As in the past all toys must be currently on sale by 12/25/04, so that leaves out the B9X, at least for this year—the usual $100K MSRP (not street price, but MSRP) limit still applies too.
For me, I'll take:
• A new Legacy GT Limited sedan 5MT (Santa, you can keep the optional rear wing, thank you)
• A New Pathfinder LE 4x4 with NAV and DVD
• A new Baja turbo 5MT
That should about do it. Thanks Santa!

'05 Toyota Tundra v8 limited 4x4 double cab ~$38k msrp
'05 Mini Cooper S hatch with sport & premium pkg ~$25k

05 Mustang GT 5M 4.6l V8 w/1000 watt Shaker Audio system
05 PT Cruiser Convertible (because my 9 year old thinks they are cool)

But as long as Santa's paying for it-
2005 997 911 C4S
+ maybe a used miata to reach $100K.

Oh, and toss in a Boxster S for those warm sunny summer Sunday mornings.

A really tough decision every morning...which car? Which car?

Hello, SoA? You listening? :-)
I'm researching to find who to send a letter to. Maybe a certain person named in all the press releases. I will respect his privacy, though.
If we need more than that, I'll let you guys know and we'll start a letter writing campaign, something like that. That would have to be early next year, so that's why I'll send the results of the survey now.

LOL
I'll settle for joint custody with Brenda. So we'd have $160 grand to bribe whoever it takes.
Brenda, you in on this? ;-)

I've been to the dealer once to deal with the coolant related recall issue.....I got that slimey feeling and am hoping that was my last trip there...
Someone mentioned the plain states being relatively sparse regarding dealers...this is true.

Can I count the trade-in value of the current cars? Let's keep it simple and say No.
So I'd keep Sandy. Emotional attachment.
The wife wants a nice sedan (not wagon this time). I need to replace the aging Miata. The family could use a van, but it's gotta be AWD. Lemme see...
Lotus Elise: $41k
Toyota Sienna LE AWD: $29k
Subaru Legacy GT Limited sedan: $30k
$100k exactly!
Gosh, I could easily spend a lot more. Make the van a Limited with DVD and Nav and I'm $10 grand short!

Legacy GT Ltd
Easy come, easy go!
or
Ferrari 330 GTC...approx 90 - $100,000
even easier!
For an extra 100K, I'll go for the 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta
05 OB XT LTD auto ~ $30K
04 Porsche Boxter S anniv ed ~ $65K
The other $5K I would use to at least start to restore the 64 Triumph Spitfire sitting in my mom's back yard.
Happy Chanukah to one and all! Latkes all around.

I know there are better models of sports convertibles out there, but for some reason the Boxster S just sticks in my mind. Same way that for a luxury vehicle I like Cadillacs.
But I have to say the most fun I have had with any car I have ever driven is my 2000 OB Wagon! I have gone places and driven in conditions I never would have before (thanks to the 48HRS runs!), as well as met a great group of people. That is just one more reason why I will stick with Subaru in the future.

Of course now it's raining so the top will have to go up for the ride home.
I'd take a Boxster any day. I got to drive my friend's and thought it has the smartest automatic transmissions I've ever sampled in my life. So if it had to be an automatic, maybe I'd lean towards the Boxster.
But I'd take an Elise with a manual.

Put me down for much more likely.
My '97 OBS was my first and nearly my last Sube because of MAJOR dealer problems (RIP Bell Subaru). I was a little concerned about getting a Forester because of Ed's wheel bearing problems and the 2.5 head gasket issues.
Having Patti here put me more at ease about getting a Forester. I understand if Patti can't devote much time here, but maybe she can get someone else to help. I nominate Samir whether he knows it or not! :-)

p.s. Bob - hope your wife's surgery goes smoothly.
The Porsche tiptronic is a great auto- it will blip the throttle, hold a gear in a turn, and select the right gear maybe better than some of us! But alas, I think the major buyers of the tiptronic are women who can't drive stick, and wouldn't know the difference in the drive anyway.
(This is how it seemed when I was looking for one anyway as I was talking to Porsche salespeople)

Anyone else suffer from Edmunds withdrawal?

I just got back from the hospital, and she looks much better today than when she got out yesterday, which is normal. Last night she was on some pretty heavy meds, and right now she said she didn't have any meds, but that may change. I think she's coming home tomorrow.
Won't know if the growth was malignant until pathology is finished examining it, which may take several days. I spoke to her doctor, and she seemed pretty confident that that it wasn't. Still keeping our fingers crossed until it's "final."
Again, thanks for all the support here. That's what makes this place so special.

I got to spend my day Christmas shopping. Woo-hoo! Time for libations.
Best speedy recovery wishes for your wife Bob ;-)

Hello, all. Going through a bit of withdrawl for sure...

Memo to Edmunds update your server on any day but chat day:-)
Cheers Pat.
The motor home has finally stopped moving in Arizona's "valley of the sun". And this means a land line instead of using an extremely slow cell phone. Now I can browse, UL/DL and all the fun stuff. Being "homeless" does create some problems keeping up with current news on the forum.

I included the survey results to show the proof is in the pudding - Patti's presence here definitely has a positive influence on their bottom line.
I'm hoping this will be enough, but if not we'll come up with a new plan of action in the New Year. I'll be in Brazil for 3 weeks (I leave Wednesday) but I'll try to check in once in a while.

They label it as a Dodge here, but everywhere else in the world it's a Mercedes.

Glad the surgery went well. Keeping the fingers crossed for the results.
