  • My dealer quoted me the following for a new build to my specs for December delivery. He said December is the busiest month with aggressive pricing. He stated that he was given the program for the X6.

    2020 X6 x40i
    MSRP - $74,695
Cap Cost - $67,695 (I am using a round number as the dealer stated he was giving me appx $7000 off MSRP including $750 loyalty - his words)
    36/15
    MF - 0.00128
    Residual - 55%
    NY 11731 - tax 8.625%
    $3129.73 taxes
    $925.00 bank fee
    $958.80 1st payment
    $75 title
    $20 inspection/tire recycle fee
    Total DAS - $5,108

I'm getting the following, assuming fees, title, etc. paid upfront:
    Monthly payment w/o tax: $878.48
    Monthly payment w/ tax: $954.25
    Taxes: $2,727.69

I am trying to figure out why his monthly cost and taxes are higher. Am I paying tax on the discount?
If I can get my numbers, I think the deal is good an will pull the trigger.
    Thanks

You need to know the actual cap cost the dealer is using, to determine the tax amount. Don't guess.

    Michaell,
The cap cost is $67,945. I explained that I was getting a payment of $878.48. The dealer stated that he is using the same numbers I am on the BMW leasing system and is getting $958.80. He stated that many lease calculators give different numbers. Not sure I believe that.

Who is right here? Can you provide me with the amount you calculate?
    Thank you very much!

Lease calculators often make assumptions we know nothing about.

    I use a spreadsheet and old-fashioned math.

Just so I am clear, are you getting appx $880 for the monthly payment? I have used several lease calculators and am getting in the range of $880 to $885. I just can't understand how the dealer is getting $958.
    Thanks again.

    Yes. Paying tax up front.
    Then I get $886/mo.

Dealer may be marking up the MF, and adding extra fees to the cap cost to raise the payment.

What do you guys think about this offer? This vehicle hasn't hit showroom floors yet, so I think discounts are a bit tougher to come by:

    X6 M50i 36/12K lease in Albany, NY
    MF/RV: 0.00128 / 57%

    MSRP: $89,145
    Selling Price: $84,250
Cash Cap Reduction: $5,721 (What is this???)

    Down Payment: $10,000
Rebate (loyalty and lease cash): $2,250
    Adjusted Cap Cost: $77,203
Tax (paid up front in NY): $3,220

    Waste Tire Fee: $10
    License: $60
    Inspection: $10
    Documentation Fee: $75

    Drive Off: $12,500
    Monthly Payment: $896

This seems high to me. Using the Leasehackr calculator I get $12,365 drive off and $831/month.

Any thoughts? Thank you in advance!

The CAP reduction is what is leftover from your $10000 upfront, after the upfront charges are paid (tax, fees and first payment) That reduces the CAP cost.

The calculated payment is correct, to the penny.

5.5% off MSRP isn't a very big discount. There isn't a leftover 2019 model to lease?

Now that the model has been redesigned, I'm willing to pay the premium for the 2020 model. However, I still think 5.5% is a little low on the discount. Thanks again for looking at this for me!

$1250 loyalty is this on top of the $1750 that's listed on the BMW website for their current promo?

    Corrected info

    .00128 MF and 58% residual
    $1000 lease credit
    $1250 loyalty

The $1750 on the website is likely the $1000 + $750 conquest
