Good morning. I've begun reaching out to dealers in the Chicago area for lease deals on a 2020 MDX SH-AWD w/Tech and A-Spec package. Seeking a 36/15 and my zip is 49085. Thus far I've been quoted a MF of .00235 and residual of 51%, with $1300 DAS and a monthly payment of $597. Would you please confirm the residual and MF (which seems rather high at an effective rate of 5.64) and share any incentives. Thank you!

Thanks for the lightning fast response! To clarify (as I've never leased a vehicle) do you mean a current Acura owner or previous customer at that particular dealership? The total discount quoted is $13,309 and I've also been offered a conquest bonus of $1000 for being a Honda owner. Am I correct in interpreting that the manufacturer to dealer rebate of $8050 results in a dealer discount of $5259, or about 9.4% of the total MSRP? I would think that that the dealer discount would be somewhat deeper. I appreciate the assist.

You've interpreted it correctly. Though, I think 9.4% off, in addition to incentives is a pretty good offer.

We aren't sure how Acura handles that. It could be a residual reduction, to account for current mileage, or it's possible that at a certain mileage level, the unit becomes ineligible for the new car lease program.

Piggy backing on the above RE: Base MDX, assuming same numbers for Base MDX FWD 36/10 @ 32801?

Also, if dealer is marking the sales price down about $7.5K from MSRP, is it likely that they are still giving a $7K lease incentive on top of that?

The .00225 part is correct; the lower MF is for returning customers.

However, you can make one security deposit to get the lower rate - we recommend that you do so.

56% is for 36/12 or 39/7.5; confirm the term and mileage the dealer is quoting 56% for.

I only see $500 (with special APR financing) or $1500 (without).

If the incentives have changed, it could be a day or two before our information is updated to reflect them.

In case your question about why shop now was not answered, AFS will waive the last 3 lease payments if you lease or purchase another Acura. In my case my MDX lease is up in June and I am about to lease an identical vehicle with a payment $115 less than I currently have, given the higher incentives and thanks to the info provided on this site.

Dealer called me up yesterday saying how my lease is up soon and if I wanted to upgrade to mdx they would take my current car early. You know the typical sales tactics so just figure I would be knowledgeable when he runs numbers and calls me back.

Guess with this corona virus they are reaching out to people earlier.

Honestly can't see the auto market getting better so will probably wait it out cause the MF is high compared to other auto makers

In case your question about why shop now was not answered, AFS will waive the last 3 lease payments if you lease or purchase another Acura. I would not follow that advice. As the incentives vary greatly between purchase and lease, you need to state your financing intentions up front with the dealer so you get the correct pricing.

Or at the least, what the dealer is offering for their "discount", even if we intend to lease? My understanding was that lease payments are calculated based on the delta between negotiated price and residual (rent cost)? Are dealer's discounts different depending on purchase or lease excluding manufactures incentives (for both dealer and consumer)?

The incentives are all Acura-to-dealer. So, once you tell them you are going to lease, you still negotiate the price of the vehicle. But, it should be a different price than the one you negotiated for sale.

The correct answer is ... it depends.

For Acura, the lease incentives are all to the dealer, meaning that they will be incorporated into the price the dealer offers you.

Yes, you want to establish a target price, but a lot of the pricing websites use the purchase incentives, not lease incentives.
