Loosh, when you go the invite website and enter your password does it have a drop down box of days and locations?

My invite gave me a choice of Harrisburg (one day) or Philly (three days) even though the postcard only mentioned Philly.

Snow warning - it is -3 north of Boston this morning. We are forcasted for 18-24 inches of snow tonight. Talk about Subaru weather.

Brenda - she's a brick hooooowwwwwssssee. BTW, it's a very good thing! Now I can't seem to get this song off my mind. LOL

heh ... I actually have ALWAYS liked that song ... I have some Commodores CD's and also some of Lionel Richie ... (ok, so I actually have them on vinyl AND CD -- showing my age here!)

at any rate .. we have a LOT of fresh snow and 'warnings' to stay indoors until roads are clear....

<heading out in the Subie to run the errands anyway ... lol>

Yeah, I ditto what Dave said -- you should see a pull down menu with a couple choices. They normally list the soonest first, which would have been Richmond.

since it didn't list Baltimore. I now realize that cities were added as dates became available. Oh well.

Was out this morning .. no problems getting through the 8-10" on the driveway ... the street had not yet been plowed .. no problems at all ...

get back about 2 and 1/2 hours later aand the plow's been through PLUS it's been continuing to snow lightly ... neighbors who haven't been out yet are shoveling or using snowblowers so they CAN get out ... and if they HAVE been out, they are parked in the street since NOW there is about 18" of snow at the end of driveways ... you guys know how it piles up there ....

felt like 'waving' as I just drove right through it and into the garage ....

walked back down my tire tracks to the mailbox and it's up to my KNEES at the street ... (to give you some idea .. I wear a 32 or 33" inseam)

Brenda having fun in the snow!

Brenda - Enjoy your SNOW! I'm going skiing on Monday.

    Bob - Praying for B9.

For some strange reason, I'm rooting for an all Pennsylvania Superbowl...

    Was that a ghost???

We have about 6" now, and it's supposed to continue into tomorrow. Just had my daughter's CRV out in the stuff, and it handled the snow just fine; no problems whosoever. I would have no reservations recommending it as a snow-assault vehicle.

Based on weather reports, Volkov bets it's going to be a Philly/Pats superbowl.

Pats vs Steelers is going to be an incredible game. As weather conditions get worse, I'm going to lean farther to the Pats. They are one of the best teams of all time making something out of nothing, and bad weather tends to lower the productivity of offences. Brady rarely panics, and knows that his defence will keep it close enough for he and the offence to just keep grinding away. Big Ben hasn't shown that poise yet.

Snowy and slippery will seriously diminish the explosive acceleration of Vick and Dunne, and won't help Atlanta's speed based offensive or defensive schemes. Philly is quick too, but more experienced and smarter I think, so they can do a better job of sitting back if conditions require. Plus I think Donovan has now grown to the point he won't try to carry the team so he'll stay patient. Vick needs to carry his team, so doesn't have that luxury.

Too bad the field at the Linc is tarped & heated and it's suppose to stop snowing tomorrow morning. :-(

Stay warm my East Coast friends!

Sunny and 60 degrees out here in the Bay Area. Not a cloud in the sky.

13F with 4F wind chill & heavy snow - west of Philly.

Going out soon to plow the driveway for the 3rd time! Plowed about 4" around 1:30 and by the time I was finished I had to plow again (got around 2" in about 1 hour).

much fun not to post and share. This is true Suby weather! I've been doing "runs" for some Sr. Citizen's in my condo complex. They are extremely appreciative, but I don't think they believe me when I'm telling them how much I enjoy doing it. 3 grocery store runs, 1 person that fell and would not let us call an ambulance. No serious injury, but was "dizzy" so I took him to the ER. We're at 9 inches here.

Oh - and an all PA Superbowl? I can get on board with that. After living with so many let downs with my beloved Eagles over the years, I really feel they are going to make it this year.

Hopefully, my posting here will not raise any attention and you will see me back more often.

Enjoy the weather. Snowmen and snowangels are in order, don't you think? Please be careful out there! Not everyone drives a Subaru (but we can be hopeful to convert them after times like this!

looks to be about 6" or so out there. I've been cooking all day, and only ventured out briefly to shovel.

um, yep, we got back from Vegas last night to the beginings of the storm (and 300+ posts in the Subaru Crew threads alone!). amazing what snow looks like when you're flying. this morning we had 10"+ of snow, then got 4" more from the lake effect. Now comes the blowing/drifting part. Driveway is finally cleaned up, but I have a 6' wall of snow now...

Our snow forcast has been upgraded to 18-24+ inches. Woo-hoo!

Patti - I am interested in your comment regarding incentives in the Feb/Mar timeframe. I am expecting to trade my 99 GT for an 05, but will wait if there are any decent deals in the near future. My e-mail account is in my profile for any information that won't get you in the dungeon. Thanks. Rob M.

Whose stupid idea was that?! This is football dammit! What the heck is the use of home-field if you're gonna turn it into a quasi dome game for panty-waisted wimps? That is not good news for Volkov's prediction.... or Philly. Lose tomorrow, and Philly will even be a second rate loser, compared to Buffalo, that is. If I lived in Philly I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight.

On the bright side, it's forecasted to be 19F with 20 to 35MPH winds at kickoff.

Since it was a balmy 23F today, I decided to do the 7500 mile service on my OB XT and the 10K service on my wife's Acura TSX. I now remember how difficult it is to change an oil filter on Hondas! In fact, it's still on the car. They call for an oil-only change at 10K and oil+filter change at 20K. I was going to be a nerd and do the filter at 10K anyway until I looked at it!! I will definitely wait to 20K for that, it's not something you want to do unless required. So, the TSX got new oil and a tire rotation. I also found and extracted some rope that was tangled in the right rear brake caliper, a real mess.

Of course, the oil change on the Outback was a piece of cake in terms of access. The drain plug came off easily, which was a surprise -- all my previous Subarus required superhuman strength to get the plug off for the first time. I had to use a pipe wrench to get the filter off, but it was not a big deal. I finally got cold and bailed, so I will have to do the tire rotations later in the week.

All KINDS of snow here. So Sunday was perfect Subaru weather. Much fun in driving around watching others slide, skid, get stuck at intersection, while the wife and I never got close to stuck. Stopped to help one poor car get out of the middle of the road. They were driving a Geo Metro, so they couldn't help it. Plows just couldn't keep up.

So now the wife decides, why struggle with finding a used Subaru? Why not just bite the bullet and get a new one? Roadside assistance, warranty, no worries about how a used one was treated...all the usual. So, now she's thinking of a RS sedan, Legacy sedan, or Forester X. We'll head to the dealer tonight and torture our salesman. Trying to go no more than 21k. We don't NEED a wagon, since my OBS handles that chore just fine, but the RS sedan seems too small to me. Legacy sedan might be better. She drives a Neon, so ANYTHING is bigger than what she has. Wish us luck!

    -Dan-

Oh yeah, GO PATS! I just loved watching the Steelers go down in flames last night. Lots of Pittsburgh fans here, so the town will be in mourning.

Sat. my wife and I went into the city for a matinee. When we got back to the lot where we had left the car, there was another OB, a Lexus, and us. The 2 OB's just got in after cleaning off the car and drove off. The Lexus had his friends push him to where the plows had been already. While driving home my wife kept on saying how safe and happy she was to be in our Subaru. She kept comparing it to our old Honda and Nissan, and saying how much better riding in the OB felt. It was great driving around! I did try to bring up the new '05 OB, but we'll have to work on that. Maybe another snow storm?

PS: Hello to the "ghost" working in southern NJ. If there are incentives for previous owners, that would definitely work in my favor.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    Cool, Dan, keep us posted.

Go for the Forester! It just one Polk's Owner Loyalty award yet again.

CPO program would be a good idea, it can boost resale values for all of us.

Philly - no way, no how could I go on 2/7, we'll be installed 168 new computers in 4 days, including the 7th. But go ahead.

    I'll try to make Baltimore.

Just too much going on at work right now.

    Here goes:

Mike - good luck on the job hunt.

Brenda - don't let the badly behaved ones get you down. There are plenty others that appreciate your efforts.

Bob - get those buggers off your back asap!

    Patti - Who? I think I saw a ghost....

Dan - Sorry... thought you were closer.

Snow? not as much as predicted, but 10-11" is enough, and plenty cold (-9' F this morning). We were out in the Honda Ody on Saturday, and the traction control was working overtime, even with the winter tires. I felt a lot better on Sunday being in the OBW.

Football? now that my Jets are out, there is little point to watching....

Wife loved having AWD in this storm. In fact if she ever has 2nd thoughts all it takes is one snow storm and she acknowledges how nice it is to have.

My friend who bought a Legacy GT said he's loving it. His parents live in Philly so he's seen plenty of snow lately.

He had a Volvo before, and all the traction/stability control in the world cannot match the VTD system in his new Subie. He says it feels much more secure.

Snow storms = Subaru selling weather

Once someone rides in a Subaru in bad weather, I feel they will "see the light".

I tried not to rub it in, but my wife admitted she missed her Forester during the recent bout of winter weather. Her TSX is OK (traction and stability control), but it's just not a Subaru! Of course, the other 360 days of the year she loves the TSX...

They didn't plow my street until yesterday, and when we had that Blizzard it took several days. So I would have been stranded completely were it not for the Forester.

Man, you guys out East are getting all the fun weather. Nothing but seasonal 50-60 degree weather out here. I really would like to take the LGT in snow someday -- maybe next season when Erina is old enough.

BTW, the LGT wagon turned 10K miles this past weekend. I can't believe it came so fast! It just seemed like yesterday that I took delivery.

I drive 30 miles each way to work. What's your excuse? ;-)

BTW, I was wondering if you read the latest Car and Driver issue with the STi and Evo rematch and comparo. Any comments on that?

Greetings oh shadowy one! Congrats to Philly for making it to the Super Bowl. They played great but I'm afraid they'll have to kick it up another notch if they hope to beat the Pats. Since I've no one left to pull for I guess I'll just watch for the commercials (which are frequently more entertaining than the game anyway!) :p

I'm torn on this one. On one hand I would love to see Philly win, but I just can't stand T.Owens, especially after he "diss'ed" Baltimore.

The only football player I like less than TO is Randy Moss. Did anybody see his hair last week? He looked like Bozo the clown. Which is fitting I suppose since he also acts like a clown!

They offered me $12.4k for my '02 OBW. I guess that would be OK for wholesale, but not enough to get me to jump.

Steve: They offered me $16.4k for my 02 VDC. Kelly Blue Book says my car is worth about 2k more as a trade. I don't plan to jump either. Martin

I got a letter last year about my 2000 Legacy, but I was already over the mileage limit.

I'm disappointed that the Steelers didn't win. Time has healed the "Immaculate Reception" pain. But I'm still steamed about the "Tuck Rule"! So I'll root for Philly. There are lots of other guys on that team (along with the franchise) who deserve a SB win. Go Eagles!

I got the letter yesterday offering me a minimum trade value of $14,350 for a 2003 Legacy 2.5 GT sedan. They say the car must have less than 30,000 miles. Since I am leasing, this doesn't apply to me.

I went to Edmunds and KBB to check trade in values. My car has only 15,500 miles (wife just drives it locally). Edmunds says $15,050 and KBB says $16,775. That's quite a spread. If I plug in 30,000 miles the value decreases by $1200 on KBB and by $776 on Edmunds.

Putting in low mileage (30k), CD, trailer hitch, location factor, etc, it said the SOA offer was about $1500 below par. Heck, I could just meet Dan somewhere in PA and he would give me more!!!

could it be OK? I do much of my own maint on the car, and always want to know more details and service tips. In the past I have bought factory service manuals, but the OB collection on paper will set you back several hundred $$. Cruising e-bay last night I found several CD sets priced below $25. One buyer offered the 2000-2002 CD, claiming it had all 8 (?) volumes, some 1500 pages, plus he would throw in the technician training manual (400 pages), for a "buy it now" of $15 plus $3 shipping. The tech training can be interesting, as they often describe the same repair but in more detail for the first timer. Good for us shade tree'ers. I went for it. I guess you cannot go too far wrong for $18???

Last night I bought my wife an 05 RS Impreza Sport Wagon, Crystal Grey Metallic flavor. Cargo tray, armrest extension, the usual necessities. She was quite familiar with my 04 OBS, so there's not a huge difference. I like how the mirror controls are on the door in the 05. We got to the dealer at 6pm, test drove the wagon and the sedan, picked the wagon, chose a color not on the lot which means dealer locate, came to terms and we were out the door by 8:15. I've worked with this dealer before...easy as pie. The car should arrive later this afternoon. Got it for $100 under Edmunds TMV, so we're pleased. Could have been done quicker if we hadn't sat around talking football. My wife is a long-time Patriots fan, and was wearing the hat, coat and gloves of the team. A walking Patriots sign, basically, and she knows her stuff. So, no more Neon. We're not trading the piece of junk. Should be better of just donating it and taking a tax deduction. So now we're a 2 Subaru family. Yeah!

Just kidding - I am not planning on selling anytime soon... I just cannot afford to do it, as much as I would like to be in a new one. And as per my last post, I just made an $18 investment in my '02!!!
