (many moons ago) at a catering hall next to the stadium...I've been a Yankees fan since we first moved to Washington Heights (1956) and will ALWAYS be a Yankees fan..they are ALL HEART and as cohesive a team as you will find. When they win, their happiness and joy really shines through.
  • tsytsy Member Posts: 1,551
$184 million buys a lot of cohesiveness. ;-)

Cut the money they spend on player salaries by $50 million and I guarantee they won't have the heart or talent to win the WS.

Like it or not, money can buy championships. Or lose them. (hey, I'm a Mariners fan, the second highest grossing franchise in baseball, didn't even break .500 this year- that's what lack of money buys- last place) ;-(

Hey guys, I've had 2 speeding tickets in the last 5 years, one driving a minivan, the other test driving a full sized SUV. It's so easy to speed in this GT that I'll probably lose my license! ;-)

my underperforming NY Mets. Attended my first game in '64. My dad attended Shea Stadium's grand opening dedication and the Mets first game there. I have attended a few Yankee's games (saw Whitey Fords second or third to last start), but never enjoyed being there.

The Yankees-fever is overwhelming around here, but you will never count me among the faithful.

I'm a Mets fan too after seeing them beat the Cards in '69. I like the Yanks too though.

My ski buddy is really after my Outback today, and Boise is pretty suited for a convertible a good 7 or 8 months out of the year. I don't know how I'd get to the hill in a RWD though, and I just got off the sewing machine after rebuilding my snowboarding bibs. I sort of like the idea of trading used cars more often since I usually drive them forever. Midlife fun...

You get to go to a game? Fenway is totally sold out. One of my friends went to a game - $65 a seat. Family of 4, with food and parking was almost $500.

Hey boxy = good! I think it was Motor Trend that recently did a comparo between the Volvo V50 and the Saabaru. Even though the cargo specs were close to identical, they really dinged the Saabaru for its lack of functional cargo capacity. The smoking gun was a picture of a 4-drawer dresser that fit easily in the V50 but in the Saabaru it protruded far enough that the hatch couldn't come close to being closed. And the Forester is way more versatile than the Volvo :-)

Here's the bottom line. I had a Forester once and really like it. It went anywhere, hauled stuff, was comfortable, had heated seats, got 28 mpg, and I it's looks grew on me. Is it the perfect vehicle for everyone .. no, but as someone told me once .. not everybody likes chocolate ice cream. Now I think that's crazy but it's true.

The XT would be nice but I don't want to pay for premium fuel anymore. The XS will be fine.

GEt to know me, and you'll realize that comments like mine above are made with tongue firmly in cheek. But I do honestly detest the Yankees, and that's funny because I don't even like baseball!!

I think this applies to most teams!

I saw Jerry Lewis on Broadway in Damn Yankess. Best show I've ever seen. He broke out in an ad-hoc facial expression skit, and had the entire theatre cracking up, and me crying from laughter. My kidneys were sore later.

He played the Devil, of course, and the best part was the opposing team was ... the Washington Senators.

How appropriate now that it looks like we'll have a team once again.

Forester is the only Subie to be rated #1 in its class by CR, C&D, IIHS, or NHTSA. All of them, actually. No other Subie can make any of those claims.

No, Rob. Unfortunately, I have not been to a major league game in many years. My dad had excellent connections and we used to get field box seats and occasionally press box (that narrow band between tiers) to games at Shea. That included Mets and Jets!

Now I occasionally take the family to Dutchess Stadium for our local minor league team, the Hudson Valley Renegades. Nolan Ryan's kid used to play for them. Minor league is great fun, very safe & family oriented, and still affordable.

We have the Lowell Spinners, a minor league team for the Red Sox just 5 minutes from the house.

You're right about the minor league games - my 9 year old loves them. Tickets are $6.50 and parking is $3.00

I didn't know that the Yankees salaries grew by $50 million, when they won since 1923. :p

There was a review of the OB XT Limited in the local paper today. The thrust of the article was to question Subaru's decision to move upscale. I found it interesting that the writer quoted a researcher who stated that Mercedes was adding AWD across their model lines because surveys had shown that people living in cold weather climes who could afford a Mercedes were instead opting for a Subaru. Then in the next paragraph the writer expressed doubt that many people would be willing to pay $32,5k for a Subaru, even an admittedly nice one.

To me this seems to capture the dilemma that Subaru is facing... increased competition in the AWD market from all sides coupled with consumer reluctance to consider Subaru as upscale.

I don't think the 1923 Yankees would do very well today ;-P!!

But I'm sure they're not doing it for the money, right? ;-)

    Now THAT is true!!!

Subaru was able to prove that it can be a serious performance company with the WRX. Now they need to prove that they can also be a serious contender in the entry-luxury market.

Unfortunately the 05 Legacy/Outback is only 80% of the way there. I love my OBXT Ltd but it still has too many rough edges and small annoyances to be truly considered an entry-level luxury car. it's a big step in the right direction, but there remains much work to be done, and they need to do so while keeping an eye on the price.

Sly- I think most of the Crew would agree wholeheartedly with those sentiments.

If you haven't yet you should register your ideas for improvements in the Suggestions for Subaru topic.

After nearly four months of driving my Legacy GT wagon there are some aspects of the Forester that I do miss. One is knowing that I won't scrape my front bumper on a parking spot block or driveway. Another is feeling carefree about throwing anything in the back from Home Depot. There'll always be a spot in my heart for good old Raven. Word has it that someone bought it right off the dealer's lot soon after I traded him in.

Yup, Subaru needs to find another hit like the OB or WRX to keep sales going. Just being another $30K-ish near luxury sedan with AWD isn't going to cut it. So what market segments have not yet been addressed?

Stick with wagons, all shapes and sizes. AWD sedans are abundant, wagons not quite so.

Wow, this debate at home continues? I like the line about how she likes higher repair bills. Let her know that my Father in Law just dumped his A6 for an LS 430. Why? Warranty was up and he's on his 2nd transmission, 3rd set of brakes, 1 headliner, 1 sound system replaced, 2 window motors replaced, and the auto locks have failed.
  • lucien2lucien2 Member Posts: 2,984
Welcome back buddy! XS has all the jack-of-all-trades usefulness of the XT without all the grunt or cost. I think it's still a great choice.

My Subaru Crew page is teh b0rked. What does this mean:

The item ".eea1a91&ERIGHTS=4285984370710733099lucien.walsh@verizon.net- " does not exist, it may have been deleted.

started yesterday. Did I flush a cookie, or are the hampsters in revolt again?

Do you use autologin? Steve mentioned he saw it earlier today, but I haven't come across it yet. Could you drop a note over in Our Software? If it's not been reported, Sylvia or John will see it there.

I had to manually track down the Subaru Crew page, then re-assign it to my links. I overwrote the existing link, and all is well now.

To err is human, to really foul things up takes a computer... again!

Were all of you owners of Legacy and Outback Ltd. model wagons aware that you have a tri zone climate control? Yes that's right, one zone for husband, one for wife and one for dogs. Susan and I had to take our GIANT dogs out of town on Saturday. First off, with the seat down in back there was plenty of room for the 145 lb. Great Pyr and and 110 lb. Alaskan Malamute. It was 48 F Saturday morning so I dialed in a nice cool 68 on my side and Susan dialed in 72. Then we opened the panoramic sunroof and partially opened the back windows. Presto, instant climate control for two very hairy dogs. I've got some great funny shots of Kea the Pyr trying to stick her nose up into the wind out the sunroof. They are both tall enough to get their heads up to that level. Anyway my Ag Ltd. is the best dog mover I have ever owned.
